That's according to Anna Pulley at Salon.com. So porn companies can stop making sh*tty romace porn. Yea!

It's her quoting a study rather than necessarily expressing her own view, but the implication that women only like what you call 'sh*tty romance porn (this is an adult forum so you can actually say 'shitty'!) isn't borne out by her article which says:-
"What Kind of Porn Women Like
You’ve no doubt heard the expression “different strokes for different folks,” and this applies to the porn-watching habits of women, which are just as diverse as the habits of men (except when it comes to teen MILF wifes, obviously). But as with anything, some trends have emerged. If you’re trying to get your ladyfriend to watch porn with you, you should avoid cum shots above the neck, overt fakeness (women tend to like porn that looks/feels “real”), porn with no storyline (though please, no more Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Bone), and porn with no foreplay. While softer images, lighting and music are a theme, this isn’t to say women can’t get down with more hardcore action. According to sex columnist Violet Blue, female director Candida Royalle’s hard-core erotic videos, which are made for women viewers, sell at the rate of approximately 10,000 copies a month"
Now I'll let the women rip into this thread!

Who actually knows what kind of porn women watch alone(besides women) but I would assume it can be different from porn they would watch as a couple.

Sadly, given the world we live in now, most men don't pay for their porn either. So porn companies can stop making sh*tty gonzo porn too I guess.

"According to CCBill, the billing service most commonly used by the online adult industry, only 2 percent of all subscriptions to pornography sites are made on credit cards with women’s names."
1) Basing the claim on names alone is a pretty flawed approach. Many names are not gender exclusive
2) Plenty of people have joint accounts so the idea that women aren't paying for porn because it was billed to a "man's" name is pretty tenuous.
3) This is only talking about subscriptions to websites. There are plenty of other ways to pay for and consume porn.
4) Can we please go a day around here without another one of these "I don't like X, so they should stop making all forms of X" threads? Who gives a shit if somebody out there likes romance porn? Clearly somebody is paying for it so if you don't like it, don't fucking watch it and your problem is solved.

Exactly, the vast majority of people don't pay for porn these days. Another dumb article from Salon that misses the obvious.

So the romance porn bit is funny. But I don't think you can just shrug off the 2% number from the biller.

A. So because CCBill doesn't get many cards in women's names that is enough to say women don't pay for their porn. That is a rather poor study.
B. And you are saying that only women buy romance (I assume that is what romace porn is) porn. I see no study for that one.
C. Yet that must get shot down then because if (A.) is true then men must be paying for romance porn. Porn companies don't make porn that doesn't make money, and since they make romance porn and according to your bad study women don't pay for porn so therefore men must be buying romance porn.
D. Why do you care if romance porn is made. If you hate it don't buy it. You can't possibly buy all the porn made each month so why does it matter if they make romance porn. If you do obtain all the porn made each month, you must not be paying for your porn.
E. If you are getting all the porn made each month, (A.) says you are likely a woman then, which by (B.) means you must like romance porn which makes me wonder why you want it gone.

All the critiques I might have made have already been made, regarding the OP and the method of the study.
The OP seems anxious or upset that romance porn exists, which is a little perplexing. Unresolved feelings about women and femininity is my best guess.

Just wanna add this. Some seem to be confusing "women don't seem to pay for porn" with "women don't seem to watch porn". I do think the CCBill is good proof because even if a large number of women watch the porn that their male partners purchase, it still doesn't mean they're paying for their porn. I don't care about this romance porn discussion though.

P.S. I read the book they cite. It was published in 2012 (and the methods used have been criticized as cherry picking and pseudoacademic etc). That means the results are probably four years old, at best, which is about a decade in porn years. I would be interested to see what CC billers turn up these days, but even then (as noted) the name on a CC doesn't really tell us all that much. I wish we had a better way to gather data on porn consumption.
The 2008 study mentioned in #2 has also been criticized (along with many other arousal studies) for measuring women's arousal in ways that attempt to mirror men's and doesn't necessarily measure female arousal at all. Part of that criticism is even hinted at in the segment where they note women were not aware of their arousal.
And finally, wow that's a terrible article. Where are the citations for what types of porn women like to watch? Porn with no foreplay?? What does that even mean?
(Did anyone link the article? Here it is.)

Ha, funny. Women are known haters of porn. My guess is unresolved feelings of hate for men. Anyone who looks at the violent relationships of men and women constantly making news knows it's a love hate relationship. If it were not for sex, I think they would have very little to do with each other. But porn is and always was for men. Women just are not visual creatures when it comes to sex. Men are. Women are into sounds. Words have conquered more women than wars. They scream when having sex because they like the sound of their own voices. But it's in their nature. As for not making money with bad porn, very little overhead in keeping a porn site with films already made. There are some real dogs out there.

Did it occur to the people who shaped this report with selected facts that there may be a large part of the female population that has porn purchased for them by their partners and is watched together?
Did it occur to these same people that a portion of the female population may use their partners credit cards to purchase their porn?
As was pointed out concisely by Jackie Treehorn, Someone is paying for it or else the companies wouldn't keep making it.

I think it's probably statistically insignificant the women with men's names or women who use boyfriends for porn. There are probably many women that go along with it so their boyfriend shuts the fuck up about it.

^Enjoy watching it together, sure thing. The women being the ones to pay for it(which again has the CCBill study against it. Some are now reaching with stuff like 'oh they just use their men's credit cards to buy porn')? Just lol. Nope.

So He doesn't think that there are unified households and budgets? Contrary to his sheltered views, there are such things. Men often leave all planning to women and the reverse is common as well.
Sexism alive and well in the 21st century.

If a married couple pay for porn from a joint account, it doesn't matter which one of them clicked the "purchase" button. They both paid for it.
The CCBill numbers aren't a study in themselves and the conclusions drawn by the OP here, and the author both require leaps of logic. As I mentioned above, porn isn't exclusive to websites, which accounts for most of CCBill's services so even if their flawed methodology did result in meaningful numbers (which to be clear, it didn't) they would still only be indicative of website subscriptions and not overall porn purchases. Even if CCBill could actually prove (and not guess) the gender of all their customers and it turned out to be 100% male that still wouldn't be enough to conclude that women don't pay for porn.
If you wanted to say that fewer women pay for porn compared to men, I think that would be a reasonable conclusion based on the CCBill anecdote, but anything beyond that is a stretch.

Neither DVD retailers or the big VOD sites (AEBN, Hotmovies, etc.) use CCBill, so it's by definition not a good sample of porn buyers.

I am sorry to hear you have met these types of women in your life and not experienced many other types of women. Yes, there are plenty of women like this, however, there are plenty that are not. I hope things turn around for you in the future; there is a wonderful world of women out there if you have the energy to attract them.
what is interesting, is there are men who are haters of porn or have unresolved hate for women. I would never blanket that on all men. Because you know, humanity is quite diverse if you take time to look around.
In all seriousness, our view of the "opposite sex" usually directly correlates with who the majority of relationship experiences are with. If this fella has been attracting a porn hating man hating woman for most of his life, I can understand why he feels this way. We can always hope that someone who feels this way gets the opportunity to have better experiences in the future.
PS - the vast majority of legislators who have actively tried to attack porn, have been male.

Gosh, how many threads have I gone on about this point. People think the entire world of porn needs to be producing what they want and everything else should be expunged from production. It isn't just the OP, this is all over ADT in rather alarming numbers.
I guess the idea of "watch what you enjoy, and ignore what you don't enjoy" is a tough one for people to fathom. Instead of jerking off to what you enjoy, your blood has to boil with the knowledge that somewhere, someone is filming a porn scene you won't want to watch yourself.

One more thought.....
Most people who are getting porn on the internet are pirating it.....
So, "people generally don't pay for porn".
The only reason you can skew this as women, is just by the simple numbers that less women get porn than their male counterparts. Which, doesn't really mean much.

Men don't pay for high heels or dresses because their female partners buy it either. If they share some finances it doesn't change that he pays for something he wants and she pays for something she wants, they have seperate interests and in general a woman's personal payments does not include porn. The CCBill stats are simply too staggering. At only 2% it's crazy, it would be different if it was atleast 15-20%.
Time for the other side to post some evidence and not assumptions. Lets see proof what percentage of women have names that can appear male(lol @ still using this one) and in how many cases a male pays for porn, his woman is telling him she'll pay him back later or something(can't be proven anyway).

"Website subscriptions" (what CCBill deals with) ≠"Porn"
No one here or in the article referenced by the OP has made any attempt to prove that women don't buy porn. If anything they've done a poor job of proving that people with typically female names don't buy porn website subscriptions who process through CCBill.
CCBill isn't the only card processor, not by a long shot. I noticed that the manwin/mindgeek/whateverthefuckthey'recallednow biggest show in town for web content doesn't use CCBill.
Who does use CCBill for that matter? Does their customer base closely resemble the makeup of the porn industry as a whole? If it doesn't, then once again their numbers are pretty meaningless outside the context of "People who buy porn that is processed through CCBill"
The claim made by the article is similarly wrong (and offensive) as suggesting that Latino people don't pay for Mexican food because only a small percentage of credit cards processed at Del Taco have Latino sounding names.

This is only anecdotal and you are welcome to tell me I am wrong. However, my impression is most people who pirate content (movies, music, porn ) are men. Women seem to be more likely to think about it and pay for things out of respect for the product and who is making it. Always exceptions, however, if we are talking in majorities, I think women are more likely to pay for content that you can also get through piracy.

It's all over porn fandom, not just ADT. Any porn website with comment sections is testament to that - there can be 9 out of 10 scenes serving the same fetish (facials, anal, blondes, whatever), and you can bet there's somebody on the 10th scene with a profanity-laden complaint about that scene lacking it.

At the risk of furthering another stereotype, most of the "efficient" ways of pirating porn (if you're looking for specific stuff, e.g. current releases, rather than tubesite-style instant gratification with random scenes) require a certain level of tech savvy and time investment nowadays, and men are probably more likely to make that tradeoff versus just spending money to get the stuff in legit ways.

Pertinent to this discussion:
Why Women Are Obsessed With Tumblr Porn. These articles seem to have been prompted by a journal article about women and gif porn, Giffing a Fuck: Non-Narrative Pleasures in Participatory Porn Cultures and Female Fandom. (As always, email me for a copy).
There's a Problem With Tumblr GIF Porn That We Don't Talk About. (Spoiler: the problem is that the host sites don't pay for the material they turn into GIFs and make profit from).
'To a degree, Chase is correct: Collecting and curating porn GIFs can be a form of creative expression, not to mention hot as hell. But the process of passing around content that's been curated and not attributed to the people who created it isn't necessarily more "ethical" than that of, say, a mainstream tube site.
Further, the whole phenomenon of "free" porn allows people to hide behind their own discomforts with commercial sex specifically, as well as sexualities in general.
"I think that free, in this context, is appealing because it means one can enjoy erotic content without feeling guilty about supporting the porn industry, which is potentially or actually gross in many people's eyes," Obsession explained.
One of the most frequently touted ways to support artists and workers in today's world is by paying them. But while people seem to be OK with supporting mainstream artists by paying for streaming music services and concert tickets, they don't typically grant porn the same respect — in large part because, culturally, we continue to have a problem with it.'

Of course, nobody here has thought there are men with female sounding names or who use their girlfriend's charge cards. You bet men buy porn! Billions of dollars worth. But that probably doesn't come close to what women spend on clothes and make-up.

Torrenting is incredibly easy, essentially download the freeware and you're ready to go. Most younger women I know torrent as regularly as anyone else their age. It is more a question of age rather than gender.

So no woman pays for her food , or better they all prostitute themselves to their husband for food and sex and are actually seeking out some alimony when they finally got divorced and will still pay for porn with their (ex) husband account?
Out of jokes and being serious , I for first don't use CCbill I prefer Epoch , any issue I had with CCbill stayed unresolved , any issue I had with Epoch I could fix,
Also how about those anonymous prepaid cards? Do you think any woman would use their actual name or even recognize they are women?
I don't think so

Not sure... my take is he has attracted these particular types of females throughout his dating and relationship life so has his vision of women skewed by it. I think that is natural for a lot of humans to do when it comes to opinions of the opposite sex. He could be making it up to get a rise, however, there are plenty of people who after a long string of a certain type of relationship get bitter and closed minded. I see plenty of women doing the whole "why are all guys players or all guys douchebags" stuff without asking why they keep dating guys like that and ignoring all the other wonderful men out there. However, this is their experience so it is highly biased. Maybe like our PIV guy here.
