PornDirector Member 14 Posts 9/13	Posted - Sep 5 2013 : 10:33PM Create a website platform where people can upload an individual porn scene and charge $1.99 or $2 to download the entire thing. 10% goes towards bandwidth/maintenance 10% goes towards profit ---- 20% $2 - 20% = $1.60 back to the uploader per scene. Considering the average porno DVD has around 5-6 scenes on it, that comes out to around the same profit on an actual porno DVD if not more. 5 x $1.60 = $8 profit to uploader. Hard to beat that profit margin with DVD sales. That then gives pornstars more control to release more exclusive content to make a fortune. Over time major distributors can put their entire catalogue on there and sell scenes individually. People hurting for cash around the world could have an easy distribution outlet to possibly make a little side money. You'd see lots of great amateur porn on there. Someone who is a big fan of a certain pornstar, can buy and own 20 of her top scenes for $40. Thoughts? [mod edit: fixed ALL CAPS subject line. In exchanged they could be an equity investor in the companies launch. Over time you can IPO it like Playboy and everyone could become millionaires. Click to expand I know the equation he used, but I'm asking how does he know that is the actual profit on a porno DVD, since he specifically states that is their profit. Anyone can come up with an "equation of profit" but there is no backing for any factual truth behind it. If VOD sites can offer customers unlimited downloads for ~$15-35 per month, surely the arithmetic of $2 per scene can be made to work. [Link]

I know that most of them offer a similar kind of offer but it's for a single movie and it's usually quite smaller than 35$ [Link]

My larger point is to compare the pricing of those sites offering unlimited downloads, selected from thousands and thousands of scenes, for a flat fee. Compared to that business model, $2 per scene is more revenue per scene. Therefore it seems on the surface that $2 per scene should be very doable. [Link]

You can still stream the content but you normally join those to download and save. [Link]

Kind of like how IMDb and Amazon has user created lists. Top 50 anal scenes lists, etc. Those could drive a ton of sales. You could even work in an affiliate thing where if an affiliate drives a sell, they get 10%-20%, whatever your profit margin allows on the website. That way, Adult DVD Talk reviewers could actually go through their massive collection, search on the $2 per scene porn download site for those scenes and create their list. Astroknight's Top 100 scenes list Den's Top 100 scenes list bono-one's Top 100 scenes list Companies in general could even get on there. AdultDVDTalk's top 100 scenes based on user reviews. People could create lists on their favorite pornstars top lists, ranking them from 1-20 or something. It's definitely a million dollar if not billion dollar idea. Especially if you list out how many paid downloads particular scenes get. If a scene gets 30,000 paid downloads, people are more likely to go ahead and purchase it as well.
