Yeah, but I've been watching porn for a lot of years, and that mentality and separation has always existed to a great extent. It shouldn't have to be like that, but it unfortunately is.
It does appear to me that more black performers have their collected feet farther in the door than they ever have from my far perspective. And those with the most success appear to have kept their feet inside that door, and then knocked it down. Well at least enough to find their way/niche and run with it. I have no problems with a black/urban award show myself. You can find yourself waiting all day waiting for someone else to invite you to a party not necessarily intended for you.

That's excatly my point why go at all? They should boycott the whole damn thing altogether. But I don't think that the fellas (Black male Preformers) would support them by not going too.

That is why black guy in porn will win AVN Award then there black female costar do. If a Vivid girl does in IR scene they get Marucs or Sean Michael for those scenes because they treat are white female costar good. Unless black female peformer can stop being in those ghetto type movie then the AVN will pass them.

Your right there shouldn't have to be a "separate" award show to acknowledge our own, but that's what we gotta do. If not, the grumbling will continue after each and every AVN. Award shows are really made to make everyone happy, even us.
And the only time I use a water fountain is at the gym and even then I proceed with caution cause we all a little nasty "black" or "white" people we both got germs. Uh that's what you meant...right?

No, that's not what I meant at all. Maybe that comment went over your head... either that or you're being sarcastic. I really hope it's the latter.

I suppose my only real issue here, is that quite possibly "mainstream" porn will use the Urban X Awards as an excuse to completely exclude black female performers from receiving awards via outlets such as AVN, Xbiz, etc - because that is exactly what happened this year.
This trend of "black women not wanted" isn't only rapidly surfacing in adult entertainment. Mainstream Hollywood is showing their true colors more so as of late as well - here's an article posted on the front page of yahoo.com today:
http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/beauty/vanity-fairs-quot-new-hollywood-quot-issue-completely-lacks-diversity-578862/
The whole "separate yet equal" 1950sish mentality doesn't sit quite right with myself and many others.
Being that you're essentially a black leader/icon in the adult industry, are you planning on taking steps in encouraging awards outlets such as AVN, Xbiz, XRCO, etc to take a bit more notice of the industry's black female performers (you probably already have in the past), being that you have witnessed this trend for years, or are you just over it due to this issue pretty much revealing itself to be a lost cause?

Mr Marcus is 100% correct.
I believe the AVN is a lost cause. My motto is simple, if you're continually not getting acknowledged at the party you attend every year, set up your own.
Then invite famous people who are cool with hanging around in porn venues like rap stars and basketball stars etc and get everyone talking. The AVN will then think twice about not giving you the respect you deserve.

I think you guys are making an argument that is best answered by quality productions raising the profiles of black performers. Misty Stone for a few years was a regular participant in mostly par-for-the-course 'junk in the trunk' type of movies (she doesn't have much junk in that trunk but what she has is fine lol) and she really wasn't known at all. I shot her twice for Barely Legal and something else but had no clue who she was and was completely drawn to her and when I read her for a part in a feature, it was quite obvious that this girl had serious acting talent. I'm talking about WAY beyond porn-good type of talent. She is Hollywood good.
I cast in her in quite possibly our most ground-breaking production ever- Not the Cosbys XXX (which went on to win the 2010 AVN Award- Best Parody, NightMoves Best Comedy and XCritic's Best Porn Movie of the Year and suddenly people are taking some serious notice of this talented beautiful lady and her superb acting performance. She's now a regular cast member on a Cinemax series. Yes, the girl is beautiful and can fuck like a rabbit but it was the opportunity for her to get into a major adult feature production that allowed her talent to shine. Not all beautiful girls have talent! We also cast her in our 2010 AVN Best Comedy winner Flight Attendants and she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the ghetto girl La Cretia Jenkins (sorry for the black stereotype but it was funny as hell).
Now I was VERY dissapointed that she did not receive an AVN Best Actress nomination for her portrayal of Denise Huxtable because she is marvelous but when she was nominated for Female Performer of the Year that was nice to see and richly deserved even though I knew she wouldn't win. The girl got brutally serious, elevated her game and was in a few extremely high quality productions which lead others to get the opportunity to see her work and recognize that she is a superior performer. Just because you are black and not recognized does not mean there is foul play going on at least not in my opinion. Monica Foster also was enjoyable in Not the Cosbys XXX yet as good as she was and is, she did not have the mega-year that Misty Stone had. I love them both.
We are in an era where it will be more and more difficult to create expensive, quality productions that will allow performers and black performers in particular to shine and rise above the crowd due to the glut of free porn that is killing the business. I guess my point is that quality is the key to success be it in an individual's performance or in the entire production and when those two areas collide, there is nothing that can stop an actor be them black or white.
Thomas Ward is another black actor/comedian that received much-deserved recognition for his role as Cliff Huxtable. I am proud to have been their director. Tremendous talent has a knack for being rewarded and I am happy to say that the entire cast of Not the Cosbys XXX plus a bunch of white girls are in the sequel- 'Not the Cosbys XXX 2: I hate Whitey' (just kidding about that title) in stores Feb 9th. Have anybody seen the new 2010 Miss America Caressa Cameron

Damm she look fine as hell. I would loved to hit that. We need more of these black woman in porn who don't have a big booty. But if she did porn then Vivid would sign her up fast.

Vivid are no longer interested in Black women, pay no notice of the weak and pathetic excuses Hollywood Woody spews out.
Here is Hollywood Woodys post to his buddy Cumfiesta on the Incest thread. This clearly reveals the obvious regarding how he wiews Black performers.
WOW Hollywood Woody, pat yourself on the back for downgrading EVERY SINGLE IR porn scene ever recorded on a film to an 'imaginary' movie that hasn't even been made yet, regardless if it will be turn out to hot or not. It's clear to see that you don't watch much IR since its plain obvious that you don't like it BUT in your eyes, ANY other movie that have two ethnicities (other than BLACK) will TRUMP every IR movie that involves Blackmen out there.
YET you send a request to Mr Marcus to call you while acting as if you're his close buddy.
I’ve never ever come across anyone so slippery and could anyone take your reviews seriously after reading this?.

The powers and bigwigs that run Porn have never ever intended for Black performers to be equal so Black stars have no other choice but set up their own shows.

I believe that is true as for finding a good looking black woman in porn because some do become hiatus at one point but he ones that are still sticking around don't get any credit honey. Nyomi banxxx, Chyenne Jacobs, Mone Devine, Jada Fire Misty Stone and even including myself you mean to tell me that none of these women are beautiful enough to win female performer of the year.

Wow I really do appreciate that and I will agree with you on some level. Although for 2010 for AVN I was nominated for best new starlet and it somewhat opened doors for me. I knew I wasn't goin to win because no matter what you do in this world everything is politics and you just have to accept it. You can even leave me out and girls who deserve to win female performer of the year like Jada Fire or even Marie Luv will never win because it isn't up to the fans. It took us a long ass time to have a black President and even sometimes some dumbass throws in that he is mixed with white. Its hard for some people to this day to let go and wrap there head around it but for me personally AVN sticks to what they believe works for them. Do you know how dissapointing it was to go to the expo this year and have fans come up to me and ask where was all the black performers are. Its just as much as our fault as black people to stop fighting for the positions we deserve because we allow certain ones to take that power. We can change it if we want to but there are many that are content where they are. I will continue to do porn no matter if its accepted by AVN or by anyone else because I love my fans and thats who matters to me. You see the winners of AVN are decided by the same panel of people who do it every year. The Urban X Awards winners are decided by the fans, which are the ones who buy our films. So just keep supporting The Urban X awards by any means necessary and one day we all shall prevail. And if we dont then fuck it who cares just keep supporting your fav actress because porn isn't goin to stop the way its been running anytime soon.

Well I'm a big fan of yours from NJ and I was mad that I didn't get to see at Jersey Girls last month. But to get back to the subject you and some of the Preformers you just mentioned are the main reason I posted this thread in the frist place. I was just getting fed up with fact that so meany of you are getting overlooked all the damn time. But you also make a good point, Fuck'em you still have a lot of fans that want to see you in quality work.

Well thank you babe and again I appreciate it and trust me I love the fight you are doin no matter how many accounts you have lol but sometimes you just have to build things for yourself and let the world see you for who you want to be without selling out. As long as we have fans like you behind us then we can't lose. trust me there are a lot of white guys that love black women as well and thinks the same that you do, but again its what the companies want. The biggest seller is IR in the since of black men with white women its a fact not too much the other way around. I have just came to the realization of just accepting it and if I want my fans or anyone else to see something different from me then I'll direct and produce it myself. i don't need an award to define my great work luv. I know what I do in my scenes and some people recognize it as long as I continue to have a good fan base that follows me then I am golden babe

Here's the unfortunate truth -- directly from a distributor...
In many parts of the country a black woman on the boxcover will actually hurt sales. Sad but apparently true. I am not making this up nor do I agree with it but this distributor was told by retail stores to change the boxcover and put a white girl on it so the movie would sell.
People are still racist and not everyone likes black women. And since the AVN Awards are really not solely about performance but also have a sales component to it that will continue to be the reason why you will not see black women win more awards....

Sad but true. Not too long ago at my job we saw some women come in. One was a white woman and the other a black woman. The guy I was working with, a white guy, was blind to how attractive the black woman was. It's pretty sad that this guy can't see an attractive woman because of his social programming. It all comes down to skin color because not all black women have the same facial features or body types, so that can't be the case. I know quite a few white males that are this way. It is programmed into them that it is taboo to date or be with black females. You would think in this day and time no one would care, but apparently that is not the case.
And these are guys that are not spouting epithets or preaching hate. Not part of active racist groups or anything of the kind. It is all their underlying social programming. And some would say such programming doesn't exist, but it does. Just glad it doesn't exist in me.

Well maybe porn isn't for black woman. But why they do it and why they can't get any poupler with the white girl do. Even know black porn have a black fan based but it hurting them in sales. Pluse they are botleg black porn movie because I went on the DC Metro onetime and this guy had some bootleg copy of Twilight, and even black porn movies. But Heather Hunter was poupler with both black and white guy in her Vivid days. If a today black female performer ran againt Heather Hunter who would win, but I am afraid that Heather Hunter would win. There isn't a black female performer that can't match up to Heather Hunter. Well it is easy for black male performer to do porn because they do more IR then black on black porn. The reason Lexington Steele, Sean Michael michael and Mr Marcus have won some many AVN Award because there fanbased are mostly IR fans and whites and black who do watch IR. They do more IR scene then black on black porn. When did the last time Sean Michael did an black on black porn. He mostly doing IR porn for Vivid. Most of the smart white female will work with Sean or Lex because they have class and are GQ like. You will see less black female performer on porn these days.

Pornlaw is onto something with his post. It is true that distributors once in a while do complain about black covers. Even our movie Not the Cosbys XXX received a number of complaints from distributors that it was too black. Too black? The Cosby Show spoof is too black? Well of course it is black but so was the TV show were ares spoofing. It is also interracial and filled with beautiful women of all colors but the cover was too black. Now, the movie has sold very well but not as many copies as Not the Bradys XXX for example.
So, since we are in business of making great movies that happen to make money, we have altered the box cover for the sequel which by the way will be in stores tomorrow. The new box cover has a much bigger photo of Cliff Huxtable surrounded by white women and one Latina. Check out the movie trailer at sitcums.com

I can't believe people would think that having a a black woman on the cover hurt sales. Ha, ha somebody forgot to tell me that, really? then why do i have over 7 black titles compared to 3-4 interracial, i don't have no problems selling mine!

It is sad but true and I say that sincerely since I am with a black pornstar....
I once represented a famous and well know director of a sex institute. He shared with me the results of a general opinion sex survey that was done in the last ten yrs -- albeit outdated but still indicitive of people's perceptions - that black females were the least desirable sexual partners.
What message does it send to those in this country when Tiger Woods mistresses are all white or other black athletes date mostly white women and black male company owners in this industry focus on IR. It sends a clear message that black women are not even prized no less respected by black men.
In general, if a black man doesnt value and exhalt the sexuality of a black woman why do you expect a bunch of white guys at AVN to do so?

When it comes to porn, I don't care what color the performer is as long as she's good at what she does on camera.
I recently pre-purchased LT's Black Mommas 2 *just* for the Carmen Hayes/Delotta Brown scene because those are two girls that I know will deliver, regardless of their skin color.
I'm disappointed in porn in general lately; the dearth in superlative performers isn't specific to any race. Currently, the desperate need for real talent exceeds the talent that is actually available, therefore we're being subjected to a bunch of clueless girls being put out there who simply aren't ready. Or worse, girls that are out there for all the wrong reasons; who aren't in it for the love, so to speak, but for the fast buck. This goes for a lot of directors as well.

Come on pornlaw some of statements that you've made are total BS, because Black Porn and IR are both selling well. Shit most of the time it is cheaper to make because some companies don't pay the Black Female talent what they are worth (even the Black ones). If they put out more High Quality Content like say LT does for Elegent Angel, then more people would buy it.

I agree. If the product is good people will buy it especially is its distributed through a 1st rate company like Elegant. Distributors that say Black porn doesn't sale either stock there stores with low-quality crap(which there is unfortunately a lot of) or just don't want it in their stores. I don't think too many people would look and look at the cover of 'Top Black Models' at their local store and not at least think of getting it.

This is complete garbage. Interracial unions are like nil percent of all relationships. People keep citing these studies but can't rectify why the overwhelming amount of relationships are still within racial lines, that includes blacks as well. Citing high-profile celebrities (who are mixed) and others who have a ton of money doesn't change this fact. Shaniqua is still dating Tyrone, and Tyrone hasn't traded her for Becky. The fact is that porn gets away with categorizing IR as black-only and this has to change.

All nonsense, far as I'm concerned. Every black man I know or have every met digs black women. How many black women do you think athletes like Tiger Woods run into in their inner circles? And there are plenty of famous black actors and athletes married to or dating black women. You can't compare the average black millionaire to the average working class black male, their worlds hardly collide that often. Exposure increases results and probably changes misperceptions. And what goes not being included in even secondary or complementary roles have to do with a boxcover. Just getting in the film seems hard enough for black female performers. Today's front boxcovers are rarely a true indication of what's inside. Often that woman on the front cover has only one scene, with the rest going to women who are rarely black. I mean let's cut the bullshit!
That's not against you Pornlaw. I'm not trying to shoot the messenger.

It can be done right but not with the ghetto stuff in it. I stop watching black porn because too many ghetto theme in it. It the samething in video games since I go to school for computer arts and we had a subject a few weeks ago about the lack of black main characters in video game. In video games the hero alway have to be white or an asian but not a black person. Well all main video game character can be a ninja, a knight, a spy, a soldier, and other stuff but they put black character in those sterotype roles like the thug and gangbanger. But I like how Rockstar is with GTA series used different races in there games. Also in the comic book were Marvel doesn't there black superhero in a sterotype role. Storm, Black Panther, Luke Cages, Nick Fury (Ultimate Marvel version)
and War Machine are poupler with comic book fans because most comic book nerd like me are both white and black. But look at Hallie Berry, she is still fighting for better roles in Hollywood as an black actress pluse Denzel Washington and Samual l Jackson have better role in Hollywood like these other back actor who played the thugs type roles. Pluse the chemisty is a another one porn, like when a black male does a scene with a white female it have good chemisty in it just like the white on white porn does. Like Lexinton Steele and Shyla Stylez have great chemiety in there scene together. I don't see that in black porn and the girls don't enjoy is seem to enjoy it that much. Pluse there is one thing that you nerve or try to do to a black woman and I have try it but nerve did it is touch with a black woman hair. Most black woman in porn doesn't like it then a guy touch or get cum on there hair.

Well some of it is not true, I grew up in a interracial parent, my father is black and my step mother is white. My real mother which I nerve knew die in a car crash in 1991 after New Year Day (I was born in 1990). My dad and her were going to get marry as after he graduate from law school but he have to take a year off and his mother which os my grandmother took care of me. He didn't want to remarry because he have to deal with the lost of my mom but my grandmother took him you got to moved on and find somebody to loved and go back to school. So a year later in 1992 he when back to school were he finish law school. In 1993 he met my step mother which she moved from LA to New York to become a teacher.
They met at a Knicks game were the Knick played the Lakers that day because my step mom is a Lakers fan. The dated and she even took care of me and the first time in my life I called her mother. Her parents even welcome him to when we when to california for Christmas vaction one time. They dated each other for 2 years and got marry in 1995. They have two kids, my step brother is 13 and will be in hight school next school year, and my step sister is 7 and will turn 8 on Feb 20. We are like the Kardashian Family, I still kept a picture of my real mom in hanging over my wall at school and even my room. She would be proud my my for that I am doing right now. My famly moved to DC to in 2001 four month before 9/11 because my dad got a new job as a attorney for a DC law firm. We lived in the surburban outside of DC. My mother teached special ed and is a partime fittness trainer. Even know she is 38 but she look like she is 23 years old. But I do have some black and white friend were I go to school at and the parent don't have a problem with my dad or my step mom. But my friend alway hit on her which can pissed me off a bit. My famliy welcome her too because my mother sister is marry to a white man.

I don't know, I mean I really don't think it's that different proportionally. I really don't! Almost every pornstar seems to have some issue with certain things, things they'd rather not do or have done to them, including certain people or certain things. I haven't heard any female pornstar admit to liking to shampoo cum out of their hair. I think that kind of stuff tends to get overblown. Now when talking about black women not always being treated or presented as well by black filmmakers and other filmmakers in general, well that's a whole other story.

Why is it so hard to believe that in some markets/locations black porn or porn with black women doesn't sell as well? Don't you think much of it has to do with the audience/customers in that area? Do you think the population of Atlanta would have the same buying habits of Boston? Do the buying habits of Texas mirror what sells well in New York?
Yeah, porn with black women may sell well but that doesn't mean it sells well everywhere. I would imagine that like everything else, certain types of porn does better in certain markets. If I owned a porn shop and my customer base didn't support certain types of movies it would be ridiculous to order it heavily just because I felt it was "wrong" that they didn't buy it. Ordering product that doesn't move doesn't make people change their preferences.

Out of the 4 Tiger Woods' grandparents, only 1 of the 4 has any black ancestry. All of the other 3 grandparents has asian ancestry. But you see black and you just can not hide your racist nature. Which is the only support you provided for all of your racist statments.

Not sure what your point is but Texas has a bunch of hispanics, and unlike the census, many people consider them a separate race.
[Sorry, the link is too long - 250 characters max]
Boston metro area is 77.8% non-hispanic white.
Austin metro area is 56.7% non-hispanic white.
Houston metro area is 43.0% non-hispanic white.
Dallas metro area is 52.7% non-hispanic white.
San Antonio metro area is 37.8% non-hispanic white.
Texas is 47.8% non-hispanic white.
I'd say Boston is pretty different from Texas. The markets are probably different too.

Your numbers are off, not counting white-hispanics as white would actually decrease the number of people counted as white. Therefore my point is even better illustrated, by even your numbers, that there are no major retail markets for porn which would not have a demand for non-white pornstars. Or, in other words, there are no major retail markets for porn in which covers with black porntars would not sell. Not to mention, some white people like black pornstars too.

By the way, my numbers are correct according to the source I gave you. I have no idea where you got your numbers.

Studies on racial issues generally are done by those who have an underlying agenda to begin with, so unfortunately I have to say that any studies that claim that black women are seen in our society as being the least attractive women of all ethnicities is complete BS when it comes to attitudes and views of black women over the past decade - especially over the past 5 years.
In regards to any study that DOES claim such results - I'd have to ask - who exactly was polled and was it an adequate cross section of men - most likely it wasn't.
Black porn does sell. Period. I am living proof. Close to 80% of my living income is earned solely from my website and webcam shows. I do not escort. I do not go on dance tours. I do not earn residuals from any past porn content I have been a part of.
My website features no one else but me - SOLO. I don't have any IR scenes and I don't have any black on black scenes on my site. The only material on my site is solo videos and photos of myself and last time I checked, I'm very black. I'm not "mulatto", I don't have a fair complexion and I can not pass for anything other than African-American - that's right I'm just a skinny all natural little BLACK woman - yet my fan base comes from all ethinicities, cultures and from many countries...
If I can manage to support myself through my website independently without having a degree in marketing or any real experience in promoting adult content, I really can't believe that large studios can't and don't find the black talent market to be a lucrative enough venture to put time and marketing dollars into (yep, the BS stench is getting stronger).
Social programming does effect some people - if they have a low IQ - but most likely those individuals really have nothing to do with porn sales because in this economy they can't afford to BUY porn.
Who actually BUYS porn (DVDs and online distributed content)? People with an above average expendable income. Generally people with an above average income also have an above average IQ which makes them less suseptable to social programming - especially when it comes to whether they find someone of ANY ethnicity attractive or not.
I believe and am close to being able to prove that the reason that porn sales are on the decline, is due to the quality of not only the content but the actual talent having declined substantially over the past few years.
Take a real good hard look at most women in porn. Less than 5% are attractive enough to ever have made it in the current mainstream entertainment market if they'd chosen to take the mainstream route rather than the adult route. The current porn industry has allowed many of it's talent to "get away with" looking like crap. I won't name names here, but many women in porn who are overly promoted really need to shed a quite few pounds and take better care of themselves overall.
Those who market porn, studio owners, distributors, directors, etc - really do buy into the "study" that "PornLaw" referenced....which is why they overshoot and over distribute just about anything with blond hair and blue eyes....yet they wonder why the sales are continually declining.... It's not just the tube sites causing the decline.
People with an above average income, especially in America when it comes to finding someone "attractive" have begun to look more at body type and fitness level than ethnicity. A woman with a Victoria's Secret supermodel build is seen as superior (more attractive) than a shorter woman with a rounder/chubbier build or frame. Typically the men who DO prefer the rounder women with extreme curves are those from blue collar backgrounds and/or with recent ties to 3rd world cultures.
Enter Tori Black. Tori Black is not just popular because she's a young white woman. Tori Black is popular because she looks like she walked right out of the Victoria's Secret catalog into the porn circuit (plus she's an excellent performer and actress). I'd like to see someone take an asian girl and a black girl with her same physical traits and market them. With the same degree of marketing that Tori has had, they'd gain the same level of popularity and success.
The porn market hasn't really caught on to this trend of body type being more important than ethnicity. Why? Most likely because the individuals who produce porn DO have their own personal preferences which is fine - to each their own - and often are older men (who are often from backgrounds of which they weren't very exposed to other ethinicities) who aren't really with the times.
All in all, the whole theory and issue of black and IR porn not selling well enough for the current studio owners and distributors, has to do with the studios not shooting the TYPE of black talent that men who'd buy the black porn want to see (here's a tip: men of non-black ethinicities who will buy the majority of porn featuring black women want to see black women who look like models), and a bit with studios and distributors simply not knowing HOW to market the content properly.
Most likely those in the porn industry who are blatently displaying their negative discriminitory attitudes towards black women will continue doing so. I would be SHOCKED to see a black contract girl signed with Vivid, Wicked, A&E or DP anytime soon. I'd also be FLOORED to see many (if any) black women win any AVN's anytime soon.
One poster here hit the nail on the head when they said "OK, maybe porn isn't for black women". Is porn the current porn market really for black female performers? Nope. I for one am done performing for any other studio with the exception of my upcoming label/studio. Not the Cosbys XXX 2 is most likely the very last release I'll be in via a studio outside of my own.
I refuse to take lower wages than my counterparts of other ethinicities. I refuse not to receive the same role opportunities, and I refuse to not be marketed as heavily as others due to my skin color.
This isn't just about whether someone should or shouldn't boycott the AVNs - this is about a group of people running an industry with an attitude that belongs back in the 1950s. Very very very sad.
Yea, people here will totally disagree with me and counter me on many of my points in this post, and that's fine - however I'm pretty on point with the issue of needless and unjustifiable discrimination in the current porn market.
See you at the Xbiz awards tonight peeps. :)
