First Blacked emerged on the scene and it was a breath of fresh air with it's high quality production and of course the ladies they were shooting were all new to the IR scene. No question that site has enjoyed success and now we're seeing the emergence of several other high quality IR sites such as DarkX, Teensloveblackcocks, Blackisbetter, Wowgirls appear to have an IR site on the way too whilst the likes of X-art, Colette and Brazzers are shooting more and more IR with quality production too.
So my questions are what influenced this recent spurt of IR sites and will this help take the genre to new heights? With the financial hit the industry took in recent years I'm surprised this is happening to be honest but I'm certainly not complaining.

My only guess is that the producers wanted to fetishize IR but at the same time not play along with the tired, clichéd negative stereotypes suggesting black men are thugs or savage degenerates who corrupt the naive, innocent white women. Perhaps the likes of Blacked and DarkX want something different that has a USP unlike the dime a dozen IR gonzo scenes that have been around for more than a decade with the tiny little white girls wanting the big black cock?

^ Don't get me wrong, I don't deny Blacked does that but it's not half as trite as the IR gonzo in the early to mid 2000's.

Evolution? I don't know about that. But the argument can be made that the genre has seen a spike in popularity.

Yes but where did that come from? Because lets remember the IR genre has been around for years and years and yet these sites have emerged and you're seeing black male talent like Rob Piper picking up an AVN award!!...the sea change has been swift.

Unless the IR category itself has changed, which it appears not to have based on other threads around here, then no, IR is not going through an evolution. It may be currently going through a period of more content available, which is understandable. The adult industry goes through periods where just about every mainstream genre goes through more content being available due to what is selling well. The parody genre seems to have been the last big surge which is probably winding down now as it has been run into the ground. In time I am sure the IR surge will follow after it too has been run in the ground and another genre will gain traction. An evolution, no. An evolution would require a major actual change in the genre that takes over, not just more of it being produced.
An example of what I would consider to be an evolution in the adult industry would be the change from film to video. This brought an actual change (not necessarily a good one but an actual change) where you went from needing adult film makers to know about how to shoot and edit on film to adult film makers only having to shoot and edit on video, which is much easier. It also heavily changed the budgetary needs of a production, video is far cheaper than film.

Well one of the biggest changes is that more girls are doing IR . This was the case even before blacked but blacked has only accelerated it. Which is a good thing. It seems that girls who dont do IR within their first 3 years are now in the minority. It was the exact opposite just 15 years ago - especially among the big contract stars - and the few ones that did it only did one or two their entire career. The only thing I fear now is IR getting overdone. Hopefully the talent managers look out for their stars and pace them accordingly.
By the way, there also seems to be a small increase in mainstream stars appearing on dogfart.

Blacked is only exploiting a void left by the fall of Elegant Angel what they do has already been done by LT , plus the retreat of WCP may be considered , their products weren't and aren't the presentation of thugs exploiting girls , one of my favourite scene was a policewoman halting a black driver and literally exploiting him in order to be fucked , mind you they used the stereotypes ,i.e. she stops him because he's a black man in a white place, he is outraged of course but she finds a weapon and deem him dangerous so puts him in perquisition position he's even more outraged but she forces him to fuck her right there right now while she bends over upon the car , quite a different flick.
Mason never made any difference she have shot IR quite frequently, but she didn't put her production into IR label there were mixed productions , apparently from now on she will differentiate to feed her new site.
But it's nothing new the kind of content that is on DarkX now was on Erotica X or Hard X or in her previous Elegant Angel's movies
There are always been a lot of IR sites brazzers had three plus Mofos ,
None of them was stereotyped their teen series weren't very different from what you find on Teen Love black Cocks
Smash pictures also used to produce wery good flicks with their White Wife Black Cock series
Wowporn always did IR without considering it any different from any other porn they made, they didn't even mention one of the actor was black in their presentation/description of their scenes, so they aren't doing anything new, they're just differentiating IR content from the rest.
Also many companies closed, disappeared or have basically ceased to produce iR content.
There's a lot less offer than before actually , it has only been partially replaced , but those filling the void are a lot more visible, plus the market is changing despite the rants of the fans of the extreme actually those who really sell are those who put passion in the movies ,kisses are increasing everywhere, sites with just passionate one on one content are increasing and so is IR with that kind of content

^If it were only a matter of Blacked's scenes not having "thug" storylines, then this IR boom would have happened a lot earlier. The work of LT and Elegant Angel, of Mason, WCP, etc. are not why Colette.com is shooting IR, or why Babes.com has created Black is Better. Neither is it why why Team Skeet has launched Teens Love Black Cocks, or why Mason has started a dedicated IR website. Blacked is the reason, plain and simple.

I disagree , first off Mason is just placing in a categorized site what she already did before making no difference , and I'm not sure that it's an "evolution" she used to film "sex" whatever the race, now she's shooting Interracial on one site and "sex" on the others.
As for brazzers:
Butt and blacks, racks and blacks ,Teens like it Black
Do you think those sites were this much different from Blacked and the other sites?
I don't think so.
Also consider this did you take count about how many IR scenes Piper Perri did since her first in February?
I lost count , ten maybe , do you ever thought about how many would they have been had she shot for Blacked with their usually six months exclusive?, two? three?
I'm glad she didn't sign with them.
Anyway while I admit some may be trying to go fishing in the same pond as Blacked, the pond is still the same many new customers are old IR fans

Im wondering if Lisa Ann has a lot to do with this evolution. She is the top milf of all time and did a lot of IR. Im wondering if other stars saw that and concluded that IR in fact does not ruin your career.

Why do you think that she's decided to do that?
What do sites from years ago that (unfortunately) did not last have to do with the Blacked caused IR boom of 2015?
I'm very glad that Piper has shot a lot of scenes with performers whom I like, but her doing so does not mean that Lansky's very successful take on IR did not expand the market and lead to the creation of multiple competing websites.

The first two sites ended over 7 years ago (and are from a time when Brazzers didn't know what it wanted to be and was attempting to be a Reality Kings/Bangbros clone), and the third site literally didn't last outside of the first set of scenes posted (if you look at that page, all those scenes came out the same day and they never updated that site again). I don't know what you're really trying to prove by posting those, except that they once had an interest in IR sites that they abandoned a long time ago.
As for the topic of the thread, Blacked showed their money to be made in shooting IR scenes that looks like it had some thought put into the scenery of it, and other companies are trying to get in on that. In the end, a couple will stay updating, and most of the rest will ended up as failed experiments on the network they are a part of.

In the grand scheme of things, is it a good thing that black guys in the industry are being more "fetishized" now than ever before? Sure, it's good that they're obviously getting more work nowadays, but I just think we should be getting closer to a point where it's not an "OMFG!" moment everytime a white girl decides to work with a black guy for the first time; this current IR boom seems to indicate that even in this day and age, we are still nowhere near the point where a porn scene between a black guy and white woman is seen as simply a B/G scene. Then again, maybe I'm just thinking too much into it.

For Mason , DarkX has too few scenes so far , they need to fill it with content to appeal more customers, wouldn't be smart if she does IR content in her other sites neglecting DarkX , so I thought it was the logical thing to do , plus having separate memberships those customers who seek IR especially wouldn't be happy if she tries to force them to buy another membership.
As for the content at Brazzers , back then there was a lot of IR content being made , Devil's , Juicy, Justin Slayer, Black Ice, WCP, Diabolic/Anabolic, Elegant Angel, EXquisite, Pink Visual, Candy , King Midas, KickAss , Smash , Darkside, Combat Zone , Mercenary, Red light District, Platinum X , Evil Angel, Jules Jordan and many more I can't remember right now, plus some Home made sites.
In such situation those sites didn't get the success they deserved , their attempt to change the offer with less stereotyped content (at least compared to the others) it didn't work , it didn't work for anybody who was producing one on one content with "regular" (as in no thugs involved) IR content which unfortunately were those owned and produced by African Americans
Many of those went out of business some others limited their IR content dramatically the offer dropped , few of them continued but still very little compared to what it was.
There's no boom the IR market is just recovering what went lost but is very far from reaching those numbers.
For example back in 2002 or 2003 , Dogfart charged separately for every site they had each of which got updated weekly, there was a market big enough to support not only this but 5 dedicated sites devoted to unique contract stars some of them very successful , now you buy a single membership for them all, you got maybe 10 updates for the whole network and they sell it with discounts.
I only agree that Blacked expanded the market for a less rough IR content , more passionate , full of lust and showed to those who already were producing that kind of scenes there was a IR market for such content too , they tried , they sold, they created some new sites with such content
But as you may see on Blacked thread many customers are constantly asking for something different, more curvy girls, tattooed girls , big boobed girls , faked boobed girls, MILFs , fat assed girls , DP,multiple men , even BBW, there's a reason for this, they don't find the content they want , not enough anyway
Wow , HardX and some others were already shooting IR they just put it in a new container , they aren't doing anything new or special, can't say for Mason though from the reactions she's getting it would seem that DarkX has some quite different content compared from her usual gonzo, I can't tell until I'll join the site.maybe next month or next year at worst.
bottom line there's no boom unless you mean the kind of content and visibility , they're just filling the void left back by the demise of some producers, companies or directors

I agree we'll disagree LOL, but three down one up, still doesn't look a boom to me , content moved and categorized doesn't look a boom either and if those sites will continue to sign girls to have the only two or even the only one IR scene they will ever do, may also affect such boom

They didn't "have an interest" they sold content or tried to with no success otherwise they would continue as they did with their BW/WM IR content, apparently their customers weren't interested.

Well , consider this, Mason did put some IR scenes in the middle of non IR movies and did shoot some IR scenes for HardX or EroticaX without the need to put then on a separate site.
Same for Wowporn they already were shooting IR porn without any difference you could get an iR scene or not they didn't make any difference, now they too are separating iR from the rest.
Apparently they are forced to do so to reach the market , there are customers who only seek for IR and wouldn't buy a membership for sites with different content

I think some of what's being said here from both sides is true. I also think this all depends on a person's definition of what a "evolution" is. There is/was an IR void in porn left by many studios going under or cutting back on their IR production. BLACKED certainly has had an impact on the industry but it's not for one or two reasons as some are only focusing on but it's a perfect storm of a bunch reasons. There was/is apparently a sizable audience that wanted to see this type of IR content and no one was doing it in quite this way before. A lot of BLACKED fans are there for different reasons. Some like the slick high production look of it. Some like the type of girls they cast. Some like the more "romantized/sensual" approach of it. For some it's simply more IR. Some are into it because of the size of the male performers. Obiviously some are all into the "firsts" aspect of it.
Because the porn biz consists of people just waiting to jump on the next hot bandwagon there have been lots of studios trying to cash in on the new hot thing (just like with parodies a few years ago). Some are trying to copy BLACKED outright and some are trying to do it with a different spin. Some of these will be successful and some not so much. At this point it's the hot new thing so it's hard to tell which will last. Also there's the "exclusive" thing that other studios going to try to do simply because they don't want to be outdone. The "first" aspect is just the easiest to copy and now we're seeing all sorts of "firsts" being promoted for the sake of being labeled "first". So far fans are eating it up but I don't know if it's something that can be sustained because all this is becoming less special as time goes on. The hardcore IR groupies will always care about "firsts" but casual IR fans might stop caring after awhile...if they haven't already.
Lastly, all this happening during the "site" era of porn vs the DVD era. I wonder how much that plays into it. Are the people who really into this actually joining sites because of it? Or watching it illegally? Or buying the DVD? Is all this IR talk translating into money for the porn producers?

Good question, I mostly buy or rent DVDs if available but I also rotate memberships , I have a budget of 200 Euros per month , roughly $ 220 at today change, sometimes 250 , even when the change was $ 1.39 : 1.00 € which elevated my € 200 into almost $ 300 , I couldn't buy everything i was interested in in, neither DVDs nor memberships.
Of course rotating I could get the most of it but it takes time because I wouldn't get a renew too early or I'd find too few new scenes.
And yet there's people here getting every scene from every kind of site right when issued.

As far as I can tell, BLACKED has been extremely successful in DVD sales. I mean, every DVD that they put out seems to go straight to the top of the "Bestsellers" lists of adult DVD sites like AdultDVDEmpire and AdultDVDMarketplace. I think their Carter Cruise showcase, Obsession, topped the ADE bestsellers list for over a month. Total speculation on my part, but I think the studio's female audience has a lot to do with the success in DVD sales.

She definitely helped debunk the myth that IR is bad for a star's career. She actually didn't explode into ultra, global superstar mode until after she had ventured into IR. I'm certainly not saying IR was the reason she became the #1 female performer in the world, but it would be very difficult to argue that it hurt her. I think what launched her to the top tier was that Sarah Palin spoof. She was popular before that, but then boom, everyone was all about Nailin Palin.

She was very good at her job, she was attractive, and people have heard of her (which is arguably the hardest part to becoming a popular performer). I don't see what there is to not get. I can easily get why she wouldn't be someone's type, but it's easy to see why she was popular.

Lisa Ann was a big name that did lots of IR but there's almost always been big name girls that did IR that people could point to that didn't harm their career. Gianna, Sasha Grey, Bree Olsen, etc., all proved IR doesn't hurt a porn career. I think the bigger factor that helped make IR more popular and more acceptable was when the bigger studios started making IR lines of movies. And one of the reasons more girls are doing it sooner and more often today is because a major genre and simply isn't looked down on the way it was years ago. The shift has been made to it going from that thing a girl did at the declining point of her career to help boost it to being the thing you do earlier in a career to help boost it.
I really don't think this IR "revolution" will remain this strong. Some of the companies who are trying it now won't have the same success with it as others. Just like with parodies and other genres that sold well for a time, the bigger companies with the money to hire the top girls, top talent and money to put into the production will outlast and do better with it than the smaller companies. IR will always be popular but I'm interested to see if it settle in to be popular like the MILF and Big Butt genre or will in be more like parodies or Bukakke.

She had an amazing body, curvaceous, had fairly good muscle density but not overly ripped, kept her looks up, kept her weight up, (though she may have relied a bit too much on facial plastic surgery in her final years). She basically seemed like a more curvy version of a 90s Demi Moore. Beautiful face with a strong jaw line, never made the dumb decision of coloring her hair. Had a mature demeanor, carried herself better than the average porn star. Also it was hard to hate her. She never did or said anything to make me think she was a bitchy woman.
My big complaint about her is she had a very lackluster oral technique. (Good oral technique is extremely important to me.) The lack of swallowing was also disappointing. Also, I thought the whole Sarah Palin hooplah ruined her novelty a bit. And I do think she may have worn out her welcome a bit with the high amount of scenes she did.

^^ In my opinion Gianna, Sasha Grey and Bree Olson werent as mainstream as Lisa Ann was. I know Sasha Grey has gotten some mainstream attention outside of porn, but within porn I think she was only liked by the real hardcore enthusiasts. Lisa Ann was the Asia Carrera of her time.

I just don't get it, what is so special about Lisa Ann anyway, sure I watched a few scenes of her but she like any other pornstars. But I know she was better then Jenna Jameson because only she did IR, but anal, and the reset was history. I think it goes all the way back to woman like Marilyn Chambers, Sharon Mitchell, Ginger Lynn and Nina Hartley who still in porn btw started the whole IR thing which is cool. I never watch there scenes because I was born in the 80's (1984) but that was my dad time because he watched those woman. Well it's a good time to be an IR fans like myself but glad we have Blacked.com and Dark X to enjoy.

Also, she crossed so many porn genres. She did MILF movies, anal movies, IR movies, Big boobs movies, Big butt movies, Features, hard Gonzo, the classy type of movies, big budget movies, the low budget movies, etc., etc....She had a fanbase built across the porn spectrum who would follow her from one genre to another. And she had "it". She had that certain something that made many people enjoy watching her. Add to that she was a good business woman and you get a porn superstar. Of course there are people who don't get it because no one can appeal to everyone. Lisa wasn't the best looking, the best body, the best performer, the hardest performer, etc., but she was good at so many things.

^I only think IR showcases are problematic insofar as they encourage some performers to wait until they are able to get one rather than shooting "first IR" earlier.

That combined with the categorical lumping of IR with anal is a very big gripe of mine. The concept of delaying shooting anal makes perfect sense due to the potential level of discomfort/pain of the performer, so they would want to hold off on it until they've practiced it off camera. The idea that simply swapping a white dick for a black one is in the same realm of "extreme" as performing anal drives me crazy (also, it lessens the amount of content available for black male performers, but I suppose that's for a different thread). But with showcases in particular it's a bit of a double-edged sword. I do see a certain benefit, but it also reinforces the foot-dragging mentality that you mention.

I see that DIGITAL PLAYGROUND tried dipping their toe in the IR arena by putting out a comp of their few past IR scenes. I'm kinda disappointed that they didn't try to do some new scenes as a real test run because I have a feeling the comp DVD won't do that well and they'll go back to thinking IR can't/won't be a strong seller for them. And perhaps their core audience doesn't want to see IR but I still think with the current trend happing in porn and the success of it they should've done some new IR stuff.

IR or not I was never a big fan of there movies anyway but they aren't trying hard enough. Just support the companies like Blacked.com, Dark X and other who shoot IR, it just sad that these companies like still following the 90's contract girl stuff which that era of porn is dead.

At a certain point, producers decided that marketing a pornstar's first scene with a black man might be profitable:
Now, my impression is that anal is generally postponed more for business reasons than practical ones, and to that extent anal and IR are similar because they can be utilized as "firsts." Using firsts to your advantage for all they're worth is seen within the industry as being important to career longevity. Firsts are also opportunities to make more $$$ than usual. For those reasons we have the showcase phenomenon.

I know that most people here are fans of the more hardcore Gonzo type porn and don't like DIGITAL PLAYGROUND in general but I think their movies are great for the audience they market to. I wonder if that audience is at the point they'd support an all IR movie made the same way they approach the way they make their usual movies. I'm sure they'd get some crossover support from fans who seem to really be into girl's IR firsts if they threw a couple of those in. I'd like to see DP give that sort of movie a try. The time seems right.

An interesting tidbit from Jules Jordan's thread:
TheFanguy's hyperbole aside, IR is well represented in the Top 20.

Yeah, I've noticed that for most of 2015. Especially, anything BLACKED puts out-not only do all those DVDs go straight to the top, but they stay there for weeks. I think Carter Cruise Obsession topped ADE's bestsellers list for over a month when it first came out.

With the success of Blacked.com and Dark X will another company will started to shoot more IR sites, I think the one will do it if not Brazzers. They had shot IR scenes now, and they are giving good review. Could Brazzers opened up an all IR sites network because they are own by Mindgreek
