Before you pick anything up I'd suggest you have a good conversation with your wife. Some couples don't talk about sexual fantasies, turn-ons (kissing), turn-offs (facials) or what they want out of a porn movie (hardon and wet pussy vs foreplay).

If you set the proper mood for your talk the intimacy and nervous sexual energy will be more exciting and liberating than watching a movie. You both will have to fight through your own personal shyness and embarrassment, we did. (he said "I like anal fisting movies and cum shot compilations" she said "ohhh...")

The porn world caters to men but if she has a common sexual fantasy maybe there's a movie out there for her? Based on her turn-ons maybe she'd be into a type of porn you didn't think she'd like (S&M, voyeurism, interracial, anal, bisexual, swinging, other fetish?)

Your wife may be different but mine is more into the story and needs attractive people that don't turn her off. She gets more turned on from watching kissing and oral than penetration. Perhaps find a good index of porn star pictures (anyone?) to show your wife so you can get a feeling for what she likes in both men and women.

Unfortunately I don't have a movie I'd suggest, I don't rent porn as much as I should. But from my limited experience there is lots of room for improvement in the quality acting and stories. I find softcore movies generally more compelling and erotic than regular porn, problem being it's softcore and the 'sex' scenes are utter crap.

The art of making a great erotic movie has turned into a black magic, simply filming a blowjob or reverse cowboy anal is not eroticism but pornography.

From what I've seen porn film makers fail to draw the viewer into the story, if they did they'd sell a lot more couples movies. Instead they focus more on the physical act.

To answer my own question, I think Nic Andrews does about as good a job as possible with his Dark Angels. I haven’t seen any of his other stuff, so I can’t comment on it, but I think Dark Angels might be a good DVD recommendation in this case. Another suggestion might be to seek out titles that are heavy on humor. I think maybe the caring for a character thing develops faster if the character is funny as opposed to say, introspective. No DVD titles come to mind, but a couple of movie titles I wouldn’t hesitate to show a new female viewer would be Debbie Duz Dishes and Genital Hospital.

I do remember an old soft core series called Paris Nights (?) that I found pretty good. But that was a long time ago, I was a lot more naive back then.

What I'm looking for is nothing new. Companies are trying to do it, even in gonzo with the interviews, preamble and such. But there's always something missing. Whether it's chemistry, beauty, attitude, quality of acting, writing or directing there's always a few things that can be a lot better.

We should be watching instead of being shown... if that makes sense to you. As in "Today we're going to watch these people get it on" instead of "Hi, I'm Bobbie from Colorado and today I'm here to get my ass fucked"

They produced a fair amount of good porn in the 70s and 80s but it's pretty dated for looks, grooming, picture quality, etc. The stories and the attempt to tell them was better on average and there's something to be learned by going back and watching them.

I do think it would be easier and cheaper if the 'movie' was a series of vignettes instead of a full blown epic feature. Six 30 minute scenes, 10-15 minutes of build up, 15-20 minutes of sex.

As far as Five Star and Lasers Edge, I hope by the end of next week we'll be able to count them amoung our retailers. If not, there are at least 4 dozen other places you can buy the film online, with more to come. We'll have a complete where to buy page on the redesign of the Comstock Films website, which will be up before too long.

Just to keep things on topic, Violet Blue is a great resource for women interested in porn. Violet is passionately committed to finding hardcore porn that women won't find silly, or stupid or rude. She likes comeshots and facials and assfucking, but she hates stupid or ugly porn. Her site is a great starting point for a woman or couple that want to find raunchy and raw smut that they can actually enjoy.

Now lest DB smite me for derailing the thread:

A title you might like that rarely gets mentioned is Phantom Love.
It's got a simple fun plot that the performers make work quite well.
The sex is very very nice and quite varied. It's about as far from rough robotic gonzo as you'll get in hardcore porn without going for amateur productions.
Quite 80's really. Which as far as porn goes I consider a compliment.
I can't understand why it gets so little notice. It's one of my favourites.

Does you wife like SciFi/Fantasy movies?
If she can watch Star Trek without cracking up or shaking her head at the wafer thin plots Space Nuts should be perfectly acceptable. The sex scenes are good and the plot manages to take the piss of several SF movies while being genuinely funny in it's own right.

Hercules is also quite funny but it does get a little too long winded at times. The sex scenes are good if a little far apart.

If amateur is acceptable Pixies Emporium have some nice titles. Check Astroknight's reviews

You're right, there are some Private movies that are a bit cold and too Euro, but that happens with every studio's work. It's all hit and miss.

What we get is what we like to do... I like to think of it as the "warm up" before the game... I usually watch more while he showers to get started and then by the time he gets into the movie and gets ready to rock and roll I'm already waiting... if you know what you each like and if there are limits then you know what to get or not to get...I find most of the "couples movies" flat out boring... if we are heavy into oral sex that night/weekend/week etc... he wants to see her get him hard and come and I want to see him do the same for her... if we are into just fucking then we both like couples in movies that like to find all kinds of positions to do it hard and deep and do it right... maybe you need to get tuned into her do's and don't and likes and dislikes first and take it from there ! I tend to be the oversexed one and the one into the erotic and "try me" stuff as as long as I'm not too outrageous in the introduction he is more than happy to go along with what I want or suggest...
