OK. I'm getting irritated. There's a setting somewhere in Vista that tells it to hide desktop icons if you haven't used them for a while. Thing is, I have quite a few things I rarely use. But I still like the icon to be there when I do want to use it. Unfortunately, I rarely notice when Vista disappears an icon and then, when I need a program, I sometimes forget that I even have it.
Does anyone know where this setting is so I can turn the damn thing off once and for all?

I don't have Vista but in XP, right-click on 'Start' and click on Properties. Sorry if that doesn't help but I'm on Macs now.

That's not it howie. From what I've been reading, the Desktop Cleanup Wizard has been removed from Vista. So, I don't know what's causing RandomPrecision's icons to disappear.

I don't have Vista so I can't try it. But check this MS link and see if it answers your question.

I already have "Show desktop icons" selected. And it does show them........for a while. And then, one day, I notice something's just........gone.
