Hi,
Just want to state a few observations I made about online dating.
I have been on various websites for around 6 months now. I consider myself attractive, and have received quite a few 'winks', which is basically when a member shows interest in you.
So I follow up these winks with a nice e-mail reply, I read your profile you seem interesting etc, but half the time they never even reply! I never understand winking and then not replying. Also I know they have read my e-mails, because I have that function.
Also a lot of these women seem to be online just for their ego, and have little interest in dating. It's like they just collect winks and enjoy all the attention they get. And another suprising thing is just how much money these women supposedly earn..they are all in the £50-75k a year margin..I am no economist but that seems to be an awful lot of rich women on dating sites...I call bullshit
Also a lot of women I talk to, disappear for months (I assume dating other people), and then contact me out of the blue..It is always so obvious that they broke up with someone...no contact and suddenly they pop-up ready to chat again. And no one is that fucking busy.
The whole thing is just really shallow, and the system should work as it brings together people who want the same thing, but just fucking doesn't....and I feel so lonely it sucks..people are like discover yourself, but I have, I enjoy my work, know who I am and just want someone to share some experiences with.

It sounds like maybe you take things a little too personally to enjoy internet dating. Ultimately, though, internet dating is just like regular dating - you need to "sift" through the phonies and those with incompatible personalities to find the person who matches you. The thing that's great about internet dating is that you can "sift" through a lot of people quickly before finding someone you want to date. But the downside is that you get "sifted through" as well. But at the end of the day, it's a numbers game - the more people you meet, the more likely your chances of finding a good match. You just have to not take things too personally - if someone chats with you then you don't hear from them for a while, don't stew over it - just move on.
I've never had experience with internet dating. I've got married long before the internet became ubiquitous. But I have several friends who did the internet dating thing after they got divorced. A few of them said it was the most efficient way to meet women - especially if you have a demanding career and you have hobbies that don't involve meeting a lot of people of the opposite sex.

yeah i do tend to get too serious i guess..but sometimes it seems they don't even give you a chance..I mean I would spend at least a few months with a person before deciding if I like them or not..I guess other people are more judgmental

I’ve done the online dating thing several times in my live. A big mistake that I made, first time around, was once I’d made contact with one person and things seemed to be moving along, I’d stop looking ! Don’t do this, ‘cos you’ll get let down, again and again! Build up as many contacts and arrange as many dates as possible, even if it means double booking yourself, don’t worry about cancelling, it will happen to you many times! Being Mr nice guy don’t work, so don’t! If you stick at it long enough, you will find someone, but it can get very emotionally draining and you will get “kicked in the nuts” many times, approach it with the view that most women are complete and utter self-centred bitch’s!

Online dating does suck. You should really put yourself out there, but not too far out. Dating sucks in general. What exactly are you looking for your soulmate? Fuck that shit. I have had pretty good luck simply describing myself, and not looking for my soulmate or a long term relationship. I just like to go out and have some fun, no matter what it is with no expectations of anything aside from having a good time. For instance (hey, I'm a lonely guy and don't get out a lot) I will place an ad saying "I'm looking for a girl to go to a concert with" or a "bike ride" or "dinner we both pay for our own" or whatever I feel like doing. Don't look for an LTR. Online dating for LTR's are mostly disasterous IMO. Women are lonely too, they just try to wade through the assholes and gameplayers. Don't play games or say anything you don't mean trying to get a date. Then you will become a "gameplayer." Online dating is a fucked up double edged sword and you will soon find out women are even more devious than men!!!
I went through the wringer with this girl I met online, she gave me the third degree asking me all sorts of shit. But I was honest with her and was a bit surprised she even wanted to meet me. We talked on the phone for weeks before meeting. My ad was beyond simple, all I was looking for was a girl who wanted to go for a motorcycle ride and had her own helmet.
She didn't have a helmet, but answered my ad anyways. I am still seeing her.
Another ad I posted was beyond crazy and I got serious responses from a lot of serious women. I specified that you must be a brunette, be a libra, like to travel, dine out, try new things, and so forth.
To make a long story short on that one, I got a ton of Libra's answering my ad even though they weren't brunettes. I went out with a few of them and had a fine time. I was more curious about why they answered my ad. I was fairly specific in the whole ad and the only requirement they met were that they were a Libra.
Online dating is crazy.

breeze u believe in star signs? yeah you are right about approaching things casually..when u go out looking for a soul mate u get disappointed..
I have a date 2moro, to be honest I don't find the girl too attractive, although she is far from ugly..I just wanna go and have a drink with someone, and I am not expecting anything else..I think that is a good attitude to have
The trouble is, sometimes you end up really liking someone, and then it is hard to continue being so casual

Do I believe in star signs? I don't "disbelieve" in them. You might be surprised if you do some research and find out what star sign is most compatable with yours and put an ad out there with something like.."Looking for a Libra 22-26" or whatever and see what kinda responses you get.

Best of luck on your date dawg. Who knows, maybe she's better looking in person. I find pornstars are like that. :)
keep at it. on dating sites, the guys outnumber girls by a HUGE margin, and most of the people have abandoned dating sites for facebook. have you tried facebook?

I dunno, although I met my husband online (here as a matter of fact) I don't get online dating. (I just got lucky)
Seems like the best way is just to flow with it, meet thru friends, go to parties, say hello to the cute girl in the store...
The internet just looses so much in the translation. Expressions, body language even tone are huge factors when you meet someone new.
Just my 2 cents, best of luck!

All dating sucks if you're not any good at it. Why single out online dating? It's the whole concept. It's supposed to be this wonderful thing that anyone can do but if you stink at it, you're breaking the rules even if you're trying not to. Because if you stink at the dating game, you're supposed to know you're not supposed to be playing it at all.

oh the master RandomPrecision we aint worthy..please bless us with your tips
I don't suck..I get plenty of attention online..I just don't understand the concept of winking at a guy, and then just fucking off..
If a woman winks at me, I sent a simple email along the lines of, I read your profile, you seem interesting..but then no reply..around half I would say
just dont make sense

Sheesh! I wasn't really attacking you. I was criticizing the way the game is played.
So OK. I'll give it my best guess. Maybe they're just fucking with you. I don't know. People can be fickle. My post wasn't a tip. If you want a real tip, here's one. Don't bother with trying to find someone online. You might actually have some luck if you keep working at it long enough but women have such an easy time finding dates that there's got to be a reason any female is looking online for men. And that usually doesn't mean something good. If you want my advice, drop the online thing and stick with real world people. Going online seems to me to be just adding complexity to an already complicated game.
