Alternatively, what would you do if you found out your wife had a hidden stash of shoes and purses she'd spent thousands of dollars on - items solely (pardon the pun) for her own use and pleasure...items she secretly purchased with money you both earned. Finally faced with the extreme nature of her clearly out of control habit, you'd have no choice but to file for divorce.

I was presuming nothing. But you can't deny it's a lot easier to hide porn on a computer than to physically store discs & magazines (it is with a stash the size of mine, anyway). Thankfully, I don't have to hide my stuff but if I did I'd make sure I did my research to make it as difficult for prying eyes to access (I'm talking about computer porn here) as I possibly could.
Actually, a thought just occurred to me. Is jerking off to porn more exciting when done behind your partner's back, rather than with their knowledge and consent? Maybe that's another reason why porn isn't doing it for me any more - there's no sense of illicitness, of doing something sleazy and 'wrong'. How exciting would having an affair be if your partner knew and approved?

When it is obviously fake it annoys the hell out of me, as do the really loud ones-you switch from one scene where it is normal volume & then the next scene she is screaming her head off & you have to turn it down fast.

What just occurred to me is that women who get upset at their guy watching porn would probably freak the fuck out if they realized that, more likely than not, their guy has a crush on a particular girl. The fact that we know these girls' stage names, their heights, weights, likes, dislikes, etc. would likely make it all seem much more personal and, in her eyes, illicit.

Why do I continue to read this loathsome thread as it keeps coming back up?
Am I the only one who has wondered if the OP is just making up stuff? I mean, I don't care if he is. But at a certain point he's pretty much gloating about a possible child and crediting a pornstar (was it Sasha Grey?) for its conception. Which is actually scummy, like he's getting off on putting intimate info on here. And this info is here for a long time. What kid would want to feel like that's how they were brought into the world? And then know your dad was a dick about online? It's a little tiny person you made. You don't act snide about it/him/her online. (EDIT: I'm not saying the kid, if it became real, would read this forum eventually. I'm just saying it's a shitty attitude for a potential father.)
Secondly, don't hide porn from your wife. Why even be married then? Why even be invested in what's supposed to be a loving relationship, if you're gonna be fake? I don't get how someone can have porn as a huge part of his/her life and just hide it or act like it's no big deal. That's sleazy lying. I almost suspect the OP was just putting us on.
I'm in a loving, well-functioning, long-lasting and overall damn good relationship and I've never even considered hiding or lying about how interested I am in porn. I have tons of it in DVD binders and external hard-drives. I'm enthusiastic and talkative about it (if the subject comes up). And I'm just a regular guy. In my opinion, the OP was a skeezmo from the get-go by just not being himself.

Ditto.
I've been musing on my earlier comments about enjoying porn more if it's done in a clandestine fashion and I think that's probably true (for me, anyway). But then, I would never want to be with a woman who was vehemently anti-porn. Bit of a catch-22, really.

I think the thrill of the "illicitness" is a big thing. My wife has always known I watch porn, but what if somehow I was "outed" to some friends of ours? That still carries a kick for me. Here's another way of getting back that adrenaline rush: show your partner a scene that depicts some sexual act or fetish that turns you on, but she has not been aware of. Or show her who your latest "porncrush" is and ask her to give you a handjob while watching your favourite scene of hers.
My wife is always astonished how much personal information I know about my favourite porn stars. She learned a long time ago that I know more about her vital statistics than she does herself. She plays up to my obsession with guessing a busty woman's breast size walking down the road. Who knows why we men feel the need to collect all these statistics, having to categorise. Isn't it fun though?
This thread is getting more interesting all the time!

^ Yeah, my girl is like that. If a large-breasted chick appears on TV and I happen to be out of the room she'll call me in (she knows I love boobs), or she'll point them out in public if I happen not to have noticed (well, I'll pretend I haven't...hey, I'm a guy, I have boob radar). And she'll also jerk me off to porn - now THAT I do like! Show me a guy who wouldn't enjoy that. Trouble is, it doesn't happen nearly often enough. You have to be careful with how much you request something like that. Too much and she's liable to get a complex.
I agree with you about this thread - it's definitely a favourite of mine.

^ Nothing like an understanding wife who is willing to take matters into her own hands. As I have noted before, porn is my thing, she knows but prefers not to watch, other than the occasional scene to get her going. Recently she actually has given me a challenge. If I think there is so much porn these days that is "couples friendly" and hot, then find something 15-20 minutes long and show it to her. I will be successful if by the end of it I am stroking her!

I completely understand hiding (or not mentioning) habitual porn watching and stashes from a new girlfriend,, but a wife? Whether it be porn or anything else, why would you marry somebody who's fundamentally opposed to something you enjoy?
As for the "illicit thrill", why put your need for a thrill ahead of something that might devastate the person you profess to love if they found out? Whatever kick you get from the deceit OUGHT to be undone by the reality that you're ultimately deceiving yourself - she doesn't love *you*,, she's in love with a guy who "doesn't watch porn".
Again, it doesn't matter if it's porn, a bit of recreational weed toking or a fanatical dedication to a sports team, if your partner is upset by it and you aren't prepared to give it up, you're not compatible.
Ideal partners don't have to share one anothers' interests but they do need to be able to comfortably live alongside and accept their differences. Living a lie isn't a route to contentment.
Folly is the cloak of knavery.

You need a NAS, you can fit all of that in the area of a shoebox... Instructions and hardware recommendations.

The plastic will eventually start yellowing and become too opaque for the laser to read it, also if you store them in a humid area then the metalized reflective layer can become corroded also causing the disc to become unreadable.
This is why I use a custom built NAS. It grows with my collection but does not grow in physical size ad by the time the part start needing to be replaced I'm usually already looking at replacing them for more storage space.

Firefox private browsing mode, NAS storage system that is in a closet full of other system for the home network and home media server and whole house DVR backend.
We don't watch much of any TV as it airs, but have s system that records shows as they air that hold thousands of hours of HD video so we can binge watch a series in a day or two if we don't want to do anything else.
This kind of setup uses less power and produces less heat and noise and is also cheaper then th cable/satelite provider solutions and you have full control over it. Yes, you can even set them up to automatically edit out the commercials.
Now with stuff like Steam In Home Streaming you can even build a high end gaming computer, throw it in the basement and play games from it on $30 9w HTPC front end systems connected to the TV in any room in the house.

Want to be happy? Find a partner who likes you for you. Men and women have such a warped sense of what we should be to each other, that we often end up being disappointed with our partners and our relationships never achieve their full potential. Men and women with high sex drives or that achieve sexual satisfaction from porn need be no more ashamed of themselves than gay people or bi-sexual people. Hey, this is part of my sexual being, Healthy males can and want to have an orgasm at least once a day, (late 40's here, been into porn since I was 10.) Most women do not need an orgasm a day and are typically less sexual than men or the women in porn. That too is okay, everyone has there own thing that they get off to, but sex is such a core part of who we are, that lying to your partner about it indicates you feel shame about it, and that my friends will lead to all sorts of negative issues for you and your relationship down the road. Tell your partner what it is you are up to. Let them know that you are not comparing them to the images you use to get you aroused or off. If they are insecure about it, they will either need to learn more about it or the relationship will most likely end, but who wants to be with someone that is insecure anyway? Please also remember that your partner will not be able to be all things to you, Once you both realize this, you will find a true partner and probably a hot friend to watch porn with.

My wife saw a video of a baby getting his/her diaper changed, called the cops because she considered it to be kiddie porn. It was found on a site when my wife was looking for Michelle Obama photos at the State Of The Union address. It was an internet video, it wasn't on the computer.
One of the cops who came to my house is a friend of mine. How's that for embarrassing. Anyway, a long time ago I had a Tracy Lords video, that could be considered to be kiddie porn but since it used to be widely distributed they likely won't prosecute anybody who owns one if they don' traffic in it. I deleted that probably 5 years ago but you never know.
Why do I stay with the psycho bitch? We adopted a girl when she was 2 years 3 months old. In and out of foster homes, mother was a drug addict/prostitute. I'm the only daddy she knows and we have a close relationship. She looks like me, acts like me, thinks like me, and is coming to the conclusion that mommy is mentally unbalanced. She stumbles on 'inappropriate' websites here and there but doesn't freak out like my wife does. Northpole, a site some kids might type thinking that's where Santa Claus lives will find Peter North material. There are stuffed animals called Fur Real, my daughter owns many and mis-typed the web address, I'm not sure exactly what she did but she wound up on a lesbian site that has gals with full bushes down there.
4 years from now, we'll divorce or I'll be dead, one or the other. Am I happy? Fuck no but I put up with it as best I can. I love her mother like she was my own. The rest of her family is great. They've all reached the conclusion it was my wife that changed, not me. My wife has tried to turn her family against me but it doesn't work and makes her look like a conniving bitch which is a good description. Her brother can't stand her anymore, her mother wonders why her daughter became snide, rude, and obnoxious, fortunately, they don't blame me. My wife was OK until the day we got our daughter. She bacame a control freak.
Now you know.

I currently store movies on 2TB hard drives and play them using WDTV Live Hub. But eventually I want to use a NAS with streaming also. Been debating about DIY NAS or buying one. I'll probably buy one for general backup and build another for movies. Did you use something like FreeNAS to build your own?
I think I should also probably figure out how to encrypt my drives and require password to access them. I don't want my sister or her kids to stumble across my media player turn it on and see adult movies on there. Sometimes I think about what if I died and my family went thru my hard drives and found all those gangbang movies stored on there.

I use FreeNAS and Linux for everything. It's cheaper long run to DIY, many prebuilt NAS solutions use a hardware controller, the problem with these is that in the event of a failure you'll lose the entire array if you can't find an exact replacement for the controller. Even bottom end systems these days are so fast that they can easily handle all of the hardware RAID features and then some if you are using Linux of FreeNAS.
Most Linux distros prompt you to encrypt your home folder at installation, but the way I have things setup the porn box is a separate box that I just remote into, you have to have the password to access it from the network at all, same to log into it from a monitor and KB.
I'm not yet running ZFS though, just a RAID5 with a dual parity so 2 drives would have to fail to be in danger of data loss. When I next rebuild any of the systems I'll give ZFS and all of those image state features a try since with DDR4 16Gb ECC ram DIMMs will actually be an affordable option...

I've been using madm (Linux software RAID) for years and have never lost a bit over two failures. Just remember to spread your arrays across physical drives, not within them.

I once stored a bunch of fairly classic Penthouse magazines in a vacuum sealed pouch that I placed under the hood of a car my brother parked at our house during an extended stay he had in New York. My rationale for storing them there was that they weren't technically in the house and my wife wasn't likely to find them since car engines hold zero interest for her. One day while I was out, her car battery died. Being the enterprising woman she is, she found where I'd stashed the keys to my brother's car and off she went to the nail salon or God only knows wherever she so pressingly needed to be that morning. After a few miles, she said she saw smoke coming from the engine. So, she pulled to the side of the road. The good Samaritan who stopped to help her popped the hood to of course find Traci Lords and Shauna Grant, two normally smoldering young ladies, now quite literally smoldering. When I arrived home, I of course threw my brother under the bus and denied any knowledge. She didn't believe me and I know this because, to this day, whenever my wife suspects I'm up to something she's working over all the cars faster than a NASCAR pit crew.

^ Nice story. Storing magazines is a pain. I've been collecting since the early 90s and still buy on a regular basis. A large portion of my garage is given over to them and my wardrobe is chocka. But I like the tactile experience of reading a print magazine; I don't own a tablet and have zero interest in viewing them digitally. It just isn't the same.

Next time hide them under the spare.
As a kid we where very inventive at hiding mags and VHS tapes, booze and whatnot, had stuff hidden in ductwork, inside walls, false drawer bottoms etc. Parents knew to look in the obvious cold air floor duct, but didn't count on us modifying the hot air vent to be magnetic for quick and easy access. Even had a hidden VCR for duping stuff recorded off Skinimax and episodes of HBO's Real Sex. Parents never knew we had figured out the passcode to the channel restrictions to the box in our room. It's only 4 digits, only 10000 possible codes, crackable by brute force in an afternoon, or in 10 mins with knowledge of your parents SSI numbers and their personal phone book... Though I sold all of that stuff when I was a kid in the pre internet days, when most kids had to actually go out looking for porn like it was buried treasure.
