Unfortunately, that arm tattoo is as ghetto as they come. BTW, she isn't black (I can tell by looking at her), although she may be part asian. Either way, not Vivid material.

she says it herself; but i guess since you can tell, by looking at her, she must be a liar. dope
Can you two stop quoting the same images? Anyway, Adrenalynn IS half black. But she isn't much interested in another contract. [Link]

You seem to be the only person whining; It was only quoted twice. I've seen images quote five or six times in other threads you posted in. You didn't seem to mind then?
I was responding to your comment: "I was always surprised that no company jumped to sign Adrenalynn (Half-Black) after she was dropped from DP." Do YOU know for a fact that no company did? But from what I understand, she wouldn't be interested anyway. About quoting: it makes sense to quote an image if you're actually commenting on it or it was some pages back in the thread. To quote, for no real reason at all other than laziness, and THEN it has ZERO to do with your comments/post...what's the point of that? But I see that trying to explain such things to you is something of a waste...much like your presence at ADT. Edited by - Crucifixio_Jones on 1/14/2010 5:45:23 PM

Check out the latest Vivid release, Screwed Over. Not only does Vivid girl Savanna Sampson do an I/R scene with Mr. Marcus, the scene also includes a lengthy uncovered reverse cowgirl anal session. Very hot.
Wow, it's comments like those that make me wonder if certain companies view beauty of black performers differently than their real fans. I gotta believe there are and have been way more black performers involved in the industry since Tiffany Mason/Taya was last signed with Vivid. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I really believe there have been, and still are more than a few black performers around hot or beautiful enough to warrant signing. What's the criteria?

It's already been covered on this thread, read up a page or two.
^ I suspect that if he spelled the criteria out in detail you probably wouldn't agree with it. I don't think VIVID has a no black contract girl policy and I don't think they're intentionally ruling out ever hiring a black contract girl again. I pretty sure it's a money issue for them. I'm willing to bet that years ago when VIVID was more of a porn powerhouse and in more of a position to take chances someone decided a black contract girl would be a great idea. Heather Hunter was a success and worked out well for the company. When Heather left (or while she was there?) someone probably said "Hey,there's an audience for a black contract girl, let's get another...". Apparently, the black girls who followed Heather didn't do so well so at this point I'd think VIVID isn't totally against trying another black contract girl but the bar, standard and criteria has been raised so high for one it'll be next to impossible for a girl to meet their standards....Unless there's a sudden and huge surge in popularity of black women and VIVID sees it paying off for other companies. If that very same Heather Hunter entered porn today for the first time do you think VIVID would make her a contract girl? Do you think all the white contract girls from VIVID meet those high set standards? It's not a bad thing per se, it's business and it is what it is. Personally, I think the companies mentioned here should have at least one contract girl in their stable to attract or meet the needs/desires of the portion of their audience who'd like to see a black contract girl but perhaps through the years of looking at the numbers when they do have black girls in their movies it's proved to not be a good business choice. Who knows?
^ I know. Sorry. But this is a messageboard and people tend to chime in with their comments and opinions. Besides, the person you want to answer your question already did so and so I figured you didn't buy into so that's why I said I said what I said. Lastly, my comments were aimed moreso toward the overall conversation not so much at your comments. I just used your post as a springboard.
I apologize for implying that no one but HW had a right to respond. This is indeed an open board. I just felt his comments were pretty strong and yet was puzzled by them. Conversations on here sometimes get sidetracked or go off-topic, and I was worried the conversation would veer before Hollywood (hopefully) answered.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We really try and look for someone that will appeal to the masses, not just our taste. Usually when one decides what is beautiful, you may be way off the mark. I think a lot of different people are involved in making that decision. Someone with a personality, someone who drips with sex, someone who is really into her scenes, not just going thru the motions. Someone who wants to be involved in promoting herself. Tori Welles dripped with sex, it came out of every pore in her body, she was and still is, beautiful. He sex scenes were powerful. Every shot of her was hot. Great boxcover girl. She was every guys ultimate fantasy. That is what everyone looks for in a contract girl.
I don't work for Vivid, DP or Wicked, but I would like to add that I assume that since they make a large number of features that their contract girls also need to have the ability to act up to porn standards in their features, which I'm sure disqualifies some of the all sex actresses.
This. People keep asking about the dearth of quality content: here it is. Trying to make artistic decisions based on a profit margin. By trying to use a "formula" to make money, you're killing the artistic value of the product. By trying to make it more profitable you're making it less valuable.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Example; My father had a Hat Shop in Cleveland in the Fifties. He ordered what he liked, what he thought looked good. He had great taste. He almost went broke. When his distributor came back, he returned everything and re ordered hats that the public liked, not exactly his taste. His business picked up tremendously. We are in business to make money, if we put "artistic" girls in our movies that don't sell, we are out of business. The business model we originated 25 years ago has been adopted by other companies such as Wicked and Digital Playground, both doing very well I might add. Not only have we gone to the edge to provide artistic movies, but created a category specific to that genre, which is Vivid Alt. If you watch any Vivid movie that has come out in the last year or so, you will find B Skow is more artistic than most. Paul Thomas is the king of big budget artistic productions, which we have been doing for 20 years and winning quite a bit of awards for.
Did it ever occur to you that perhaps Vivid and whomever is involved in the decision-making process there are the ones that could possibly be "way off the mark?" It sounds like you guys are the said 'Beholders' and it's your own idea of beauty that hasn't exactly appealed to the masses in quite some time, just your own narrow tastes. But hey, what do we know; we're just the people who buy and watch the movies. By the way, your description of Tori Welles was flattering and while you may find many who will agree with you, there will always be those who do not. And you can't tell me for one second that Tori Welles is the measuring stick over there when signing girls to exclusive performer contracts. No effin' way. Because if so, it's painfully obvious that someone hasn't seen one of her movies in a VERY long time because the VAST majority of the girls you've had on the roster lately fall WAY short of the mythical standard she set. If Vivid is your dad's hat shop, you guys are still continuing to order what YOU think looks good according to your purported "great taste." Sign "hats" that the public likes and you, too, might see your business pick up. If Digital Playground and Wicked are both doing very well using the business model you created, that's one thing but I wouldn't be so quick to go patting myself on the back because your "business model" has absolutely nothing to do with their personal taste and the girls they've chosen to sign (for example, I don't see Vivid signing someone like an Adrenalynn or Katsumi in a million years). They're doing well because at the end of the day, their girls can at least flat-out perform. I know that as a hired mouthpiece for them, you're obliged to say that the Vivid girls can, too but come on, we all know the truth. It used to be Vivid's (much-hated, by the way) modus operandi to take fan favorites who had actually done their time in the gonzo trenches and then snatch them up after they had paid their dues and proven themselves and THEN signed them to contracts, to MANY fans' chagrin (Jenteal or Sunrise Adams, anyone?). Somewhere along the way, they got away from that and started debuting and signing virtually unknown talent out of nowhere and expected fans to fall in love with them without knowing jack shit about them and tossing them in a few lukewarm, tepid features to "showcase" their so-called "talents." How has this "business model" worked out for you? The Love Twins? Malezia? Meggan Mallone? Hanna Hilton? AJ Bailey? How long has it been since Vivid had a legitimate "star"? Nina Mercedez, I think, is nowhere as "big" as I thought she might eventually become when she was with you guys. Savanna Samson? Jenna Jameson? Tera Patrick? Devon? How far do we really have to go back? Janine? Julia Ann? The more names I say, the more I'm starting to realize most of these girls seemed to actually do better once they moved ON from Vivid. I mean, how do you fuck up Lanny Barbie?!?!?! Seriously. Good luck with this new chick you're about to trot out, Lia because I think she's destined to become the next Nikki Nine. An 18-year old g/g-only performer? Who the FUCK thought that'd be a good idea? Signing unknowns doesn't seem to be panning out, at least, not from a casual fan perspective. It'd be my advice, against conventional wisdom, to actually live in the past: look back and see what made you so successful and popular during the days of Chasey Lain, Raquel Darrian, Nikki Dial and Taylor Hayes. Because it's obvious you're not doing that today. And call me crazy, I swear to you that if Asia Carrera, Heather Hunter and Kobe Tai were "new" girls, just starting in the industry today, I sincerely doubt that today's regime there would be interested in signing ANY of them to contracts. Despite us all knowing now that all three are Hall of Fame performers, I know they aren't Vivid's current definition of "beauty." Now imagine how many future HOF'ers you're missing out on due to that narrow vision. Edited by - Crucifixio_Jones on 1/18/2010 6:46:28 PM

You most certainly are in titled to your opinion, although I think it is a little harsh. I think Lia will be really big. It was Lias idea to do a girl/girl first as she has never had sex with anyone on screen at all. Sorry she is not doing a double anal in her first movie. Hanna Hilton, Nikki Jayne, Sunny Leone, Savanna Samson, all current Vivid girls do extremely well. I think it is a great group. Sorry it doesn't measure up for you. To say the older girls we signed, would not be signed today is just a wacky statement. How do you know that? I am not here to argue with anyone, I unfortunately get sucked into these conversations. If you don't like Vivid, I understand. But I really don't want to go back and forth with you. You are entitled to your opinion, and I understand, I really do. I feel Vivid is doing a great job, I love the girls we have, I think the movies we are releasing are excellent, so do the reviewers on this and every other site. We try and improve our product every day. Which we have done. I am not here to convert you. People who have had an open mind and picked up a new Vivid movie have liked what they saw, and are buying more. Thanks for your comments. Edited by - heynow on 1/19/2010 12:39:07 AM

@Crucifixio_Jones I agree with alot of your previous arguements, except when you say Asia wouldn't be signed today. I totally disagree. i've rediscovered her recently, and I must say I've been extremely overwhelmed by how beautiful she was at her peak.
Edited by - teganlovessara on 1/18/2010 9:07:34 PM
Not at all. I seriously doubt if VIVID would pass on a beautiful girl who was a great performer just because she was a bad actress. Christy Canyon was a big star at VIVID and she says all the time she couldn't act at all and doesn't even like to refer to what she did as "acting".
^ Of course, I agree about Asia Carrera's beauty. She's one of my favorite porn stars of all time. And I didn't say she wouldn't be signed, I said I thought that the VIVID OF TODAY wouldn't be interested in her (and a few of the other girls I mentioned). I don't claim to know that for a fact (how on Earth could I?) but I also don't find it such a "wacky" line of thinking at all, either given their recent choices in contract girls. But hey, once again, that's just my opinion. I'm not here to argue with anyone, either. It is entirely possible to have a difference of opinion without arguing or one person trying to "convert" another (sadly, this is a concept lost on the majority of ADT posters presently). As far as things not "measuring up" for me and "sorryLiaisn't doing double anal in her first movie"...these are the types of backhanded condescending statements made around here (by a salesperson, no less) that get my goat lately. I never said that Hanna Hilton, Nikki Jayne, Sunny Leone and Savanna Samson weren't a great group of girls. They are (Savanna, especially). I never said a mean word about a single one of them. Is Vivid doing anything particularly spectacular with them in the eyes of their fans? Is Vivid's success with them on par with the contract rosters of the past? That's what's debatable. Further, I never asked for any specific acts to be done by this newbie Lia. I did, however, call into question how wise it was to sign, to an exclusive performer contract, an 18-year old girl who has never had onscreen sex before (and then let HER call the shots on what it is she wants to do right out the gate). Is that really smart? [Link]
I will say that I believe a Tori Welles (no matter what color mind you) should be the sexual standard and leave it at that. It wasn't my intention to sucker you into an argument or a personal attack, not that I believe that is what happened. You said you wanted to hear what fans and critics thought though. I realize your only one guy that can't speak for everyone in a company. So you think Vivid has had a diverse bunch of women among their roster the last say 10 years or is everyone's tastes (within the company) basically the same? Because other than Savanna, Lanni, Cassidey, and Janine, I'm just not seeing it. I mean I can't argue much with Vivid's general success, although the films don't seem as generally successful as in the past. I just feel like you guys are missing something that you used to have. And it's not so much about having a black contract star either, since it isn't high on my wish list.

Vivid has had a number of girls start off with just doing girl/girl. Sunny Leone, Janine, Julia Ann. This is not an unusual practice. Lia is one of the top girls on the internet, her Fleshlight outsells all the other girls. So if she feels comfortable starting out with a girl/girl only movie it seems to be ok with Vivid. My remarks didn't mean to be condescending towards you, I think if you look at the past success of some of the Vivid girls like Janine or Sunny, Steven Hirsch knows what he is doing. Don't you think it is a smart move to leave them wanting more? It seemed that your point was why isn't she doing more than just a g/g movie to begin with.

I think we have had a diverse group, Raylene, Jewish dark hair, to Sunny, the first Indian porn star, or one of the first, to Julia Ann, To Stephanie Morgan. I loved lanni and Cassidey. We are talking now to this new girl that is beyond hot, dark haired 24 year old with a smoking body and face. I think the thing that is missing is the Jamie Summers type, the girl that just doesn't look like she should be doing this that is doing it. I had the pleasure of finding, well she found me, Tori Welles for Vivid. I think she was one of the hottest girls in this business, ever. Everyone has different tastes. The ultimate decider is Steven.
In order for Misty to qualify as a contract Robofox she would need to upgrade? 1. heinous and bulbous breast implants 2. garish and trite tattoos 3. lobotomy Why do we want to see her ruined for some useless affirmative action "hire"? I'd rather see her stick in and go harder gonzo for Jules Jordan or Vince Voyuer; even Red LIght/Platinum. I would be first in line for a Misty STone Ass Worship boxcover release.
I can't really say Vivid's gameplan is paying off. I mean how many girls(most of them new) in the last 3 or so years have they lost or just not done anything with that they felt "deserving" of a contract. Stefani Morgan, Lanny Barbie, Megan Mallone, Hanna Hilton. I know there are more. I just got a mental block. Anyways, it sounds like its time to change up the gameplan. Lia's success remains to be seen. *****The Dr. of Nasty*****

I knew that was coming. Just as an aside I would not touch her, see is pretty darn perfect the way she is. I think you should check out B Skows reviews if not his movies and see he is shooting so pretty hardcore stuff. Everything that is in Jules movies is in his movies. BTW one of Jules first movies was Devon the Lost footage released by none other than Vivid.

Lia 19 is the biggest internet girl online right now. Her Fleshlight out sells Tera Jenna Haze and everyone elses. We want a girl that hasn't shot for other companies ideally. A girl that hasn't ever been seen is a golden nugget. Lia is really cute, has a great personality and will be a great addition.

^ He used generalities like "ask SOME questions" and "look for a combination of things." You are the one reaching to imply that there is some rigid, unchanging pattern at work. I understand that Howard is performing in the role that Oren once gleefully filled for this board, but making such a stretch for the sake of prolonging an argument seems more akin to Porn Stars Not Doing Interracial Is ILLEGAL than ADT at its best.
What are you talking about? I'm not reaching for anything. Nor am I trying to prolong anything. I am just stating that it sounds like his posts are contradicting each other. In the first quote he uses generalities, but in the second quote he clearly states what his company is looking for. If they were indeed following that criteria he listed, it makes no sense to contract a girl who has "never had sex with anyone on camera ever". He just gave his reasons for it and that is fine. On another note I have no idea why you feel the need to come to his defense with me. What are you his tag team partner?! There are plenty of other people who are actually attacking the guy, his company and trying to pick fights with him. Maybe you should concern yourself with them instead. I'm not trying to carry on an argument with anybody on here. There are much better things to do with my day. I personally could care less what you two do with your respective companies. I just wanted to clear that up and to toss it out there to him that it sounds like he's contradicting himself. *****The Dr. of Nasty*****
Wow. Contract = lobotomy? That was really low - just...wow. I've definitely had my periods where I was an unhappy consumer but I've never had this festering hatred for porn that some people display here. I will never understand why someone would spend their time participating in discussions on topics where they have zero respect/interest/like for anyone involved. Life is too short. Just move on. Spend your time doing something you like. I'm wondering how many of "The Others" are in our midst. Quite a few n00bs are awfully cynical and snarky as of late.

I agree. In fact, in another thread I was commiserating with Hollywood Woody about that very subject. I think a lot of people stopped taking their Thorazine in the last couple of months and it shows in their rude comments!

Boy you got that right, there are plenty of other people attacking me here, and i do not feel you are one of them. I do not know who DM/PR is. He is not my tag team partner, although sometimes I feel I could use one on here. I would like to know who DM/PR is though. He sounds like a pretty good guy. I know he has taken a hiatus from ADT and i would like to know why. Probably for the same reasons I was thinking about it. I don't know who Oren is either.

Thank Jesus, so it isn't just me. I really think the level of discussion here has turned downright mean in some instances. I came on here to really help our product improve through suggestions from the fans here. Most are really great, fans and suggestions. I have taken all of them to the higher ups and they have acted upon them. The reviews Vivid has received in the last 6 months here have been really great. A lot of people who stopped watching Vivid have started again, and I thank them all for the opportunity to be one of their companies they buy from. You are a good moderator and a fair gal. I tip my hat to you. Edited by - hollywood woody on 1/19/2010 11:21:09 PM
I'm surprised you pay it much attention. I see you sometimes get attacked but quite frankly the things you say are normal and expected for a guy in your position. You work for VIVID and you probably like the like the company and the stuff they do. You defend the people who work there because you know most of them personally and think they're good people. It would be crazy to expect you not to say the stuff you say. You're working for a company you like so of course you're going to bias. VIVID puts out a certain type of movie that stars a certain type of girl having a ceratin type of sex that appeals to a certain type of audience. Except for a few of their pornstars I'm not particularly a fan of VIVID in general but just because I don't like what VIVID generally does, doesn't mean VIVID doesn't do what they do well. It's perfectly fine that VIVID doesn't generally make the type of movies I like because there's more than enough of stuff I like being produced elsewhere. VIVID has that audience who wants that type of movie and if that crowd is big enough to support VIVID they should keep doing what they do. However...I still think they should have a black contract star in their roster because I'm betting by not having one they aren't serving a part of their audience or attracting new people to that audience. They don't need one but it would be a nice thing to have and offer. In a case like this it's not about meeting a quota but offering up alternatives and variety. I also think whatever those supposed high standards are that are in place that have kept black women from becoming VIVID contract girls for this long perhaps need to be relaxed a bit because they're probably letting great talent pass them by looking/waiting for this near perfect girl that probably doesn't exist. Especially since in my opinion most of the non-black girls they choose to become contract girls can't possibly be held to that same criteria.

Thank you for your comments. You make a lot of sense. I saw that girl misty on here, she is certainly someone who would qualify. Except for the fact that she shot 91 movies. Of course someone wrote in that we would ruin her. I think that is simply not true. I hope to find someone this year. It would be a great addition.
