I use Windows Mail for Vista. To see pictures sent to me in mail messages I've always had to click on a bar that says some pictures blocked, click here to download them. Now, when I click on that bar the space for the picture is there but no pictures are displayed. It started about 3 or 4 days ago. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you seeing an X where the picture should be?
I have no knowledge about your specific issue. However, if you right-click on the X (assuming you see one) does it offer you a menu with "show picture" as an option?
Just something to try.

No, it's just an empty white space. For all graphical images.

Did you change any settings at all in the recent past? If not, maybe you could try going into the settings and see if there's an option for images. I think a lot of ISPs block attachments. They will sometimes just block them by default.

Often with MS "updates" they change the security settings of your mail client to the point that images, attachments etc don't show up.
Check the security settings.

It must have been something that Microsoft messed up. They came back after the last update.
