I don't know if there's a story behind it, but for some reason productions at Shane's World seemed to drop off after 2007 and their last title seems to College Invasion 13 in 2012.
The title of this thread has two meanings:
1) Is Shane's World truly dead as a producer of porn?
2) If they are completely dead, has the industry changed too much for their porn themes to be successfully resurrected by another company?
By that I mean their trademark concept, "MTV's The Real World meets gonzo porn." I still see plenty of pro/am porn scenes and porn scenes where an unscripted orgy is filmed with handheld cameras, but none of it has the Real World documentary feel, at least partly because of the switch from selling DVD's "albums" containing a sequence of scenes, to online selling of individually downloadable "tracks" that must stand on their own and are shot that way. The better Shane's World titles were basically a group of college-aged male and female porn stars on a road trip -- you see them hanging out at the motel, you see them eating at Subway, you see them riding in the van together to the shoot, you see them fuck amateurs they encounter, you see them go back to the motel and fuck each other. And they seemed to be a bunch of young people HAVING FUN as a group while doing it.
