Great point duefuss. Max is in jail for a token crime. The fact that he used the subject of 5 and 8 year children for topics of rape and molestation go unheard. ...SHAME!

What a crock of shit. I hope you don't believe that (And please. This isn't the place to argue about this).
What?
Are you seriously calling me a racist? Seriously? GTFOH! I realize you've only been posting here about a year but if you're going to call someone a racist, maybe you should wait until you know them a bit better. If I have said anything that would even give the impression that I'm a racist, I'd like to know what it was? You think I'm a racist because I don't like a man who happens to be black? Well, I can put your mind at ease. That isn't even accidentally the reason I don't like the man. I don't like him because in the short time he's been in office, he has taken an authoritarian tone and has carried on many of Bush's policies. I also feel that he was deliberately deceptive on a very huge issue. Sorry but that's just fucking creepy. No matter what color you are.
Well, as far as I know, I've not used that word here on this forum in nearly 20,000 posts and certainly not in anger.

I'm sure the creepy age-play element of Max's porn played a very significant role in his conviction by a jury.

Actually, ALL directors and producers should be on the look-out! If John Stagliano is convicted, all of porn is next, even Wicked -- the woman-run company! Our government wants to push "political correctness" on us, and that has no place for anything porn. The next step is the repeal of the First Amendment and all it takes is the vote of 39 state legislatures -- scary, huh?

I am not calling anyone a racist. I said that some of the opposition to Obama is racist, and it most certainly is. Nor did I expect you to agree with me. Your posts on the subject make it clear that your mind is made up, and I would never presume I had the persuasive power to change it.
I have merely put down my own thoughts on the subject. My post no no where accused you or anyone specifically of anything except to opine that your self declared disappointment has perhaps caused you to condemn Obama's efforts too quickly. Nowhere else will you find a single reference to you or anything you have said.

This becomes a funny situation. Porn companies are mostly composed of Europeans, or Americans who care nothing about our freedom of speech. I see them producing material that is far from sexy and geared more toward inflammatory and abusive crap. The "government" that is so keen on taking our rights away, figured out a long time ago, that the key to taking away freedom of speech is to produce an environment whereas the people demand it.
DEVIL'S FILMS produces a title called "It's Okay, She's My Stepdaughter". To me, that is not sexy. This is just another small example of the outrageous garbage put out there in the public eye that festers the type of response that will provide the unseen hand with the ammo necessary to further erode our First Amendment. The rats are in the cellar.
John Stagliano uses the rose for his company logo, that being the symbol for the Rosicrucians. If he gets prosecuted, it was definitely planned that way.

You're not supposed to know, no Rosicrucian will ever admit to an outsider that they are of that Order, and you can easily google it. Getting into Rosicrucian agenda would definitely bring this subject off topic and I do not want to do that. I will say that they speak more with pictures than words.

How about:
  • The part where you call members of the Tea Party movement "teabaggers."
  • Your statement that some of the president's critics are racists without considering the possibility that some of his supporters are also racist.
  • Your insinuation that RP's views of the president are influenced by racism.
  • Your accusation that the GOP's opposition to the recently-passed health care legislation is hypocritical because it resembles proposals floated in the 1990s. (Your analysis would work better if you considered the possibility that the GOP now opposes what it supported in 1993 because of what happened in Massachusetts.)
  • You're assumption that what you're hearing accurately reflects the political POVs being voiced around the country.
  • Your use of an impressionistic understanding of race in American history to talk about "how far we've fallen."

I think your understanding of contemporary American politics is about the same as your understanding of the history of the Second World War.

I'm sure it is. Some of the opposition to Bill Clinton was probably discrimination against middle aged white men with big hair. That's just the way it is. If Hillary was president, I'm sure there would be some opposition from misogynists and/or sexists. It would be odd if there weren't any racists who were opposed to Obama, wouldn't it? But simply because they exist doesn't mean all opposition is racism. It really does need to be looked at on a case by case basis.
In that case, you have my apology.

I appreciate the effort of your thoughtful reply. However, your criticisms seem to me to focus on what you believe to be errors of my understanding, not the malicious derogation that characterizes vitriolic accusations:
For example: The term 'teabaggers' is commonly applied to members of the Tea Party, as I understand it, often by they themselves. There is nothing I am aware of that is derrogatory about the term and it is not used in a context of insult in my post.
Recent events establish, as I said, that critcs of supporters of the Preident's policies used racist epithets to characterize their anger with those suppoters. Recordings of phone threats made by individuals to legislators are filled with racial insults. While these examples do not reflect any official policy of the opposition, the text of my post
clearly states that racism is present as A motive for the angry opposition to Obama, not that it is THE ONLY motive, or that it is the cause of the opposition itself.
Moreover, I do not believe that noting the fact of this racism suggests malice on my part. I did not call the people who used racist epithets names, and I was careful to suggest, as I believe, that most of these people" would deny being racists, indeed be distressed by the accusation." Nowhere is there ANY "insinuation that RP's views of the president are influenced by racism."
As for the racism of some of Obama's supporters, it very clearly DOES exist. There are the same sort of examples of it in, say, the utterances of Pastor Wright. But the focus of my post was on the behavior of Obama's opponents, and I feel no more obligation to comment on things outside my chosen subject matter than Obama's opponents feel compelled to list his personal achievements when they characterize him as a fascist.
As for my "accusation that the GOP's opposition to the recently-passed health care legislation is hypocritical because it resembles proposals floated in the 1990s," there is still nothing acerbic or bitter about that. You yourself admit they supported some of the policies at one time. That they no longer do was the very point of what I said.
By what other method am I or anyone to derive an understanding of "the political POVs being voiced around the country" than by what I "hear" on the media from which we all judge the events of the day? Even news outlets favorable to the opposition like FNC show the demonstrations of anger and contempt for the administration. I am, I presume, free to interpret what I see as I see fit. To reject the interpretation of others is not vitriol, it is opinion.
Additionally, I am as free to regard the behavior of the opposition as a "fall" from civility and "the spirit of constructive criticism."
Disagreeing is not vitriol. Neither is assumption. Neither is deploring the behavior of others. Vitriol is insult, belittling, name calling, and the suggestion that one is inferior, stupid, or evil. It is attacking the person who holds an opinion contrary to your own, instead of the contrary opinion. Your little dig about my alleged ignorance of World War Two, for example, being an effort to belittle something irrelevant to what is at issue here, borders on the vitriolic far more than anything I said in my post.
That you might regard a view different than your own as a malicious insult is indicative more of YOUR contempt for that view than of MY expression of that opinion.
The tone of my post is not one of bitterness and anger. It is rather of sadness and profound disappointment that we seem to have set aside working together to solve problems in favor of defeating any efforts to do so.

By the way, most women who engage in watersports in real life actually enjoy it, though you may not know it if you only see watersports depicted in porn. It really bothers me a lot to see something a lot of people do for their mutual enjoyment get such a bad name because one guy with a camera does it for the wrong reasons.

I’d like to chime in, if I may, with just a quick point of view on Max. I’m no porn star, I’m no porn producer, I’m just an average guy who likes watching porn. Like many people out there, who are between 20 and 40 like I am, I grew up in the information age, where just about anything you want to see is a short internet search away. And on the same line, I’ve been able to explore every conceivable fetish I want to see.
My guess is this won’t be a popular statement, but you know what? I love his stuff. Not because I’m a pedophile, rapist, or sociopath, but because quite simply, it’s DIFFERENT. I watch new porn all the time, I’ve seen works by every studio, every genre, probably just about every popular pornstar. It’s all so damn similar- 95% of every scene has maybe one cool or different thing in it, maybe, and it’s all just the same old crap after that. It’s all so vanilla, boring, and un-stimulating. Max presents fantasies, but in another way, he presents a kind of cut-and-dry reality that I find refreshing.

I could go into details to explain why his stuff is great, but I tried the first time I wrote out this message and it ended up pages long. Let me just say he hits on fetishes to the degree that fetishes actually go. And it’s realistic In the sense that if you were to actually play out the fantasies for real, you’d get a response closer to what max does than the way anybody else portrays it- in other words, the girls actually ACT it out rather than just going through the motions. He forces them to if they won’t or can’t, and you know what? I appreciate that. Which bring s me to misogyny.
Yep, he’s a misogynist, no question. So what? These girls knew what they were getting in to, a good number of them enjoy being treated that way, Probably most of them just wanted a paycheck. Maybe some were surprised, some even appalled, but so what? They all signed the release, and the fact that so many people think he abuses them against their will or judgment is just a testament to how well he sells it that way. Anybody who thinks different is just lying to themselves. Get real. The women he treats the worst are the women who KEEP COMING BACK.
Another thing you’re lying to yourself about is that his stuff is consumed by mostly pedophiles and sociopaths. His movies are some of the best selling movies in the business. I’ll bet my house the large majority of his consumers are people just like me. People bored and pissed off about spending money on an illicit subject (pornography) to stoke an illicit fantasy (young girls, watersports, super-high high heels, deep throating, anal sex, dom/sub behavior, you bloody name it) only to find that what they bought doesn’t go very far into their fantasy, and they have to use their crappy imagination. If I could get off to my imagination, I wouldn’t buy porn.
I want more Max. I want there to see more like him. If you agree with me and know of anything anywhere near Max, send me a pm. Nobody comes close to what he does and more importantly, how he does it. Believe me, I’ve looked. A lot.
Now feel free to bad mouth me and my opinions.

^I completely agree. What you said is exactly the same thing that I have said here repeatedly myself. Whether you like Max, hate Max, or don't care about his movies at all, no one can deny that the movies he made were different and stood out from among all the other cookie-cutter porn on the market that so many viewers (myself included) are tired of seeing. This is what made him so popular. On the other hand, the argument can also be made that it is exactly this difference that attracted him so much negative attention from his opponents, and unfortunately landed him in the trouble he eventually found himself. But this isn't his fault as much is it is of narrow-minded people who think that everyone in the world has to like the same things that they like. I believe that if something offends you, then you simply shouldn't watch it rather than try to throw people in prison for fabricated reasons. It would be nice if everyone felt that way, but that isn't likely to happen.
I also think that only reason we don't see more Max Hardcore type porn nowadays is because nobody wants the same thing that happened to him to happen to them, even though it can possibly still happen anyway. Had Max been acquitted, or just left alone to make his movies in the first place, then I have no doubt that we would see plenty of Max Hardcore imitators out there. As we can see, fear is definitely an effective tactic for making people fall in line with the status-quo.

I think the word reality sums it up. To me personally it is now the Holy Grail of porn.
I think amateur interview series like Private Castings or Ed Powers hit it sometimes in sincere moments with real girls.
But the alternate way to get honest reality is when girls are pushed into dropping the facade. Like it or not, no one is better than that at Max.
Maybe the ones to blame for that are the girls out there "faking" their reactions to these various acts in more mainstream porn. Leaves a yawning market vacuum for someone able to deliver it realistically.

I agree with the last three posts. The problem I have with Max is the fact that he and his crew went so far out of their way to keep depictions of pretty toes in sheer socks or hosiery out of the RCA scenes.
Looking back at his videos and seeing how small his penis is, he really is quite harmless.
The straw that broke the camel's back for me revolves around the performance where he clearly states that he fucks 5 year olds. He also said he fucked an 8 year old the other day while her mommy was watching, getting off on it. I'm sorry, but if a company is going to produce and release material that "hardcore", that entire company should have gone to prison. The result was ....absolute silence. He went to prison on a mailing technicality.
Condoning the anal rape of 5-8 year old little girls is not cool. period.

If I go by what some people said about liking what Max does because it's different and the rest of the stuff is all the same and boring, what will happen when Max's genre becomes handily available? It too will become boring then, so what is the public going to demand for the males to do to the females so that we can get something different?
I am afraid to imagine.

It's true of any entertainment that people become bored with anything after awhile and entertainers have to come up with new and different stuff.
This is especially the case, I think, with porn, that has a very limited subject by definition. Watching someone fuck gets old FAST. If you don't believe that, wait until you're my age and recall some of what got you off 50 years ago: stuff that, by comparison with today's porn, is about as prurient as Bishop Fulton Sheen reruns on the Catholic Channel.
So there will always be Max Hardcores who, in his own words "don't just push the envelope [but] tear the envelope up." Like MH, though, they will never last -- only until the next fad comes along.
What does last and doesn't ever get old is QUALITY. In porn that means beautiful girls and good acting and plot (that's right, PLOT) and all the verities of good entertainment that have been known since Euripides.

^^^ I remeber whacking off to women in bathing suits not so long ago. No sex, no naked pictures, just good looking women in bathing suits. I used to come up with scenarios of me and those women that would really get me off. Porn has just killed my imagination and I have become lazy.
When I am not turned on by porn and my favorites scenes are not doing it for me anymore, I don't take it as an indication to watch more extreme stuff. I take it as an indication that I have been watching too much porn. So I cut back a little and come back better than ever.

One could argue that a person who requires women to be pissed on, made to vomit and subjected to relentless physical and verbal abuse in order to feel that the scene that he is watching is real and they are not faking it is somewhat desensitized and umable to respond to a more normal range of emotion and sensuality.
Then again, from what I have read I have gathered that Mr. Little's modus operandi is to defile the image of feminine beauty and "inooncence" by such things as urinating on the woman (who is initially dressed as the porn version of a stereotypical innocent little girl), forcing her to drink his urine, making her gag on his penis and vomit, smearing her face grotesquely with garish lipstick and other such antics. After dragging her through mud he humiliates her further by making her address her parents ("Are you proud of me now, Daddy?" and so on). This could be perhaps seen as a subversive dig at conventional mores. On the other hand he could be catering to suppressed anger and revenge fantasies towards women some segment of his audience might be having. And apparently the "Max Hardcore" persona is not just play-acting on his part. The British documentary shows him acting in a very nasty way "off camera". Not the kind of guy I would want to meet.

You don't have a problem with Max, but you have a problem with Rocco and think him and John Stagliano are part of a Satanic plot to turn porn viewers into pedophiles?
But Max somehow isn't part of this plot, even when he dresses grown women as children, makes them act out overt child molestation or incest scenarios (picks up girls from parks, they talk about their Daddies, etc), etc but you draw the line when they actually verbalize what the fantasy scene is clearly about?

Blacksix, nothing personal, but you seem to take what I say very far out of context. You also seem to pick and choose little pieces of what I say and spin them as a media professional would (minus the professional).
Let me be very clear. I liked a lot of what Max did. There's also a lot of stuff I didn't like. As far as a real debate on a movement within the entire media pushing pedophilia or Satanism, start a new thread and I'd be glad to debate you, or anybody on it. I will first tell you, I only have a high school education, so please go easy on me.

I agree Guam, however, Max acting the pedophile role as he brags about fucking 5 and 8 year old little girls, and distributing that product worldwide for a profit is a very slippery slope as well. I think that is a little more than just condonation when it applies to a subject as sick as that. When people see a guy making millions off fucking women and glorifying pedophilia, what does that teach the people?

^If people need porn to teach them the difference between fantasy and real life, then they're just too dumb for their own good.
Apparently not harmless enough that people don't delight in condemning him.
Exactly which performance was this? I've often heard this rumor repeated along with all the other rumors we hear about him. But I've never seen anyone point out specifically where he does this. I haven't watched every Max Hardcore movie, so it's a good possibility that I just missed it. But as of right now, I'm skeptical that it ever really happened. And even if it did, so what? If the First Amendment can protect the KKK and those Westboro protester freaks with all the disgustingly hateful things they say, then it certainly should be enough to protect Max Hardcore.
By following this train of irrational logic, every mainstream film production company which has ever released a movie depicting an underaged character being raped should also be imprisoned. If that happened, then there would be no one left in Hollywood to make movies.
You're missing the point. It's not about all porn being on the same level as what Max produced. It's simply about variety. Your argument is the same as saying that just because there are horror movies available that feature gratuitous violence and gore, that people will become bored with dramas and comedies. The difference is that just about everything in porn is the same: same setups, same dialogue, same positions, same boring porno cliches from one scene to another. I didn't watch Max Hardcore all the time, and I know I haven't seen even half of his movies. But he was good to watch when in the mood to see something different that no one else was offering. The reason that porn has become boring is not because it all needs to be extreme. Let porn keep all the vanilla stuff. But it's boring because it's now all the same with no variety in the industry at all.

To keep it on topic, you don't have a problem with him dressing women up as young girls and playacting being raped by their Dads, but if they verbalize this fantasy that's over the line?

I really don't think all porn is the same. If all porn was the same, people would not go out of their way to buy the works of some very well known directors. There are different kinds of porn out there, ask the girls who don't do anal or IR, they know something about that.
I really think that it's actually you that are missing the point that I was trying to make.
The people I was referring to said they liked Max's stuff because it was different and refreshing. The only reason for that is that not many people make that kind of porn. There just is not as many of it as the other kind of porn. Think of any genre of porn out there, there are hundreds if not thousands of people making it. When it comes to Max's genre, just a few people would dare to make something like that. This is really why some people think it's refreshing. If hundreds or thousands of people started doing what Max does, it would lose its originality, and we would be back to square one. That genre would also be blended into the large majority of genres available, resulting in the same boredom it was supposed to "cure".
Then what's next ?

Well, again, I don't wake up every morning hoping I have a chance to argue in support of Max Hardcore.
But, there is no accusation he touched someone underage. He gave some sick monolgues about enjoying pedophilia, but it was vever shown he committed any acts.
Ted Levine said he liked to make girls suits from big fat women, and that film won five Oscars.

It is true that there are some pornographers who are much better at making porn than others. When I say that porn has gotten to be all the same, what I mean is that there really isn't anyone presently making porn who can say, "I'm making the kind of movies that nobody else in the industry is making and that are highly popular among the porn-viewing audience." Max was the only one that I know of who could say that. There was a time as recently as a few years ago when there were people like Max, Khan, Extreme Associates, etc., who were catering to the audience of people who desired to see something outside of the ordinary sex scene set-up. However, considering that these people all came to be persecuted by opposing forces which put them out of business, it makes it hard to believe that this is 21st-century U.S.A. With these pornographic niches all absent, there has since been a void left in the porn that no one will fill due to fear of also becoming an open target of persecution. For this reason, I'm almost afraid to see how even more stale and uninteresting porn will become if the Stagliano case doesn't turn out well. As if porn isn't already afraid to step outside the box, it will only get worse as prosecutions against porn become more prevalent and victorious.
As for Max's type of movies losing its originality if everyone started making them, I disagree. First, I'm not saying that everyone should start making them. But it would be nice if atleast someone was. But you're right that there are few people who would dare to do it for the reasons I've already stated. But it still wouldn't lose its originality. What happens when you have everyone in porn making anal movies? Or gangbang movies? Or facials? Or swallowing? Almost everyone in the industry is already making movies that feature these acts. But have people tired of watching these acts yet? Of course not. If more pornographers felt free to make the type of porn Max was making, it wouldn't make the product less original or interesting to watch. It would only make it more readily available to people who would like to see it, no different than any other popular porn niche that's common in the porn market.

^^^ With all due respect Realtip, I think we are getting a bit off track here. My post that you quoted was referring to people who like Max because the other kind of porn was getting boring, not people who liked it from the first day they started watching porn. And the task of analysing why they might like Max is something that I think is beyond my understanding, so I won't try.

I am not really sure were you want to go with this comment...
Do you mean that Stagliano is part of a conspiracy as a Rosicrucian himself or that he tries to appear as one in case he would be prosecuted and 'the establishment', as part of a conspiracy, will believe he is part of it too?
Anyway Rosicrusian derives from the surname of ther founder Rosenkreutz. That's german for 'Rosecross', and their symbol is in consequence a rose AND a cross.
The rose however is a symbol for the Social Democratic Parties internationally. I know that this political movement is considered 'far, far left' in the US, even if it in Europe it is considered quite 'middle of the road'. I doubt Stagliano choose the rose because it would get him fewer prosecutions!

Not meaning to intrude on the thread but I received a letter from Max today.

(On the back of the pic he wrote: WE’RE ROCKIN’ IN THE OLD CELL BLOCK!)
I received a letter from Max Hardcore today. He is serving his 46 month sentence here if you would like to write to him:
Paul F. Little 44902-112
La Tuna Federal Correctional Institute
Post Office Box 3000
Anthony, New Mexico
88021-9897
– His envelope had a message taped to the back of the envelope: CELEBRATING INDOMITABLE SPIRIT.
– La Tuna FCI is a medium/low security facility located on the borders of New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico. It’s outside of El Paso and across from Juarez. He says it’s a big improvement over his last place of confinement in Los Angeles.
– He is enjoying the use of a huge recreation yard and has been working out consistently since his incarceration. He says he is in the best shape of his life. He quit smoking and drinking and now feels great.
– He’s in good spirits and is focused on re-energizing himself for the future.
– He is looking forward to attending future conventions and industry events.
– He is concerned about obscenity laws, their interpretation, and the administration of justice with respect to the adult industry. He notes that the prosecutor asked for a 12 year sentence in his case.
– He feels fortunate to be alive and takes nothing for granted. He says his best days lie ahead.

I'm sure he's right, that having seen how fragile liberty is, he will appreciate it when it is restored to him more than he ever has.
My own curiosity is whether he will ever appreciate how wrong he was in demeaning women and sex; how sorry he will be that he ever created the persona of Max Hardcore.
The cynicism of my age tells me that he will become what he was: a complacent, though more cautious pornographer, playing to what he knows, because it is what he is, the sickest of men with the lowest of appetites for brutality and hatred of what they cannot understand.
But I could be wrong. Experience has, before this, changed men's minds, and it is possible that Paul Little will emerge from his ordeal as a better person, and a valuable asset with a unigue shared understanding of the misogynist that he will use not to degrade women, but to exalt them as equal partners in our mutual struggle for happiness and meaning.

personally i dont think max did anything wrong and that his porn is some of the best of all time. I don't feel that he will change when he comes out of prison at all and i hope he doesnt.
I just hope that he continues to make porn of the quality which he has done for many years.
And dreyfeuss what is wrong with the degradation of women as long as it is consenual.
If a girl wants to be called a whore and pissed on agrees to do it for an amount of money i see nothing wrong about it all.

I've no wish to repeat what I've already written at length in this thread, but, basically, nothing's wrong with any kind of mutually consusual sex play. Fantasies and role playing are an integral part of enjoying sex.
I also agree that Little's prosecution and imprisonment was an injustice.
My issue with Max Hardcore is that he knowingly pandered to an extreme misogynist audience for whom violence against women is not a fantasy, but a requirement of sex, for whom sex is not a mutual pleasure but an act of degradation and an expression of contempt for women.
Though certainly the girls in his movies had to consent to appear in them, their portrayals are of girls who are disgusted, humiliated, and forced against their will; raped, if you like.
It may seem a small distinction in comparison with other movies in the 'rough sex' genre, but an essential element of MUTUAL enjoyment is missing in MH that is the difference between sexual fantasy and just plain violence and rape.
That absence of mutuality is what makes Max Hardcore more than an aid in enjoying a sexual fantasy. That absence of mutual enjoyment, that portrayal not of two lovers but of a male who is clearly a predator and a girl who is nothing but a victim, a piece of meat, makes MH an inciter of misogynists for whom the goal is NOT fantasy, but the ACTUAL harming of women.
Little's movies have their defenders, I know. This thread preserves their defense of him as well as my own and others' complaints with his work. Of course, it's improbable that anyone's mind was changed by this thread, and I'm sure yours won't be either, but I think it's an informative discussion and worth looking over.

Brandon can you ask him about the Rothschilds and their role in his imprisonment?

^ You know an awful lot about that stuff for someone who doesn't believe any of it.
Hell, I'm always halfway inclined to listen to the more interesting conspiracy theories but then, that's because I tend to believe there really are at least a few bad people in the power structure of the world (I mean, it just makes sense that there would have to be and would be weird if there weren't). You apparently believe they're all perfect angels so why do you know the plot line to every conspiracy theory on the planet?

^ I love reading about marginal belief systems and cults, whether that be Mormons, Icke-ians, Scientology, Aum Shinriyko, Gnosticism. The ol' Rothschilds canard is an anti-semitic classic that the Nazis were fond of throwing around, they even made a feature film based on that conspiracy theory. They were also big believers in the Freemasons conspiracy theory.
I do agree that there are some bad people running things, but I don't think they have any need to keep it a secret as they have a lot of dough and most of the power, they can do it openly and be re-elected with few problems, as has been handily proved in the US in recent history.

I'd have never figured you for a masochist but you must be. All I know about the Mormons is that I called and ordered The Book Of Mormon one time when it was on TV for "free" (out of curiosity) and they showed up at my door to deliver it personally. Because I was polite and befuddled, I let them in and spent several weeks trying to figure out how to tell them to stop coming to my house. When I finally got rid of them, I was no longer interested in reading the book.
Maybe in about 20 years, I'll have assembled enough bits and pieces of Icke's theories to know exactly what he's talking about (I usually can't read more than a few paragraphs before my mind starts to drift).
