Your statement may be largely true. But why would ex-porn performers WANT to become "porn biz cheerleaders" and why is this necessarily an indication of anything? I don't recall ever hearing an ex-shoe salesman defending his former profession or an ex- plumber touting the joys of installing drains. That doesn't make those bad jobs or them bad people. Why should it for porn actors?
I know, I know. Performing in porn is different because it IS sex for money and Americans in particular assume that is immoral, degrading and just plain bad. So which is wrong -- sex for money, or our attitude about sex for money? I say its the attitude, not the job.
In much of Europe, the attitude toward sex for pay is, in many ways, VERY different than it is here. While sex workers are not exactly admired or respected greatly, there isn't that automatic contempt that is so in evidence in this thread, and "crossing over" to other professions is apparently no problem. Porn stars in other countries have become influential social workers (Holland), politicians (Italy) and children's show hosts (Brazil, I think).
Ms. Flame's ,nee Ketcham's, view of porn performing is to be respected, as she is to be for rising out of her own adversity. She is articulate, intelligent, and, BTW, a fine painter. Be at least as careful as SHE is about giving her too much right to judge anybody's actions but her own:
Note that her own problems with doing porn center around what OTHERS thought of her, not because SHE was affected by it, but because her family was:
And the notion that porn girls are required to have broken dysfunctioal or abusive families seems not to be the case:
What parent DOESN'T believe that their kid could do better, and WOULDN'T lament that she was in work that carried such a burden of public misunderstanding and disapproval. Don't you suppose they might have the SAME reaction to any dangerous or less respected job?
Finally, note that when she says:
She is presuming, for the first and only time in her writing that her own specific result of doing porn will be eveybody's. Plainly it is not. Far from EVERY porn star ends up in therapy for sexual dysfunction, and manay stars who end up as producers/directors or successes in other businesses clearly found their work in porn very empowering in advancing a career.
I would never suggest that porn work IS a respectable profession. But by God why shouldn't it be? WE certainly find it to be a useful, valuable, worthwhile, and necessary service. What else is required of any respectable way to earn one's keep?

^duefuss,
I have been a fan of her's almost from the time she first got in the biz. But it was her various blogs, and yes her paintings as well, that attracted me more then her performances, and boy she had some hot ones.
Yes her parents love her, but her mother is an alcoholic and her father is a recovering one. Both her father and mother divorced. She was estranged from her father until last year. At the age of 13 she decided to fuck every boy in her class. and did.
I think that she would say that porn was not responsible for her issues, but that she brought them to porn.
In her various writings and interviews, that I have read or seen, she has never been "anti-porn". She apparently stays in contact with her porn friends, both retired or still active.
She has spent her days after porn dealing with her various addictions (pot, booze and sex), as well working on her future.
I recommend that anyone interested in what she has to say, that they stop by her blog (www.becomingjennie.com). One should go back to her very first entries, written around the time of her experiences with Dr. Drew and move forward from there.

Having read Jenny/Penny's blog, I have newfound respect for her. Honestly, I didn't see much of her porn work, but did see her on the 'Celebrity Rehab' show. She comes off as an interesting chick.

Jenny found a new field of acting. Now she plays the ex-pornstar role. That has been done by Shelley Lubben, but Jenny is a smarter actress.

I think she would too.
It's logical I think to assume that porn would draw many troubled girls, just as it is illogical to presume that ALL of them MUST be troubled.
Here again, the fact that porn work carries the stigma that it does perhaps precludes many from getting into it who otherwise might. My position is that the stigma is an artificial and unnecessary one borne of hypocrisy and self-dishonesty. Proof of that I think is the fact I mentioned of the greater acceptance of the sex trades in much of the world.

Read her blog for a bit and you will see that she is ANYTHING BUT the converted whore type that Lubben is, who presumes that her own experience in porn is the only one possible and that her opinion is fact (as you are doing in this case). She neither preaches nor pontificates about porn and, indeed supports its continued existence. The only "role" she is playing is that of a painter/artist, and if you look at her work you will see that she's playing that role VERY well indeed.
Edit eliminated CD's response, which this post neither addresses nor disagrees with.

I really don't see that I am the one beating the dead horse. Rather, I am the one, I thought, that let it die, when I did not bother to point out that the last time this came up you had NO ANSWER to any of my response but:
Most thoughtful of my reputation, no doubt, but hardly relevant to anything I said. For example, what is your reply to my observation that:
prompted you may remember by the splendid response of Miss Beau's
(If there's ever a "Best of ADT" that HAS to be at the very top!) and YOUR response, which was:
Why do I keep comparing porn actors to "Plumbers, shoe salesmen, Drs., Lawyers, Burger King counter help, Astronauts, and just about every other profession "? Because it too, is a profession, a job, what people do to make a living that requires a defined set of skillsthat they have , and/or willingness to accept defined risks that they accept in return for agreed compensation . It's not a hobby. Its not a punishment. It's certainly not charity work, is it?
What, may I ask, do YOU call it? Here, in this thread, you and others have implied that it was a shame, a symptom of poor upbringing, abuse, and sexual promiscuity. And when someone IN THE PROFESSION explained, simply, that, for her, it was none of those things, did you correct her error? Did you scold her for lying and obscuring that she was really a shameful stupid slut? No, you simply dismissed her with
In other words "she doesn't count."( I assume it's okay if I put words in YOUR mouth, since at one point you asked me questions, said
and did so).
Porn is valuable to many people, performing a service that may not be on a par, for YOU with other services like medicine or law or woodcraft or computer building, but which, nevertheless, UNDENIABLY provides SOMETHING we and you, since you're here, use and enjoy.
Many of us admire, envy and even venerate entertainment and sports stars who do nothing more than provide enjoyment and entertainment, and they don't even get us off (do they?). They are STARS. They are even SPORTS HEROES. But porn actors, because they are 'in it for the money' become sluts and whores. Because they do for pay what they do naked, and since they do what the director tells them to do (because he thinks it will arouse US, the paying customers), THEY are skanks and bitches and whores.
What they are really are young beautiful girls trying to earn some good money from being young beautiful girls. Who suggested they do that? WE did. We saw porn and we liked it and wanted more porn and better porn and flocked to the theaters and the peep shows and made VCRs a necessity in the home and all the rest. And when these girls presume to try for their share of OUR money and OUR approval of their beauty ( as in "Sasha Grey, an appreciation thread") what do YOU say about it?
As if doing what gets us excited and gets us off has no value, deserves no praise nor any respect. Sex is dirty. Sex is base. Having sex for money makes you a whore, a slut, a bitch, a skank, a sick and damaged human being. Having sex for others to enjoy watching isn't a profession. It's a . . .what?
What IS it? You've never said. All you said was that I was embarassing myself.
So it's EMBARRASSING to respect these girls; to thank them, as I have here and many many times to myself, for doing what they do as well as some of them do it for whatever motive? It's embarrassing to respect them for the skill to seem aroused and excited and passionate and, yes, in love, while doing something similar, in fact, to
Listen, Bub, that's better acting, done well, than Olivier or Marlon Fucking Brando ever thought they could do.
Well, I'm not one fucking bit embarrassed. I'm fucking grateful to these girls, and I am IN AWE of the talent and skill and hard work it must take to look beautiful, to seem aroused, to be anxious to please US, no matter what it is we want them to do.
When you are naked and having sex and, perhaps, ejaculating on some girl that is where she is because she, at least, likes you, are YOU then the equivalent of a whore, a bitch, a shame that deserves no respect? Is she? If not, why? Because there is no camera? Because no one is being paid?
That only makes what you are doing voluntary and what they are doing a job. In your mind, that's enough difference to call them dysfunctional whores and yourself and your girlfriend lovers.
How'd it be if someone filmed you having sex, with cameras and lights and some bozo telling you to move so he could see your dick? Sexy, huh? Be easy to cum on cue, right? and you're SO? Bet she'd stay all hot and horny and alluring as hell with a camera lens in her face and the bozo saying "moan louder honey, and try to act like you're enjoying it." You don't think that's work? You don't think that's skill?
As I said:
And I repeat, for someone who :
you certainly seem bothered by my 'point'.
What is that point? It is simply that you should value what gives you pleasure and respect the skill, work, talent, and beauty that succeeds in giving you that pleasure, regardless of what that pleasure is, what others may think of it, or why those who do it are willing to.
I also like to think my point is that it's mean spirited, bigoted, hypocritical conceited and foolish to presume that anyone is entitled to less respect and decent regard than you would give to yourself for doing a job to make a living, especially one that harms no one and brings pleasure to many.
And I am embarrassing myself. And you, who say to me that these girls are not the equal of other working people, not to be compared with others who do a job for pay, you, who, when challenged to tell that opinion to THEM, sputter indignantly that you aren't talking to THEM, and have no quarrel with THEM: you AREN'T embarrassed? Why not?
You're a customer, and these girls won't say this because you are, or perhaps because girls are nice people mostly, or just don't give a shit what you say (like I shouldn't) but I'LL say it. You're a hypocrite who has admitted he is one and doesn't even know it. You're a bully who orders me to
and a coward who, instead of even trying to defend his asinine prejudice, tells me I'm embarrassing myself and refuses to tell people to their faces (figuratively of course) that they are not respectable people.
And if I'm breaking the rules of decorum here, that's too bad. At least I broke them for a good cause.
P.S. -- The U.S.A is not the rest of the world, but it IS part of the world, last time I looked. And the rest of the world seems to be inhabited by people, just like we are, some of whom think sex work ISN'T at all degrading, and they've thought so for just years and years and, well, they seem to be doing just fine. So I suppose they are all bitches and whores and emotionally disturbed too?

Blah blah blah. I'm make it short and sweet for you as I never feel the need to say something in 1000 words when I can say it 100 words.
1. Don't let the thread where a few people think you're a great writer go to your head as you become much more verbose than you usually are.
2. Secondly, we're in the US, the greatest country in the world, where the majority of the people in the world who decide to immigrate to another country for a better life immigrate to. They don't go to some two bit nation such as Denmark. Denmark is a small country and what works for them doesn't work for us, just like what works in China wouldn't fly here.
3. You ARE embarrassing yourself constantly wanting to put porn stars on the same plane as Drs, Lawyers, and any other highly educated profession. While not being insulting to any person at all; like you're trying to make me sound. Porn performers are unique in their own special way but their profession while never be on the same level as a normal job, because the women in our society won't let it and will never let it happen.
They day the job title of "Porn Star" is a respected profession is the day it will be acceptable to ask any female in any job at anytime the following questions:
A: So, when are you going to be doing an I/R blowbang?
B: You going to be doing anal anytime soon?
C: Are those tits real?
D: Are you up for swallowing a cumfart?
Guess what? It's not going to happen. Just try and ask one of those questions at work and see how quickly you're down in HR getting terminated.

Your contempt for these girls has been plain from the very start. That it is beyond the reach of reason to change was also clear. That you have been foolish enough to expose it on this particular forum really makes me question your emotional stability, let alone your sense.
Your notion that respecting sex workers would entitle one to sexually harrass anybody they wished is absolute nonsense. As respect for women and the acceptance of sex as a healthy part of human relationships has grown, the kind of crude behavior you warn against has diminished, not increased, and is, as you imply, now totally unacceptable in the workplace.
Years ago, when women were generally thought to be the kind of weak morally fragile creatures you now suppose porn girls to be, sexual harrassment in the workplace made your little scenario of a few crude questions, which you imagine to be so horrifyingly impossible, tame. Back then, women were ROUTINELY propositioned, groped, extorted to have sex to keep their jobs and raped with impunity, and if they made the mistake of complaining, they were presumed not to be the victims of harrassment but its perpetrators! Accusing a man of rape or even unwanted sexual advances was the surest way for a woman to get an instant reputation as a slut. Many posters here respect and value these girls as I do and I wager that NONE of them would be crass or stupid enough to think it was okay to ask a woman, in public, if she's going to do anal. Even in societies of the past bad manners and stupidity have never been tolerated.
The US has, indeed been the country people wanted to come to, but you neglect to mention why. It isn't because we look down on sex workers ("You must go to America my son. There you can persecute whores and look down on porn stars.") Quite the reverse. They came here because here they were free to try, to aspire to any level of prosperity or power and influence they could reach in a nation full of resources, where they could live and believe as they chose safely without fear. They thought this was a place where they would matter, where they would be valued and respected for their skills and talents, and contributions to society not, as where many of them came from, for who their parents were or how much wealth they inherited.
Ironically, you spout patriotism for a nation founded on ideas that completely contradict your notion that a person is to be judged by how he makes his living. Those two bit countries of yours are more reasonable in their acceptance of sex precisely BECAUSE they admired America's Democratic ideals of equality and liberty but lacked our Purtan contempt, and yours too, apparently, for sex. Your view coincides with the notion that sex is dirty, bestial, and corrupting, that sex is, in a word, wrong, a sin--- when women do it, anyway.
Keep your quaint and silly notions, your hypocrisy and sanctimoniousness. Sex is fun and necessary and worthwhile and so are sex workers and porn stars, and I expect I've been a lot more comfortable with that attitude than you are destined to be with yours.

Okay, six paragraphs and six short responses:
1. No comtempt at all, I sing the praises of the girls all the times, read my reviews. And you questioning my emotional state? When do become a Psychologist?
2. It's not my notion, its yours that all professions are created equal, sex workers get asked those questions all the time, just read half the threads on the site. Just check out the Katie, Andi Anderson, or Zoe Voss threads.
3. Years ago? Get in the now, it's 2010.
4. The US is the greatest country as you agree with me, thanks.
5. What country do you live in? Of course a person is judged by how is makes his living, just like they way they are judged by the crowd they keep? When have I ever said I had a puritan ideal. My girlfriend and I swing,. And yes sex is dirty, nasty, sleazy, sloppy and fun. You've obviously never read anything I've posted. I've never said it was wrong. I just don't know how you draw that conclusion.
6. When are you going to give us all the great and healthy reasons girls do porn?

back to the topic, I've watched her scene with Brian Pumper twice. She has a gorgeous face and a very nice body. Don't know what those buttcheek blemishes are; they are not attractive. She spends a lot of time spreading her ass with her hands and it looks great! She has her fingertips either side of and very close to her asshole. If you enjoy extended shots of a pretty young lady and her delectable asshole, this is for you!

Guys, when it comes down to it, it's ALWAYS about the pay, no matter what the job or what bullshit people tell you. What you're missing is that everyone has a "Holy shit, they'll pay me for this" moment. Look at ANY job, and ask if they'd do it for free. Even jobs in religious orders have a payoff.
Now, that's JUST for the career people. Why do people like her or Paris or other worthless celebutantes get a porn movie out? Because it's a quick way to get into the public eye. They forget that the most common belief about girls who make porno movies, even ones at home, is "Hey, that's a dumb, dirty slut!" and that it takes a lot to work past that. No one minds it when the girl is just a porn girl, but if she wants to move beyond that, she damn well better have something else to offer.
That said, some women do porn just because they like the fucking AND they can get paid doing it, like Nina Hartley. Some, like Sasha Grey, see it as a way to earn cash before running off to do something else and they know that if they stick to the art world, no one will give a damn because artists are mostly depraved anyway (I'm kind of in that boat). Sure, there's some that do it to earn money for a drug habit (met that girl, our mutual agent at the time threw her into rehab and I don't thing she ever worked). There are also girls who do it to get back at someone (met that girl too, and she doesn't work much by choice because she doesn't want revenge THAT bad), but in the long run, the girls that are just doing it because of a drug habit or emotional baggage are NOT going to last long. That kind of person is already more likely to flake on shoots, be a preoccupied (i.e. shitty) performer, and walk away from anything that causes emotional stress.
Just my 2 cents on a topic that feels like a dead horse that's been run down by a mack truck...

To Ms. Beau:
I hope you realize that I'm going to take a lot of heat for this: accusations that I'm just sucking up to a porn star and what have you, but this is the only reasonable avenue of communication for this, so here goes.
I am a 65 year old former special education teacher and English Major retread who's been in love with literature (and porn) for 50 years and more. What porn needs is an articulate knowledgeable perspective on the business from the inside, as a GIRL in the business sees it: not propaganda for the porn industry or for the author's own ego and career advancement, but a simple straightforward report on being a porn star. I believe that an intelligent, articulate, witty and unvarnished account of being in porn would gain a huge audience.
Quite apart from anything such a candid and well written book might do to change views like RF's, it would be a damn fine read and potentially, I think a best seller.
Based on what you've written in this forum, I think you hsve the intelligence, literary skill and certainly the wisdom and humor to write such an account. I, for one, would love to read it. It very well might serve YOU well to write it.
I hope you will think about this as an idea at least worth a try. Remember that I'm just an old fart with nothing to gain by telling you anything, but who has read, studied and loved literature of all kinds for a long time. I know good writing when I see it. And in all your posts, I DO most definitely see it.
If you'd like to give it a try, write a 'chapter,' some experience or thoughts on being in the business and send it to a literary agent or publisher along with the idea for the book it would become(an agent's better these days). See what they think, but don't get discouraged. If often takes sheer luck just to get those guys to look at something, but, once they do, I'm convinced they will see in your writing what I do: the kind of freshness, humor, and wonderful phrasing that grabs attention and keeps it.

I know I'm late to this thread. But I just heard about this recently on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. The only thing I can say is that my sympathy goes out to Lawrence Fishburne. This has to be completely humiliating for him. I just have to wonder, What in the world could her father have done to her to make her want to hurt and humiliate him this way? My parents have done plenty of things to upset me, but I don't think I could ever do anything this bad to get back at them. Again, I just feel really bad for Lawrence Fishburne right now.
Here is a radio interview with Jamie Foxx where they discuss Montana Fishburne and Brian Pumper, and Jamie says he would "literally exterminate" his daughter if she were to do such a thing. I have to agree with him.

Why would someone care so much if their daughter does porn? People need to get over being such squares. If my daughter did porn, I would just make sure that she was not being taken advantage of in any way. Since she would most likely be hot, I'd probably watch it.

He may have done nothing at all. There are behavior disorders whose cause remains dimly understood or not at all, in which children are pathologically oppositional and defiant of any authority. Like other behavior problems, the much overdiagnosed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, and a host of others, these behavior problems are no more the fault of parenting than CP or the kid's eye color. Some of the finest most loving parents I've known were the anquished parents of such children.
That said, if you would disown your own child because of bad behavior, regardless of its source, you're not a parent at all. You're a fucking sperm donor that insults the name 'parent' who could be replaced by an ordinary specimen cup.
Ask any parent worthy of that title if it's EVER easy to bring up another human being. The best kids in the world naturally go though stages of defiance and risky behavior, and if you are going to throw the kid away at the first sign of difficulty, it's probably because you never wanted the little bastard in the first place, and you've been just waiting for the excuse to throw him over a cliff.
Jamie Foxx is a pompous conceited self absorbed stupid little shit if he thinks his dignity is worth exterminating anybody.

Montana Fishburne is .......wow...I can't even think of a word right now. She is basing her jump into porn and a jumpstart for her career based on the actions of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian?! Are you kidding me? She is a dummy! Yeah I said it. Not only did she jump into porn for that and what I suspect was to get back at her father, she also started off in the business with the worst person and Pariah of the adult biz, Brian Pumper. LMFAO! Not only is she dumb, I am guessing this move will actually work against her because of her status and what she is doing.
I am also thinking that she is trying to take an easy way because she thought daddy was going to just hand her everything on a silver platter and he didn't. So instead of working for it she decided to do porn........with Pumper.

In some cases, it's not about the parent disowning the child, but the child disowning the parent. When an adult child decides to pursue actions that she knows will bring the parent public humiliation and anguish, then sometimes the parent is left with no other resort than to completely cut the child off in order to preserve what's left of his own sanity. It reminds me of that line in Fiddler On the Roof when Tevye is debating whether or not to accept his daughter and he says, "If I try to bend that far, I'll break."
What exactly do you have against Brian Pumper?

^Uh...besides him faking tests and putting people's lives at risk?! Nothin much, since I don't really know the guy. I know that quite a few industry people don't like him as well. The few times I have seen him he.....I just didn't really like him, I'll just say that.

We can at the moment put aside this last story that he has disowned her, as we have no reason to trust the source.
Whatever was said was spoken under extreme stress with generous helpings of anger, guilt, betrayal and emotion. That this child of divorced parents and the daughter of a very rich and an accomplished Hollywood actor very likely had little chance but to grow up to be a very tragic person.
Hopefully as time goes on the will be able to forgive each other.

Angered or worried parents, particularly fathers, often resort to extreme responses to children who do things that seem dangerous to them. Just as often, their bark is worse than their bite. I expect Mr. F. and his daughter will eventually reconcile, but that is of course by no means certain.

Just to completely beat this topic into the ground. I don't know what's silly about my comment, of "other than Clayra's." What I'm saying by that is, we've all accepted her idea that it's all about the cash. I say that because you posted the following quote:
"I think there can be "healthy reasons" for doing porn, in the sense that girls do not need to be "damaged" in some way to become porn actresses. Whether most of them are I have no idea, though I expect not."
and I say, moving past Clayra's assertion, what are the healthy reasons?

Just got in not long agao and happened to turn on the TV a few moments ago just in time to see Larry Fishburne presenting an award on the Emmy Awards tonight. I was surprised to see him on the stage. I only caught the end of it though. Did anybody happen to catch whether or not anybody made any jokes at his, or his daughter's, expense?

This story has very little in the way of legs in the mainstream. I have not heard much about it in jokes from Jay or Dave. I didn't see anything about it on the VMAs last night either. Chelsea Handler and Jimmy Kimmel have probably done a few jokes on her, but I haven't heard anything.
I think this is for two reasons: 1) Laurence Fishburne is a respected actor (He does Shakespeare for God's sake! SHAKESPEARE! ) and is also very private. You don't see him on many interview shows, or out at the clubs, or the trendy restaurants an all that crap. I wager that if you asked anyone a month ago about how many children he has, people would have said "he has children?".
Now contrast that to Kathy Lee Gifford and the shitstorm she had to go through a few years ago when it turned out her husband was having an affair. That went badly for her because she was always chatting up her family life and kids on her show, and it came back to bite her in the ass. And then there was Lynn Spears, Britney's mom, who had to cancel the parenting book she was about to release when her other daughter, 16-year-old Jamie Lynn announced [i ]she was pregnant.
2) Montana has been so - 'scuse the pun - naked in her motivations for doing in a sex tape that nobody feels obliged to give her that much attention. She was an absolute non-entity in showbiz before now, so it's like who cares?
Hell, it's been two weeks since anyone posted on this subject and we're a porn forum!

UPDATE:
Now this story is credited to "unknown sources" so who knows for certain if its true. If it is, let's face it, this "porn career" of hers has its roots in mental hardships, just as many on this board theorized.

Well, if she acquires her own reality show, then she's officially A CELEBRITY!
Well-played, Ms. Fishburne. Well-played.

She doesn't need anything else to be a celebrity. She was already one with her name recognition. If Bristol palin can be on Dancing with the stars then clearly anyone that has appeared on TV is now a celebrity.
