Said I'd STFU about Maria and I will. No reason to repeat my opinion when no one wanted it the first time. :) So here's a little parting gift. I based it on the top 20 sales charts that come out monthly. Japan's top adult retailer posts a list each month of the top sales, downloads and rentals, and she is never on them. Nor is Sora Aoi, who was an even bigger star than Maria two years ago. I got into fights on the JAV boards worse than I did here, arguing Sora's star had dimmed. :) But her last movie... damn. ^My all time favorite Asian performer is Kaylani Lei. If you look at some of her pre-contact scenes, especially in harshly lit ones, you can see blemishes too. I think that almost anyone can get them. I think that poorly produced scenes lots of unflattering things show up. In Maria's case, she is no longer under contract and I guess she is probably more likely appearing in less well produced scenes with poor lighting. She certainly isn't working for Wicked.
^I have to correct you there. Moodyz is one of the biggest studios they have in Japan. They produce about 20 new titles every month. I'm sure they're not envious of any american studio.

You are correct about Maria being a free agent yes. She still mostly works for the bigger companies. I would say that the vast majority of her scenes are well produced. I would be surprised if she was still in the business by next year.

*shrug* Trying to contribute since people are obviously interested. If I can help interest in JAV, I'll do it. Anyway... I wouldn't be so sure of her keeping making movies. Her blog updates are routinely talking about retirement and moving on to the next stage in her life. I think she's trying to work up the nerve to do it. It WOULD be a huge loss of income, Japan's economy is even worse than ours, and she's on the outs with her family for doing porn. She bounces between studios (her next movie is with Moodyz), but the studio system there is quite different from ours. One corporation will own 5-6 studios, with a variety of themes. Some will be softer in content while others are a little more edgy/rougher, but it's all the same parent company. Some people have posted the multiple tentacles of each company (joke intended) but I can't remember where I saw it. Wouldn't wearing lots of makeup exacerbate bad skin? She is constantly doing photo shoots when not doing movies, so she has to wear a lot of gunk. I would think that would clog pores more.

Maria has really fair skin. Usually that type of skin is delicate and doesn't take well to heavy make up. Probably clogging her pores and creating her skin problems.

Dress nicely, be polite, and you never know your luck. You will get into almost any club in Roppongi - the touts will approach you before you get anywhere near a club. Roppongi is a good place to get your feet wet - Seventh Heaven, Private Eyes, One-Eyed Jack's(?) or Kenobi's are all around the main intersection near "Almond" Cafe. However, many of these places may have been shut down by the police in the last 12 months - I have been dying to go back and see what is left. Mostly incredibly hot eastern european women, but Japanese AV stars and hostesses will often walk in off the street and get up on stage to get naked and pash with a white girl. It gets more interesting in Kabuki-cho in Shinjuku and at Shibuya. Just walk past any interesting-looking club slowly and curiously. There will usually be a young, yakuza-wannabe, thug-like, character or an old dude in a suit at the door. They will either ignore you, give you the crossed-armed (X) "YOU SHALL NOT ENTER" sign, or will wave you in. I can't recall the names of the places I went to in Kabuki-cho (there was one down an alley near an Australian pub), but they mostly had elderly doormen that invited me in on sight. Most places that let you in will have Chinese or Korean girls, but you could get lucky - especially if you look respectable and/or rich. Also be careful in Kabuki-cho - it is very easy to accidentally wander into the gay part of town and not realise it until some spikey-haired dude in a g-string sits in your lap. It is a great game to see if you can get into these places - part of the fun of a night out in Tokyo.

I reckon your chances of getting in there are pretty good. As it is a hostess bar rather than a strip club, the entry rules are less strict. However, if you don't speak much Japanese, it may be pretty pointless.
