They have consistently got top-tier female and male talent and none of the scenes I've seen so far were lacking in my book. As for frequency, yes there are a couple other sites with higher frequency, but IMO the quality tradeoff is definitely in DarkX's favor. Just my personal 2 cents worth, but I would rather have 1 dope weekly update, than 2 semi-decent updates per week. I think only Dogfart updates that much anyway, but I better leave that alone before I vent out my frustrations with Billy Watson. I almost loathe their product and it makes me want to sock Billy in the fucking mouth. Seriously every time I see a poorly lit circus act he's shooting over there makes me want to get violent and strangle him shouting "WHY DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND HOW LIGHT AND SHADOWS WORK? YOU'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 15 FUCKING YEARS!" I really want to slap him around and choke his doughboy ass out. Just kidding.... but not really... I digress... So yeah, Dogfart updates the most out of all the IR sites, but it's really just fast food they deliver. A revolving door of hit or miss guests... eh... Blacked is interesting, and I applaud their effort but I think theirs is a craft I more admire than enjoy. For all the thought they put into lighting and photography, the very minimalist camera movement is kind of a sedative. I think the novelty is wearing off a bit. That's why I love DarkX's blend of narrative and gonzo. I love Mason's camera work. It's truly the best of both worlds. There's creative narrative angles, like the overhead shot of AJ Applegate as she's walking up the stairs in the intro to her upcoming scene. Even though it was brief, shots like this lend a great impact toward the overall effect that transcends the framework of run of the mill porn. And then Mason changes gears with in-your-face cinema verite gonzo. I wouldn't change anything about the course they are on. Only nag remaining offers the reliable refrain: MORE! [Link] |

The difference is not as dramatic as we discerning and very analytical types of fans here on the ADT forums may sometimes make it out to be, and I personally will own up to highlighting the distinction with a magnifying glass sometimes. In this particular case, I did bring up the distinction. So that's on me. However, a more interesting aspect is, apart from the subtle casting differences, I think what helps the models stand out for DarkX, in my eyes, is the way Mason shoots them, often accentuating their curves and booties, and exemplary strip-tease skills. I try not to speak for the next brotha, much less a whole demographic, but lord help me, the babes Mason picks and the way she shoots them is pure kryptonite to me. Look, the girls on Blacked are gorgeous and glamorous also. It makes for fancy photography, which TBH, I think may be my favorite part of their brand - the stills. That's not a jab, it's a genuine compliment about their unique style. But I just love the way the teases in Mason's gonzo work just set the whole place on fire. The way the girls pose for her. We don't see twerking like that on Blacked. Again, this just underscores why I love what DarkX provides, and I believe Mason brings the best out in the models from the tease, throughout the hardcore performance, and into the post-game interviews. I sometimes wonder if the fact of Mason's being a female directing things contributes to that, like maybe she can connect with them better. Is it some sort of telepathic female wavelength she taps into? Are there biological cues the estrogen deficient male directors by contrast are simply blind to? I will admit I am a guy that prefers a slimmer girl (yes I am black) and it seems that Blacked does tend to have girls that fit that body type more often than not. But saying that it does not mean I can appreciate all different body types. Dark X seems to deliver better on the diversity of women's body types as well as looks. Just looking at the past 3 updates, sultry Asian beauty in Morgan Lee, blonde bombshell in Kagney, and the athletic brunette in Cassidy. And to Mr. F's point, he's right that, if we had to assume strictly based on the camera work, a mounted shot is likelier to be a feature/narrative style, while a handheld is likelier to be gonzo. It doesn't mean either method precludes it from being in either category though. But enough of semantics. Let's focus on what's hot and happening. I noticed DarkX's home video titles have consistently been best sellers. On one recent chart, DarkX and HardX held the #1 and 2 best selling DVD's for an impressive duration, and I think the latest of their DarkX releases has been their best selling DarkX video to date - the one with Abella Danger and Lex on the cover. Things seem to be rolling on the up and up for them. HardXJ recently tweeted something about a promotion. So that can only mean success. Have you ever thought of shooting tease scenes at night or at dusk and use some different lighting effects like the "airport runway" or have performers on camera with the illuminated city skyline in the backdrop before eventually coming inside?
