I am starting this thread at the suggestion of another.
Do you think degradation of women, simulated rape, scat, and other sick sided movies are good for the adult business?
IMO they are not.
I can see some light choking, spanking and rough sex, but beyond that, there seems to be people asking for stuff that could, COULD, spell trouble.

Not everybody has the same taste in porn. But porn that shows some kind of possibly forced and unwilling sex by one of the partners can be bad for the whole business of porn.
Because clearly such sex is unethical in real life. And since a lot of the sex in porn is real and not simulated, one can reasonably argue that making and watching forced-sex kind of porn is unethical too.
When a guy slaps a lady around and then has sex with her. Then who can say whether she is willing or is being forced to have sex with the guy? Because slapping around the lady like that usually intimidates her and makes her less likely to object, even if it's something she doesn't want to do.

I think this really depends on your definition on 'good for the business'. Some people might spin it as being good from a business perspective i.e. you're tapping into a new niche market, so more viewers, pleasing fans etc. But personally I think this creates such a large, to a very serious extent, justified stigma to an already unfairly stigmatized industry. Morally i think most people will agree it is wrong to depict this sort of thing in such a graphic way let alone get off on it. Some of it sounds downright vile, I have as I'm sure others have to come across videos over the years of this sort of stuff and I can never bring myself to watch it without feeling very ill. I think it shouldn't exist.

The thing is that the government does get involved in the porn industry once in a while. And that's why making such porn can be bad for the whole business of porn.
When some porn clearly violates community standards of morality. Then all it takes is for the majority to elect politicians who will prosecute and persecute makers of such porn. And while they are at it, some overzealous politicians can make trouble for the whole porn industry in general.
The law is what the people choose to make and enforce. At least that's how it is in democratic countries. And this means that the law can easily make you an outlaw if you violate the community standards too much.

I know I'm idealistic when it comes to this. If someone is forced to do something against their will or if their rights are violated then someone should be prosecuted. Obscenity is a contrived bunch of bullshit and you can't or shouldn't legislate morality ! Use the fucking Constitution as your basis for law and it becomes a lot simpler. Of course there are those that can't interpret the Constitution for shit.

I worry about it less in terms of how it effects the industry, and more in terms of why people enjoy seeing women being abused (whether it's simulated or not - and sometimes it's not, but continues to sell). I'm strongly anti-censorship, though, so I'm not in favor of creative expression being stifled - this leaves me in a double-bind. I guess I wish we didn't live in a society where certain things are done for entertainment/pleasure, but censoring it won't solve the underlying issue.
With all that said, every entertainment industry is censored in some way, or the content is shaped according to known risks/ratings etc, so naturally porn has to play by the rules too.

I think it depends on what you mean by "good". If you mean good as in "image of the industry in the eyes of the public"... I think it's kind of irrelevant. Obviously it cannot help, but with christian influence and others (mostly religious types of course) a baby's bottom will be censored on a pampers commercial... so who cares, let the craziness prevail...
If you are talking more about "let's not push it too far and maybe we'll continue to be left alone doing "decent" stuff... etc... well it's really the same can of worms.
I totally agree with the idea that a community can set its own standards of what is "okay". But ultimately I would say it must be within the realm of the constitution (Amendment 18 says this I believe). With that in mind, as long as there is no harm being done to anyone, I think we all have a right to see what we wish. So if a guy wants to see simulated rape, it should be okay. The actors are not harmed, it was consensual. The viewer is not harmed, he or she WANTS to see it. So where is the harm?
The only real answer to this is some criminal argument; that it damages society as a whole... but sorry, now we're back into socialism and saying that the individual should not have the right to make up their own mind. There is no danger in myself for example seeing scat or rape (can't say I've seen either, ever, but that should not matter)... as I know I would not be more or less inclined to rape someone or eat shit, or feed it to another simply because I saw a movie about it. We see incredible violence all the time on TV... does it make the average Joe more violent? No, we should rely on our own ethics and beliefs and that should be enough to guide the behavior of society. We do NOT need law makers telling us what we can and cannot see.
Broad claim, are there exceptions? Of course... I'd say the same exceptions apply that do to a contract... where are the loopholes? The issue is of course, "who is fit to make these decisions?". In contract law, a minor is not fit, a person under the influence is not fit, a person who has been deemed mentally "unfit" is not fit. I think that's about it. Point being, clearly it does NOT apply to kiddie porn. Why not? Because even if the child were consensual, they are not in a position to make a proper decision upon which to base said consent. But to me, these are the only exceptions to the above argument. Snuff films would be okay as long as it's simulated and with consent, etc. Scat, pee, etc... should all be okay. I saw a couple on Jerry Springer once (great show eh?) who liked to puke into eachother's mouths and eat it.... so big deal, let them have their fun... and if they like to show it off, then let those who wish to see watch it.
To me hollywood, this is a slippery slope issue. You tell us we cannot show people peeing or drinking pee as it will "damage" the porn industry when that is kind of a contradiction to the lifeblood of the industry... "Free expression" is just that, and when you start chipping away at it, pretty soon the whole statue can crumble.
So what is next? I can't see a woman drink a gallon of cum if I want? Well then I don't even want to be a part of this planet!! Then after that, .... shall we say "anal sex" is going to far? Pretty soon the blowjob is in danger... and you KNOW that just made some eyebrows raise... my god, imagine if we were no longer allowed to see the likes of girls like Sasha Knox, or Brandy Lyons, or Michele Raven sucking on a penis... where would we be then???
Is feces or urine "erotic"???? Well, not to ME. I think it's pretty gross myself. But I think cum drinking is as erotic as it gets.... while others find THAT gross and completely unerotic. So all I'm saying is: Who is any of us to judge anyone else or what they find to be "sexual" or "erotic".
And as a person who likes the right to see whatever I want that is legal.... I'd like to make sure what is legal isn't a shrinking list.... as pretty soon the list is empty. Should we burn certain books? No, but I think it's okay to require someone to be 18 or 21 to buy them.
Besides, I'd rather look at the hypocrisy of society... who here has seen "Passion of the Christ"???? I saw it and as far as violence goes, I'd say it ranks up there with "5 faces of death". At one point in the movie, when I realized Jesus was losing like his 50th pint of blood, I couldn't help it and yelled out "OH CMON!!! NOBODY HAS THAT MUCH BLOOD!!!" That was not a good thing as my girlfriend's parents at the time were trying to convert me to the "truth" of Jesus and how he is a/the "Christ".
My point here is: THAT movie should be rated X... yet if you show a penis on film, it's just recently that it didn't have to be rated X. So penis is evil, ungodly amounts of blood is good... very strange to me. It says to me that our society actually PREFERS violence to sex (at least as far as entertainment goes). My point is that there are falsehoods in our society and in our culture that we should FIGHT, not roll over to them in fear that we may lose more.
Ultimately I do think this is a "fight or flight" discussion when you boil it down.

Also: What Backdoor said here basically wraps up my long blathery post in a few sentences... But my philosophy is "why say it with a word if you can write a book?"
Someone had mentioned concern about "why do folks want to see this?" I ask, "why be concerned". The issue of rape has been brought up here... and who is harmed in a rape??? In most cases (other than homosexual rape) the woman being raped is the one harmed right? Well, I need to point out, that I have a sneaking suspicion that a large number of women (has to be at a 2 digit percentage, if not closer to even 1/3 or more) have as one of their dark fantasies: To be raped.
This makes sense too if you think about it... I mean, how civilized are we anyway? We kill eachother, we rape the planet constantly, I want to see a woman drink a bucket of cum, he wants a woman to trample him with his feet, she wants to be gangbanged... and ultimately we're just fancy animals with big brains. My point is that, a big part of the sexuality of a woman is to be TAKEN... and how better to do it when they are completely helpless.... I'm not saying rape is okay. Of course not. I'm saying that FANTASIZING about it is okay. And seeing a video of it to feed that harmless fantasy should be okay.
Another example: I would bet my left nut that almost every person here has fantasized about murder. I know I can think of a few people I considered shooting lol. Thinking about it is not illegal. I think it's normal. Emotions, including RAGE are normal. I don't think there's a thing wrong with me thinking about it... as long as I don't do it.
This type of stuff must be legal too... Example, I think I saw a JM productions movie where a guy get's a girls severed head in a box, and they all have fun with the head in an oral way... it was pretty twisted, not really my thing. I think there's some movie where he screws a dead woman too....
I don't see why porn should be treated any different than mainstream media... can you explain that to me Hollywood or anyone else who sees the difference?
This is what I mean: It's not okay to murder 20 people ... but it IS okay to make a gory movie about it.
Some of these issues are exceptions and others in a gray area... Like kiddie porn is obviously not okay by really any standard of THIS culture, so it's an "exception" to my claim. Dressing a girl up to LOOK 14 or 16 or whatever and thus create the appearance of it, even though she's really 19 years old, I would call that a gray area. But I really don't see a problem with the list above (simulated rape, scat, degradation, etc.) I really don't. If the actors are consenting and people wanna see it... why should it be illegal?
By your standard above, it seems it should NOT be okay for Erik Everhard to step on the girls head while he's slamming his cock into her from behind.... and that guy over there is not allowed to spit on her face after she sucks his cock, or calling her a "whore" should not be allowed.... I mean, again... where do you start drawing these lines? how? I love to see degradation of women, absolutely love it. So what's wrong with that?
Again, this is why this is all relevant: The foundation of the adult business is that people should be allowed to see almost anything they want to see, as long as nobody is harmed. This is indeed an issue of Amendment 1 to our Federal Constitution and it is quite simple when you boil it down. The exceptions I gave above should really be the only ones: No minors, No drugged/drunk people (at least to the point of incompetence<tricky), and no mentally unfit folks (this one of course requires a court's opinion on that person's mental state). But maybe I'm oversimplifying it.. so if so, please correct me.

The question was, do you think it's good for the business, not who decides what is or isn't sick.
I am sure people have their own opinion on the subject.
But to answer your question, ultimately the community in which the product is shipped to decides what is or isn't sick.
I'm not sure what your last comment about the government has anything to do with it.

Well I think I agree with backdoor and I think his post is relevant, unless I'm missing something. This is why: You ask if it is good for the industry, that's the point. I'm pretty sure you are asking as you are concerned about the industry being harmed. Harmed by LEGISLATION and precedents and rulings and more rulings after that.... So to look at what IS truly legal and what is not (which most would agree is ultimately a Constitution issue) is quite relevant. For those of us that have FAITH in the Constitution, we simply assume "of course it's okay, and in the long run it cannot hurt the industry as the industry has EVERY RIGHT to exist and sprawl out into these territories of depravity and should USE that right to keep it". At least that's how I see it. Again, it's to me a discussion of "fight or flight". I think backdoorman and I both say "Fight". Where you are saying "Flight". And in both cases I see the arguments relevant to the topic, they are just being argued from different perspectives. Ours (if I may include myself in back's class) is one of "idealism", that is a simple view of "what is constitutional and what is not". Where yours is more about pragmatism perhaps. I don't know, but I do think these arguments (his and mine) are both addressing the issue, just in a more idealistic, simplistic, and (in my case) melodramatic way.

Seed, you missed your calling, you should have been an author or a lawyer.
P.S. I never said anything about peeing. I'm not into it, but that doesn't make me cringe as much as seeing a woman forced into an unwanted sex situation. Being punched and beaten, then fucked.
Do some women like that? Sure they do, I have only met one so far in my life, and I am old.
When I say "good" for the industry, I do mean public image. We are perceived as doing the work of the Devil now, does this help that image.
On the other hand, you're right, it's not really my job to care what they think.
I don't sell that type of movie, so I am good to go.
Thanks for your suggestion on this thread. I really feel like we are becoming close friends now.LOL

Sorry, but this is an interesting topic indeed. Another thought:
Someone mentioned how discussing censorship or whatever you wish to call it (sounds like you're saying they shouldn't do it just by industry ethics perhaps) is not addressing the real PROBLEM. I would agree. Nor will it solve the problem one would be trying to address.
Here's an example:
So in Japan they cannot show genitals right? Does that stop them? Did it slow down the porn business?? Not hardly, they simply put that mosaic on top of the genitals and do it anyway. So what did they accomplish?
1/ People still watch porn in Japan but are mildly annoyed (with the silly censoring).
2/ It created the NEED for bukkake porn and thanks to the government trying to slow down pornography in one country, we have a whole new genre of porn where women drink 100 loads of semen from a beaker or eat it cum on salad or simply have been jerk off on them until they are completely covered in sperm.
Now do you think the motivation had the expected and/or hoped outcome??? It actually made porn MORE obscene. So to me, there is no question that censorship is a bad thing. Bad for the industry, bad for society, and certainly does NOT accomplish what it sets out to.

lol. Well, maybe you didn't mention pee... but another making your argument would. This is also why I pointed out the danger here: In some states sodomy (including oral sex) IS illegal... imagine, not being allowed to lick your own wife's pussy???? Or not being allowed to fuck her up the ass, or let her deep throat you if that's what you and she wanted to do.... that's f'ed up IMO.
So again, it's a slippery slope deal... First you take away what is not a loss to you... next week another guy is going after what YOU like. Fight or flight. I say fight.
Now back to your issue: So you are saying public image. Well, frankly, I think you're okay. Instead of pumping money into Max Hardcore or something... you should invest in those "bratz" dolls that are making hookerism mainstream. It's that kind of crap that has 12 year olds dressing like porn stars.... Good god, I guarantee within a few years they'll be making 8" platform stilettos for the 12 year olds... No shit, you know it's happening as we speak. Mind you, I'm not talking about kiddie porn here, I'm talking about the fact that a whole generation is now being raised to think porn stars are "IT" and that porn is becoming the "fashion beacon" of tomorrow's young ladies....
I just think you're looking at it a bit bassackwards Holly: Porn has a bad image, PERIOD. Not because Max Hardcore peed in that girls mouth, slapped her, and fucked her face while holding her pigtails. It has a bad image because America is FRIGID. I think I'm right here.... it's really a problem rooted in christian activism. Does porn have a bad image in Europe or Japan???? Not like it does in America. In Europe I think most of your horse fucking films are made (maybe it's South America these days, who knows)... yet that didn't hurt "pornography" as a concept IMO. It's cultural. You are saying "let's reason with the psychos boys". Really, you are. The christians want it this way: Screw 3 times in your life and no more, because you have THREE children. Procreation. No gay sex, no blowjobs, no 3somes... sorry just populate the planet and worship our god. I hope this isn't violating TOS here or offending anyone... I'm just saying that Christian Fundamentalism is what gave and will continue to give "the industry a bad name"... so again, I say let the madness loose... you're screwed no matter what.
I do love that Jenna Jameson has weaseled porn into mainstream video stores though. You can buy Jenna next to star trek now... very cool, she rocks.
One last thing: Punched, beaten... okay that's "extreme"... but don't tell me that LOTS of girls don't like you to BITE them on the shoulder when you take them from behind, or pull their hair, or hold them roughly... THEY LOVE IT, I've rarely seen one that didn't... it's part of their premordial sexuality and further proof that darwin was right: We came from animals and aren't that different from any of them...
Friendship accepted :)

No, I think they are harmful.
I hate seeing girls in degrading acts, whether simulated or not. I don't care if it was consented. And I definitely do slow down watching, and consequently purchasing, porn after seeing girls in such situations. There is one producer in Europe I particularly hate, and the ways he was describing my favorite girl in porn, I stopped watching porn altogether for just short of a full month. I don't know if he realizes it or not, as he has surrounded himself by a small group of "yes men" on his own forum, to someone like me he gives a very strong impression that he cares far more about his own ego than the girls, and is more than willing to step on any girl in his path just to stroke that ego - including flat-out insulting girls who do not agree to work with him
Though there is wiggle room in the presentation of such porn, where I can often ignore such productions, but for those who make it a specific point to present themselves as pricks who push girls too far...
Remember here, the question is not whether these types of porn are good for individual liberties & freedoms, but whether they are good for business, you know, the balance sheet at the end of each day.

really, you think that? where do you get that idea? it's absolutely sickening that you think "one third of women" secretly desire to be raped. you should probably look up the definition of "rape" in a dictionary and perhaps get a lobotomy and castration while you're at it!! people like you are the exact reason there are debates like this about pornography.

I appreciate your emotion, but I think you miss the point. I don't mean they really want to be raped... but they want to experience elements of it... the danger, the helplessness. Perhaps it was worded poorly. But yes I think at least that many women secretly fantasize about it, but not that many women actually Want to actually be raped. Perhaps I could say "they want to be raped safely" lol. I guarantee you that rape ranks very high up on the role play list.
Also, you asked where I got this idea. I understand you think your opinion is all that matters. But I've had enough girlfriends to make it statistically relevant and have had many of them say this. I'm sorry you think it's personal, it's not, so I'll ignore your immature comments.

perhaps you're right i came off as immature (i feel that believing that amount of women want to be raped or even just experience some element of it is immature or at best misguided, but hey), but i didn't realize you didn't mean literally nor did i know you've had girlfriends who say they desire to be raped.
i have only met one girl my entire life who actually had a fantasy about being raped, and she was severely bipolar and had been horribly abused as a child. i don't think my opinion is all that matters, it's simply the way you stated yours that distressed me, especially thinking personally of someone i know who is incredibly disturbed, who actually does have this fantasy, which is based in mental illness and trauma. to imagine a guy thinking a large percentage of women desire to be raped, then meeting a very disturbed girl who in a psychotic state of mind does, just upsets me. because if she were properly medicated and hadn't been abused, i highly doubt she'd want to be raped and that's what i was thinking of.
your further explanation makes much more sense. i'll agree to disagree.

Thank you for reconsidering and reading my clarification. Maybe only sick girls are attracted to me... who knows lol. But I will say this: The most messed up girls I've dated (abused, abandoned, no father, etc.) were in the lot that did not have this fantasy... so I don't agree with your speculation on the correlation. And I apologize for saying what I said so bluntly without taking care in explaining my meaning... But consider yourself... do YOU like to be bit or have your hair pulled a little, or be roughly handled?? If so, this is an "element" that I speak of. And of the girls I've been with (in a relationship), it was at least 1/3 that mentioned this. And mind you, it was not a closed question (ie. "do you ever fantasize about being raped") no, it was open ended (ie. "what are your fantasies?")
I am certainly not saying that ANY girl who has ACTUALLY been raped enjoyed any elements or aspects of it... and it would be quite arrogant of me to even speculate on that as I wouldn't even pose questions to such a girl and I've only known a few. But the fantasy is quite logical IMO. I'm sure many men too have fantasized about being a caveman and just grabbing some girl and dragging her back to the cave and having their way with her... but I'll save that for another thread.

In perhaps a twisted way, I think it is GREAT for the industry.
The sooner the public perception turns toward the porn industry en masse, the sooner the industry will be forced to drop their draconian hiring and wage practices and begin to compensate performers as talent and not just as props. The shock porn we are now becoming more accustomed to seeing will be the catalyst to get this industry the attention it needs. As has been observed thus far, the industry as a whole has no social conscious and no motivation to change themselves from within. It will require outside intervention, likely unwanted attention like lawsuits and criminal charges, to change it.
It will be fucking painful as hell and likely squeeze out a crapload of gonzo producers who are just burning and churning the performers to make a fast buck but it will force the more intelligent smut purveyors to behave like real businesses with a dynamic P&L.

At this point, no I don't think they are good for the industry. Right now I think that all they do is fuel the fire under those who want to ban adult material outright. And sucker more people into the cause. I think people who normally wouldn't care see the worst the industry has to offer and assume that all adult material is like that.
It's too bad I have a collection of 70s and early 80s films that could never be made today and want to see others released that may never due to their content.

Of course people are asking for things that could spell trouble. It doesn't mean you have to give it to them.
To answer the question, I think it's bad for everyone. If it seems to cross some kind of a line to people who watch porn all the time, imagine how it would play in front of a jury.

There is Sky Blue which does make ful hardcore japanese movies, it is run by let's just say the underground in Japan.
It cannot be sold there, but it is shot there.
I am not advocating censorship, you can really shoot anything you want, even snuff films, but I am talking about the consequences for shooting such stuff.
That is more the point.
I'm sure in the privacy of your own home, if you have a camera and a willing body, you can do anything you want, releasing it is another matter.

Depends what you consider "good for the adult business".
1."Good" as in good for the image of the adult biz.
2 "Good" as in good in regards to revenues of the adult biz.
3."Good" as in good for consumers of the adult biz.

You know very well who decides. You obviously don't like that they do; I don't either, but they do. It's the people who for one reason or another, usually having to do with political expedience, arrogance and a conviction of moral superiority, are willing to bother calling attention to their disapproval by pressing for legal action.
Recent events prove conclusively that the extreme, misogynist variety of porn in question can get convictions and stiff sentences for their producers, so, in that sense it's not good at all for the business. On the other hand, the amount of it out there suggests that it is very lucrative for as long as the moral guardians take no notice of it.
BTW, why are you so hostile to the topic? The thread hasn't said anything in favor of government intervention or wiping anybody's ass. If you don't like the topic, don't pay any attention to it.
As for whether misogony, abuse, scat, etc. is sick or not, anyone who likes the stuff is probably going to rationalize it so that he doesn't have to think he might be deranged. Fact is, we all have sex fantasies that we might never dream of actually doing.
On the other hand, if you can't get off unless the girl is being abused or degraded, or there's some fetish involved then it's more than a fantasy, and it's probably something you should examine about yourself.

That'S my biggest beef with it. It's not so much the porn itself, but the motivation for it.
I am pretty open-minded. I studied criminology and considered a career in it. I definitely don't sugarcoat anything, but I have a vagina. Because of this, I have an inability to understand this kind of porn when it's viewed and produced by people who "get off" to it. I DO understand that some men, maybe a large population, get off to it and find it stimulating. I do understand the pleasure someone can derive from it. But I do question those who claim they can enjoy it within certain spheres.
If you enjoy this kind of porn, you definitely have certain hangups. Myself included. I have rocked out to some really rough porn. I include myself to a degree.
My belief is that everything, the universe, its people, have a potential for extreme bliss, peaceful equilibrium. So my big question is, why is this sort of porn necessary? What has happened to create an imbalance in people that they need this sort of stimulation?
Ted Bundy, for instance. He was raised in a loving home, had positive relations with women, even fathered a daughter he adored, yet he had a compulsion to torture and murder women. Michael Ross, a serial killer executed only a few years ago, had the clarity of mind to condemn his actions and actively pursued his own death penalty.
What is it in some human beings that motivates this sort of behavior?
I continue to ask myself this question, and I hope to gain some illumination on the subject. The answer seems to be frustratingly elusive and mysterious.
Some might find it ridiculous I compare this kind of porn to serial murder. I say they are bleeding idiots. Do you think that any murderer, such as Jack Trawick, didn't harbor the kinds of kinks and kicks that motivates this kind of porn? Please. It's all about waking up and acknowledging the symptoms.

Tough questions there Sunshowers... I guess all individuals rationalize what they are not willing to NOT do. I've examined my own fetishes a bit and cannot say I understand them at all... I do believe they came about through a mix of inborn nature and environmental stimuli... but beyond that, I have no freaking clue. For example: I have a huge foot fetish now... but didn't get it (at all) until I was about 30. I do remember at 16 taking note of shoes and if they were sexy or not... but it was only because I lived in New York for a few months with my sister and she told me to look down and not make eye contact lol. But at 29 or 30 I got a foot fetish... I have psychoanalyzed myself and believe it may be due to the fact that I dated a pretty awful woman for a long time, who had pretty ugly feet and it ended around age 29... So I think I made a connection between good character and good feet... quite silly, but regardless of HOW, I now have that fetish and couldn't shake it if I wanted to.
Your statements about serial killers made me think of that scene in the movie Seven where Brad Pitt asks Keven Spacey (the killer): "So when you're dancing around smearing your own shit on yourself and laughing... do you ever look in the mirror and say 'wow, I'm really fucking crazy!'?" Or something like that... I question this. Perhaps just like I justify enjoying seeing a woman gag on cum.... a serial killer too can justify chopping a woman into 50 pieces. All I know is, it's hard to imagine how the mind of another works.
I don't think fetishes are symptoms of underlying problems, but I could be wrong. As long as everyone is willing, I don't see any harm in whatever people do, with very few exceptions.
None of this has anything to do with the topic, but I wanted to reply as your post was interesting.
Back to the topic: I reiterate that I don't think we should base how we use Amendment 1 on what is acceptable to the fundamentalist christians and other nosey cannot mind their own business types. Why cater to arrogance? Why live in fear? I understand Hollywood's concerns but think principles (like that of freedom) should rank higher than what is safest for the industry.

There are answers that nobody has yet, and the answer to that question is one of them.
You already know that there are always circumstances in the lives of the sexually violent that, in hindsight, the psychologists point to as contributing factors to their criminal perversions. But millions of people have abusive parents or other trauma in childhood that do not become rapists, pedophiles, or serial killers. The fact is, the experts are still just guessing.
The thing that's certain is that real sexual perversions -- not just sexual fantasy, but the overpowering need -- to hurt, humiliate, maim, or kill a girl to obtain sexual gratification is beyoind an individual's power to control. He does it because he has to. He may rationalize his sexual compulsion, pretend to himself that it's the fault of his victims, even embrace it, as many pedophiles do, as a mark of his superiority. But he can't stop it, and neither can the experts.
So the news is full of child molestors let out of prison who continue to molest children, rapists who serve their sentences, get out of jail, and keep right on raping, and so forth.
No one has the cure for these people, and the worst crime is that our legal system behaves as if they did.

Well if Hollywood can depict murder in it's grisly form why not let porn depict these sick acts?
I don't actually agree with that but if we're going to start going over the whole censorship thing that question should be posed. I'm getting a bit tired about hearing about freedom of speech in the media. It seems that with all the good things it brings in principle it also brings with it the freedom of stupidity and freedom to offend as people please. The people who fought for this freedom didn't want it to be misused, abused and taken advantage of like it seems to be a lot these days.

Probably the same thing that motivates people to go watch boxing and "extreme fighting" and obviously enjoy watching people inflict pain upon one another. Ordinary boxing kind of has a cloak of sportsmanship but the more extreme stuff is obviously voyeuristic sadism. The only thing missing is the audience whipping out their equipment and jerking off to it.
Why do you think most sports are more violent and dangerous than they really need to be? Why do you think the simulated violence in mainstream movies gets more and more intense all the time?
This darkness is a normal part of the human psyche as near as I can tell. I think it's as simple as the desire to wallow in depravity of all sorts. That is, after all, one of the most basic aspects of humanity. To slow down to see the carnage at a car crash. A bit of a twisted thrill...even if it is horrifying and you'd never admit it to anyone. People will watch anything they're allowed to watch. Some of them will watch it tonight and post about how disgusted they were with it on ADT an hour later. After they clean up the cum.

If we are going to draw comparisons between mainstream (Hollywood) movies and hac movies, some clarification is in order. Go back to the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's. Actors/actresses were smoking endlessly, and the clubs they visited were smoking dens. Now no more. Actors frequently slapped women, and vice versa, and were downright nasty towards each other. You don't see that kind of slapping anymore, unless it is to show that the male has a violent personality and wants to do further harm to the woman.
When a man slapped a woman in an old Hollywood movie, it was because she was being unfaithful, trampish, hysterical, was being devious or did something offensive. The women took it and did not call the police and filed a complaint for battery.
In a hc movie, when a actor chokes a woman, slaps her face and other parts of her body, repeatedly throat fuck her, pulls her hair, drags her to the bathroom and dunks her head in the toilet bowl and flushes it, what conclusion can you come to? It is really all fake, are they really play acting, the girl is enjoying it, she was well paid? It still remains offensive and disgusting, and the scene merely exists to push the enveloppe, to up the ante, and/or perhaps reflects what the director or actor really personally feels about women.
You think the feds went after Max Hardcore because they did not like his cowboy hat, safari outfit, or yellow couch? Sooner of later you will have to face what society deems something sexually enjoyale or outright disgusting. Until somebody really is gonna get physically hurt, and will file a complaint against a director or actor who did something that she did not consent to, then these acts will continue to be portrayed in some movies made by some people who believe it is all "fair game", and all in the name of "free speech".

if it was good for business it would sell. I think a bit of censorship is good. certain people like youths or sexual deviants should not be allowed to watch certain things. But if it keeps a person from acting out the fantasy its a benifit but seriously could it make someone want it more?
What exactly is our moral obligation to the public? We make our living offthe deep dark secerts that creep into peoples heads so where should we draw a line? should there even be a line? Lets see some director out there produce a play that the Marquis De La Sade wrote. In France he's condidered a revolutionary writter.
I dont know about that myself I personally think he was having a temper tantrum with the church.
Maybe people need to test the limits. I dont think there is a clear answer to any of it really. Wether your ideals or whatever stops you from watching or partaking of such perversions is ultimately on you. As an industry I think we need to keep in mind that women are a large part of our lives and profit and we should pay the respect they definately deserve. Depending on who you talk to people that watch these types of movies typically have mental issues and these movies only feed thier inability to cope and may force them to act thier perversions out. I for one dont think I could sell something so degrading to women. I have a wife and daughter and to allow a possibility of it effecting them in a harmful way would definately make me reconsider.
I think maybe if there is a possibility that a woman could suffer for this then maybe we should draw this line.If the rape/scat or whatever portrays this for what it is... like the sick nastiness of a twisted mind then allow it. But you cant make any money off that now can you.
So i guess what im saying is no. If you glamourize rape/scat and whatnot you only encourage the type of behaviour and by doing so makes all of us who allow it or are involved in selling/producing such movies a part of the crime.
Women should be portrayed for what they are. A gift to us. not some vile piece of meat.

On what planet does scat belong even remotely in the same category as rape? Scat may be seen as vile and disgusting by most but it is generally a mutually consensual act.
The only reason scat even belongs in this thread is that some of the same people who get upset over even the appearance of simulated violence also go apeshit over things like piss and scat even though the latter two things are almost always completely consensual.

just to be clear, I have no problem with pissing, I am still relatively young, just kidding, and even scat, I would never watch someone shitting on someone else, because frankly, to me, it is pretty disgusting.
But little know fact is that Danny Thomas was a big scat man, legend is he loved it. he had a famous glass table he would supposedly crawl under.
I always thought a good title would be, "Make Room for Doody". Scatman Crothers wasn't name Scatman because he could sing.
I get freaked out when someone sharts.

I think this difference (jerking off to it) is pretty important, and perhaps the crux of the issue, in terms of what SunShowers is saying. The sexual element seems to be what dictates gendered displays of sadistic violence. Another big difference is that masculine performances of these forms of violence are shown on mainstream TV, and celebrated, while women involved in these displays are consigned to marginalized forms of media and disregarded as sluts and whores.

Actually, I pointed that out because I don't think there's much of a difference between mental masturbation and actual physical masturbation but because appearances are everything, things like fighting matches, car crashes, war pictures and morbidly detailed descriptions of crime stories provide enough cover that people who are shy about it can satisfy that particular part of their mind without exposing themselves to much critical scrutiny.
When seen in this light, people "get off on" all kinds of sick shit on some level. People who are just honest about it get all the flack.

Censorship doesn't really work in a lot of cases. There are lots of forums in which people trade rape scenes from non-porn movies and jerk off to them. Movie makers are advised not to display rape and murder in a positive light but that makes it appealing to some.

how can you compare the UFC to a rape? the pain fighters inflict on eachother is agreed upon by both parties and they train for years in the art of fighting. rape wether or not its real or fake is a stronger person inflicting thier will upon a weaker creature. thatsa a cowardice act at the very least. fuck if you get your jollies on crap like that why not just allow child porn. i mean if watching forced sex on a weaker person is your thing then surely child porn must really rev up your jollies.
the UFC violence is to semi-equal people agreeing to see who is stronger or better at thier art of fighting.i cant believe that a sport and rape could even vaguely be compared.

If you'd have actually read the posts, you'd get the point I was trying to make. I'm not going to type it f00 different ways so you can just go back and read it a little slower and put more thought into it before you jump to conclusions.
Ask yourself this. Why does it matter who can beat the shit out of who? And also, what does a person in the audience get out of watching one of the two consensually beaten to the point to where he either can't get up or can't continue?

I get what you're saying - I agree. And for all we know, someone is jerking off to boxing. But regardless, you're right - it's all part of a continuum of violence for entertainment.

I totally agree, who knows maybe they're afraid to I mean they have just been choked and treated pretty violently so it's a possibility. Going back to those films of the '30s and '40s though they did contain some underlying messages most commonly that 'crime doesn't pay' or 'every dog has it's day' sort of thing.
I know this will sound really contrived but I mean hell even if some fake rape scene had a bunch of police officers come in and shoot up the offenders at the end it might atleast add some sort of morality to it all, I know i know fairytale ending not real blah blah but gees does everything need to be real, this is fantasy anyway. Porn is meant to have an erotic element to it, the setup and premise is all part of that. I'm sorry but two guys breaking into a house with balaclavas on, pointing a gun at some womans head, forcing her do things and then leaving, crying and screaming in between is just not your standard idea of erotic porn. I won't even go into scat. But is with extreme i get that. Perhaps I just ain't into the extreme porn genre and probably never will be.
I don't know, I think this is a pretty contentious issue.

Yes, he was. Scat refers to improvisation that is the soul of Jazz. Scat singing was 'invented' by Louis Armstrong when he forgot the lyrics to what he was singing (or so the legend goes} and was perfected by the absolutely perfect Ella Fitzgerald.
Scat as it refers to shit comes from 'satalogical' meaning 'referring to excrement'. The two may be related, but only dimly, and scat singing, to the Jazz fan, could not be farther from shit. It is pure joy.

The audience for MMA is tremendous, so your answer to who cares is evident by the shear number of people who buy pay per view.
The fighters have a huge following.
I watched this weekend Kimbo Slice in a fight that was really good, he trained and worked at his craft to win that fight.
It was very entertaining.
Both those fighters work very hard for the chance to get in the octagon.
They get paid very well for getting the shit beat out of each other.
Same with boxing.
Simulated rape is dominance over a person not consenting to the act of sex.
Not my cup of tea.
