I've been trying to reach www.xonair.com for several days but the site seems down and I tried an email as well but I only got an error email back. Anybody knows what is going on? [link removed: Site is gone]

Thanks for checking! But...I don't know if that is good or bad info for me :-).
I have no problem with any other sites. I can browse internet. What could be the problem? I have visited xonair before without problems. I will try to check the firewall if there are any blocks. Any ideas what it could be?

I have checked the firewall and I can't find any problems there. I tried a few things with the firewall but no change.
Could it be they have several servers and I happen to be connecting to one (same one all the time) that is down?
Could it be some new software download that has created the problem (Microsoft or other)?

Is this their email address?
coustomerservices@xonair.com
I sent an email to that address asking about their web site but I got this error message back from MAILER-DAEMON@mail.ideamax.com:
"Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mail.ideamax.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
:
Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

I'm not having any problems with their site, I'm guessing that you shouldn't have an o in the beginning of coustomerservices@xonair.com as I would expect it to be customerservices.
According to their site you'd want to use info@[link removed: Site is gone]

Thanks for checking!
Well you are probably right about the "o" (didn't see that myself) but the thing is that this is the exact email address from where I have received emails from xonair. Maybe done on purpose from their side to avoid answers by email (I think they use an interactive problem ticket system on their site.)?
However, I still don't understand why I can't access their site.
I have found some log data in the firewall that is a bit suspisious. I'll check into this more.

Is this also a xonair web site?
http://www.xonairtgp.com/
Anyway, I can't acess that one either.
I'm trying to use "whois" etc to find alternative web addresses but no luck so far. Any help here is much appreciated as I'm an amateur on this stuff.
I've also emailed xonair at info@xonair.com but no answer yet.
Anyone from Sweden here that can check the site to see if the site is available here in Sweden?
I guess I will have to ask my internet provider tomorrow if they can reach the site. Hope they are not sensitive on porn :-).

I have now connected an old laptop to the internet with old setup explorer etc but the result is the same, no access to xonair! Very strange!

According to their site, "Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Pacific Coast Time." They are closed at the current time so you won't be getting a response until tomorrow.

Have you tried a traceroute?

No, I haven't.
I don't even know what a traceroute is :-). But from the name I can imagine what it does.

Found some info about traceroute and performed one and from line 5 it keeps saying "request timed out" (translated from swedish).
Hmm. what can this be caused by? Does it mean the internet provider is preventing me from reaching the site?
Or is this specific server down? (64.208.37.6)

Depending on where the timeout occurs it could be your ISP or an upstream provider. When I've had problems like this in the past it's usually due to a router malfunction at an upstream provider. If you post the results of the traceroute here we can help you diagnose it.

I think you are right. I was unable to copy the traceroute I did myself but I ran one on an external web site who has this function and the result was:
1 nada-gw-222 (130.237.222.2) 0.620 ms 0.502 ms 0.315 ms
2 cn6-nada-p2p.gw.kth.se (130.237.211.213) 0.494 ms 0.361 ms 0.310 ms
3 a1g-cn6-p2p.gw.kth.se (130.237.0.1) 0.460 ms 0.459 ms 0.442 ms
4 c2sth-ae0-1001.sunet.se (193.11.0.197) 0.536 ms 0.505 ms 0.482 ms
5 se-tug.nordu.net (193.10.68.37) 0.917 ms 0.922 ms 0.910 ms

So it seems there are some malfunction somewhere. Question is where.
I'm learning quite a lot here having to find the cause of the problem.....that's the good thing about my problem.
Thanks for the help!

That traceroute looks like your packets are making it to XonAir. They might have a firewall that blocks the ICMP packets that are used in a traceroute. It looks like the problem is with XonAir and not some other company in between. IdeaMax is the corporate name for XonAir.

Ok, so from the external web site it seems ok then. So the time out there is probably because of a firewall, ok.
I did get a different result when I ran traceroute on my computer. It does not reach Ideamax. As far as I can see it does not leave or come past my ISP.
Also I am unable to copy the result from the traceroute I did on my computer. Is the result stored anywhre? Can it be copied or stored? Can you add a tag to Tracert to save the trace?
I have asked my ISP for help but so far no news from them. Also, I have not received any answer on my email to Xonair yet.
Does it sound logical that I can not reach xonair but from the external web site (when I run the tracert) it reaches xonair. (The external website is based in Sweden). Or should we both have the same result or is it depending on the ISP?

It would be different. The packets flowing from your computer to ideamax would be different than the path from the site in Sweden. If your traceroute never makes it to to the ideamax router then the problem is with the handoff between the last reported IP address and the one that doesn't respond.
How are you running your tracert? Command prompt on a Windows system? If that's the case you should be able to right click your mouse, select the "Mark" option, and then hold down the mouse button and select a whole range of text from the window. Then you can paste the selected text. Or as an alternative just do a screenshot and upload it as an image. Try to keep the image less than 800 pixels wide so it doesn't get resized on our end and become unreadable.

Thanks for clearing the matter up!
I have run tracert with "run" and in the command prompt as well. Now after your input (thanks a lot!) I managed to copy the result: (I omitted line 1-2)
Spårar väg till www.xonair.com [64.208.37.6]
över högst 30 hopp:
3 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms s-b3-link.telia.net [80.91.249.250]
4 6 ms 5 ms 6 ms global-ic-120468-s-b1.c.telia.net [213.248.77.214]
5 * * * Begäran gjorde timeout.
6 * * * Begäran gjorde timeout.
7 * * * Begäran gjorde timeout.
8 * * * Begäran gjorde timeout.
9 * * *
I have forwarded this result to the ISP. To me it looks like it never leaves Telia (my ISP)
Can we investigate this further or is it now a matter for the ISP?

It looks like the problem lies in the handoff between Telia.net and glbx.net. Usually routers will detect these kinds of problems and adjust their routing tables if they are configured properly. This isn't a problem that you're going to be able to fix. Hopefully your ISP is telia.net. If it is you should be able to report this to their Network Operations Center. I'm sure they would appreciate it.

Thanks a lot to you Drew Black! You've been very helpful!
I will let them know where you think the problem is.
I hope Telia solves this real quick now. Xonair had a sale on Digital Playground HDDVD's. I bet when I get the connection back the sale is over...my usual luck :-)
Thanks again!!
EDIT: Oh, and I'm very curious on how you managed to find exactly where the problem was. That is something i would like to learn to do as well.

I just checked for you. The sale goes until 8/14.
They do have ordering by phone:
Q-4: By Phone
Shop normally, choosing your items. You can either make a manual list (with the 8 digit SKU number and the price) or use the shopping cart and print out your order form. Keep the list or the print out handy and call us toll free at 1-800-266-0270 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Your credit card information will be given to our customer service representatives and your credit card information will not be online.
Since you're international you'd probably have to use this phone number: (909) 599-7904.

It's just a logical guess based on the two traceroutes you posted.
