| Smiler Grogan All-Star Member the war cry 14790 Posts 1/08 | Here's a server farm. There's a few hundred of these located all across the globe. ![]() Here's a nuclear bomb. It's one of the old-fashioned ones (not an ICBM of course...we don't wanna go nuts here!) ![]() Drop one of those babies on each server farm and BOOM! ![]() That's it! No more internet. No more streaming, no more downloading, no more piracy. Porn sales go back up. Newspaper and magazines come back to life. The world pretty much looks like this article. (or really, any movie from 1995-on back.) That's it. That's THE solution. It's the only solution. |
| killbillvol69 All-Star Member ^Lucy Pinder 18634 Posts 4/08 | We had another thread on this theme a while back, it was quite popular for a while. At that time, I posted the following: IMO private chats are the inevitable future of porn. Completely un-pirate-able, unless you want to watch what someone else wants to say to the girl, and what someone else wants the girl to do - which would completely defeat the purpose of a private chat. The pirates would be much more likely to just download older porn movies, where there's decent lighting and camera work and such. (By 'decent', I mean much better than in private chats, which essentially pay no thought at all to lighting or camera work.) Five years later, I still think this is the case. The only lucrative 'future model' of porn is likely to be camshows/private chats. Kiss "movies" goodbye. [edit: added stuff] Edited by - killbillvol69 on 7/11/2014 1:30:30 AM |

I think that cam shows (public and private) are the future of porn when it comes to how performers themselves will make money. But the biggest problems that girls are going to have with that model (and that they're already having with that model right now) is discoverability. As in, how are you going to get people to find out about you in a sea of other girls. And in the end, that's where porn as we know it right now will end up. As a way for girls to get their names out there (and get paid for it as well), while making the majority of their money doing cam shows and other personal things. Which means we'll be left either with whomever can get their scenes out for the cheapest amount of money spent, ensuring a decent rate of return even with a dwindling market, or a company that has a large stake in the cam show market also making traditional porn as a method of getting the girls signed up on their cam sites more exposure. There should be more outreach to these girls (and their agents who turn a blind eye) to educating them it's not OK and ultimately results in them making less money. For best results that outreach should come from intelligent, veteran stars e.g. jessica drake. |
| CummingLinguist All-Star Member 5908 Posts 11/11 | But, as I've said before, the studios could make a lot of headway against the tube sites by offering what the tube sites are already offering, namely aggregation and recommendations. Of course, it's complicated because the biggest tube conglomerate is also one of the biggest producers, and they are using their tube sites to undermine their competitors. But in principle, its hard to compete with free, and its impossible to compete with free if the free offering is in some ways better than the paid offering. |
| Moony Member 143 Posts 8/08 | 1. Stop acting like shysters/rip off merchants when it comes to online sales/signups. If you make it easier for people to sign up/pay without making them jump through hoops - and more importantly make it easy to cancel (what's with this auto renewal crap) - I think a lot more people would go legit if the companies acted like 'normal' retailers. 2. Treat niche customers with more respect - don't just throw any old crap into a niche film, thinking the customers will put up with it just because it nominally caters for their niche. A classic example is BBW movies - they are getting better - but for a long time, porn companies had very low standards when it came to production values, the quality of the talent etc. They seemed to think all you had to do to satisfy people who liked BBWs was to get a BBW actress regardless of looks or talent - put her with a male actor regardless of looks or talent - and film it. Sorry, but it doesn't work like that. I am extremely selective about buying niche films nowadays because I have been stung so many times in the past. 3. Make it clearer just what the movie contains. Seeing the male talent treat a girl like shit (face slapping, hooking mouth with fingers etc) is a scene killer for me. Some excellent scenes are spoilt for me when the male pulls this kind of crap half way through. There is usually little indication on the box or description that this goes on. Perhaps some sort of labelling system which indicates things like the level of sexual violence etc would make it easier to avoid movies containing stuff you don't like. Again - things like this only make me more hesitant/selective in what I buy - if I have any doubts - I just don't spend the money. Edited by - Moony on 7/11/2014 12:30:52 PM |

| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | First, it really doesn't help when the tube sites and the studios are owned by the same company. Second, the sad thing about tube sites is that they could actually be great for the industry if someone were to police them properly. The real issue with tube sites is the fact that full scenes are up there with days of release, and usually stay up the for a long time, and even if the studio gets them to remove it, someone just uploads it again. Tube sites are/can be great for what is legitimately promotional content, and are even now arguably the best place for someone a company to put up promotional content that's going to contain nudity and/or explicit sex, as Youtube and even Vimeo usually won't allow that type of stuff. |

The baddest apple in the barrel is also the biggest. If the ADT community really wanted undermine the tube sites, we would encourage people to consume bandwidth at Mindgeek's tube sites, but to never ever think of purchasing products from Digital Playground, Brazzers, Reality Kings, etc. But Mindgeek advertises here, and most of the performers who post here perform for Mindgeek-owned companies. I have certainly paid for their products, though as I said, I lived to regret one of these purchases. (But it doesn't stop me from buying Digital Playground DVDs at AdultDVDmarketplace.com.) ![]() |

| CummingLinguist All-Star Member 5908 Posts 11/11 | I guess, I was more saying that those who care about the financial well being of the industry should take pains to do business with the good companies AND to avoid doing business the bad companies– chief among them Mindgeek. ADT seems to post ads from Mindgeek, and most of the performers perform for Mindgeek. Then these same people lament the effect that the tube sites are having on the industry. |

DDF network and 21st sextury are the exceptions in my opinion. I'm a member of both and have been for years simply because the content is more equally balanced and not weighed too heavily towards one niche. IMO that's the solution. |

Your accounting includes their membership site as the only source of revenue for their scenes. If you look in the price search, it is full of releases from Brazzers on DVD. Your figures don't include DVD income from customers purchasing their discs nor any income from the sites renting their discs. |

| Digmen1 Member 629 Posts 7/07 | And Simler Grogans pics on page 3 made it all worthwhile! The thing is who says there is a down turn? I think there is more pron being made than ever and much better porn. Yes, things do change - look at VHS, the Post Office, But with the number of pay sites and studios out there they must all still be making money or they would not still be there. One answer is to let me direct some movies I have some ideas that have never been done Afaik. |
