This just started today. When I hit the back icon on Firefox about 80% of the time it sends me back two pages instead of one. Happens everywhere not just on ADT and I am sure I'm only hitting the icon one time.

It might be your mouse. You should check and see if it double clicks when you only want it to single click on files and folders. I've had several of them die this way. The button gets fucked up and ther's nothing you can do about it but buy a new mouse.

As an alternative, you can use the 'Backspace' key instead of clicking that icon.
I suspect the mouse too. I've repaired a double-clicking mouse button, but it's tedious work. You'd need small needle-nose pliers and good magnification and steady hands.

You can get logitech wireless mouses for pretty cheap nowadays. I've had the same one for 2 years and haven't had a problem with it at all. Not sure of the model number but I can check if you're interested. Costed $60ish at Office Depot.

BTW, every Microsoft mouse I've had died this way (the buttons). And pretty quickly too. I've had a cheap Logitech optical mouse for several years now and it hasn't failed yet. I took a couple of the MS ones apart and took my Logitech apart (Be careful if you do this. Some of them are put together in such a way that it's almost impossible to figure out how to reassemble them if you take them apart. Everything flies out and it's hard to figure out where everything goes). They use different kinds of buttons for the Logitech ones and they must be better because they seem to last way longer.

This only happened on the day I first posted this thread. Every other day it has been fine but that one day this was happening about 4 out of every 5 times I clicked on the back icon. The last couple of days everything has worked fine.

Mouse is certainly a top suspect.
Often, just a regular cleaning out of the mouse is all it needs.
Honestly, when you get to the point of "repairing" the mouse, just get a new one.
Then you can have fun repairing the bad one with a hammer, run it over with a car, or drop it off a high bridge :)
I've also had these type issues when the keyboard (beneath the keys) has become dirty, and some key button is not working properly (e.g. might be stuck on by a piece of debris).
Then, when you perform certain actions, including using the mouse, you get weird results.
