I got the following message, with an attachment, about spam coming from my ADT email account. It came from 'administrator@adultdvdtalk.com'. Is this real?

"Dear user of Adultdvdtalk.com,

Some of our clients complained about the spam (negative e-mail content)
outgoing from your e-mail account. Probably, you have been infected by
a proxy-relay trojan server. In order to keep your computer safe,
follow the instructions.

For details see the attached file.

For security purposes the attached file is password protected. Password is "40605".

Sincerely,
The Adultdvdtalk.com team"

This is one of several possible wordings of the Beagle worm. It means that someone (not ADT) was infected by this worm, and the worm harvested your e-mail address (stored in a file on the infected computer). The worm then randomly generates some official sounding e-mail and attaches a copy of itself. That's what you received. So it's definitely not real, and you shouldn't open the attachment.

More information is at this page (Symantec).

we'll never call you a "user" and we'll never sign anything "team". we try to be more personal (eg we sign steph and drew.) and we don't send out attachments.
