Of course it doesn't contain real HD quality. A double layer Blu-ray can only hold 50 gigabytes of data that's way too little space for 24 hours of HD video. My guess is they just took their usual crap material and upscaled it. That way it probably takes up a bit more space than on DVD but it has the same picture quality. So basically it's not a Blu-ray but an ultra extended standard DVD and they should advertise it that way. Instead they count on customers being stupid enough and try to rip them off by telling them it's a Blu-ray. They even go that far to complain about the high prices of other companies' Blu-rays. Ridiculous. I used to think that we might see some compilations like that but only in the very distant future not so early. But Sunshine apparently try to make use of any opportunity that presents themselves to rip off their customers. Edited by - Prophit on 7/20/2008 2:34:28 AM Edited by - Prophit on 7/20/2008 2:35:51 AM
Hi,Sunshine ? haha ... they could give their dvds away for free i wouldn´t want to have them. Sunshine and their comps is just another word for crap Cube P.S: @Flash above my post :) i bet you are right ... why "upscale" it if it´s already on a BR disk :) --- and another thing that will probably happen also ... back when CDs were introduced ... almost everyone thought CD equals "best quallity money can buy" ... then a lot of comanies released their LPs on CD without even editing why does everyone seem to think this isn´t gonna happen with BR too ? The economical factor is a strong one too ... prices are going up almost every day now ... people are not getting paid more ... gas prices and prices for energy in general are klimbing and there is no stop . People will think twice about buying a new toy that might be garbage in a not to distant future. The best place for money is a pillow ... think about it
Strictly going by what's mentioned and quoted here, they didn't actually lie. It really is a Blue Ray disc. It just isn't High-Def. It also probably costs about the same as a typical "new release", but not a typical "new release" from their company. They actally use the new technology to do what they've always done...Put out cheap quality compilations at a cheap price.
This may be silly and obvious to many of you but I have no idea and have to ask because I've never heard it mentioned before... How does a "regular" DVD look when played on Blue Ray compared to being played on "regular" DVD players? Is it better, worse or the same or can it be played at all?
It probably wouldn't have made any difference if more porn companies went to HD DVD. I may be wrong but my understanding is that at one point HD DVD players were the dominate seller with many more people buying them than Blue-Ray. But...Blue-Ray movies sold much better. Why? Because many people already had Blue-Ray players in their homes: Their Sony Playstations. With so many people already having the technology to play Blue -Ray and many more buying Playstations all the time HD DVD just couldn't catch up even though they were the preferred technology for people who didn't own Playstations.
I doubt the Sunshine customer will quibble over SD vs. HD. The selling point is: 24hrs of porn!!!. I could see a market for the long-play SD porn packaged in BR format. We could have proper collection of vintage and classic video loops for example. Today's 1hr helter-skelter poorly-executed Diamond Collection or Swedich Erotica DVD's are not much more "ethical" than Sunshine marketing tactics, IMO.
Personally I think Microsoft made a big mistake not to include a HD-DVD player in their 360. It pretty much sucked you had to buy it seperate while the PS3 came with a BR player. If all the 360 buyers had a HD-DVD player also they sure would give the format a big boost.

The Hi-Def codec for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray takes a lot more space than MPEG-type codecs. The extra space available on Blu-Ray is NEEDED to be able to fit the inflated file size for the movie. There won't be much more space available for extras than was previously available if the correct codec is used. It would be nice to use Blu-Ray disc space for standard def file sizes. ;)
While that's definitely true for current Blu-ray discs, things will likely change in the future. Different companies are working on increasing the number of layers on Blu-ray discs in order to allow for more storage. In June, Pioneer engineers have demonstrated an optical disc with 16 data layers, yielding a capacity of 400 GB. Moreover, since it's engineered to work with specifications such as numerical aperture (NA) that jibe with the Blu-ray standard, the disc is purported to be compatible with Blu-ray. While I don't think that we will be seeing movies on 400GB Blu-ray discs for quite a while, I think that 75 or 100GB (3 or 4 layer) discs may not be too far off. The other thing that companies will be able to do with Blu-ray discs (once profile 2.0 players are available) is online content that is interactive with the disc. There will be nothing to stop a movie studio (mainstream or porn) from storing content on their own servers and allowing the consumers of their Blu-ray product to access that content through their Blu-ray player. With profile 2.0, extras that can be associated with a disc, but aren't physically stored on that disc are only limited by the amount of disc space on the studio's server.
That's incorrect. VC-1 and AVC are much more efficient codecs than MPEG2. High definition video just takes up more space because the amount of data is higher. To say there isn't much space left for extras in comparison to what we are used to from standard DVD might be true for mainstream movies. But I have yet to come across a porn movie in HD that is bigger than 25 gb in file size so there should be plenty of headroom left. Porn movies usually don't have the high bitrates and obviously no high bitrate lossless audio tracks that take up most of the space on mainstream movies. Edited by - Prophit on 7/20/2008 4:29:11 PM
I think that will change when Evil Angel & Jules Jordan start releasing Blu-ray discs. My guess is that many of the titles that currently take up two standard DVD's, which often are as long as 3.5 - 4 hours long, will be put onto a single Blu-ray disc. When that happens, there won't be much space left on the discs.
Don´t wanna argue :) if any company want to release their 2-Disc-sets as a 1-Disc-set they could release them as DVD-18 but i guess it´s to expensive plus you can not have anything printed on the "front" side. Anabolic used to release some titles as DVD-10 which had english version on one side and spanish on the other side Cube Edited by - cubesnake on 7/20/2008 5:43:34 PM
Deep Throat was technically released in HD but only as a Windows Media File or whatever it's called. I can see the possibility of Deep Throat or Debbie Does Dallas as they both have prints that were recently cleaned up but I haven't seen a print of The Opening of Misty Beethoven worth putting on Blu-ray in a long time and with the way VCA has been handling their classic library I doubt they will bother to locate nor clean up a film master.

Ok guys get with the technology aite first just because something is on DVD9 or even DVD5 doesnt mean it isnt HD I have many full length movies in 1080P down to 720P that fit just fine on a DVD9. The AVCHD (H.264) encoding is the key, it can offer extremely high quality video and audio at much lower bitrates than standard dvd does. the whole purpose of blu ray and hd-dvd is (was in the case of hd-dvd) to provide copy protection...much more so than extra storage. on a 1080P HDTV I have a copy of I Robot on DVD9 that you cannot tell the difference from the bluray disk. It doesnt have the extras but it proves the point. as anyone who has a PS3 can tell you. the future is in downloadable delivery the actual disks are already pretty much outdated.
I have a PS3 and still believe in receiving a physical object. I still pay extra for the disc when ordering software instead of just getting the download.
Let's see, one of the biggest HD porn movies released so far is Girlvana 3. It's 27 gigabytes on HD DVD (on two discs) and it runs 4 hours and 11 minutes. All material on this movie is in High Def including the extras. While it got very close to exceeding the space available on HD DVD it takes up only half the space that is available on Blu-ray. That means at this bitrate and quality (and Girlvana does have very good picture quality) up to 8 hours of High Def material might be possible on Blu-ray. Edited by - Prophit on 7/21/2008 2:19:42 AM
I know, so what? Porn companies will have to release movies on double layer BD sooner or later. If they can keep up high prices (which they probably won't) it's not that big a deal. And eventually it won't be that big a deal either because production costs will decrease. Edited by - Prophit on 7/21/2008 3:35:39 AM
Well Paying $50 for the Latest Jules release isn't something I want to do. But the bigger problem I see is that all the flaws of the girls that DvD's don't show will be revealed.I think that would hurt porn far more than helping it. What if Alexis Texas has a lot stumble on her ass. That would diffently would make watching her vid a lot less exciting. See that big ass with stumble bouncing up and down. Not what I would picture as quality porn. You can't air brush Blu - Ray. LOL. Hi Def isn't always the best.
My argument to this has always been... if someone invited you to come watch a porn shoot in person, would you say no because the girls might look too real? HD: It's the next best thing to being there.
Reality and fantasy are 2 different things. I see real girls all the time, But when I'm paying for porn, I like to suspend reality and going into fantasy. As far as being invited on a porn set, it would all depend on the girl and what my role on the set would be. Standing around watching while others ppl are having sex wouldn't be all that exciting. But if I would like get to ask her some questions I might actually be interested.
Of course you don't. I mean how many Bentley's does Jordan wants to buy from our hard earned money? $50 is insane for a BR movie!
I don't agree with you here. I want to see everything the way it is, including the flaws, that makes porn actually more interesting! That's the great thing about HiDef, what you see is what you get, no airbrushing shit, it's better that way. And come on I didn't buy a Full HD (1080p) tv and a Monster HDMI cable so I can watch porn still on DVD ;-)

And you my friend are WRONG WRONG WRONG the entire concept of HD has drm built into it from the ground up, most companies arent enforcing it yet but they will and when they do its game over. If you dont believe me...read up on HDMI and HDCP or if you have a PS3 put a copy of a game into it and try to play it....actually dont...your PS3 will turn itself into a boat anchor. Just like satellite TV and cable TV before it its the old boiling the frog routine...a bit at a time. Enjoy it while you can....
I don't mind DRM as long as I own the movie when I buy/download it and I can play it on any player in my house I want! There are some websites that let you download their DRM movies but you have to keep being a member to watch the movies. Once you're not a member anymore you can't watch the movies anymore. That really sucks! That's why I never ever join sites that are using DRM for their pics and movies!
@MikeSouth: I don't doubt the inevitability of widespread use of neutered crippled DRM-laden download-only strings-attached rent-it-forever-but-own-it-never content distribution. You have hammered this point here and in other threads. I get it. But my main point is that it is NOT inevitable that everybody will automatically join in and go with the flow like good little sheep. When the time comes that the industry says: "Take it or leave it", there will be a significant number who will choose to leave it.
If the industry is smart they won't use the take it or leave it attitude. There are still companies selling VHS. Are they really going to throw away customers by still offering DVD, which last I knew was cheaper to manufacture than VHS?

believe me theres plenty about it I dont like as well, but just like cable TV and satelitte Tv it will come to pass, and not because people have a choice, but because they dont. Look no farther than Microsoft...you cant buy XP anymore and theres a reason for that, Vista has the same capability to recognize unauthorized copies that the PS3 does. Right now the burner is on off but the frogs (us) are in the pan of water, and the lid is on it.

well I dont DRM my pics or movies but lemme ask you this do you subscribe to HBO, Showtime, Cinemax? Ever bought a pay per view?? do you subscribe to cable TV? as it sits now adult website subscriptions are a lot like subscribing to hustler magazine for a month then Hustler sends you every back issue ever printed. Over time that's going to change
I live in Holland, I can't subscribe to those channels but I buy all HBO shows on DVD: The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Carnivale and The Wire for example. I don't want to watch my favorite shows only, I want to own my favorite shows on DVD so I can watch them over and over again when I want to. I buy all my favorite tv shows on DVD and I don't watch them whey they show it on tv because I can't stand the commercials and the tv logo on the screen.
yepp, me for instance. I´d rather stop buying anything that makes me uncomfortable before i swallow something i don´t want to. Same with XP. If my XP (or Mainboard) should die on me one day and a new mainboard should not work with XP due to lack of some drivers that wil be the day i might say hi to the penguin. Hello MS ... i ain´t gonna buy ASTA LA VISTA got it ... sorry that shitty OS always drives me nuts. and about what Mike S said ... i hope i didn´t hear him say that SONY has some kind of "hardwarenuke" build into their PS3 (not that i would care i don´t have one) that kills it if the wrong disk should be inserted. This would be just another reason not to buy that crap Cube Edited by - cubesnake on 7/21/2008 7:44:31 PM
Well Downloading DRM crippled movies isn't something I want to do or pay for. I want DRM free Movies and the download speeds have to be lightning fast. No more than 5 mins for a full Length Movie.

thats exactly what I said...and its no secret Vista can do it too...and so can Linux it all comes down to your HDTV or monitor They are all HDCP compliant now, ditto the video cards I suggest you read up on what that means.
Like all copy protection, HDCP is easily defeated. If the standard is ever enforced the only people it will hurt are legitimate paying customers. Eventually all the abused customers will stop buying. Game over. Golden goose dead. No more Hollywood millionaires.
I could live with not working but turning it into electronic waste is way to overboard. How would they know if a disk would be inserted by choice or accident ? Cube
Well I hope you get your Wish. All those Gaping videos in Hi DE. Then you actually get to see some of the shit that she was able to flush out before teh scene. LOL.
Not really. The point I'm making is that I want to own movies, I want to see them on my shelves in a box with a boxcover. I don't want all my porn hidden on my harddrive, where's the fun in that? Btw, yesterday I watched a Kick Ass Production movie on my DVD player and I thought it looked a little blurry, then I put the same disc in my PS3 and I was blown away how much improvement the upscaling actually does, the difference in quality was mind blowing!
I'm more into what you see is what you get. The sharper the movie the better and that's why I want to upgrade from DVD to BR, it's better that way!

HDCP isnt easily defeated , matter of fact you might cheat it a little while, but it wont last, remember the sat TV defeats? key word being....remember
