Have you looked at Apple TV? It appears to connect to an hdmi port on your TV, but is wifi so can join in to your home network, so you can access your files and stream. At least that's what I think it does. I am trying to figure a way to get vids from my desktop to my Vizio, and that's where I am in researching it.
I don't know what the screen looks like, I don't know how you navigate your computer's desktop, don't know if it's mouse compatible or wireless keyboard compatible. That info is hard to find, though I have not been to an apple store to ask a "genius" there.
