When it comes to making a comeback...I think a Bree Olsen comeback would be bigger and better received than a Sasha Grey comeback. I'd rather a Sasha comeback and think Sasha was the better performer and far more interesting to watch but I think the porn biz in general liked Bree better. For some reason some fans didn't like the way Sasha left the biz and thought she was over-rated. Bree was liked more overall and if she came back there's more uncharted porn territory Bree could tackle because she didn't go as far as Sasha in her porn performances.

After Sasha's recent appearance on Holly Randall's podcast, it seems she's embracing her porn past more than she has done in years. I mean, its not like she's ever tried to hide it or say she was ashamed of it. She's always talked about her brief (hard to believe she only did porn for three years and now she's already been gone for 11...) time in porn very positively and expressed zero regrets. Man, you guys could've been a bit gentler before crushing my hopes and dreams like that! 😂 I realise it's a long shot, especially considering how long she's been out of the industry now. However, I still think she could balance her current interests and hobbies with a return to porn. I'm not saying she has to come back and start shooting as regularly she did at her peak. I'm not saying she should come back and start doing some of the extreme stuff she did during her peak either. I'd just like to see her come back and drop a scene for a few of the major companies every 2-3 months. At the time she said that she wanted to focus more of her energy into directing/producing porn because she had already achieved almost everything she wanted to as a performer. Apparently she now wanted to make her mark on porn by creating her own unique content and briefly, she did! There are interviews of her in 2009, where she says that she has no plans of leaving porn yet and that she wants to continue doing it for as long as possible. She said that she wants to challenge herself and balance it alongside her mainstream career. Obviously everything she set out to achieve became difficult once her company went under. She was put in a position where she had to choose between her two careers because setting up and launching another porn production company from scratch would take up a lot of her time and energy. She would risk losing all her mainstream opportunities if she did that. So she chose the lesser of two evils and of course chose to throw herself fully into mainstream instead.

Without that production company and the ability to control and create her own content, she had nothing left to make her stay in porn. She certainly wasn't going to return to simply being a performer for other people's companies again because, like I said earlier, she felt she had done almost everything she could as just a performer. I just think that she liked being her own boss because she got to control all the facets of the porn she made for her company. I guess once you get a taste of doing that (no matter how briefly) it's hard to give up that control and return to what you were doing before. The thing is though, the porn industry as it is today is as good a climate for Sasha to accomplish what she wanted to as a director/producer/performer hybrid all those years ago. Look at all the amazing porn being created by women like Bree Mills and Kayden Kross these days. Someone as creative minded as Sasha could come back and create some amazing porn if she wanted to. I guess it's all up to her, but I just feel now is her perfect opportunity to get back in the industry and revolutionise it all over again now that her star in mainstream has faded.

During her interview with Holly Randall, she actually talked about why she won't allow anyone to ask her about porn or talk about it on her streams. The reason why is because she knows a lot of kids also watch her streams. So of course that sort of talk wouldn't be appropriate for them. Sasha has never shied away from talking about her past.
I suspect that from your point of view it's somewhat cruel to crush your fantasy but I think you went from fantasy to delusion. In your fantasy Sasha could come back to the industry and shoot the odd video but it's delusional to think that it's even a remote possibility. There isn't a single thing that is advantageous to Sasha's current career path in her even considering doing any kind of adult content. The good news is that she did plenty of it in a time when it was saved on digital medias and therefore easy to find.

Perhaps it is delusional for me to think there's even a remote possibility of her returning. Although, I never said she was definitely returning. I was simply hypothesising a scenario where she would return and what she could/would do in that situation. The combination of her doing the Holy Randall podcast, her mainstream career not being as hot as it was 6-7 years ago (it REALLY would've been delusional to think she could return back then) and the photos with Gianna, Angela and Rocco got my mind racing. I was simply putting my ideas out there and seeing what you guys thought. I know all this talk is pointless at this point, but it's still fun to talk about. I knew the answers I would get if I asked this question, but still wanted to throw it out there as a possibility anyway.
With all that being said, I don't know what sort of "career path" you're talking about? Sasha's mainstream career has already peaked long ago. I think it's unlikely she'll ever get back to the days of doing things like "The Girlfriend Experience" and "Entourage" again. Her current interests in writing, twitch streaming and Djing could be balanced alongside a return to porn. And like I said before, IF she were to return (I know that it's unlikely she's ever going to), I wouldn't expect her to put more than one scene out every 2-3 months. I also don't think a return to porn would hurt her DJ career or stop her from getting book deals. If that were the case she wouldn't have been able to do any of those things in the first place. A return to porn wouldn't be advantageous OR disadvantageous in any way to her current career path. So, my point wasn't that Sasha's going to return. It was that she could easily make a return and still keep doing her all her current projects, IF she wanted to. Honestly though, I think it's far more likely that Sasha would return as a director/producer rather than a performer now. Neither scenario is particularly likely mind you, but out of the two the former seems like something that's more likely to entice her back. I already went over the history of her failed production company and the part it played in ultimately forcing her to choose to go fully mainstream and leave porn behind. If there's anything that would make her return, I think it would be the chance to set that failure right and create the sort of porn she never really got a chance to. By early 2009, much of the talk in this thread was about her being cast in the mainstream film "The Girlfriend Experience" and where her career might go from there. After that point, there was still a lot of discussion, but very few new releases. Only 35 releases including compilations appear on her IAFD page in 2010, compared with 52, 98, 88, and 62 in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively. 2011 has 28 scenes listed, and they mostly look like newly-released old scenes, scenes that were previously web-only being released on DVD for the first time, repackaged older scenes, compilations, etc.
In May 2009 Sasha posted in this thread and mentioned a blog post she would be writing, and at that point I don't think much else happened in the world of porn for her. Then she went dark for almost two years on ADT before returning in April 2011 to tell us all what most suspected/knew by that point: that she had moved on from porn.
So to answer the question of how long she was in porn, she was busy/active from early 2006 to sometime in 2009. About three years. It does look like she might have shot a few scenes in 2010 but not many, and I can't be sure of all the dates of production.

Any title on IAFD that is colored in grey means it's a compilation AKA re-release
These are not new scenes and usually the editors exclude the year of release from the performer if it's their only credit for that year
e.g. Someone tragically passes away in 2019 but an old scene from a 2018 DVD is re-release on DVD in 2023 under a different title name. 2023 should not be part of the performer's years active career
Some of the yellow (webscenes) titles are from Naughty America. Some like it, some don't but they have a history of doing re-release too but for webscenes. However the grey status is only assigned to VOD & DVD compilations not webscenes.
Naughty America might re-release a webscenes several times as part of different labels/brands they experiment with (pad the catalog to make it seem more active than it actually is to get new subscribers who don't look too carefully while they film brand new content)
Naughty America also does re-releases for VR scenes in particular. The original webscene release might've been shot in 6K but years later might put out an 8K remaster of it.
2020 is particular is an egregious year because of the pandemic when productions were put on hold so a lot of re-releases happened from multiple studios or "new sites" would randomly pop up offering "new content" that were mostly re-edits with different music, angles or very minor changes from the original.
A site like hushpass technically existed in the early 2000s but was relaunched and rebranded in the later 2010s. Even right now the new owners are still remastering old scenes to HD You know these are old because they're not in 4K quality like modern newer scenes they currently shoot. IAFD extracts the release date given even if it's not accurate and using the original release date which was not archived or nobody knowledgeable has not yet submitted a correction.
Date of production is arguably a better method but not all webscenes or companies provide that info publicly.
Some like Jules Jordan will hold onto scenes and sit on them for years before they finally see the light of day. Something might have been shot in 2015 but only finally gets released for the first time in 2020. IAFD would use the 2020 release date for the scene even if the performer has been retired for several years.
Finally most early 2000s content made their debut on DVD back when the format was at its peak and most profitable. Streaming came much later.
If something was released on DVD in 2009 for example, there might not have been an official company website to stream it in 2009. Maybe fans only get to officially & legally stream it in 2012. IAFD would extract the 2012 release date provided for Part 1 or Scene 2, etc
IAFD while great isn't perfect and has yet to add connections to DVDs & webscenes that are the same project.
Performers with credits in the high hundreds or in the thousands is misleading. Take away compilations, re-releases and DVD releases (almost everything premieres first via streaming now) the number of original/debut titles probably drops in half
