| Bandit One Deactivated User No Place That Far 612 Posts 9/02 | Would/Could anyone possibly know where I could get a "good" copy of the Flesh Hunter 2 DVD? I seem to be cursed in that I've purchased four discs, from three different on-line retailers, that were all apparently from that troubled first run of that title. The problems I've had with the disc are the same as discussed on another thread here; all during the Jeannie Rivers scene. I've heard that Evil Angel was really cool about recalling as many as possible and sending out a second wave of good copies, but after returning the disc four times, I'm not really interested in returning another one. I would greatly appreciate any kind of help. Thanks, MidnightMax [Link] |

Just an observation |
| rieekan333 Member 388 Posts 3/02 | The First Run: When the situation became known to Evil Angel, it was handled excellently and the first run was cancelled and retailers mostly stopped carrying them: EVIL ANGEL disc problems The Second Run: Recent Issues: Check your Copy: Replacing the DVD is therefore unlikely to make any difference. It is possible that there are people with problematic first run discs out there, but I think there is a vast amount of confusion arising from the Jeanie Rivers scene on the second batch. The first time I watched my disc I didn't know whether I had a first or second run copy. But since it plays fine in every other respect and I didn't experience any of the problems other people reported, I concluded that it is from the second run. Although there are slight problems with Jeanie's scene, I doubt replacing the DVD will change that. Edited by - rieekan333 on Sep 19 2002 |
| BIGmike B-I-G-m-i-k-e 2335 Posts 3/01 | But I know that when I reviewed it, it didn't play in any of my players until I cleaned it and tried it in my DVD-ROM drive. It played. I did a scan through of the DVD when I got the exchanged copy, no problems. I have several other DVDs currently awaiting me "watching" them. But my copy worked fine when I first got the exchanged copy, and I have no reason to doubt that that has changed. ---Let freedom ring with the shotgun blast! --- |

| BIGmike B-I-G-m-i-k-e 2335 Posts 3/01 | I most certainly can not, just kidding. I will "watch" that tonight and see if there are any problems, it will be on my Zenith, since my indestructable Philips is in another room, but I will report back. It may be a while, 1) "watching" it may require lots of sticky situations and tissues. 2) I am going away on Friday afternoon, won't be back until Sunday night. 3) I will have to re"watch" the title, you know to make sure. lol But I will definitely look into it... ---Let freedom ring with the shotgun blast! --- |

| Laszlo Member 153 Posts 4/01 | For those wondering which batch they own; It might be helpful to post any info you have regarding the original shipping date. For instance, in my case I purchased a copy of FH2 from a Tower records retailer that had a sticker with "0702" on it. This is most likely from the second batch/run since it's problem-free on my Panasonic and is long after the initial run (late-March, early April). I had no idea this disc has been available since March, so more than likely there have been several production runs already. If more people post what date they purchased it (or what date it was shipped to the retailer-if possible) that might indicate whether or not there's a possible batch problem. Tricia and co. have been very helpful on this board to remedy the situation.

My question though, for those that are having difficulties, is there any way to tell (from the cover for example) that what you are getting is the second run that has been corrected? Did they change the cover slick, or put a sticker on it, or anything? DenverDon |

| rieekan333 Member 388 Posts 3/02 | If MidnightMax could report on whether or not he encounters problems with the copy that Tricia sends out, I think we'll have a definitive answer. I'm still inclined to believe my copy is from the revised second run. It is problem-free except for Ch32&33 and even then it plays through the scene. I doubt replacing the DVD will change that and it's too much effort from Australia given how the problem isn't very bad at all. |
| M.B. Senior Member 1679 Posts 2/01 | The copy I sent back also was breaking up in the same chapters you mentioned 33-34, around the 1:33:00-1:34:00 portion of the movie. There is a slight pause during the layer change, but this is not the problem, it's maybe half a minute later that the screen breaks up and freezes. |

| Pornmaster Mike Senior Member 32DDD 1462 Posts 8/02 | I just checked two of our copies out. We (Adult DV-Depot) buy direct from Evil Angel. We never got any copies of the original pressing of Flesh Hunter 2 so we have only ever carried the second pressing discs. Disc #1 played flawlessly, so I was confused as to how people were reporting faulty Flesh Hunter 2 DVDs. However, Disc #2 started to break-up/pause/choppy at the end of 1:32 mark, and continued to do so until 1:34. This continued on and off until the end of the scene. Even the popshot was choppy. The rest of the disc seems to play fine. I've emailed Tricia about this so hopefully she can shed some light on this situation. - Pornmaster Mike |

| tricia_devereaux Evil Angel DVD Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous? 4283 Posts 4/00 | Because of the problems that had happened with FH2, we were especially careful when we put out the new batch. That was in March. In May, we did a reorder of the new version, and started selling those copies at the end of May. I have received a total of 4 complaints about Flesh Hunter 2 in the past 3 months. On that very first batch, MANY copies of Flesh Hunter 2 worked in all of our players here. Some copies worked in some players but not others, and some copies didn't work in any of our players. However, on the March batch, we tried about 20 random discs on at least one of our players, and at least 5 of those on at least 3 different players. We found nothing more than a reasonable layer change pause with no breakup. For the May batch, we tried 3 or 4 random discs on 2 - 3 players each. Again, no breakups. For that initial batch that we recalled, the explanation that I received from the replication company was that when they ran the QC on the discs, many of the check things like ridge specs, disc thickness, jitter, etc... were at the upper limits, but were within the standards, so they approved the discs. However, they believe now that if many of those standards were all at the upper limits, put together, they may have caused the discs to be faulty on players that have a higher sensitivity. And because it's so precise, some of the discs may be just over what the players can handle, and others may be OK. MB - Of course my offer to Max also applies to you. You can send in your copy of Flesh Hunter 2 directly to Evil Angel and we'll send you one of our copies. For Max and MB - please let all of us know if the new copies are OK. If need be, we can do another run and keep those copies as exchange ones for people who have more sensitive DVD players. We only have a couple hundred left of the May run, and considering that we've sold over a thousand and only 4 complaints, that's not really that high a percentage, I guess (even though Max has had 4 copies himself, it may be because he has a really good player that's really sensitive. I forgot to ask him what type of player he has.) |

| M.B. Senior Member 1679 Posts 2/01 | I sent my copy back to Mike at dv-depot.com and they have scanned through their remaining copies and have put aside a good one for me. As usual, the guys at the depot come through with great customer service. Thanks guys. And thanks to Tricia for offering to exchange my disc, not too many other companioes would do that, most would just say send it back to where you bought it from. |
