I have just recently read a sex toy review about some jelly beads and it got me really interested in trying to put something in my rear just to see if it felt good. My girlfriend plays with me back there and it feels good, so what advice to you have for a guy who wants to try the forbidden pleasure of the butt plug or anal beads...is this wrong of me? Thanks

I don´t get it, Lambchop... For YEARS, you lived with Shari Lewis´ hand stuck up your ass. What the heck do you need a butt plug for?

Just kidding, just kidding...

I've recently gotten into this area myself. My advice would be to take it slow.. Buy some good lube and a small buttplug to start off with and just take it slow. Theres nothing wrong with it. I think that if you like it and its not hurting anybody, go for it.

And now, I have a question that I hope I can get answered here rather than start a new topic. I bought a plug, I believe it was by Doc Johnson, the smallest one I could find and after only 2 uses, I noticed that its developed a tear near the flared base. I'm scared to use it too much longer because I don't want the thing to break off in there. :) Now my question would be can anyone recommend a good sturdy plug for a beginner/intermediate? I've even considered trying out a small dildo with testicles (as a flared base) thinking it might be tougher. Any suggestions at all in this area? Thanks.

My new butt plug from Vixen Creations just arrived yesterday. I am extremely happy with this high-quality product. I got the Rocket model, but a variety of sizes and shapes are available to suit your needs.

Vixen Creations is owned and operated by women, but don't let that scare you away. I believe in equal-opportunity pleasure, so if you're a straight male and you like sticking toys up your butt, go for it! A lot of us straight women find that very sexy.

My review of the Rocket should be available soon; I'll post a link when it's ready.

Looking forward to the review of the Vixen Creations plug. I looked at their site and read a couple reviews of some of their dildos on Adult DVD Empire and they seem to be really good toys. A bit pricier than others but I would gladly pay the extra money for a good quality toy that will last than something like the plug I got that tore after only 2 uses. :) Thanks.

The review is now available here.

Thanks for your interest, Jeesmith. I think you are wise to retire your damaged toy. Happy shopping!

There are quite a few on-line, non-mainstream shops that carry the Vixen Creations line of toys, as well as other silicone toys.

You can try http://www.blowfish.com, http://www.goodvibes.com, and http://www.babeland.com, just to name a few. The quality of these shops is much higher than most.

Welcome to the forum, Griff! I would agree that those are classy places to shop.

Unfortunately, the broken vibrator mentioned in my review came from Good Vibrations. I can't really fault them, though. They're quite upfront about the fact that battery vibes aren't built to last. They test each one before they ship and they offer a 30-day guarantee (if I remember correctly), which is about as good as can be expected.

In case anyone is curious, the model that I had a problem with is the Blue Hawaiian. It's supposed to be waterproof, so I took it in the bathtub the first time I used it. When one of the motors died a few months later, I gently disassembled the vibe to see if I could make a repair. (I figured it was a broken wire. I'm not exactly a mechanical whiz, but I know how to use a soldering iron.)

I discovered that the motor was rusted out. Apparently, moisture had leaked across the seal. I tried cleaning the motor with cotton swabs dipped in rubbing alcohol, followed by a thorough saturation of WD-40. This eliminated a significant amount of corrosion, but still no luck.

Live and learn. I don't suppose anyone knows a source of replacement motors?

Returning to lambchop's original question, you should consider purchasing the Bendover Boyfriend videos. Blowfish sells them. The first one is more instructional.
These tapes will introduce you to the concept of having your lady strapping on a dildo and giving it to you hard.

There are some things that the tapes can't tell you. For example, they cannot tell you what you are going to like. (The fact that you like some anal stimulation does not mean that you will like all anal stimulation.)

Therefore, my suggestion for you as a beginner is to buy a couple of cheap jelly dildos (not beads or plugs) and let your girlfriend stimulate you with those while she is back there. Get one smooth and one textured (i.e., veiny). Both should be relatively thin (no large, Doc Johnson ballsy supercocks for you, my friend), no more than an inch to an inch and a quarter in diameter. That way, you can get a sense of what you like for less than $25 (silicone is expensive). REMEMBER: use lots of lube. I prefer Probe (the thicker version) and Maximus, both available at Blowfish.

Once you've decided whether you like smooth or textured, you can move up to silicone. If you like textured, go Tantrus instead of Vixen Creations. Otherwise go, Vixen Creations.

P.S. -- YogaGrrl, I'm glad you enjoyed VC's Rocket. It's about the only VC buttplug that seems interesting but that I don't own yet. (I have three Vixen Creations anal toys, all told. Four, if you include Fever, which I got for my wife.)

Just wanted to thank Griff for all that advice. I went shopping with my girlfriend at several of the toy shops in manhattan today. Anyway tonite I used the toys on her and she used them on me. We got a fairly small red jelly buttplug with a vibrator remote. I took that fine. Didn't do much for me although it did feel pretty good. Then I took in those plastic anal beads. Not the ones attached to a string but the one that is just one plastic piece. It was a smaller one. I didn't like that because when she pulled it out it had shit on the end which wasn't very sexy. Same thing when I pulled it out of her ass. But anyway it was a fine experience and I might try some of your ideas.

I agree with Griff; that is all excellent advice! Although my review touts the merits of an expensive toy, I don't think there's anything wrong with starting cheap. Just remember that you're engaging in a learning process, and that it's fairly typical for inexpensive toys to break after only a few uses (see Jeesmith's post above).

When I was shopping for the Rocket butt plug, I also considered at the Tantrus plugs at Blowfish. They look nice, as well. If I ever want another plug (and there's certainly no law that says you can only have one), I might get a Tantrus. Griff may be a new member, but he sounds like an old hand at anal play...

Caneboy, I was interested to read in another thread that you recently converted to vegetarianism. A diet that's high in fiber (25+ grams per day) should keep your intestinal tract healthy, and that alone should eliminate (sorry, bad pun) much of the problem. I've been a pesco-vegetarian for nearly eight years. Even with my clean diet, however, I have seen actual chunks of doo on two occasions. One time (about two years ago), I must have been gaping a bit, because a quarter-sized piece of poop just sort of fell out onto the sheets. More recently a small, squashed gob stuck to the head of my husband's precious lingam when he withdrew. I was appalled both times, but fortunately my man has a good sense of humor.

A plug that's dark in color will make it harder to see any traces of fecal matter. You can pretend it's not there while you carry your toy to the sink for clean-up. That's what I do, and I try to remember this little mantra from Chloe: "Get over your fear of shit!" Happy probing...

yoga,
thanks for the advice. Yeah it was this thing came out with shit on it for both of us: [ invalid url ]figured no matter what we would do short of an enema that would happen. But your saying if I eat 25 grams of fiber that it would be nearly clean all the time? Interesting. I'll have to try it and pass the word along to my girl. Thanks.

Hi again, Caneboy!

Sorry, I can't make any promises that 25 grams of fiber per day will guarantee cleanliness. I do know that 25-30 grams is nutritionally sound for most people, whereas the typical American diet is probably closer to 10-15. It is true that I eat a diet high in fiber, am very regular, and thus normally observe only very small traces of fecal matter after anal play (I've never stuck a ten-inch toy up there, however).

I suspect it's going to be an extra challenge for you to get that much fiber. I have family members in NYC that I visit occasionally, so I know what the lifestyle is like. Food is abundant and available in all ethnic flavors, but it tends to be on the rich and fatty side. The constant fast-paced walking seems to be the main thing that keeps New Yorkers skinny.

I suspect that the only way to absolutely ensure hygienic anal sex is to use an enema a few hours beforehand. I've never tried that myself, but you can check Tristan Taormino's site for more info.

In view of how many folks have viewed this topic, I figured it might be worth it to extend the discussion slightly.

The question: why the hell would a guy be interested in being the recipient of butt play (i.e., being the catcher instead of the pitcher)?

Everybody understands why guys want to stick their dicks in their lady's/guy's ass: it's a nice tight hole. But what motivates a guy to take it up his own ass?

The answer, of course, is personal to every guy who wants that kind of thing, but I think I can give some insight into it and, hopefully, encourage other straight guys (like me) who are interested in exploring this aspect of their sexuality to go for it.

Even for those most averse to anal sex, the anus remains an errogenous zone. I've been with many women who are vehemently anti-anal sex but enjoy some stimulation down there. Regardless of whether you want somebody to stick something in your ass, though, it generally feels good when your lover pays attention to that area.

Still, that does not explain why you would want to go to the next level and actually stick something up there, so here goes.

There are three distinct sensations that can be achieved through anal penetration: (1) friction, (2) fullness, and (3) prostate simulation.

The killer one here is prostate simulation. Try sticking your finger up your own ass while jacking off. You will find the prostate gland in no time, as it tends to grow with your state of arousal/excitement. Imagine where you dick ends inside your body, and the prostate is there. There is no better orgasm than when the prostate is stimulated. Seriously.

When it comes to anal toys, things like butt plugs emphasize the sensation of fullness. There is no guarantee that a butt plug will stimulate your prostate. The damn butt plug is just there, and it can be irritating after awhile. Exception: inflatable buttplugs like the Masked Bandit at mypleasure.com can be inflated to give a sense of intense fullness and intense prostate stimulation. (Two thumbs up!)

Anal toys like anal beads and bloop sticks emphasize the friction sensation. All of the friction sensation is between the two sphincters in your ass. Beads are designed to pass one at a time through this region, so that the feeling of friction/fullness is at its maximum for a brief period of time.

Personally, for the friction sensation, I prefer textured dildos (smooth dildos just make you feel full). Beads tend to require your sphincters to close and open over and over again, while they both stay open when using a dildo, which allows you to concentrate on the friction sensation rather than constantly trying to relax to allow penetration.

Which brings us full circle to my personal reasons for wanting and enjoying anal penetration: relaxation. In order to enjoy receiving anal sex, you have to relax completely. And once you get to that relaxed state, there is just nothing better than the three sensations.

One guy's thoughts . . .

I agree. I had one ex-g/f diddle my bits and I had one of the most intense orgasms ever. Man, I miss her. :(

Anyways, what toys do you suggest for prostate stimulation?

Best toy for prostate stimulation?

The finger. It's free. It's slender. It's flexible. And, when it's your own finger, you can't miss.

If you are worried about ruining your manicure, just use a latex glove. You can get about 100 of them for 10 bucks at any drug store. (No matter what, cut your nails before venturing down there.)

If you want to purchase a toy that you can use solo, your best bet is one of those inflatable butt plugs (like the masked bandit at mypleasure.com). Again, you can't miss.

If you want a toy that somebody can use on you, again the finger is probably the best place to start. Otherwise, you want some kind of dildo (not a butt plug) that your partner can manipulate. If you are just starting with anal play, go thin.

Beware of highly curved dildos intended for g-spot/prostate stimulation. Sometimes, the curve makes the damn thing too thick to take comfortably. Remember, you have to make it through 2 sphincter muscles to get to the prostate, and the space between the sphincters can only stretch so much (without lots and lots of practice.)

good post. Thanks. Whats wrong with butt plugs? I got my girlfriend a butt plug and I agree, once its in there there is no real pleasure felt. I know because i let her put it in my ass as well (its pretty small). Anyway, what is the purpose of butt plugs then if they don't provide much pleasure, stimulation?

Hi, Caneboy!

For me, the appeal of my butt plug (and I currently own only one) is about 50% physical and 50% psychological. As my nickname might suggest, I really enjoy stretching, and my plug is just large enough to provide a great sensation of stretch. If I move around while wearing it, I also get a little internal massage, which is very subtle yet still quite pleasant.

The psychological pleasure comes from the taboo factor. Except for my husband, it's highly unlikely that anyone who knows me by my true name would ever suspect that I'm the type of grrl who likes to stick things up my butt. And I'm quite sure my mother would not have approved (blessings on her soul).

Caneboy asked "Anyway, what is the purpose of butt plugs then if they don't provide much pleasure, stimulation? "

First, remember that fullness is one of the three key sensations. Some people care most about that sensation, and the butt plug is configured so it stays in.

Second, as YogaGrrl says, there is the naughty factor. Some people like walking around plugged (I find the damn things too uncomfortable to do that).

Third, butt plugs are a great warm up to more active stimulation. By being in place, they help you relax your sphincter muscles. That way, with just a little bit of extra lube, you are ready for a bendover boyfriend experience.

I'd start w/ anal beads first. Well, on second thought, start w/ a finger, then anal beads, vibrator, butt plug. In that order. That's what I did. I didn't like anal at first, but now I love it! Somedays I prefer it over vaginal. It's truly a different feeling, but a good one at that.

Thanks for the very cool link, Benny! I may have to e-mail the Vixens at some point and ask them about the "Mighty," since I don't see it here at their US site.

Blowfish offers some good advice on a host of topics, plus they sell a lot of the high quality silicone toys they talk about (including all Vixen Creations stuff). Here's a link

Does anyone have any experience with the plugs sold by Hatar? I never heard of them until now.
