| warrenwest67 Member Thanks for the mammaries. 966 Posts 1/07 | I am interested in finding out how to capture stills from WMP or Real Player files. I have seen stills around that look like they came from WMP. I have a program that will do caps from DVD's. But is there a way to capture from WMP files? [ invalid url ] [Link] |

To access the program, click on Start-> All Programs-> Windows Movie Maker. Once open, all you have to do is drag the wmv file in the main area and drop. Click on the file and then you'll be able to play and take a still of the file by using the window to the right that will show the file you just dropped. The controls are as follows from left to right. Play, Stop, Back, and the 2 most important of this bunch, Previous Frame , Next Frame , then Forward. Further to the right, is Split the clip..., and the most important of the two, Take Picture . Once you click on Take Picture, it automatically generates a file name and defaults to My Pictures where you can save it if you choose to do so. This is the simplest of procedures that takes the best quality pics I'm aware of that's free. There may be others, but this is more than adequate. What I really like about using this program is that I haven't experienced any bleeding or blurry stills yet. Post a reply so I know if you read and tried the program. P.S. Don't forget to delete the files in the program when you're done. You should delete the file you dragged and dropped, and to the far left under Collections, delete the file name there also. |

Not a great image by any means but it worked. More later once I am back in action. |

| warrenwest67 Member Thanks for the mammaries. 966 Posts 1/07 | I did get ImageGrabber. It is very easy to use. Great for "contact prints" just like the example I linked to. But I wasn't clear that I was looking for a bit more quality. But I found a program that came w/ my printer. It does just what I need it do. I makes quality JPEG's on the fly. So basically I ran thru all this B.S. bugging you guys and I had the tool all along right in front of me. I love stills almost as much as video. Maybe its a control issue on my part but thanks for helping make my work a lot easier. |

Like you said, there must be something missing from it. Is that a factory built computer, or is it one that was put together from scratch? Also, what is the error message you're getting? Just curious, inquiring minds want to know. |

Sometimes these types of programs may have a codec that causes a conflict with other similar programs. In the meantime, try the link below to see if alleviates the problem. If it doesn't work, at least your computer should run quicker. The link is to a thread in this same category (Tech Talk) under the Topic, RegFix Mantra that I posted not that long ago about a Registry Repair program that's free and has some info about it. I just updated it with some added info I didn't mention earlier. Make sure you read both posts because the first one I posted has the direct link to download the program. Good luck and let me know what happened. Info about Free Window Registry Repair |
