I understand what you are saying, but what would you say if your daughter finished college, worked in the "regular" business field for a couple of years and then chose porn and enjoyed it (such as Calli Cox -- a Jr. High school teacher, Juli Ashton -- also a school teacher and Inari Vachs -- an airline exec. in her previous life)?
Also, how do you explain to your daughters (when they are of age) the picture of your wife tied up very tightly in your avitar? Unless they also have the kinky gene, they may wonder why. Sorry, but I just had to ask that one.

If they had pursued successful careers and somehow found porn attractive to them after "mainstreaming" and wanted to go in that direction, all I could do is advise them of the track records of porn performers in general. I'd also remind them that from a money perspective you've got a limit to how much you can earn with your body because it is a depreciating asset in porn. If they still chose to go that direction....they will have to live with the consequences of their choices. But it will be their choice. By that point...having worked in mainstream and tried the traditional route to success, they will be adults and the choice is theirs. I won't watch their work, but I will always invite them home for the holidays.
That's not my wife. But the picture is relevant to our sexual relationship. I've not discussed our particular fetish/kink with our daughters and have no intentions of doing so until they are of age, and then only if they ask. But once of age, if they ask, I'll tell them that mommy loves to be marked by daddy and, initially at least, it was HER idea. It just grew on me over time. It wasn't until I realized that I was being "too gentle" that I unleashed the sexual identity of my wife. They know all about sex an all about the intentions of boys who are, without exception, evil and loathesome creatures who only want to give them cooties (editorial comment is mine of course).
There is one, and only one, exception I may make to all of this conjecture on my part, albeit somewhat informed conjecture given available evidence. If my daughters portrayed a deep desire to own/run their own business, and entered porn with the intent of MAKING that their business, with a sound business strategy well-thought-out....I may, just MAY, be more than willing to sponsor their decision. Their old man hasn't worked for anyone else in decades and if they caught the entrepreneurial bug and had a genuinely sound business plan to present to me that involved porn, I may be willing to actually help them get it started. But in that case, I know of countless ways to make a buck in the skin trade without having to be the talent. But I don't think that was your question. I'm not opposed to the porn trade itself. I just think entering it as a performer puts you pretty far down the food chain as far as profits go. You'd still have a lot of future doors closed to you once you pursued that path. But if it was a good strategy, with a solid exit plan....I may feel quite differently.

You missed something though. Many of them may not be planning on staying long. It could be just an accident for some girls that they do a few porn scenes and they unexpectedly make a huge splash in the industry when they only really expected to dive in, swim a few laps, get their money and get out. Once you make the kind of splash someone like Sasha Grey makes, you're going to be recognized virtually everywhere you go whether you like it or not. If you barely make a few ripples, you have a much better chance of moving on and doing many things. I'm sure if you tried politics, you'd get "outed" in a week but that's because in politics, you're always going to have someone digging as deep into your past as they possibly can. That's not necessarily going to happen in some fields. Although it's getting more common, it didn't used to be that way.
I can see why a young girl might think she can do a few porn scenes for extra money and not worry about being recognized later on if she keeps a low profile. Unfortunately, as we know, it doesn't quite work that way. If a girl just clicks with the majority of fans, her name and face will be everywhere within weeks and from that point, it's very easy for her to get emotionally involved in making porn. It feels good to be praised for something. Anything.
Like I said, sometimes young people don't fully think these things through. It's probably really tempting to try to do a few scenes on the downlow for extra cash if you're a college student with no spending money. I've been poor all my life. It sucks. I can see them not really thinking about it until someone recognizes them in line at a store somewhere and makes a bit of a scene or something.
I think, probably, things will get better for people who have done porn because like they say, it's getting progressively harder to hide anything of any significance in your past and many of these people simply must find a way to move on when they leave the business. I think people who have done it will probably find more acceptance in society in the future because there are just so many who won't be able to hide it. It's a simple matter of necessity. Society can't really afford to continue to shun so many people who haven't really done anything wrong. It's nothing but pure revenge taken upon them for making an unpopular choice and it's childish and pathetic.
Regardless of whether it's a good choice or not, young women will probably continue to make it and frankly, while many will blame them if they fail to find acceptance later in life, I blame society for being so prejudiced, spiteful and mean. Society is moving closer and closer to complete acceptance of gays. Now while I think that's generally a great thing, I think it's amazing that society will accept two men who fuck each other more willingly than it will accept a woman who did porn when she was 19. That's complete shit and there's no excuse for it. It's not going to stop young women from doing it. It just screws up their lives and gives the adult industry a bad name for it. All because people want to get even with them for choosing to do porn. People really need to grow the fuck up.
Why is it in these supposedly liberated times, a woman still can't have sex with anyone without tainting her reputation forever if anyone ever finds out about it? Nothing at all has changed. It's as sexist as anything has ever been. This is hidden under the cloak of "porn is degrading to women". No it isn't. People who believe porn is degrading to women are degrading to women. If they'd all just shut the fuck up and stop holding it against them forever, 90% of the problem would be gone.

Sunny Lane also works at the "Cathouse" as a "professional" so if her parents are so supportive then they are probably suspect themselves. Does anyone really want there baby girl to grow up to be a semen demon, just a slurpin' and a burpin'? To catch gonnorhea and syphillis as often as the common cold due to occupational hazards?
I have seen Sasha Grey's interviews and heard Jayden James's parents raise these issues . . . yes I have to agree with Chris Rock; I would feel that my daugther's career as an adult entertainer reflected my success as her father especially if she was doing the really hardcore stuff like blowbangs and gangbangs.

Chris Rock made a career out of making stupid jokes. His social commentary on this and many other issues is a relatively bald effort to exalt himself in the face of a crowd of adoring peasants who hang on his every word. The fact that he's occasionally funny does not mean his social views are more relevant than anyone else's.
As for your statement about how you would feel if your daughter did porn, it merely reveals you to be a naked hypocrite and you're perfectly welcome to stop beating off to other men's daughters today. Porn fandom will not miss the hypocrites who take every opportunity to insult the people who work in the industry. Don't let the door hit you in the ass. You're part of the problem.

While I've no comment on the wisdom of Chris Rock, I think its not fair to characterize someone who likes porn but doesn't want to have a family member _IN_ porn as a hypocrite. I mean, I enjoy a really good, intense war movie. But I've absolutely zero desire to be a soldier fighting a war. I love a good slasher flick, but I've no desire to want to have one of my kids end up as a psycho serial killer.
I think people need to understand that theres a difference between enjoying the visual spectacle of porn and wanting to be on your hands and knees sucking taking a facial from the male performer. I don't wanna do THAT either...do you? If not, then I think that makes you a hypocrite as well.

What? What does that have to do with judging women who do porn? At this point in my life, I wouldn't do it but that doesn't mean I look down on people who do or that my reasons for not doing so should apply to everyone. For one thing, I'm a dude who is almost 40 and I have nothing to contribute to the sex industry. I'm not female and I'm not even an attractive man so even gay porn would be pointless. If I was a good looking man and gay porn had a solid AIM testing record, I might consider the fact that I had the natural physical assets to spread some joy for a living to be something meaningful. I think sex is fun and normal so the only negative point that would be left would be that I'd know about the stigma.
This is not the same thing as the slasher flick or whatever. First of all, slasher flicks are not real. I don't know how you can honestly compare a blowjob to murdering someone or fighting a war.
A person who puts that opinion out there that they would think negatively of their daughter for doing porn is insulting all the women who do it and it is hypocritical if they jerk off to porn. They are not helping. They are (Knowingly or not) helping to propagate the culture of rejection, the stigma and the discrimination these women usually run into when they leave the business. The least a guy who spends his time jerking off to porn can do is to do everything he can to try and end that. This stigma that follows them around the rest of their lives is the main reason spending time in the adult industry is avoided by many people. Why would anyone who likes porn want to contribute to that stigma? It's just wrong.

As I said before, I'm calling bullshit on everyone who says "yeah, I'd be cool with my daughter doing porn." Bottom line is it'll always be okay for someone else's daughter to do porn, but it won't be okay for one's own daughter to be doing it. Porn is still a renegade activity. Yes there is some mainstream exceptance of a few "stars," but overall porn is still considered seedy and/or sleazy. Porn's notority is used to sell a product, not to push aceptance. Perfect example would be the recent discussion about the Sandra Bullock/Janine custody. It was always "Sandra vs The Porn Star" in the media. As far as the couple managing their daughter's porn career, that's just wrong. One could easily look at their "managing" as "controlled pimping."

^ Clearly, there is nothing I can do to convince you or anyone else that I'm sincere with what I think. It doesn't matter either, really. If you're so set in your opinion that anyone else's opinion must be bullshit, then arguing with you about it is pointless.

about 20 years ago i received a call from a friend. he said he has a video i might want to see. so my wife and i go over, and he puts the flick in.
as it starts, i see it is about a swingers club. a few minutes into it he points out a girl who we all know. in one scene she is doing a girl/girl scene, and another with 3 guys. we come to find out that her and her husband were swingers, but none of the old gang that knew them had any ideas. i wound up asking to turn it off as it was too hard to watch.
i never looked at them the same way again. they were still my friends, but knowing what i saw made it difficult for me to talk to them.
unfortunately, they divorced a few years later, and moved out of town. i wonder what became of them....

I did not really want to come out and say exactly this about such parents but c'mon Sunny Lane proudly works at the "Cathouse"; what type of father do you purport to be Random Precision? I learned years ago that several "Porn Stars" moonlight in the "escort" industry. Rosco Fuji is absolutely right; such parents are suspect to say the least !
What red-blooded Christian man, or father of any religous affiliation for that matter would want their precious little girl to spend every other month swallowing liquid ounces of lust from random guys who really didn't give a damn about her or really respect her in the least? I don't care if you an atheist or agnostic, there is no way that have your daughter follow in the footsteps of some blowbang queen like Jenna Haze or Kristina Rose would not break your heart and regret your failure as a father.

I was referring to the naming of names of our beloveds who grace this board with their awesomeness (or used to - has Kristina really gone forever after all that IR bullshit?).
I think us no-names are fair game unless it gets really nasty, but you're probably better off in most walks of life being open to different peoples' perspectives. I can totally see why some people may call "bullshit," and all I can say is, I bullshit you not - I have respect for my favourite porn performers, and so it makes sense that I would respect my son or daughter's decision to go into that business too.

Is it really so hard to believe that not everyone feels the same way about it as you do?
I find it difficult to understand why anyone would consider working in porn to be such a big deal.
Unlike Sunny Lane's parents I don't think I could be involved with their work, and I'd be worried about their safety in the industry and future after it (whether they were my daughter or my son), but not heartbroken because of their choice. I hope I'd be proud of a daughter who made a success out of it like Jenna Haze, rising to the top tier of her industry and owning her own production company at 27.
I know some swingers and BDSM freaks in real life, plus a friend who's done some softcore/fetish porn, and I've not lost any respect for them, or treated them any differently because of it. But then I don't see consensual sex as anything immoral or sinful, not even when it isn't accepted by society. I don't see why I'd be significantly more freaked out about a family member having an unusual sex life or deciding to work in the sex industry.
This reminds me of people who say: "Of course you say you'd be cool with your kid being gay, but you'd feel differently if it really happened." - As if it's unthinkable that a parent might not be a closet homophobe.

But then again, we're on a porn site, so it's more or less preaching to the choir. Kind of like a bunch of relgious figures sitting around discussing how wonderful their god is. Venture outside the confines of a porn site, and it'll be just like Chris Rock says, "It's all about keeping your girl off the pole!"

I didn't say anyone's opinion was bullshit, I was refering to my original post on the topic. As a refresher here is it:
"This is one of those discussions that are purely hypothetical and everyone can say "yeah, I'd be cool with my daughter doing porn!" The same with, "I'd have no problem with my daughter bringing home a black guy!" For discussion purposes only and not to start a flame war, I'm calling bullshit on everyone. This is a true case of "not in my backyard." I've asked this question before on this topic, what happens when the daughter comes home and announces she's visiting the Gangland, or doing Cumfart Cocktails, or a Gokkun/Bukkake, or a White Trash Whore? Are the same accepting parents going to say, "Very cool honey, I'm so proud of you!" Are they going to take over managing her career so she doesn't do those things and she becomes the next big thing? These questions need to be answered also. But as I say, this topic is all hypothetical because in the BTS/interview section of the releases, when the topic of parents comes up, the overwhelming theme is that the father isn't in the picture at all."
One has to remember that not every girl doing porn is going to be the next "insert current big star of the day." Of all the hundreds upon hundreds of girls entering porn, the vast majority become the B names that grind it out; doing the Ganglands, the Gokkuns, the Max videos, etc. The best thing about big names such as Tera, Jenna, and a choice few others is that whenever they go on Oprah type shows talking about their sucess is that it plants the idea of entering porn into the minds of hundreds of young women. The girls see Jenna on Oprah, jump on a bus to Chatsworth, find an agent, and get to work. They either sink or swim.
But since this whole debate is purely hypothetical as I mentioned above, and for discussion purposes only and not to start a flame war, I have these questions to the pro daughter in porn supporters:
What happens when the daughter comes home and announces she's visiting the Gangland, or doing Cumfart Cocktails, or a Gokkun/Bukkake, or a White Trash Whore? Or is the daughter entering porn only okay as long as she's a big star?

There are some things in porn that shouldn't be happening but they are never going to be rectified with people who have your attitude running around. I don't know what you think you're accomplishing but I can tell you that what you are accomplishing is nothing good.

there's another aspect that has been neglected so far: the pressure to change superficial qualities, frequently with surgery and eating disorders. these are also found in mainstream acting and modeling careers. it doesn't look like such a great career when a woman gets implants and starves herself so she can succeed in a career that cuts off entire fields of options later in life.

I don't usually call bullshit on anyone here and everyone has the right to their opinion. However, I understand how Sunny's parents can support her in her vocation whether they agree with it or not. I personally would hope my sister and/or daughter would not do porn because of the sleazy influences involved. However, I do feel that I would support her in this industry, especially if her decision is her full choice (not just because she is broke and needs a quick buck). Most of you would probably react in the same manner.
However, I doubt anyone here would disown his/her daughter for going into porn, no matter what you would say. Disowning a daughter is a hard decision only entered into after much deliberation and thought -- I know someone who had to do just that for a while because his daughter was into bad influences/drugs and bringing it around his home, possibly at risk to his life. I know for a fact that if his daughter were just into porn and not drug dealers, he would not have felt the need to disown her. Luckily, this woman got out of that life, and I think her father's tough love approach worked.

Really? Have people become so dense that they actually needs to ask this with sincerity now? Then again, this is ADT, so i'm not really surprised at all.
The blunt and straightforward answer is yes, you were a failure as a parent. The porn life is indicative of the party, drug, brain-dead, materialistic, fearful of real intimacy lifestyle. Pornstars are not known for their shining intellects, excellent hygiene habits, or truthfulness. Most are pathological liars.

What happens if your son is doing porn? Do you high five him, break out a six pack and then talk about the hottest pussy he's had? Unless he's doing gay porn, in which case you disown him.

Same deal for the son actually. Getting pussy in your personal life is great, but actually doing it as an everyday job would take the fun out of it for most people i imagine, especially when it's so mechanical. The same characteristics apply, lack of intelligence, pathological liar, fear of intimacy, materialism, lack of hygiene etc.

I'm not really sure if that's hypocrisy.
I go to restaurants but I wouldn't want my daughter to be a waitress. I go to oil shops to get my oil changed but I wouldn't want my son to be a service shop worker.
I don't have anything against those people, I simply want more for my children.

Problem solved your son can be a waitress and your daughter can be a service shop worker.
Your utopia seems impractical. Where will we get all these subhumans to fill these important jobs that are beneath your offspring. Maybe we could pick a particular skin color and require them to fill these positions without pay.

I haven't checked this topic in awhile but wow, sure seems like we've brought the trolls out of the woodwork.
RP: I was being sarcastic. Of course you said a great deal more. I just found a lot of hyperbole in your statement.
I happen to think your ideas of hypocrisy are ridiculous. Just a strong difference of opinion perhaps. Technically, hypocrisy is saying one thing but DOING something else. I'm not doing anything...I don't ENCOURAGE my daughters to pursue porn. Once they are the age of legal consent, I become a spectator in their lives anyways. Any mature, adjusted parent would understand that. I don't think you are one so I doubt you can really relate.
So to call me or anyone else a hypocrite is completely a misuse of the term. To be a hypocrite, I'd have to FORBID them to pursue porn in any way shape or form as adults while actively pursuing it as a lifestyle myself. And as adults, it would be quite difficult for me to do that legally even if I wished to do so. But I'm also not going to actively ENCOURAGE them to pursue porn either. I see enough in the porn press about the negative aspects of the industry to believe there are safer, better alternatives for them. If anything I'm just the opposite of being a hypocrite. I watch porn, I pay for porn and as a consumer I do so knowing the fundamentals of what makes up a portion of the porn business. If my kids ask me (again, when legal) about a job offer they have to do "nude modeling" somewhere in Chatsworth CA I sure as hell will give them my opinions about it. So again....you have a long ways to prove to me that I'm SAYING one thing but DOING another. Now if I was an anti-porn crusader, you'd have a point. But I'm not so you don't.
I am very much against the way this country is being governed today, but I pay my taxes and I vote for people I don't think are perfect for the job rather than taking a stand and running for office on my own. I guess by your rather narrow view I'm a hypocrite there also?

I'd like to try and answer this in reverse. I came from a good, loving home. My parents were not abusive, on drugs or alcoholics. I was never beaten. I was the product of a decent middle-class home. I can't say that my parents failed me in any way. I did not enter porn until I was a fully grown woman, and my boys had all grown up and left home. I do it now, because I enjoy it. But I am old enough to be able to reason the risks. Do my parents know? No, they do not. They are religious, and it would hurt them very much. I have no reason to do that. I raised 3 boys, and while I wanted a girl, I never had one. But, if I did have, I would counsel her about the dangers and what might be ahead. If she was happy, then I would support her and try to look out for her as best as I could. And no, I would not think I had failed.

I have a teenage daughter, and I've caught her doing all the things you never want to catch your daughter doing... well, all of the things you EXPECT, anyway.
I'm a pretty liberal guy, so I can honestly say I wouldn't have a major problem with her working in the industry *on her own terms*, meaning, not doing escort service, doing the guys/girls she wanted to, generally taking control of her career the same way stars do who choose to only be with their boyfriend/husband/etc. If she looks great, loves sex, and wants to spend a couple years as an exhibitionist, it's her life, right? I'm led to believe the industry polices itself well for disease and such.
But... this is where the problem comes in... she has a lot of family, and that would really be an embarrassment for them. So, I wouldn't be okay with it from that perspective, it would cause a lot of consternation and whispers at Thanksgiving, and that would be tough to deal with.
It's 100% not the career I would choose for my kids, but life is short, and happiness is more important than righteousness.

In spite of your protestations you seem to be saying it would be OK if it's on YOUR terms....etc. no escorting and such. Think twice. If I had a daughter I would be mortified if she started doing porn.

I didn't see those particular replies (or I've forgotten -- it's been a while since this thread last emerged), but if people really said they would have a problem with their daughter doing it for the money, that's absurd. I find it rather hard to believe that the majority of people pursuing careers as lawyers and doctors are doing it for the love of society or some kind of non-financial, philanthropist purpose. Parental pride over these kinds of careers also have ties to the financial side of it, in my opinion. Not always, but a good deal of the time.

One of my jokes when I was doing stand-up was, "I thought it was bad when I heard that my daughter was a size queen...until I discovered that my son was too."

My previous replies in this thread are now obsolete. The current concern is how much of a career can be had in porn. There may not be enough food for all the fish in a shrinking pond.

check this out, its a brutal revenge thriller about a father that goes on a rampage after his daughter dies of drug overdose and he finds out she did a gangbang audition...

^ That's all pretty confusing. Are they her "killers" as the poster suggests, or did she kill herself? Was she raped or did she willingly participate?
