I don't mean to go against someone, but I really loved this movie and astroknight has gotten some grudge against Chris Charming (one of my fav guys.) Why do you hate him?

VCArules. The difference of opinion can probably be summed up in five words.

"Different strokes for different folks".

Hey, now let's not base this completely on my review of NCSG#2. I think I also rip on Chris Charming in NCSG#3. My main reason is that I get a feeling that he cares nothing for the girls. Watching his scenes, I almost felt like he was forcing himself on them. He also seemed like a real @$$hole aside from the aforementioned stuff. Sorry if I offended you ripping one of your favs, but from what I've seen I wouldn't shed any tears if he left the biz. I will also note that I think I stated that I didn't like him since the first scene so to keep that in mind during those parts of the review.

I think if you look at astro's comment's in the actual reviews, you'll notice that he details what he likes and dislikes about a movie. His reviews are amoung the best on ADT's site and his ratings are just a reflection of what he thinks.

Besides which, he didn't trash the movie based on one guy-it was a group of factors that earned the dvd it's rating. I disagree with him all the time over stuff like that but I can understand his reasoning (usually-his Blue Matrix review had me a bit confused-telling us the movie is above average in the body but assigning it a 2.5/average rating made me wonder a tiny little bit). ;)

In case anybody else is confused by my overall ratings compared to the movie, I'll explain it to you all. I usually figure that the overall rating is based on the disc as a whole. Extras make a big difference for me. If a company goes to the effort to put a bunch of quality extras on the DVD (such as commentary, interviews, behind the scenes, REAL multiple angles, or bios that cover everybody in the movie so we know who they are)then I think it makes a better overall disc. If they don't do much for extras (a couple quick bios, photo gallery, or trailers), I think it lowers the overall quality of the DVD. This isn't a huge factor, but I normally think of the extras as plus or minus a half point on the overall rating. Hopefully this'll end the confusion for some fo you.

Oooooooohhhhhhhhhhh! So that's what was up. I rethought what I said and figured it might be that you thought the "story" was above average, along with the women, men, plot, acting, etc, but the dvd itself wasn't quite there. In any case, I looked at my extensive review notes and wished I'd put in a comment I scribbled that you hit on-the two investigators were like Scully and Mulder on the X-Files. I wrote down "Matrix Meets X-Files" and forgot to put it in the review.

Regardless, I liked your review even if I thought the movie quality was higher than you did. I like extra's too and add/subtract from the rating as well. No specific formula devised yet (you've been reviewing longer than I have). I still take it on a case by case basis which drives me crazy at times ("should I rate this a 3 or a 2.5"). ;)
