Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 Posted - May 8 2005 : 12:51PM I apologize. I lost all of your mail while trying to upgrade the mail server software last night. I do have a backup of the emails but it's in a format that I'm not familiar with. I'll need to write a program to extract the email contents from the backup which will take me a couple days.
These archived emails will need to be resent to you. There's no way for me to insert them back into your account. The program I write will take these old emails and send them to you again.
If you are/were a my.adultdvdtalk.com mail user and you would like me to resend your emails please sign up again and write to me at drew@adultdvdtalk.com. Please sign up with the same email address you used prior to the crash. (If you really want to change addresses we may be able to accommodate that.)

Your sign up again link has a misspelled word in it and doesn't work. No worries.
Sorry to make you work harder Drew.

Thank Drew!Redish, the big link didn't work for me either. If I used the alternate link and then pasted the code into it then it worked.

I'm looking into this registration key problem. I think that one of the Perl modules on my server is not up to date.I manually validated your account.
On a different note, I have started sending archived emails to those that have requested them.

Oh my god, I just about had a heart attack. In the past two days I've gotten a dozen or so emails from people saying "I think I might have a bad disc" and stuff like that.I was like "OH NO!!!!! NOT AGAIN!!!!!"
Then, after about five of them, I finally recognized one as being from two years ago, and I decided to come here and see if there was some sort of issue with the adt emails.
OK, heart attack avoided........

earlier today I sent this to astro re: the sending of archived my.adt mail:The program that I wrote that extracts them is not very intelligent. It just walks through the complex directory structure and parses each file looking for instances of a user's email address in the "To:" header. The odd side-effect of this method is that if you were one of a few people referenced in the "To:" field, then each of the other addresses listed also received copies of the emails as well. It's just like the email was sent from the original sender all over again. This may be confusing in a Deja-vu sense for some people receiving what would appear to them be a random email.

So, I guess this explains why I just received an e-mail today, where I had copied myself, that I had sent to an former ADT e-mail address?Just glad to know someone's Address Book hasn't been infected with a harvest-addresses-then-spam-with-virus-attachments e-mail virus

I was lucky. The first two that I received were talking about the ADT party in Vegas. So, I immediately knew that they were old 're-sends'.[Link] DenverDon Benevolent Firmly Embedded in Depravity 5914 Posts 7/02 Posted - May 10 2005 : 11:03PM
