Back in the 2000s, there's radio station called KCRW in Los Angeles that ran a mostly contemporary music format. It's quite famous for being very influential with Hollywood movie producers (I'm sure they still exist but I don't know if they still have that influence). The semi-joke was that all those executives stuck in the notoriously congested Southern California freeways had no choice but to tune into some radio station, and KCRW was where they found the soundtrack for their next big hit movie. The trick for KCRW was to be -- as a New York Times article called it -- "semi-popular." It couldn't be too popular -- that would be too passé, too unwashed masses; but it also couldn't be too niche, too esoteric -- that would severely limit its popular appeal. It had to be just right. And it was successful because it was just right.

Anyway, that was just a convoluted analogy for my feelings on All Her Luv. Like that damned "u" instead of "o" and the missing "e" -- it is different, but not quite too different. It is the "semi-popular" g/g porn. Those of us who love it feel like part of a special club, but not quite so special as to miss out all the fun that other people are enjoying.

Case in point: Alex Coal and Anna Claire Clouds in "Moving On" Part 1, directed by Ricky Greenwood, released on March 3, 2022. Alex and Anna are both quite "mainstream," yet here they are, in this special little sapphic corner, bubbling and sparkling, shining bright.

Having said all that, the plot of the story is, well, bad. Alex breaks up with her abusive boyfriend, runs to her friend Anna's house. They talk: Alex expresses a desire to pursue a career in making horror movies, which Anna encourages. The boyfriend follows Alex and pounds on the door, so the two have to go hide in Anna's bedroom. At that point they realize they are attracted to each other and proceed to have sex. Sooooo, yeah, it's like that. Nothing I can say will or should salvage this from a story perspective. So I will not attempt to. I will, however, point out the one thing I do find compelling about it: the whole ridiculous thing is played out with a quiet sincerity such that even though I want to scoff at it, I didn't. It's as if the two young women do not realize they are in a porn. I'm not sure if this is a compliment or not. Anyway. Here are some screen caps that I consider to be interesting.

- Alex: with her large expressive eyes
- Anna: encouraging Alex to follow her dreams, with an intense look in her eyes. Also: that shiny, perfect cupid's bow.
- Anna: biting that damned lip, saying "Did I turn you a lesbian?" sounding genuinely amused, rather than coquettish.
- Alex: "You've awaken that part of me." OK I admit it, that's the one time I did laugh.

- A moment of self-aware comedy:
Anna: Maybe this could be in your horror movie?
Alex: Maybe? Bad things always happen to the girls who fuck.
Anna: *laughs*
- A moment of melancholy so sudden that it made me dizzy:
Alex: We won't be together.
Anna: I'd like to think so, but maybe that's not your destiny.
Alex: Then I'll have to hold onto this moment.
Anna: Please do.
- Anna with hooded eyes: hunger.
- Anna with perfectly tousled sex hair.

The long kissing is absolutely gorgeous. The sex is pretty simple and straightforward: mostly oral, with a little bit of finger rubbing mixed in -- it's somehow just perfect. Not too frantic and complex, not too slow or showy. There's no reason for me to believe they are real life girlfriends (are they?), yet it's puzzling to me how they can fit so perfectly with each other sexually. Just the right places, just the right pace, just the right intensity. There's no ultra closeups from the camera as there is no need to -- if anything, it's as if the camera stays away from any closeup of the labia or clitoris. Yet the oral is just, well, perfect. It's like their mouths are made for each other's pussies. In fact, I don't wish to include any screen caps for the sex or kissing, as I feel there's no need to "prove" that this or that really happened, and any still image will just diminish the beauty of the sex between them. I know it sounds silly, but I really do feel this way.

It starts with Alex still being harassed by her ex-boyfriend. We then move onto her interviewing (auditioning?) an actress (Charly Summer) to play a role in her horror movie which involves a plot about a stalker. It turns out Alex has to play the therapist because Charly also has a stalker in her past life, then they try to play a scene but it doesn't work, then Charly gets the role anyway, and then they start kissing... And yeah, it doesn't really make more sense than the first part, possibly less.

Relative to Part 1, I feel like the kissing and the makeout is less (although the kissing is excellent). This may simply be driven by the bad choice of staging the scene in a kitchen with Charly sitting on a chair barely wide enough for herself, whereas in part 1 Alex and Anna start out on a large chair then quickly move onto a bed. That small kitchen chair also doesn't make sex any easier, though Alex is flawless as usual. For Charly's part, she first tries to pleasure Alex from behind, and it was just awkward. Then they try the front, and well, it's less than ideal. Then they try tribbing. Sigh. Do we have to?

Charly Summer is a very pretty girl, but to be blunt, she is not the proper partner for Alex the Magnificent like Anna Claire Clouds. Also, as I noted at the beginning, there's no credit for director (unlike in Part 1). Is it still Greenwood? Because it feels different. Here the girls are stuck in a cramped kitchen space and have to have sex on small chair and kitchen countertop, whereas in Part 1, you know, bed. Also, here the camera went for multiple closeups, whereas in part 1 as I noted it's almost as if it shied away from it (because what's there is so gorgeous there's no need for the closeup).

Anyway, here's a review of "A Love Story Part 1," featuring Bella Rolland and Scarlett Hampton (playing as "Lisa"), released on 7/24/2021.

Right off the bat -- what a bold title! Yet we will see it playing out very nicely. The story is centered around young aspiring writer Bella, who meets Lisa by chance. After a brief conversation, Bella hires Lisa as the live-in help who does cooking and other household chores, so as to free up Bella to concentrate on writing.

Bella faces major writer's block, but a torrid affair with Lisa unleashes her creativity in writing a love story (another interesting contrast with "Moving On" -- here no one calls Lisa "muse" but she develops into that role perfectly; in "Moving On" part 2 Alex literally calls Charly her muse within 10 minutes of meeting the latter with no justification at all). Yet as Lisa has warned all along, all good things come to an end: it is revealed in the end that even before they have met, Lisa all along has never planned to stay in one place or with one person. Bella's heart is broken, and her love story -- her life and her writing -- comes to a sudden, crushing end.

Here are a few screen caps. There's no sex not because I think it's not good -- it's very good, but I actually really like the story. I think knowing the story will develop into explicit hot lesbian sex makes the story that much better. It's the anticipation.

Here Bella and Lisa have an interesting and well-written conversation. Bella Rolland portrays the young writer really well -- at first she flashes a shy smile when asked about what she's writing ("Writing IS embarrassing.") Then as the conversation unfolds, she reveals that she wants to write a great novel that will place her on par with the literary giants, and scoffs at Lisa's suggestion about writing "mere" romance ("Love stories are all the same.") I think the wild swing between insecurity and pride is both adorable and very realistic. The scene ends with Lisa openly questioning Bella's life experience (or the lack thereof) and thus her ability to write great novels, and suggesting "why not write about love?" Bella becomes upset.

Another night: Bella has trouble writing her great novel. Lisa, who is about to go out, whispers to Bella "Maybe you just need to live a little," and brushes her lips with Bella's.

As Lisa walks away, our young writer is utterly discombobulated and speechless -- again, Bella Rolland does an excellent acting job here. Next morning when Lisa comes back, however, there has been a major breakthrough. An excited Bella shares with Lisa that she has had a burst of inspiration, words are pouring out of her, and it is going to be a love story after all. She tells Lisa about her two characters.

Bella: One is a writer, another is a cook.
Lisa: Sounds familiar.

Bella: One is a bit shy, another is open to the whole world, she makes miracles happen [great line and oohh the lip bite]
Lisa: Which one is supposed to be me?
Bella: Why don't you guess?
Lisa: And these two characters, they make love?

- Bella writing her love story.
- Bella: "I wish we could make this last forever." Lisa: "Good things always come to an end." Bella: "Not love."
- Bella: (after discovering Lisa is leaving) "What about my novel? How am i supposed to finish it without you?"
- Lisa: "Maybe this isn't the big romance, it's just a... prologue."

It's a tangle of coming of age, of story of love and love of stories, of the clash between insecurity and exuberance, of joy and heartbreak -- it's really a deceptively simple story really well told. The two actresses involved here both do well, but particular recognition should go to Bella Rolland -- her portrayal of conflicting emotions, confusions, and at the end heartbreak is great. It's a crime that this scene has not received any awards or recognition (as far as I know).

This is a review of A Love Story Part 2, staring Bella Rolland and Laney Grey, released on 8/8/2021.

Yet again, we have a seemingly simple story that is told well. It takes its time to build up the tension then releases it well. All the non-sex elements come together as an integrated whole. And oh yeah, the sex is great too.

The story starts with a heartbroken Bella working a job as a housecleaner for the wealthy Laney Grey. Right from the start the tension builds up between the emotionally and economically depressed Bella vs. the high-handed, arrogant Laney. But then this tension gradually gets released when Laney finds out Bella is a writer. Out of seeming simple curiosity, she gets Bella to give her the unfinished novel to read and is impressed by it. From here, she offers a free room to Bella so Bella can keep writing and finish the novel.

Tension rises again, when Bella lets her reaction to the breakup color the novel, which becomes too angry for Laney's taste, who wants a happy love story. Bella angrily questions if Laney has ever had her heart broken, no doubt being painfully reminded of the last time someone asks her to write a love story. Laney first responds with platitude and then has to apologize and admit her ignorance.

In the final confrontation, Laney opens up about her loneliness and wants at least one night where she becomes a part of a love story. Bella is initially hesitant, but the final tension is released by, of course, multiple orgasms.

Here are some screen caps I made.

- After criticizing Bella's story for being too angry, Laney says, "It's supposed to be a love story."
- Bella angrily responds, "Have you ever been in love?"
- Laney responds with some platitude about "you will love again;" Bella, voice on the verge of cracking, says "Some times, not always."
- Laney apologizes, places her hand on Bella's, says "I didn't mean to offend you. I just want to help."

- Bella, caught in her emotional turmoil over her broken relationship, her writing, and no doubt the confused feeling she has toward Laney, tears apart her novel in frustration.
- Laney confesses her loneliness, and expresses a wish to be in love at least once even if it comes with the risk of heartbreak. She asks, "Do you think you can write about me?" (brilliant line, btw). A hesitant Bella, knowing what is really being asked of her, and what happened the last time she wrote someone into her love story, exhales, "It doesn't work that way."
- Laney: "Could you just try?"
- Her hands closes on Bella's for the second time.

I just really love this short sequence, it comes as they are holding hands and just as they are about to kiss. Notice Laney's eyes: they are first on Bella's eyes, then down to their hands, then back up to Bella's eyes again, then down to Bella's lips. The hesitation, the attraction, the tension! Amazing job Laney Grey!

Well, this is just to assure everyone that we are still watching porn, not some soap opera. I love love love the soapy drama, but the sex is great too. Just because I've devoted most of this review to the non-sex elements, it doesn't mean sex is relegated to a supporting role: in fact, out of a total of 38 minutes of the scene, only about 10 cover the non-sex elements, the rest is multiple orgasmic sex. I will just use a few examples here to illustrate: the first two images are Laney using her tongue and fingers to bring Bella to orgasm; the third is her happy smile; the last is near the end after Bella eating Laney's pussy, she says "you taste so good."

It could have stopped there, with an implied happily ever after ending, but not quite. The last moment is Bella's voice-over, wondering uneasily if Lisa would prove to be prophetic as another great love story would also have a sad ending. I like this added moment of self-reflection, as this is in a sense the same story being told twice. I don't believe this is a weakness -- after all, what human story has not already been told and retold many times, even within the life of one person?

Other non-sex elements of the scene also come together really well. One is music. The same simple yet haunting piano refrain comes back again from Part 1, a refrain that resembles the human heartbeat. The lighting is subdued but not too dark (but still very appropriately in contrast to the bright lights of Part 1), and the camera is at just the close but not too close distance -- both contribute to an atmosphere of intimacy.

Thus concludes a magnificent two part story that exemplifies the best of All Her Luv.

However -- I'm not sure if you have seen "Moving On" -- on occasions even AHL can write an terrible story. But when they are good -- like "A Love Story" -- yeah they are absolutely dazzling.
