I think a lot of it has to do with the studios the girls work for the type of career they want and who they're surrounding themselves with. I tend to think as long as Jesse is at DIGITAL PLAYGROUND she'll never do IR because they don't seem to want it and do fine without doing and at this point in her career Jesse doesn't have the starpower and clout to make them do it. One could say Jesse will do it when she's not longer a DP contract girl but I don't see Jesse staying in porn if she isn't working for DP. Jessica Drake I wouldn't bet on either. If she really wanted to do IR she could've by now. I think she (and perhaps Jesse) will toss a black black performers name out there to give the impression they're open to it and keep some fans happy and hopeful. But I could be wrong. If Jessica or Jesse quit the business and have to come back to porn because they need to for the cash...perhaps if someone made the right offer they might do it. But as it stands now neither of them seem to have a burning (if any) desire and at this point in their career they don't hve to.

I don't understand why contract girls can't do an IR scenes with black men in porn. Vivid and ZT is the only ones who let there contract girls do IR in the past. I know most IR watcher are white like myself but there are some black guys who do watch IR why they can't get an black fanbase? If Jessica Drake did her 1st IR with an black man then it would be great but not in an Wicked movies because the scene will be a god damn condom in. Now if she did her 1st IR with Jules Jordan and Elegant Angel (LT) now I would buy it. Maybe you didn't already know but one girls just did her 1st on her website. So that is 1 down and 5 to go.
It's all about the audience. DIGITAL PLAYGROUND has done a IR movie and has had a few IR scenes in their movies and I'm guessing the sales results wasn't enough to move them to do more or have their contract girls do it. I'm pretty sure if they saw an big increase in sales or if the demand was truly there those scenes would've shown them. DP has a big audience and there stuff sells well, I'm sure they don't want to mess with that business model too much.

Aurora's article is right on the money. The thinking that doing IR scenes hurt your career is dead now. That thinking was dominant during 90s with feature companies like Vivid and Wicked who made a ton of money licensing their content to cable TV for PPV. The southern broadcasters didn't want any IR content because of their racist redneck subscribers and they didn't want their contract girls to be tainted by any black cock. But during 2000's era fans were no longer getting their porn from cable and PPV which was now replaced by DVD rental, online porn sites like Dogfart, Bang Bros, Brazzers, Kink.com, and of course piracy. Most of online sites were not only doing IR but much harder content and rough anal sex. Notice during 90s AVN always picked someone contract girl from Vivid, Wicked, or VCA as performer of the year. Nowadays its Speigler girls who dominate not Vivid girls. In fact you hardly ever hear about Vivid anymore and I think they stopped hiring contract girls. Also nobody wants to admit its true but the recession forced lot of holdouts to start doing IR scenes to get work. Personally I don't have a problem with women like Alexis Texas refusing to do IR scene. I think they are just hurting themselves leaving all that money on the table. I don't necessarily think they are racist. It could be their families are racist and they have enough drama to deal with already seeing their daughter do porn, especially women from racist redneck states. On the other hand, I do find it hard to fathom women who will fuck guys like Ron Jeremy and Dirty Harry but refuse to do scenes with attractive young black guys. ;-)
^ Is Alexis Texas still the #1 IR holdout for most IR fans? I would've thought everyone moved on by now. Actually, I think it's more interesting that she doesn't do IR at this point and let the people who care about this stuff have their unattainable/unreachable prize. I'm kinda surprised to hear that. Before I started visiting this site I assumed the percentage of non-contract porn girls who did IR was about 70% or so. It's because she does some of everything and can hop around from genre to genre before she bores that audience. For the vanilla porn crowd she'll do some WICKED or DIGITAL PLAYGROUND, etc, stuff. For the IR fans she'll do some WCP, BLACK MARKET, etc, stuff. For the anal and harder stuff she'll do JULES JORDAN, EVIL ANGEL, etc, stuff. If you like Gangbangs, she'd done them, if you like features she's done them. Because she does all this stuff she has a huge and diverse fanbase who follow her stuff and keeps her in demand. She wasn't able to achieve this type of success until she stopped with the "pacing/holding out" mindset. Sasha Grey was a big hit right off the bat because she hit the ground running and did stuff that appealed to almost everyone by doing alittle of everything. Other pornstars are in the biz for years before they have any major success because they take years to get around to doing anal or IR or "harder" scenes. There are lots of girls in the biz who a big chunk of the porn audience knows nothing about or won't see them perform until or unless they start performing the sex acts that they watch. By holding out on certain things they're needlessly limiting their audience, their work options and careers. End of rant.
Lisa Ann should stay out of the matter she had/has an agency she promote herself and has contacts others don't have also she sells well which surely help , She was on of those who paced her career though , her first IR wasn't in her first yea. Julia Ann on the other hand did IR and anal when she was still a contract star with Wicked

^ You are close but Nina Hartley did IR when she first started in porn which was 1984 over 30 years in porn.
My whole point was that she sells well because she has a big diverse audience because she does so many porn genres. Early in in her career when she was pacing herself she didn't have anywhere near the fame she has now because she wasn't doing the types of scenes that would get noticed by certain segments of the porn audience. It's not a smart move for a pornstar to limit what they do. Especially in today's porn world where there just aren't as many companies and oppurtunites out there. I don't think a girl needs to start out doing anal IR DP gangbangs in the very begining but they can't get away with holding out on anal or IR or more extreme stuff for years today like some of the girls were able to years ago.
