Major studios not releasing movies except sony and major retail chains like Wal-mart and Best Buy getting out of the UMD market, I can't see a porn studio stupid enough to support a failing format. However, UMDs were not successful for mainstream movies because people would rather pay and get the dvd and watch them on their widescreen. PSP users would probably like the idea of porn on their PSP as it is very private (ideal) as you can take your psp to any private place. UMDs were initially a failure because the priceing was way off (£18 or $35 eac) amd their were too many studios and titles released.. UMD sales are on the increase now that major movie studios have dropped their prices and because of the price drops the UMD format is becoming a lucrative market. You can now get most mainstream movies around on UMD for around £5 in UK or $8 in US. There is no other porn studios producing UMDs apart from Japanese studios (which are doing very well). Click to expand There may be a slight short-term increase in sales, but it is due to the prices being slashed because studios and stores are trying to clear out inventory that simply didn't sell. UMD is dead, imho. At least in the US. Maybe it will live on in Japan, I dunno. But anyway, there was at least one porn title released on UMD, "Virtual Lap Dances" by Bouncy Pictures. They had it at AdultDvdEmpire, but now it is "currently unavailable" there. I don't know how good it was, or if it was softcore or hardcore or whatever, but it did exist. [Link]

Click to expand Porn titles are made in much smaller volumes than mainstream. The cost of duplication equiptment must also be amoritized, yet there is little prospect of future sales. Companies like to avoid sunk costs. So prices would be much higher, listing mainstream prices is relatively meaningless. As said, companies often drop prices to avoid a total loss. Write-offs aren't as great a benefit as many would have you believe. The whys don't matter - and the one you list is meaningless. If I can't get privacy in my own home, there are serious issues and my problems go beyond just "where can I watch porn?" Companies have to want to explore the reasons for failure and see if there is a future. If mainstream movies on PSP don't sell, there is little reason to believe there will be many PSP players out there to play any porn titles. The future is in some form of high definition format. Okay then how about the studios offering downloadable pre-formatted porn which PSP owners can put straight onto their memory sticks?? The file formats would be preformatted to MP4 or AVC, with file sizes of around 400MB the downloads would be very quick. You could download and watch porn on your PSP the same day the title is released. Using this option the studios would not have to spend any money on the making of UMDs. All they would have to do is offer a few download links for PSP owners on their websites and a simple payment system? The most difficult thing at the moment is that if you want porn on your PSP, you cant just move a film to your memory stick without conversion first and this is time consuming etc. I gave a seach on the net for studios offering this and I coldnt' find any exploiting this market?
