Is it just me, or is there a lack of bbw's (for lack of a better term) in feminist porn? From what I noticed, most of the women are thin to average body-types, with a small percentage being kind of on the thick side, yet not major bbw's. For example, though Karla Lane experienced some success in mainstream porn, I rarely notice similar body-types in feminist porn. An exception is a French movie I wrote about on here where a BBW played a polyamous sociology graduate student. As mentioned on another thread Will started about BBW's, they're often fetished or treated like spectacles and sometimes mocked in mainstream porn. Feminist porn doesn't do this to women, though does that mean BBWs should be excluded. Feminist porn can be a space for more body inclusivity and presenting various body-types as beautiful including BBWs. Feminist porn may present more of a socially conscious angle, though is excluding BBWs any better than fetishing or mocking them or treating them like circus shows.
PinkLabel.tv seems to be more inclusive of BBWs than Lust Cinema. In a search of BBW on the Pink Label searchbox, multiple videos with April Flores come up. Not the case with Lust Cinema. Not slamming Lust Cinema and they have some videos with great storylines and artistry and sex acts not restricted to the conventional porn sequence. They also have some educational type videos. PinkLabel just features much more variety overall. One of the very few BBW videos I could on Lust Cinema is titled "Jessica Drake's Guide to Wicked Sex: Plus Size." It's produced by Wicked Pictures, not exactly a company known for including BBWs- though they produce some good videos that can fit into the feminist genre (for example "Love, Lust, and Longing"). While I don't think Jessica Drake is a BBW by any stretch of the imagination, the video included a plus-sized co-host (Kelly Shibari). It's part of an educational series she does on "Wicked Sex." Also, BBW's don't have to be just a separate category and can be included in videos with people of other body-types, like the French video I mentioned.
There used to be BBWs included on PinkLabel. They were in videos with everyone else, not as a select fetish, IIRC. Also in their long running Crash Pad series too.

^^ Lust Cinema doesn't have that many movies or scenes with plus-size/curvy women but XConfessions has a nice selection of scenes with "BBWs". Some are even directed by them like with director and performer Poppy Cox. Most of the stars are from Europe, so you most likely won't know of them but here's a list of some of the plus-size performers that have scenes on the site
Miss Estigia Merce Palau Sulema Vasquez Estella Bathory Kali Sudhra Heidi Priestess ( new scenes of her coming next week) Jaspe Antares Karla Lane Scorpio Season
I could be missing a couple of people but that's the ones I have seen. I also check-out Four Chambers they have alot of scenes with plus size perfomers
Yes, I notice XConfessions is a separate website from the main Lust Cinema site with the rest of the movies- even though XConfessions is created by Lust Cinema. Thanks for the link to Scorpio season. Really neat concept about performing in the rain.
Also noticed on XConfessions, there's a disclaimer at the beginning of videos saying that condoms are used based on the performers' preferences. It's notworthy that they advertise the use of condoms and highlight this, which indicates they're appealing to a different fan base then much of porn. There have been discussions about condoms on this site (AdultDVD Talk) and multiple people said they have no interest in watching condoms in porn or that they unsubscribed from this sites the sites started using condoms in their videos.
So, I read this comments on Lust Cinema in connection with a video titled "A Spanking Hike with My Apple Pie": "What I really love about the ending is that there is a facial / cum eating finish in a women friendly porn. As this practice is mostly associated with abusive or degrading porn, I have the impression that it is very often actively avoided in women friendly movies, although it has a lot of potential to be fun for all persons present and that women can enjoy it too."
Though I'm not saying cum eating or facials is intrinsically degrading or non-degrading, my question is this: If cum eating or facials are associated with abusive or degrading porn, how do they become less degrading in women friendly movies? Or, do people just wish to think they're less degrading because they like to think they're supporting women. In other words, do the same acts become less degrading or abusive if they're in "women friendly movies" or is there more to it?
I would think it would have to do with the kinks of the female actress. If she enjoys and wants a facial, it isn't degrading. I always associate consent and enjoyment with feminist porn.
Right, though the only person who knows for sure if she enjoys it is her. In mainstream porn, women are also expected to act like they enjoy it whether they do or don't because of the customer's fantasy. Like, if a woman says "Ew, I hate the taste of cum," that would defeat the purpose of cum eating in porn. That said, I think the cum shot no matter where he cums on her or if it involves cum eating is a relief for many female performers because it shows they succeeded at their work; and it can be very draining to keep trying to get a guy to cum when he never does or takes forever. Flash wrote: I would think it would have to do with the kinks of the female actress. If she enjoys and wants a facial, it isn't degrading. I always associate consent and enjoyment with feminist porn. [/quote/]
My first impression growing up was to see facials as man submitting to woman. Man being used to make a woman look prettier. I later started to see the perspective the average person has, and I started to appreciate woman being used and dominated. That said, I still see bukkake as men submitting to women (which is what it is) but again from a male perspective they insert elements that convey the dominance of man.
I maintain that facials are submissive on part of men. The act is an act of submission but is viewed differently, mostly because of conditioning men have. I would think of female being submissive if it was pee and that's a category I avoid.
That said, where men are appreciating women for taking facial it is a sure sign they are enjoying it as a man dominating woman activity, they sugar coat it but they like the usual perspective.
Forgot to include the fact that it is also conditioning on part of women to see it as degrading act. And as some said, they may enjoy that aspect. An actress can actually say she feels empowered while secretly enjoying the degrading aspect of it. From a feminist perspective, being dominant or submissive is a preference. I can not say I am being feminist because I like women dominating because again I am not taking into account whether they like being dominating themselves.
Basically, it is the culture a person is born in that makes them develop their views and that is a seperate can of worms. The way both men and women see semen and penis is backwards and regressive.
Good point, Blast, that what's considered degrading is a social construct shaped by culture and society. This can explain why the same act perceived as degrading in mainstream porn can be perceived as empowering in feminist or "women centereed" porn. It can have to do with the labeling- like calling it feminist or women-centered can cause it to be perceived as empowering.

I don't think that person is saying facials become less degrading when in feminist porn. They are saying maybe producers of feminist porn usually avoid that act because it is generally perceived as degrading, even though some women like it. (I don't know how widespread a love of facials is lol)
^ Of course because they're so mainsteam in porn, probably the most common type of pop shot. Then again, some people find mainstream porn sexist and degrading to women.
Apologies for potentially shoehorning something here that may or may not be relevant -- lesbian porn. This whole proceeding discussion reminds me of something I read a while ago online. I don't remember where I read it -- and searching for it just now, I can't find it again -- so you'll just have to trust my probably rusty memory. It was an article exploring why so many women like to watch lesbian porn (it's consistently the most watched category of porn by women on pornhub). One of the people who commented in that article was, if memory serves, the adult performer Siri. She said something to the effect that one of the advantages of lesbian porn is that it's "de-politicized" porn. What she means is that in hetero porn, due to a lot of historical/social/cultural baggage, many women can't help but analyze it in "political" terms (such as all the above discussion about this or that act being degrading or not). Porn with two women, on the other hand, just doesn't have that baggage, and even straight women can just better relax and enjoy the action, so to speak.

I feel the same way about facials, it's very lower tier on a degrading or dominant level. It's just bodily fluid, I've seen women squirt on men and been squirted on. It's not someone doing a golden shower on someone, that's more degrading and I'm starting to see that more in porn and onlyfans content. I thought one main reason for Facials and pop shots is for birth control because nobody uses condoms in porn
If it watery and makes a girl's chin moist then maybe. When I see thick ropes (now rare) on a woman's face I see it as man giving like piece of his soul to her. Real thick sticky white cum is like a heartfelt compliment that I just can not see as woman being degraded. I don't think women understand what cumming for men feels like. Squirting is not proper equivalent to semen ejaculation. Think of why nofap is big deal for men but not for women.
Could be birth control or just so the viewer can see the guy ejaculate which they cannot in cream pie scenes. With it being on her face gives it an extra effect, especially if her mouth is open and he sqirts right into it or she sucks the rest of the cum off him. Facials also work for camera purposes, where the viewer can easily see the cum on her face. If the guy cums on the floor or on grass or dirt, that can still be birth control but I don't think the same effect for many fans as if he cums right on her face.
Though this may be delving too much into analyzing body language, the kneeling position women are often in during the pop shot can be perceived as submissive. Not just because of the cum, also because of her lower elevation and kneeling has been socially constructed as a submissive position. However, I didn't really think about that when doing videos. The pop shot was exciting because it shows that we succeeded and can now relax. Sure beats getting exhaused and worn out trying to get a guy to cum who never does and then the woman may blame herself.
Is a girl showing feet being dominant or submissive. I have seen girls showing feet to show they are completely submissive Teen girls like to show feet as well as women in senior years and everyone has their own idea of what they are telling
^ It can have different meanings depending on the context. Or, it can just be for the foot fetish viewers. This reminds me of a cam show with a viewer who got off on how degrading it was for Asian women in nail salons to kneel down and do people's feet and tried to get me to say it was degrading. Only had that happen once in a cam show.
If you're licking somebody's feet or cleaning their feet with your mouth or something else, that's interpreted as a submissive role. If somebody is doing this for you, that's interpreted as a dominant role. If I get on cam and the bottom of my feet are dirty, I play into it and ask if there are any submissives who wish to clean them off. I've had some takers lol.
I think feminism is about giving women choice whether they want to be submissive or dominant. So we can approach it in two ways, one where women communicate clearly what they like : that may not be a viewer centric movie. And when it aligns with what is popularly liked, it will be just rewarding existing viewing habits.
Second, where we improve the general working conditions in a way that we can evaluate clearly in a way that can not be interpreted as 'controlling'. That may again result in women being paid more overall for doing same work.
It seems much of what's considered feminist porn is like Harlequin romance novel porn. Yet, feminism is very much about advocacy and sociopolitical issues, though it seems like very little porn is. Not surprising considering that when many people watch porn, the last thing they probably wish to do is think about issues affecting society. In fact, they may watch porn to get into a fantasy world and get their mind off of that. The few sociopolitical themed porn movies I know of are:
-"Revelations" by Candida Royalle and "A Road to Conquer" by Lust Cinema. Both are centered around the them of sexual freedom vs. sexual repression in society. They're set in what seem to be futuristic societies where sex is only allowed for procreation and sexual pleasure is not allowed. "A Road to Conquer" is more contemporary with a more ethnically diverse cast.
-"Perspectives" by Bree Mills. This series focuses on domestic violence.
-"Teen Lesbian Story" by Bree Mills. I haven't seen the whole movie, though this is also a series that from my understanding re-enacts Bree's experiences of coming out as a lesbian in the 1990's.
-"Fragments" by Madison Young. The first eposide focused on abortion, though this topic doesn't come up after that.
With all the porn out there, these are the only sociopolitical themed porn films I can think of. Can anybody add to this list?
Back to Harlequin romance style porn: If anything woman or couple friendly can be classified as feminist porn, that means much of the mainstream content from companies such as Wicked and Adam and Eve is. In this sense, feminist porn wouldn't be an alternative genre but more just like softer core porn. Come to think of it, much of Erika Lust's (one of the main producers in feminist porn) materials are like mainstream companies such as Wicked in terms of plot, acting, sex acts, artistry, and overall vibes. One of the main differences is that Lust Cinema has included a man on man scene in at least one of their moves ("The Wedding") and I don't know if Wicked has ever done this. Another difference is Erika created XConfessions, where people write their sexual fantasies, submit them online, and then story lines are created to act them out if selected.
I would hope Tessa agrees with me: I don't see why it should necessarily be considered a political statement, if one happens to believe women are inherently beautiful and that women should be respected as a matter of principle. If I watch and enjoy a film that has two or more people going at it, and at no time are any of the women in the film degraded, I don't see why that should enroll me in some political movement. I'm in enough political movements as it is, thank you very much. Shouldn't we respect and love women by default? Shouldn't we only withdraw those feelings towards one woman at a time, when that woman gives us clear reason to?
Perhaps, Tessa, what you enjoyed about porn that classified itself as "feminist," and perhaps even more so as a person who has experienced and overcome degrading behavior on the set yourself, is a situation where the performers treated each other as human beings, or at least were faced with human situations that didn't involve the characters being made to feel lesser than who they were. Sure, there's also the part about "climax" not being treated as "the moment when the guy gets off." I may be among a small group of men, but that's never been the part with which I identified. I love watching women. I don't feel I should have to subject myself to watching women being degraded or disrespected simply because I'm staring at their asses. And when it comes time for the man to come, making the viewers bow down, withdraw their attentions, and kowtow to the male lead, is just a bad habit. A scene should end when the performers are all spent. Maybe lesbian porn practices that ethic to a greater extent.
All that having been said... I also don't see why porn produced with respect and even worship in mind, should be staged and shot like some super-soft Cinemax after-hours fantasy. What you're helping me to realize, Tessa, is that the thing that turns me off about the double-anal-creampie genre is not the double, the anal, or the creampie part. It's the degradation part. Sure, you can have "rough sex," and certainly one partner may be more dominant and the other submissive. Being submissive (on the receiving end) is not the same as being degraded, which is Step One in the process of sexual assault. I discovered to my own absolute astonishment that I can really get into a five-guy-creampie scene, when the guys collectively adore the woman and treat her as a precious jewel and a deserving princess. It was the whole "ganging up" aspect that turned me off of that situation. Not just when it stops just short of rape, but when it starts heading in the direction of rape - that's when I'm out.
Absolutely, producers should take into account a style of production that enables women and men to be part of the viewing audience. Which doesn't mean all porn should be gender-neutral towards its audience; I'm in it for the women, and I know plenty of viewers who are in it for the men. But if it sets a precedent for situations that happen to omit the degradation and shaming part, then I'm in.
Thanks for the reply, Rick. It's not so much about pushing causes onto people. More about delving into deeper issues that gets my attention. Just seems to be a blurring of the lines between what's feminist porn and what's just softcore romantic porn. Another short film in the sociopolitical genre is "Refugees Welcome Here" posted on Xconfessions. It's about a same-sex relationship between a German man and Syrian refugee.
Somebody put a bi scene mmf in a mainstream couples title I think Tricia Devereaux was the actress in the scene, and I remember people were ripped about it. I found it odd, since back in the 70s/early 80s some films would have gay material in them and apparently people didn't lose their shit.
^Haven't heard of that scene, though I find it interesting when male performers do double anal or double vag yet refuse to do gay porn. However, it's their body and their decision.
On another topic, I've been thinking about how performers who gained reputations for doing "degrading" porn can transition into the feminist or ethical porn. Is there a "whorearchy" where performers who've been involved in more degrading porn are blackballed from feminist or ethical porn even if it's not explicitly stated. (I realize "degrading" is a subjective term and what's considered degrading by some might not be by all.) Is there a tendency to respect more the performers who participicate in the feminist or ethical porn and judge more negatively the performers who do degrading porn? performers can't make anybody give them work so some may be be interested in working for the ethical or feminist porn companies, and such companies might not give them work.
Respectfully, Tessa, I would disagree that "degrading" is entirely subjective. It presumes that the bar is variable among people, and that it all depends on the situation. I would argue that it's a binary thing: If an action is intended to bring someone else down, that's degrading.
What folks do choose is whether they feel hurt by that. We can look at all media during the 1960s and '70s, not just erotica or porn, and see countless examples depicting women being degraded. Often accompanied by a laugh-track. People built up a resistance to it, stopped being sensitive to it happening. That brought a near-general acceptance of it taking place, with unstated understandings that being degraded, or a little bit of assault, or being flat-out dehumanizing, as just a part of being an actress or being married or living in America. "Comes with the territory," judges would declare from the bench.
Then when it became in-vogue to declare being degrading, for some astonishing reason, wrong, folks pointed their fingers at porn. "Porn degrades women; let's outlaw porn." (Translation: Some porn productions are so blatant that they make the act of degrading women look bad. And since we in the "mainstream" - all bow down, please - assert that's not only our habit but our trademark, let's condemn porn and burn it at the stake, and in so doing, get rid of our competition. Kill two birds.) Look at how recently the "Comes with the Territory" defense was used to justify the actions of men like Harvey Weinstein. Or certain NBC stars and executives whose defense for having door-locking remote controls under their desks was, "But we all have one and no one's complained."
The talk-show argument against all porn is that it desensitizes people into thinking degrading women is acceptable - that there's a bar for judgment for each of us, and we are free to move it as we please because America is a free country. I think maybe we know it isn't the media, be it porn or politics or pseudo-religion, that desensitized people into thinking anything at all. Some people are looking for an excuse to believe what they want to believe, to say someone else moved their bar for them and that's fine. When the personification of this excuse walks onto the stage, his long, red, dime-store necktie flopping below his knees like a neon loincloth, and demonstrates how to be degrading to people in front of everyone, they can all say, "See, he did it and got away with it, why can't I?" They're looking for any justification they can find for their bad actions. Along comes one porn scene, one R-rated movie scene, or one prominent idiot, and they feel vindicated. It's not the media de-sensitizing people. They're just looking to deny their own guilt.
So I can see some performers who built reputations for being degradable objects, or "sluts," making personal decisions not to participate in that activity anymore. Not to justify slut-ification. Unless it's all part of an act that enables folks to point their fingers elsewhere, in which case [see my earlier remark] it's just politics.
Wow, been reading through this thread and this post pretty much articulates my feelungs on feminist porn and its main problems. Most of it really is women, switching roles with the men, instead of fully focusing on everyones pleasure and how sensual, sensitive and artistic porn can be presented without be boring. I'll be honest, alot of this feminist porn feels same-y, even gimmicky at times, cause its still PORN, just focusing on women.
Roma Amor and early incarnation of SinfulXXX, seems to be getting looked over in this thread. Those early films are easily the most sensual, tender, equal-pleasure films in porn history, shooting men and women with a "queer like" style that made the performers come off as equals I don't get those same vibes with most of the stuff out there now, alot of feminist porn just comes off as "boring porn" or even pretentious, forgetting that porn as an artform, starts with titillating the senses, way too focused on making statements/sending messages.
Only way feminis/ethicalt porn can really make it is if certain studios pay more then the mainstream guys and focus on sexy/attractive performers but, put the women and men on equal standing, throw out gender rules while showcasing groomed/well built men, focus on good sets, ideas and aesthetics, and they just have very sensual, arousing sex. I think women and men like the idea of a good looking/well built guy, clean white skimpy briefs, get the nipples on his pecs sucked and flicked, or a finger in his waxed asshole while he fingers and tweaks his partners nipple, but you rarely see that, its always a weird extreme.
People want the masculine /feminine gender boundaries out of porn, that want a straight, all around sensitive/sensual showcase of sex, and feminist porn still doesn't provide it.
Edited by - Sexuallysexy99 on 1/21/2024 2:10:04 PM
^Haven't heard of Roma Amor or SinfulXXX. I agree that much of what's considered feminist porn is the same old type of stuff. As I mentioned, it largely seems to be Harlequen romance-type porn. As discussed on here before, feminist porn doesn't pay extra based on the type of sex act. Also, I haven't noticed in feminist porn the most explicit types of sex acts that pay the highest in other porn, such as double-anal, double-vag, dp, etc.
^ Oh wow, you've never seen a SinfulXXX scene, nor heard ofvRoma Amor? Well, SinfulXXX didn't exist until 2016 so I guess its possible not to know of them lol. Anyways, I think your in for a treat, the studio is now distributed through Adult Prime, where its pretty much just stylized hardcore porn now. The first films from 2016-2018, is probably some of the most sensual porn ever in my opinion. The films are in a non-traditional setting and its made to highlight every inch of both performers bodies.
Its some of the only porn out there that feels like, the man/woman is on equal plain/gender neutral and they just want to have the most enjoyable, horniest sex possible. And best of all, the most sensual porn ever is still hardcore, check out "Make Me Sweat", "Passion Noir","Sexual Bliss and "WET!". Anyways, yes, too much of this feminist porn stuff feels either too weird or too sterile, like a late night HBO softcore flick.
I appreciate sites like Lust Cinema/Xconfessions, they attempt to be imaginative, but alot of it is just boring. People want sexier, sensual, tenderness in their porn, but they want imagination, good execution and good looking people to come with it.
^Thanks for the recommendation. From what I can tell, SinfulXXX seems to be beautiful artistry and sensuality with little to no dialogue. More just sensual erotic sex than plots and storylines.

I can't say with authority what feminist porn is, but what I would try to make if I was going to produce something:
-Content recording women enjoying the experience -Content that does not center the lessening of women or lean into negative ideas about women and sex (shit like incest and rape, fascination with innocence, etc) -Content that is not about reacting to the shitty stuff out there (like the aforementioned "women doing what men typically do" trope) -A set where the women (and everyone) get paid more than the least they are willing to work for -Content with a "you're paid to play" ideal -- 100% professional work but feels good for those involved, whether that means sexual pleasure achieved or just working in a collaborative and non-aggressive environment
Yes, and theres nothing else like those early SinfulXXX out there either. Their a pretty good example of feminist porn and maybe should be, actual gender neutral sex thats very sensual nd sensitive for both parties. If I have to recommend one more film from SinfulXXX, its most likely "Black Obsession". Interracial sex with the black guys stripping themselves of the masculine role, allowing themselves to sensually moan, have hard nipples and allow them to be touched, and just be in the moment with their beautiful performer. A very "not of the norm" movie for porn involving black guys, but in my opinion, its a beautiful erotic film.

I think its about fair pay/not holding potential earnings over womens head, safe/comforting work, letting the women in on parts of the production, that'll help her feel comfortable enough to really perform and accommodate to their needs/benefit the performer(s) beyond just paying them. Thats definitely what I'll do on the business side of things, as far as the artistic side of things, I just don't think i'd be interested in writing characters/stories in my vision of porn, cause it causes too many limitations in trying to create a progressive porn product.
I just wanna see two people enjoy themselves sexually, whether its B/G, G/G or BBG, without any limitations. I think a good number of people want to see a B/G scene go beyond masculine/feminine stereotypes (that even romantic porn still perpetuates)in favor of a man/woman that really wants to do things two each other and throw out the rulebook.
And the rulebook most handicaps men, women like men beyond penetration and dick sucking, and in actual bedrooms, thats demonstrated, not in porn though.
So true, Sexuallysexy. Sexuality is about more than just genitals and can be a whole body experience. There's a video on XConfessions called ""Outercourse," which is sex between a woman and man without penetration. Not saying penetration is always a bad thing and it can be enjoyable for some, just that there's more to sex than that.
Haven't seen the "Black Obsession" film, though it can be nice to feature Black men outside of the stereotypical aggressive roles or without the size of their d*cks being fetishized. There are other videos that also portray Black men more erotically than aggressively. Yet, this isn't always relegated to separate videos and can be included in videos that aren't just interracial. Do you know if SinfulXXX also features Black women, BBWs, punk, or performers with looks outside the conventional standards?
Sorry for taking so long to respond, as I do think this is a thread that needs to be updated frequently. But to answer your question, not really, SinfulXXX does have scenes with curvaceous/older women/Black women, but their all going for a sexy, feminine look, the goal for XXX always seemed to be "be the most sensual, sexy and tender porn site out there" and that outlook helped them become one of the best feminist sites out there. Too many sites today claiming "female friendly" when its all just normal hardcore with a misfit cast vs sexuality to the maximum, no boundaries, which is what SinfulXXX is at its best in my opinion.
^Thanks for the reply and no problem about the delayed response. People can post as much or as little on here as they wish. I think I get what you mean by "misfit" cast as somebody who has a misfit look and personality and did misfit type porn some may call degrading. It was probably where I fit best in the porn genres, though I don't consider anything I did to be feminist porn. Much of what's classified as feminist or female-friendly porn seems to be mainstream porn stars in more softcore, sensual roles with romantic storylines. Yet, feminism is very political and deals with sociopolitical issues, though very little porn seems to.
I don't mean to come off harsh when I call alot of porn thats classified as "feminist" to have "misfit" characters. I just think that "feminist"/"female friendly should be focused more on the fantasy of sex, healthy relationships, actually enjoying ones company and pleasure. There's a place for different body types, fetishes but, I don't think it should all be classified as feminist.
I don't know, I think feminist should want to show porn as a beautiful, natural product vs all the artificial, fake stuff. And thats what alot of feminist porn does, but its just not an appealing product in my opinion. You ever get a chance to watch anymore SinfulXXX videos?
Edited by - Sexuallysexy99 on 1/26/2024 7:38:06 PM
Seriously some of the best porn ever made! I think I watched Make Me Sweat. Stunning, and everyone's bodies are lingered over lovingly by the camera. Fantastic stuff.
It kinda irks me that SinfulXXX basically got sold to Adultprime and turned into an imitation of itself. Makes me believe Roma Amor sold her name to Adultprime as well, and the person behind the name isn't even in the adult industry. Anyways, any SinfulXXX videos from 2016-2019, will most likely blow you away with its sensuality.
Is it just my imagination, or is the "cheating" theme done over and over again in feminist or women and couple-friendly porn? There's room for feminist porn to be creative and go in different directions, yet it doesn't seem to be much. Just seems so much like soap opera themes turned into porn.

That's just porn in general. I'm very tired of the skits and "themes" and "kinks" in porn, and just want to see hot women fuck lol.
This is somewhat off topic (or perhaps not). Consider filing this one under "if you thought porn has ethical problems," or, "the hypocrisy of mainstream social media."
This is an article titled "A Marketplace of Girl Influencers Managed by Moms and Stalked by Men" published by the New York Time yesterday. Unfortunately it's behind paywall, so you'll have to find your own ways to read it.
Basically, it talks about how there is a lot of content on Instagram and some other major social media platforms that is just thinly disguised child pornography, where underage girls dress in revealing clothing and attract a lot of (paying) male followers. And by underage, I don't mean just 17. I mean like, 9. The newspaper in fact uses a square to represent such photos since they can't actually publish such images. On other non-public social media platforms like Telegram, some of these men are extremely open and honest about what they are looking for. Most insanely of all, many of these accounts are managed by the girls' moms.
Bree Mills keeps coming up as alternative porn producer and somebody who makes more "feminist" stuff. Though this is true of some of her content, she also produces the "Pure Taboo" brand. Though I'm no expert on the scenes in that brand, from what I've read it seems like just another step-mother, step-father, step-brother, step-sister, step-whoever brand that has become very mainstream in porn. Though I realize this is just acting, some of the story summaries I read about "Pure Taboo" seem creepy plus the pictures of young women in pigtails made to look girlish and I imagine act that way isn't so different from Max Hardcore's content who has been labeled as a misogynist and pervert. People don't have to watch his videos to know he portrayed women this way, which became public and and shown in documentaries portraying him as a creep. Does it become different when Bree Mills' produces it? However, with Max from what I learned, the sex acts were very explicit even by porn standards, so maybe Bree Mills' content isn't as hardcore.
^Like many people, Bree Mills seems nuanced and may not fit into categories well. Her content seems very mixed. From the limitted amount of films I watched, she seems good at creating movies that get at human emotions and encourage thinking rather than just the cliche "I'm so happy as long as I'm getting fucked." Some of the scenes she produced don't have happy endings or even end with a pop shot, and her films don't always portray sex as enjoyable. This can make them more real, which can be what she's going for at least in some of her content. Perhaps, she may sometimes deal with taboo themes in the same way, getting at human emotions rather than just jerking off (though she cannot control what people are doing in the privacy of their homes while watching and they may have different effects on different people). Here's an article illustrating how complex she seems to be: https://www.jezebel.com/can-a-woman-get-away-with-making-fucked-up-faux-incest-1828968461
