WARNING!!! I took out a £1.00 2 day membership trial on Brazzers. Most of the scenes are the usual "suck and fuck" safe couples type sex, albeit with hot babes and good production standards. Because of the lack of edge in the well shot scenes, I canceled the trial membership as requested in the sign up, within 2 days of taking out the trial membership, I was then sent an e-mail confirming that my membership had been canceled. I checked that my membership was canceled on the site 3 days later,
but my login was still active, so I canceled Brazzers again. I then checked my debit card, it had been charged £39,95 for a months full membership, taken on the same day I took out the $1.00 trial. I think the £1.00 trial is a hook with a big (50 cents a day viewing) worm on it. Having cancelled again I Hope I won't be charged next month, I think membership must be down on Brazzers and they are trying to get new members and $$$$ in the bank. Has any other ADT members had any problems with Brazzers and membership payments?

If all this happened as you describe it, it is probably only a problem within the payment processing company.
Is it localbilling? Never had any trouble with them (they handle brazzers payment for germany). That doesn't mean that you can't have a problem though, nothing is failsafe.
You should contact them and describe your problem.

Doesn't surprise me but call your creditcard company asap and tell them about the fraude. They will give you your money back and I hope they will do a research about this scam through their billing processor.

____________________________________________________________________________________

I have been charged another £18.69 by the same Brazzers billing company, 3 days after the £39.95 Brazzers payment was removed from my bank account. I have contacted Brazzers by e-mail twice, but all I get back is a automated response. In the e-mail they give a U.S.A contact telephone number (I'm U.K based) they also give you the option of a heavily discounted monthly rate if you don't cancel your membership (worth knowing if you like Brazzers). I will contact my debit card company to see if they can trace why I have been charged £59.00 = ($96.00) for my £1.00 Brazzers trial.

Bram who runs Brazzers someting posts here so maybe he can help you but it's a shame that you don't get any answer to your e-mails. Brazzers is doing their own billing so that's the problem. I mostly only join sites if they use ccbill as their billing because I trust ccbill, they never screwed me!
Did you try to call their Billing Support. The number is on their Support Services page.

As Ramsey, mentioned, Bramm (Bramm_Brazzers) is a member here (he posted yesterday). His profile is set to accept e-mails. So, you might want to search for a topic in which Bramm has posted in, and drop him a note (just click on the envelope at the top of one of his posts).

Few months ago I tryed to get a free membership with Sexkey and had to agree with a 3 day trial of Porn King and all of this was thru ccbill. I cancelled after two days and was not only charged $39.95 but two other companies charged me $39.95 and $29.95. It was like my credit card got passed around the internet. Will never do a trial period for anything.

It sounds like what you're being charged with hidden cross sales. It's a shady way to do business.
Basically, what these companies do is charge you $1 to access THEIR site, but in the fine print, they tell you that you're also signing up for 2 additional sites. These additional sites may be free for a day or so, but then you get hit with the additional $40 fees on various sites. So, in the end, you think you joined 1 site for $1, but you really joined 3 sites for like $80 or something.
A lot of big companies do it and I think it's an incredibly shitty thing to do. Stuff like this is killing the industry because more consumers aren't trusting their credit cards in the hands of pornographers. I don't blame them.

I'd look everywhere when signing up for a site, often there are boxes at the bottom of the site where you're signing up for something else unless you uncheck the box, then you should be charged only for the site you wanted to sign up for.

jettyman, let us know what happens.
I expect to see Bram give us an explanation of what happened, this is BS in my opinion. I have considered joining but not after seeing this.

I am near the end of a one-year membership with Brazzers.
This set of posts makes me think that I should keep an eye on how they might try to re-bill me--if at all.
Please do let us know how this turns out.

I personally would never ever join with a trial because like hooligan wrote there's almost always a catch, like more billing or limited access to the site. I actually once was billed also more than the trial cost by some other site and when I e-mailed the company they said they could refund me BUT they will put me one some kind of black list so I couldn't join a lot of sites who use the same billing. From then I vowed never to do a trial again.

I just took a look at Brazzers join page. There is a cross sale on it that is checked. It reads:
Get access to BrazzersReel.com with over 15000+ scenes for only $1. After 3 days, the membership renews monthly at $29.97
So, here's the breakdown. You join Brazzers for $1 but if you don't uncheck the cross sale option, you're also charged another $1 for this BrazzersReel.com site, too. This cross sale will rebill at $29.97 after 3 days.
So, judging by your initial email. You probably joined Brazzers and didn't uncheck the cross sale. When you joined, you may have received 2 emails stating you joined. Maybe you thought they were duplicate mails? Maybe you got only 1 mail? I'm not sure of their billing methods. However, it appears that you only canceled one of the two sites, which is why you were hit with the rebill.
I'm in the online adult game. I know the tactics a lot of these companies do and I think it totally sucks. It's an impulse by and they know you're dick is in one hand and you're just rushing to join. Most consumers completely miss the cross sale option and companies bank on that.
However, to Brazzers credit, they did place the cross sale option ABOVE the submit button. There's a lot of shitty companies that put the option at the bottom of the page, which is against the credit card billers rules. But, they did have the option checked off, when they could have easily left it unchecked and had you check it if you were interested in the additional website. Again, they auto-check it for you because they know most people will skip over it.
My suggestion... whenever you join a pay site, read the entire page. Also, it's good practice to try and highlight ALL the text on the join page. I know of some companies that put the cross sales in white text on a white page. This way, you can not even see it.
Aside from that, there are many honest billing websites out there. Not all porn sites are evil. You just can't trust any of them at face value anymore. Be a smart consumer and read what you're truly purchasing. It's a shame because these dickheads are fucking it up for all the honest sites out there.

They always make the cross sale very small that you hardly see it! That's a scam!

Absolutely. They also have the option to leave the check box UN-checked and let you decide if you want to purchase the additional site but don't because they know more people than not will go ahead and make the purchase without realizing the additional subscription.
And like you mentioned... the disclaimer for the cross sale is always in the smallest possible font. It's obvious they don't want you to notice it.

A breakdown of charges from my account incurred for a $1.00 Brazzers.com trial, which I cancelled on July 2nd before full membership kicked in.
July 1st
£0.63
£1.00
£39.00
July 3rd
£18.69
This = $96.00 I'll keep you posted with my findings...J.
Brazzers should not take the full membership money at the same time as the trial money, it should take it after 48 hours if you don't cancel.

True because they should give you the chance to cancel in those 2 days!
Btw, I joined Brazzers more than a year ago when they were still good and I don't remember having the same problem as you but I didn't do the trial. I got a full membership right away.

I looked at the signup thing today. You definitely need to cancel the trial thing before two days are up otherwise the fees like $40 bucks-- not sure why. The basic fee to use just the Brazzer's network is $25, it's another $10 to add in Mofo-- not sure what that is, more sites I assume but even that's cheaper than if you just went from doing the trial to accepting the site which doesn't make sense. If you get everything for the trial and decide to keep then it should be just $34.95. Again carefully read everything as there is a box checked on the second page after you click the join now icon, uncheck it and you shouldn't be charge for that offer. Didn't see any other boxes checked besides the one.

hey guys...
not really sure how we do the whole billing process. i know we do use process companies such as ccbill and localbilling, so the issue may be on that end.
best option would probably be to just contact the guys on our support staff...or, let me know what your username is and ill see what i can do, since ill be passing by the head office on tuesday
ill try to help out as best i can... but unfortunately i only work on the production side, and im very unfamiliar with policies regarding billing and limited memberships
hope this helps...
btw, just to clarify, i don't "run" brazzers...i just direct for them lol

Not true, there's no option to join Brazzers through ccbill.
So maybe your boss is running a scam without you knowing about it?

It's called "damage control".
Don't be fooled... they know what they're doing. It absolutely IS NOT a 3rd party biller problem such as CCBill and LocalBilling. Brazzers is in 100% control of what the consumer gets charged. Trust me. I'm in the business. I know how it works.

That's right. The guy has to say he's gonna help, what else can he say? I mean I don't like the way he was putting the blame on a third party while Brazzers controls every part of the billing!

Well spotted Jimmy Hooligan. When i took out the Brazzers trial 2 e-mails landed in my inbox both looked exactly the same, so I deleted one of them thinking I had a double hit e-mail. I had no idea that I had joined the Brazzersreel trial and paying the $1.00 (£0.63)for doing so. I have since checked my deleted items, the second e-mail is still there, they look exactly the same but one reads www.brazzerreel.com instead of www.brazzers.com which I did not notice and obviously did not cancel the Brazzerreel.
I have now cancelled the Brazzerreel membership and received a cancellation e-mail. I put down the £0.63 and the £18.69 loss to my own stupidity and eagerness to see the trial of the Brazzers content and not unticking an unseen box for other sites. Once again thanks to Jimmy Hooligan for his insight and to all the other posters who helped with my problem, this is a prime example how this excellent ADT forum works.
That still leaves the problem of Brazzers charging for a trial and a full (overpriced) membership on the same day, so when I canceled the next day (within the 48 hours) it was too late, I was already a fully paid up member. The billing company is not Epoch, cc bill or LocalBilling, it came up as manstermed.com on my statement. There is no link to this company on the membership activated e-mail I received, so you have to contact Brazzers to cancel. Even if you send an e-mail stating your problems with the payments and your unhappiness, you only get a stock automated response. Also on the join Brazzers page after the list of prices for membership, it lists epoch.com as the management provider, I e-mailed epoch about my payment problems, they e-emailed me back very promptly stating that they were unable to locate any account with my name, user name or password on there files, it all gets very confusing. I will keep you posted with any news how things are doing...J.

^I just found a link on their site that will let you get real-time, live support via chatting with a rep.
If you log-in to their main page and go down to "help" (lower right side of page), the link that you click will take you to a page with a button for live support.
Maybe this can help you.
Also...I am thinking that you may have been charged the full month b/c many of these sites require three days or more notice to cancel a membership...since you were within the three days, they might have charged automatically.
This, of course, would be an absolute scam b/c you could never cancel a trial membership, then.
Just some ideas...

There used to be a program, i forget the name now. You would copy and paste user agreements into it, and it would find unusual words, cross sales, spyware bundles, etc... for you and point them out to you so you didn't have to read the entire agreement. Quite a handy thing to have. I will search around to try and find this program again.

Hi guys, Brazzers have finally got back to me. They sent an e-mail with this reason for charging me £39.95 at the same time as a £1.00 (that's a total of $65.52 US)
____________________________________________________________
Thank you for contacting us.
When you signed up there was an offer given to you if you would like to immediately upgrade your membership. You took that offer and that's why you were billed the 39.95 for the one month's upgrade.
____________________________________________________________
Question 1,
Why on earth would I, or anyone "knowingly" sign up to upgrade to a full membership at the same time as taking out a trial membership.
Question 2
Brazzers seem to charge 39.95 somethings, in my case it was UK Sterling. If I lived in Hong Kong would it be 39,95 HK Dollars (about $6,00 US) and I would have probably written it off without warning others.
This whole Brazzers money making trial has left a nasty taste in my mouth. They suck you in with pictures and trailers of pornographic delights, they offer you a $1.00 trial for you to taste what's on the menu, only to litter the road with booby traps and ambushes to empty you pockets while the lights are in your eyes.
It looks like instead of paying $1.00 I'm paying $96.00 for not unticking a couple of small boxes on a trial membership, I think I have learnt costly lesson. This whole episode has put me off joining any porn producing streaming/downloading websites, I will just stick with company's that stream/download studio movies/scenes.
Thanks for all the input from ADT members on this thread, it's been a real help and a great soapbox to air my frustration with Brazzers. I hope this thread has been useful to other members who might be tempted to try a Brazzers trial, by highlighting the pitfalls of signing up........Jettyman UK.

jettyman, don't accept this crap from those thieves. Call or write your creditcard company and tell them the website charged you more than you wanted and they will reclaim your money from brazzers. They have the right to do that for a period of time. If you don't do this brazzers will keep on stealing because they think nobody will complain!

It's true, your credit card company can do a lot for you in these types of situations. They simply have more pull with other companies, and it's worth it for them to do a tiny bit of fighting on your behalf every once in a while in order to keep you happy (and thus, keep your business).
Contact them ASAP jettyman.

Hi all,
I have been overbilled with trial offers a few times over these past two years and it's not pleasant at all.
Thanks to jettyman and all people here for letting us know what is really going on with such a company. At least, other users will be more selective.
I can dream, but it would be to have a black list of all companies that do tricks like that. Too bad that it tarnishes the industry compared to what good companies such as Bella Donna and Annette Schwarz's ones do.

Let me pose a real world analogy as to why this is a very poor and borderline unethical business practice.
I run a movie theater, and Patron A (let's call him Jim) comes to my conc. stand. (let's call the worker Jane)
Let us conduct the hypothetical transaction two different ways, my company standard v. Brazzers.

Scenario A-"Real World"

Jim: "I would like one large popcorn, please"
Jane: "Okay sir, just to let you know, if you upgrade to a Tub for only .50 cents more, we offer free refills?"
Jim: "No thanks, I can't each that much popcorn"
Jane "Okay sir, your total is $4.25"
---Cut---

Scenario B-"Sneaky Way"

Jim: "I would like one large popcorn, please"
Jane: "Okay sir,"
Jim: {hands over credit card}
Jane "Okay sir, your total is $20.25"
Jim: "For one popcorn?"
Jane "No sir, for the tub of popcorn, large cola, nachos and candy. You see up on the menu, 3x smaller than anything else on the menu, it clearly states that unless you say you don't want something we can charge you for whatever we want. So I gave you the family pack. You never said you didn't want it."
-----------CUT--------------

As anyone can see, forcing a consumer to say what they don't want is a horrible, deceitful business practice by any ethical standards.
In the first scenario, Jane did her job by attempting to upsell by asking and informing the customer about a possible better deal. The customer politely refused.
To relate this to the internet porn world, if Brazzers had a separate page that stated in 12pt + font "Hey, if you sign up for a full membership today, you get 20% off. Would you like to do that?" then I would be fine with that, but sneaking it in and automatically saying yes for the consumer and forcing the consumer to say no is highly dubious to say the least.

I've been tempted to get trial memberships, but am very leery of giving my credit card info online. Based on what's posted here I probably made the right decision. Has anyone ever done a trial at primecups.com, claudia-marie.com, or jeanswings.com?

the reason I've stayed away from trial memberships is....
well, aren't they all kind of intended to bill you for a full month at least?
Like, has there ever (in the history of internet porn) been a 3 day trial membership that DIDN'T automatically bill you for the full month?
I thought that's just what they do. The prevailing climate.

Thanks jettyman (and others) for exposing this underhanded tactic.
I'm so leery of trial memberships and sneaky rebill maneuvers that I totally avoid anything with automatic-rebill. I feel safer to pay the $5 extra (seems the going rate) for the no-rebill option because I fear I will forget to cancel in time or the company will orchestrate some sort of "glitch" so my cancellation will not happen. But I never knew about such dirty "opt-out" tricks like Brazzers is doing.
I will definitely read extra closely the small print and checkboxes from now on.

I only trust trials if they're going through ccbill. ccbill is a very good processor who never screwed in the 9 years I'v been joining sites. same for ibill but they're not in business anymore.

Aside from these practices being highly unethical, these companies are really biting the hand that feeds them. Sure, they may get a quick windfall from some unsuspecting consumers, but all the money they will ever get from that consumer, starts and ends there. They would have a much more stable and longer lasting business if they did not burn their bridges behind them. Provide a customer with a good service, at a reasonable fee, with no trickery, and you have them for life. With the access we have to information via the Internet today, dodgy companies get exposed pretty quickly.
