There are a couple of topics I would like to bring up. We all know there are a lot of girls who do not do scenes with black men. That is obvious. However there is a more subtle form of racism. This is about women who do scenes with black men. Why is it that some of them who do IR have limits of sex acts they place on black guys that they do not place on white guys? Branden Richards posted about being turned down by females to rim him who have rimmed white guys in other scenes. Then there are a few women who have done scenes with black men with no anal but have taken white dick up their asses. What goes into these decisions?
The women are not the only ones to blame however. Studios and websites also have to take some of the blame. For some of them if you look at their catalogs you see that their all white movies have anal, dps, bondage, salad tossing, etc. yet when you look at their interracial catalog usually it is limited to just boy/girl vaginal. If they want to be creative in their IR flicks they add cuckold. Why is it they are creative and put more effort only in their all white movies and not in their IR ones?
The other topic are the movies Color Blind and Interracial Family Needs. What I find curious is that they are marketed as some sort of breakthrough in the interracial genre yet there is an all white scene in each of them. In the case of Color Blind numerous all white scenes if you add all the extras. If it is suppose to be "interracial" then why shoot an all white scene? Not as colorblind as they say they are hey?

How much of a backlog of scenes are there? I've read where people say that there's a lot of scenes that aren't uploaded

Haven't even finished the first page and I hit my first point of contention: LT saying there's only 5 black porn directors in the business. Then he mentions all the porn shot in LA, Vegas, and Florida. My specific issue is that most of that shooting (especially in Vegas and Florida) is for primarily internet work, and what he mentions are the 5 black DVD directors that work for major companies (basically ignoring said internet work). Some of these internet companies have black directors shooting for them. I know Naughty America does specifically, I think PornPros does as well, I'm pretty sure there are at least one or two more in Florida (I doubt a site like BrothaLovers is shot by white directors, but it is possible). Which isn't to say that it isn't a problem, just that he's over-exaggerating the level of it a little bit.

Well I think LT was referring to established directors with some name recognition. But TBH, in that regard, I still feel hardpressed to name 5 who are active anymore. There's LT, Mimefreak, Lex, and who else? When you mention internet directors, perhaps you would consider that guy who does one of those CastingCouch sites. I think it's one called CastingCouchHD. But that right there tells you he's not really an established, recognizable commodity in the biz.
IMO some criteria to be established and recognizable would be like having credits with major companies like Evil Angel or what have you.
Is Dreadneck black? Or B.Skow? I'm sure I've overlooked some, so please add on any major active black directors. John E Depth is directing, but I don't think the mainstream big companies use him. He's doing his own independent stuff. Honestly I thought he had retired since it's been so long since I saw a title with him on it.
Oh yeah, shouldn't exclude Prince. He's had work directing for Jules Jordan and another big company too (I think Elegant?). So that's 4.
Also, no disrespect to the web-based directors. I just feel like they're not able to brand themselves at the same level of commodity as the directors for big companies like Evil Angel, since they get their names on the top of most boxed DVD releases. Web-based directors hardly get recognized like that, as it's mostly branding the websites or parent companies.

In the interview, he mentions Dreadneck and Prince (The three you mentioned at the start and those two make up the 5 he presents). And I do agree with you, and would have agreed with him, about the web directors except for the fact that he brought up all the porn directed in Vegas and Florida to point out how much porn is being shot, when most of that stuff is web scenes. And that's ignoring that you have the ability to go from just being a web director to being a name fairly easily (before Lansky became who he is now, he was just a web director shooting for Reality Kings).

Isn't Josh Stone black? Owns his own production too. Based in Florida BTW
I don't know about Brothalovers directors because they don't (or better didn't I'm not currently a member) state any.
When I was a member I had reason to think it was the Owner's husband himself at first , when they divorced I thought it was Jennifer Ashton herself the one behind the camera , she seldom performs since. Both whites though.
The one at CastingCouchHD is Tee Reel.
Mickey Mod works behind the camera too , though I don't know how consistent is he.

Just as an aside, the director isn't necessarily the person behind/holding the camera for the scene. Many of the top directors do do their own camerawork, but not all of them.
Edit: As a simple example in relation to this thread, Lexington Steele clearly doesn't do his own camerawork, seeing as he's the male talent in the vast majority of his scenes. The same can be said of the scenes that LT or Sean Michaels direct that they also star in.

I dont think LT necessarily means there are only "x" number of black directors, I think he means that there isnt enough freedom, or will to impose change, when it comes to shooting your own tastes as a black directors. DeVoe and James A. are probably the pinnacle of freedom. They shot whatever wanted once they became established, LT was the same under Pat Collins.
Even with all that clout, DeVoe, in his latter days, had to(whether by choice or not) instill a bunch of "vanilla" in his movies. You look at guys like Mick and Manuel and Mark Wood and they have freedom to shoot whatever they want whereas black directors have to "fill quota" and cant really expand the catalog like they could back in the day. When LT left Elegant, the interracial and all-ebony scenes took a massive downturn. Lex puts out maybe 8 ir titles and one all-ebony titles.
The other thing lost in it, black and white, black and white, black and white. Long gone are the days of Mami Culo Grande and Black Invasian. Now ethnic girls have to be mixed with white in order to be on the same platform with white girls when it comes to shooting with black males. I mean I dont discriminate females, but I love seeing black guys with black females, asian females, and latina females as much, even more than white girls but it is taboo to put together a top black male talent with a top black female because of "aesthetics" or with a latina(the ones that arent dodging full scale) because "it wont sell"

I haven't put this year into review yet, but I'd probably include a mix from Blacked, JulesJordan, DarkX, and ArchAngel. I really like what Dickdrainers is doing on the independent front.
TBH since comic/pinup Pit went independent at the beginning of this year, I've been way more excited about that than live action porn. So I haven't really been following live porn that much lately. Pit's work delivers the ultimate fantasies for me.
One thing I'm more disappointed in regarding live action porn is these days there seems to be little artistry or creativity. As much as has been said of the great IR resurgence ushered in by Greg Lansky, the mainstream landscape still feels very conservative. I don't see many risks taken.
To give you an example of what I mean in terms of creativity, take a look at Harmony's productions. This is a UK company that frequently makes use of colorful lighting and flagrant costumes. They also present some interesting visual themes like dominant female Nazis, a witch-doctor outfit for male talent (I forget if it was Omar or Shaft in the role), and they use props like swings or a gurney.
Blacked is sort of pushing more in that direction, and what stands out most about their productions is the roles filled by extras. It makes the scenarios feel more fleshed out. I understand why the average porn watcher may say it's just superfluous and doesn't matter, but for me it does make a difference.
Whenever you watch an adult program like Power, Westworld or Game of Thrones or any mainstream program featuring sexual encounters, don't you wonder how it is they manage to register as erotic, sometimes especially hot, even though they can't get explicit like hardcore content? Obviously mainstream content can't compete head to head with porn for pure erotic excitement, and yet it still can manage to be uniquely arousing, and that oftentimes owes to believable scenarios and good production.
There's a sex scene from Power involving an Asian female, I think, and her black lover and it's one of the hottest and most vivid scenes I have seen all year. I don't even think it's more than a couple minutes - typically sex scenes in mainstream entertainment don't even exceed 1 minute, as they are just abridged or truncated to convey a whole session briefly.
But it stands out because of exemplary direction and vision.

My most favorite scenes was the one done by Hush Hush with Abigail Mac and Dredd....don't know about others but i literally cherished every second of it. Also, despite being in the industry for several years, this year was in my opinion the highlight for Dredd.. really loving what this guy is doing.

I`ll second Dredd`s scene with Abigail Mac. Lived up to the hype and then some. I think he has had quite a few standout performances this year. His dogfart scenes with India Summer and Summer Day were great. His Brothalovers scene with Kate England was EPIC. Other notable Hush performaces imo......Kate England anal, Natasha Nice, Tiffany Watson, Kendra Jade. Wow. Then his EA release is awesome. Saw a few of them via evilangel.com. Then he is shooting with Aidra Fox tomorrow night, and August Ames this weekend. Cheers to Dredds 2016....I have a feeling 2017 will bring some surprises.

Selena Santana did a scene with Mandingo for Dogfart as well.
Speaking of Mandingo he makes an appearance on the website Blacked.com with Megan Rain.

Someone asked which Asian performers have starred in the most IR. I haven't quantified it or anything, but my general recollection suggests these are among the most prolific:
Asa Akira
London Keys
Jessica Bangkok
At least those are 3 of my favorites. But there's plenty more who were popular in past decades. I wish they weren't so rare nowadays.

^ okay, but why are producers pushing certain product? This isnt one big fantasy industry where logistics and consumer reports can be ignored.
Wesley Pipes had an interview on Youtube a few years ago where he basically stated that viewers wanted to see black guys with white girls and therefore, if you wanted to get paid, you shot with the white girl

(?) So...the audience paying for the product has no impact? So where exactly does the money for those checks come from if the audience has nothing to do with it? So IR is popular now because the companies push it and not because the audience likes it and supports it? So if the companies decided the next big thing should be girls sit on one side of a room talking dirty while the guy sits across from her jacking it that will become the next big thing if they just "push it"? You mean the reason BBW porn, midget porn, or masturbation porn doesn't sell better because the companies that make it are too lazy or stupid to "push it"? The audience is just mindless drones who just clamor for anything that's pushed on it? "Plain and simple"? If it's all a matter of what gets "pushed" then he could save himself a whole lot of money when he does his own movies by hiring cheap unknown girls to work with and "push it" on the audience. He'd apparently get the same results since the audience has nothing to do with what sells or is popular.
sigh....

That was a bit confusing to me as well. From the perspective of a newer content producer, one reason i film so much IR (besides the fact I like it lol) is because it sells well. Rimjobs, puke, raceplay, and all the kinky stuff i do is because it all sells well. The audience is the biggest determinant of what we do. Look at the major studios turning to classy IR because of Blacked. The audience responded positively to this content, the dvds are consistently top sellers, so now its a thing. The studios do get to push the product out, but if the audience doesnt like it, then the studio must change or lose money.

I think he meant that the companies pushed it for first , putting under the nose of many customers things they didn't know they would like until shown or even shoved up their asses , and while doing so it's them the ones consistently risking their money when they begun.
of course once you did that there would be a demand for it and an evolution for such demand differentiating the offer of the same subject.
Since he's talking about Jules Jordan, we must keep in mind that he was one of the first who pushed especially on all IR titles , some 17 or 18 years ago with ihis Lex the Impaler series or the Once You Go Black series , was also one of the first who had the courage to issue an entire line over one single African American male performer . We're not talking minor companies o black owned companies aimed mostly to black costumers , we're talking about costly high end products targeted to the white high end audience.
More than that while the others Evil Angel titles were pure gonzo depicting some extreme acts such as double anals, triple penetrations gangbangs (take a look to Flesh Hunter 1 or Space Invaderz from Jules himself or Rocco's movies of that time. The interracial themed ones were quite tamed , the only "extreme" feature related to their dick's size.
Consider what Jake Steed was doing at the same time with his ... Big Black Monster Dicks , he had to put in some devilish , possessed black guys attacking some helpless white girls.

I'll give Jules props producing the types of IR content he did back then and I think he had a lot to do with bringing a classier side to IR back then compared to what was going on elsewhere in the porn world but that doesn't change Prince's take/answer on what drives what type of porn is popular and the audience's part in it. Jules may have originally taken a risk with doing that type of IR but at some point the audience responded positively to it so Jules did more of it. As any smart business person would do. Prince gives Jules props but the other side of the coin is Jules was probably one of the first producers to do what bothers Prince so much these days...namely, offer girls big money for IR. So while he's giving Jules props, with all things being fair he should lump him in with the current people responsible for the current big payday situation. I back Jules and any studio that makes the business choices that will give the fans what they want and make profits to keep their business afloat as long as they aren't hurting anyone or any performers.
Times change, people change, tastes change. Back then I'm sure the people making porn made the type of porn people were responding to. I'm pretty sure some of the people behind making the porn back then didn't want make that type of stereotypical over the top type of stuff but that's what probably worked best for them. That's still true even today. Some porn studios don't have the skill and money to make the type of IR BLACKED or JULES does so they play up their strengths and carve out a niche for themselves by offering something different. Perhaps a company like DOGFART can't pull off the classier stuff like BLACKED so they concentrate on playing up the cuckold angle or whatever and they've cultivated a big enough audience to sustain making that type of niche porn. Another studio might look at BLACKED and decide there's a big part of the audience who likes a slicker look but wants harder type sex. It all about finding your niche and strengths and building off that to see if there's a big enough part of the audience to be able to sustain you.
And that ties right back into the first part of the discussion. The people doing porn try different things until they see what clicks with the audience and then figure out how to get better at giving them that. Some things work. Some things fail. Some things only work for awhile. But at the heart of it all it's all based on paying audience reaction.

Interracial sells big time. It has to be one of the top 5 categories. Every time I check AdultDVDEmpire top selling charts or XRentDVD, almost half, or frequently more than half, of the best sellers are IR releases. Granted, Blacked is getting the lion's share of sales, but even before Blacked, IR sold quite well. And now I think it's selling even better. And it's usually multiple different companies in the top 10 sellers with IR releases. You got Blacked, DarkX, Jules Jordan, Dogfart, ArchAngel, etc.
Scroll through and look for yourself

Do not forget that the top sellers among sites are Brazzers and Bangbros to them IR is but a fraction of their overall productions , besides while whatever you do IR falls in just one category all the others are divided into different branches such as MILFs, Teens, BBW, BigTits ,threesomes and more, Anal , DP , Latino, Step-something and whatever fits your fantasy. these all have a dedicated site with no racial label.
Blacked only produces an IR every 5 days or 6 per month Brazzers does 6 per week or even more , sure as a single shoot or DVD Blacked does sell extremely well but all sum up I doubt they match half the sales of say Reality King as a whole.
So yes IR sells well but is still a niche market overall

see, I think opposite. I believe that back then Jules sought Lex and Mandingo not because they were black, but because they were young, hung, and had massive potential to reach legendary status. Above anything else, a consistent solid performer is the most essential part for producing classic material and before piracy became a worldwide phenomena, there was a higher plateau for "risks"
Look at the way those films were casted under Jules, Von Swine, Mike John, et al....Lex and Mandingo were often given a wide variety of girls, not necessarily the biggest names but girls that could handle it. They didnt just have white girls, they were given all girls. They were also featured in DP's and gangbangs with white contemporaries like Stefano and Everhard
At some point, probably around the PAWG era when social media blew up in the last 2000's early 2010's, the landscape shifted to pairing huge well endowned black guys with pristine but deviant white(or light skin in general) females to a point where fair skin mixed girls and latinas are generalized with white girls
Even with their hiatus from Jules(and after the Devoe era), Mandingo and Lex's titles remained among the best sellers on his site. Partly because they molded the new IR landscape but also because they are good performers with huge members and were often paired with the top line talent once the budget opened up. We're talking 5-6 scenes dvd's where at least 80% of the scenes were classic cant miss performances and pairings.
But, even though Manwin has been whitewashed for the most part across all of it's networks, they also took those same risks on most of their sites, Brazzers, Mofos, Reality Kings all used to prominently feature interracial content on a consistent basis but I guess they made a corporate decision to scrap it all and now they release a dvd a year or two apart to cash in on the new spike in IR popularity

I didn't say that Jules hired Lex because he was black, I said he hired him despite that , in a porn world were there was no market for such a thing yet, he literally created it, I mean a series focused not on the girls but on the male, a black male at that, and yes he saw potential in him otherwise he wouldn't have risked his money over him not knowing how the market would have reacted to that
Back then there were very few talents who could support a line all by themselves or even being the focus attracting MALE customers over them . There was just Rocco and then was Lex and then all the others that followed them , sure there was Jules himself but he never put himself at the focus of his scenes, the girls are , it's not him as a performer the reason why he has customers.
I own the first issue of Lex the Impaler , i remember its first scene , it was one of the most beautiful actresses ever seen in porn , April Flowers the scene was fantastic even though he was wearing a condom, she was so into it and him. I discovered years later that she had a real life preference for black men and that was why she was so into the scene , the secon scene was Miko Lee a girl who had a great chemistry with Lex , it was just a big dick around there was something else
