Someone I work with called to ask me a computer question. He is from Cuba and one of his friends back home wants him to ship tome computer parts to Cuba because they are cheaper here.
The parts list was in Spanish and we did the best we could with it but I am totally confused.
He is looking for a motherboard that supports "micro memory".
I sent the guy a really broken Spanish email asking for some clarification but till then I am wondering if anyone here (especially those of you who might live in a Spanish speaking location) has any insight as to what it means?

Could it be a bad translation of a unit of measurement? A gigabyte of memory, for instance? It's very difficult to say. I've seen posts made by people who don't speak very good English and some of the things they say are just a total mystery even though all the words are English.

Maybe he's referring to a type of RAM? DDR,SDRAM,DDR2,??
That's the only type of "memory" I can think of, where you might need a compatible motherboard to work with a particular RAM type. Just a thought.
Or maybe he's referring to onboard USB? Some of the USB flash memory sticks use "micro" in their name.

Mystery solved.
The guy meant SD cards. Chapp was right.
What I didn't know is that Cubans apparently aren't up on the cutting edge technology of a USB based card reader and assumed it was all motherboard based because he wanted to make a computer that was similar to his current one which is seven years old and has some kind of built in card reader.

Anyway. Isn't is strange that the only words of a foreign language many of us bother to learn are the ones that might get our asses kicked if we say them? You'd think most people would wanna learn "Hey, man. I'm sorry! I'll buy you a keg. How's that?"

It means "I like your taco, girl".
I think latin culture (Spain at least) frowns upon profanity use more than english-speakers.
I went to Spain once with "QUE PASA, PUTO?" emblazoned in huge letters on my shirt.
It means "What's happening, (male) bitch?". The stares I got from people made me feel uneasy. Especially from old people.
It's no surprise that us men learn all the bad words first, while girls seem to learn how to say "I love you" and "you're beautiful" and all that shite first.

I tend to only pick up foreign phrases that make me laugh. I can't remember any of the nice ones just the fight starters.
I think the first spanish phrase I memorized was translated from "I habitually rumble in the Bronx" (I am not even going attempt to spell that in Spanish)
