As shelf space disappears, that space is at a premium and stores only want the titles that are in the highest demand; if they aren't, the store pays less for them. Being a 'top seller' doesn't necessarily translate into moving a lot of units, it just means you moved the largest amount of units for that particular seller. I've seen 'top sellers' on some stores that don't even exist in other stores and sell more on one site or in one store because that place is the only place that title is available. I meant the best sellers overall, if there could be a way to tally up all the sales across all vendors. I have only purchased digitally, but I imagine for physical copies they have serials don't they? Surely there must be a way to track what the top sellers overall are. Maybe we can get Billboard or Nielson on it. I wonder if the reason this isn't more transparent in the porn industry, as compared to music, print and movies, is because of lack of public investment? But people don't really take stock in individual artists, but companies rather. I always wonder how that stuff is tabulated, and just how accurate. One of my absolute favoritest radio hosts got busted last year for fudging his ratings. It was a big scandal, even resulted in canceled contract. But the other side of that is how the major stations were railroading him and playing dirty to fuck him over. It was a huge who-dunnit with some salacious caper-like details.
