Jules Jordan: massive drop in quality

jjames Member 231 Posts 3/04	Posted - Jul 2 2007 : 12:25PM Having bought the last 4 or 5 Jules Jordan titles does anybody else think that his quality is REALLY going downhill since he left Evil Angel with my general feeling that most of his scenes were shot years ago and are not exactly up to scratch anyways. The only recent output that I thought was pretty decent was Mike John's (especially Racial Tension 2 which had a great cast and at least a little thought put into it) on the other hand Erik Everhard's attempts (which pretty much mirror Manuel Ferrara's Evil Angel output) at class gonzo fall WELL short of the mark. Anybody agree or disagree?? I just get the feeling with Jules that he could do with getting his output out a little quicker as it doesn't exactly feel "fresh". I think for the premium price that Jules Jordan's titles seem to attract the customer deserves a far better end product than they are getting at the moment. [Link]

And I was never a huge fan of his style, anyway. Erik Everhard is a damn fine performer so he can get away with it if the lighting and video quality aren't quite what I'd call great. There was almost a 4 month gap between the release of Pump My Ass and Buttworx, that would have never happened at Evil but with the responsibility of running a new company it is understandable. Of course I'm against piracy and I only want to own original movies since I'm a collector but I'm sure a lot of people would buy movies if movies were a little more price-acceptable so in a way your high prices is feeding piracy. And I don't believe Devoe's movies are better just because he's working for you instead of WCP unless you're saying he's shooting more girls and twice as many scenes for each movie than I can understand the price. The product he delivers if you look at other studios is well worth the money. A businessman in my opinion is purely interested in money and there is too much passion in his work that doesn't really equate to financial asthetic . The reason he has made a name for himself is his talent not because he has been pushed by a money making machine. Also he is a porno fan because his style is in touch with what the average gonzo fan wants to see. In terms of price I think for a two disc set with extras it aint expensive. For a $32.00 release that works out at £16.00 for me to import to the UK. If I were to buy the same disc in Europe it retails at £29.95 which equals out to $60.00 plus postage! Obviously I import from America. Whereas Europe discs are cheap in America as well. [Link]
Draxxx Senior Member 3831 Posts 2/07	Posted - Jul 4 2007 : 4:13PM I personally don't think JJ has had a drop in quality but I don't view or buy as much as his stuff because Mike John and Erik Everhard's stuff give him a run for the money these days and sometimes I just like their themes or the stars they use a bit better than Jules's stuff. The prices bother me somewhat but at least he give you 2 dics and longer scenes for that price. The downside of the double dics thing is one of the stores I rent from won't rent double discs. The other downside is that with other companies after awhile the price of their movies drop where I buy them online but the JJ stuff pretty much holds it's price. So in the end I end up buying a lot less JJ and company stuff. His company isn't the only one that happens with but it's a bummer. It's a business thing so I understand it but have to wonder if he wouldn't be better off possibly selling more at a lesser price than making a bigger profit seller fewer. In any case he seems to know what he's doing and it's working for him. I'd love it if Jules perhaps put out single disc "best of" compilations of some of his older hard to find stuff at a lower price. I'm sure it would sell well. [Link]

They consistently cast girls that I am interested in seeing and then shoot interesting, hot scenes with them. For me, Alexander is hit or miss, mostly because of casting. I do wish that Jules were releasing more titles (with new content). I have to agree with Beaumont Livingston that it's not appropriate to count a compilation disc when discussing new movies that have been released. People who are fans of Jules (like me), likely already own the orignal discs where all of the scenes in "Belladonna Vs. Tiffany Mynx" originally appeared. So, to those people, there really was nothing from Jules between March 23rd & June 27th. I guess that, with the additional work required in order to run a top notch company, being able to continue to put out new releases every month will be a difficult thing to do. If the choice is between Jules continuing to put out titles of the same quality that we've come to expect from him, but less often or him putting out lower quality product because he doesn't have the time to do it right, I'd rather see fewer great titles than more "OK" titles. Fortunately, the other guys in the JJV lineup (including Chris Rolie, with the All Internal series), are doing a good job of picking up the slack. [Link]

Guys, let's say this is just the best Studio in activity - so it just couldn't keep on increasing quality in its movies forever. All releases until late '06 are very good : think back of Slut P.#2, Ass W.#9, Flesh H.#9... these are just great casts and great releases. And aboce all - please - this is not a matter of Price : we are talking Quality here. Anyone could forget about Take No Prisoners ?? WOAD#3 ?? Come on. "Jenna Haze Darkside" was a shock for me. I've been watching Porn for almost 20 Years and until now it's hard for me to convince me not to watch it everyday. I think that the "Darkside" concept should be repeated and repeated again so that former JJ perfomers such as Jayna Oso, Jasmine Byrne, Nyomi Marcela (even only straight scenes) could have their chance to get their (brilliant) career (and physic!) being finally awarded. I am also very disappointed to see that the "Invasian" concept cannot see a 3rd episode being released : there's so much people to study cast about this eventual one ... !!! Any Chance to see one of these soon ?? ( Another point is that I take more pleasure trying to find what next releases could be and include in terms of cast... rather than checking releases themselves ... ) Regarding the Evil Angel Directors issue - no competition possible, all bad quality to me (mainly because of bad casts) - except Darkko ones (and few Clark ones). To me - Safado was the greatest Arnaque ever. And to close discussion about this, I totally agree on the fact neither Everhards or Devoes or Johns releases can challenge with the ... Master himself. I don't buy as many of Jules movies as I did a few years back (mostly because of price), but every now & then he puts out a "must have". My taste has also changed over the years. It's hard for any director to compensate for that. But then again, I've never been a one-director fan. I've gone through many phases over the years; Bruce Seven, Buttman, John Leslie, Joey Silvera, Rocco, Christoff, Jules, Jake Malone, Manuel & Everhard & I'm sure there's many more. I often revisit these guys from time to time also. Without a doubt, JJV & Evil Angel are my two favorites. Unfortunately, the higher prices led me to buying a lot of RLD's stuff over the last year or so. Perhaps if these companies went back to single discs & reduced prices, they would sell more...just a thought. [Link]

He is the only one in the Business that has turned near Impossibles into realities. It would be good if he put out 2 releases a month ,but he does not want to Flood the market with Filler Flicks. People are entitled to their opinions,but the fact is there is now other Directors who are now following his style. As they say,If you reach the Top everyone wants to Knock you over. There are other Directors like Van Styles,Eric Everhard etc who are fast Improving and are covering some ground. But he is still the King of Gonzo,but other Directors are slowly closing in. I'm sure he has some bag of tricks up his sleave,and lets hope he can pull the Rabbit in Darkside. If he can get an Impossible Chick to do Darkside ,then he will once again surge further ahead of his rivals. [Link]

There are a few, like Breat Worship and Ass Worship 9, that I normally would have puchased, but the high price put me off. (Though I also admit I'll buy anything he puts Charmane Star in, regardless of the price. She's one of my all time favorites, especially in her performances for Jules.) As for a drop in quality, I don't agree. While I admit I haven't bought all his recent titles due to pricing, I will say the ones I have bought I've been more than pleased with. For me, it's a matter of -- do I like the theme and do I like the cast? if the answer is yes to both, I'll probably check it out. One thing I can say is that the older EA titles hold their own even a few years later ... Like Joey Silvera, but in a different way, he gets great results from girls you'd never expect to even like, and pushes girls you do like over the top ... Feeding Frenzy 6 is in a permanent place on the shelf. And i need to replace all the old Aurora/Jenna/Gauge titles. [Link]

If it's just more included footage -- BTS, bonus footage -- of what was shot anyway for the feature, then there's no increase in value to justify the product being 1/3 more expensive than other new releases.
