I already use WDTV Live Hub to play movies from hard drive. But it would be nice to browse thru my collection using thumbnails images of boxcover art instead of text titles. I know there is software like KODI/XBMC that includes software used to find and download artwork for various mainstream media (e.g. movie boxcovers and CD album covers) which can then be used to browse thru your home online media database. I was wondering if that software could be used to find and download boxcover images for adult movies? But it appears this requires using a community database that has collected the images already. Does such a DB exist already for adult movie boxcovers? The other alternative is to create a web scraper to find boxcover images may crawling DVD rental sites. Of course collecting boxcovers could soon become a thing of the past since streaming and download sites are replacing DVD rental. Has anybody looked into this already or tried it? Here's excerpt taken from wikipedia regarding this in Kodi (software): Metadata extraction and web scrapers Kodi has the built-in optional function to automatically download metadata information, cover art and other related media artwork online through its web scrapers that looks for media in the user's audio / video folders and their sub-directories. These "scrapers" are used as importers to obtain detailed information from various Internet resources about movies and television shows. It can get synopses, reviews, movie posters, titles, genre classification, and other similar data. XBMCGUI then provides a rich display for audio and video files that the scrapers have identified. Scrapers use sites like themoviedb.org or IMDb.com to obtain thumbnails and information on movies, thetvdb.com for TV show posters and episode plots, CDDB for audio CD track listings, and Allmusic (AMG) and MusicBrainz for album thumbnails, reviews, and metadata. More recently Fanart.tv has been added to the list of information sources[43] and XBMC can use it to retrieve logos, backgrounds, CDs with transparent backgrounds, album covers and banners among other image types for music artists, TV shows and Movies, the popularity of which contributed to XBMC being able to handle new image types. | lex von v Senior Member 2511 Posts 12/12 | Posted - May 30 2016 : 7:58PM I get the images from AdultDVDMarketPlace, they are all in the size of 80 hex 1132 pixels, but have a large watermark right in the middle. Then I go to demostore.inadult.com (or tendernights.com) and look for the same title, there will be the same 80 hex 1132 pixel image of the front and the back, but with the watermark in the bottom right corner. Using some quick photoshop (or gimp) mask magic, you can combine both to have a clean cover. I usually create an image of the entire cover, that is Backside + Spine + Frontside. The spine I get from smaller images found for example at hotmovies.com, or sexdvd.com, and size them up to 1132 pixels in height. Some older cannot be easily found on the demostore/inadult/tendernight database, because they only show items still in production. Here some scraper technology comes into play. I simply download each week the new arrivals for that site. On a linux machine, this is done with a few lines of shell scripting: I can share the download script, if there is any interest. This far, I have downloaded 70 GB worth of covers in over 150,000 single covers. Most of them are already named, but around 25,000 are not named, but they are somewhat chronologically ordered. For covers I don’t find, I’ll look on bushdvd, where the front and back cover for some of the older titles can be found, but usually only at 650 pixels in height, but altering the URL for the cover (removing the h=650), you’ll get the 1075 pixel high version. These are somewhat blurrier than the covers in adultdvdmarketplace, but have no watermark. The covers I have direct access to (from rental or I own) are scanned in at 600 dpi, straightened, cropped, blurred (to do away with the printing rasterization artifacts) and downsizes to 1132 pixels in height.
