A good [ invalid url ] says more than thousand words. And that's the kind of informative front-cover pictures porn DVD's should have.
If you click on the link I've provided above. Then you won't see the word 'anal' written anywhere on that front-cover picture. But the idea of 'anal' immediately boggles your mind and arouses your cock, when you see the unmistakeable anal-lust from one of the guys towards the seemingly willing lady.
Instead of informing you that there is anal sex in this film. This picture makes you want to see anal sex on the front-cover lady in a very provocative way.
Most porn front-covers show off the lady's body in some way. But no men appear with the ladies in poses that suggest the kind of sex they will likely have. And quite often you get the impression that the film is either a solo-masturbation or a lesbian only due to the absence of men. Only when you look on the back cover. Then you realize that the front-cover gave you the wrong impression.
I think all heterosexual film covers should be a variation of the example I gave. The men should be there just like they are in the films. But of course, the main focus of the front-cover should be on the lady and not on the men. Just as it is in the example I gave.
A man's hand burried deep between the lady's ass-cheeks is something I would love to see on the front cover of every anal film. A man's hand covering up the lady's pussy I would love to see on the front cover of every vaginal only film.
DP films should show two male hands from two different men: one hand on her pussy and the other hand burried in between her ass-cheeks. And tit-movies should show a man's hand doing something interesting, suggestive, and arousing with the lady's tit.

I prefer fun covers that make me interested in the title like the ones below:

these are the words i am thinking of:
grainy.
shit aesthetics.
skinny white guys.
too many shit photoshop effects, not enough actual information about the movie.
ugly expressions.
what the fuck is 'regeional' coding?
too much white saturation.
i'm with flash. i'd rather my money go into the pocket of a good graphic designer, than some froot loop with poor grammar and pathetic photoshop skills.

I don't know how you could read "anal" from that front cover. I don't really care about seeing guys on the front cover because I know they'll be in the movie (unless it's solo or lesbian).
The best covers for me are the ones where as all the girls in the movie are on the cover posed showing off their best assets. All the girls in the movie should have their names on the cover. If the cover is good enough to make me pick it up and turn it around then I'd like to see each girl in their scene in various shots and stages of sex.
My biggest complaint about covers and back covers is having to try and figure out who's in the movie because they aren't named and at least one good clear shot of all the girls in the movie. I've passed over many of my fav girls because I had no idea they were in the movie.

I'd buy that dvd based on the cover alone.

I agree with you that the cover should focus on the women and show off their best assets. And the example I gave above does exactly that. In fact, the guy's hand buried deep between the lady's ample ass-cheeks attracts the viewer's attention to her gorgeous ass and suggest anal sex. The way it looks, this guy may well be fingering the lady's asshole in preparaton for anal sex on her. And even though you can't see her asshole. This guy's hand between her ass-cheeks calls your attention to her asshole and makes you imagine it.
If this lady was just standing there alone without any guy pawing her ass. Then the picture would be a lot more soft-core and a lot less suggestive of any sex.
A guy pawing the lady's pussy and/or asshole naturally calls the viewer's attention towards her sex-holes. Which is what every man needs to think of, just before he starts penetrating his lady. Perhaps a lady standing alone can expose her sex-holes and call your attention to them. But only a man standing there with her and pawing her asshole can suggest to the viewer penetrative heterosexual sex.
Heterosexual sex cannot happen without a man. And a nude lady standing there alone on the cover looks nice. But such a cover doesn't immediately suggest heterosexual sex. And that's why I think it's misleading.
When the film is completely and totally heterorsexual. Then the front cover should portray heterosexuality in order to be truly representative of the film.

Two of the links were broken. I agree they are both great covers.

Dan I like the cover also. Its different, and everything else is all looking the same these days. I went to visit an adult video store near me, and the gonzo DVDs on the racks just blend together. Nothing sticks out, absolutely nothing. I also probably like it more because my old friend Afrodite is on the cover! I've known and worked with her for many years. She looks good whatever the design. She has what I call the Gina Gershon factor. That alluring bad ass girl look that you either like or you don't. I love that look personally. Its different. That's the second time I said different.... damn I should be ashamed of myself....
