| willywilly Member Activated Member 662 Posts 2/05 | Thanks for this news. Side note regarding present subscription to threads for email notification of new posts: Is clicking the new link "Subscribe to topic" now the only way to subscribe? There used to be a check box that one could tic on when posting. Now it seems that one must post, wait for reload, click on subscribe, that opens a new window, then close that new window. Don't get me wrong - I sure do like having the option to subscribe to any thread without having to post in it. That's nice. But unless I've overlooked something, there are lot more steps involved now if one is posting in a particular thread. . Is that a time consuming thing for you to add back in? |
| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | I could have it in both places but I wanted to force users to realize that there is a new system in place. I also thought that having both mechanisms would simply confuse people. If I didn't remove the checkbox on the posting page many/most members wouldn't realize that there's a new, more flexible topic system in place and would continue posting to topics in order to subscribe to them when they really have nothing to add to the discussion. |
| willywilly Member Activated Member 662 Posts 2/05 | Clicking a checkbox is one click - basically part of the post. Here, now - what I see is what I described. It used to be that upon clicking on "Post New Reply", both the post was done, and subscribed. Now, after clicking on "Post New Reply", I wait for the page to reload same as before, but I'm not done as I was before. Then click on Subscribe, get a new page loading, wait for it to load, then close it. Those are extra steps.Same as any time. Yes, it is nice.Oh, ok. Makes sense.Got'cha. No problem. As time goes by, after everybody gets used to/learns about it, perhaps then you can reconsider putting the other option back in too. Thanks |
