The industry has to look out for its interests (to an extent) above those of individuals working within it. Considering that Proposition 60 was defeated by less than a 10% margin a few years back, I'd imagine the group of porn companies is concerned that more propositions to restrict the freedom of the porn industry may be put forward. If there's a large scale return to shooting and a number of performers and filming crew test positive for coronavirus, the media will be all over that and it will be just the "excuse" to propose more restrictive legislation against the porn industry. As coronavirus can spread far more easily to a civilian than an STD, it would make a great spin for legislators to secure a vote in favour of the proposition. [Link]
gooch Member 678 Posts 8/20	Posted - Sep 4 2020 : 11:16PM Just a small checking in, a touching of base, wasn't sure if there was any real news to be reported in regards to this or not. Does anyone have any updates - are the studios opening/opened up? Any clues when they might have the chance to do so? Yearlong member (a recent member) of Evil Angel and HUHS, always eying the sites for updates or any bits of news in regards to the situation (are there any sites right now that are managing a way to pump out new material?) I imagine it'll be a bit of a delay at that, whence things get back to normal shooting it'll still take time to edit, market, etc. and it'll take time to work through a backlog. Something on the topic that came to mind while wrapping this up is how I've enjoyed the EA Porn From Home scenes that the girls have shot themselves and sent in - been some real hot scenes that way, be great if they could get pushed a little more even, help bridge the gap. I'm seeing female talent updates over in the Porn Pool, their tweets, saying they're in the valley, ready to shoot. Not seeing anything over at Evil Angel in terms of an uptick in content yet. Been a frustrating membership thus far, picked a terrible time to purchase one. And the thing that is most aggravating is they're this monolithic entity, zero, no, outreach to their fan base, it'd be very much welcome if they could give us an update or updates as to whether they are gearing back up to full time production and if not, why not, considering the talent tweets I'm seeing saying they're shooting for X site or in the valley for X number of days ready to shoot? That, coupled with movies on Evil Angel Video having a street release date, even having been already released (as of the 16th) and not a hint of their coming to the Evil Angel website for members to watch. I don't know if they are actually coming or if they're trying to hold out and release it in dribbles and drabs. Anybody got any information? Anything concrete? And if Evil Angel and their directors aren't doing it, who is shooting and shooting steadily, so I can give them my money and not those that are currently not shooting. [Link]

I mean, Evil Angel is putting out a hell of a lot more new/unreleased content than most of the sites I follow, especially XEmpire and Mike Adriano's sites (Swallowed, True Anal, Nympho, All Anal). In the case of the latter, those four sites literally stopped releasing new scenes as soon as the shutdown began; there's talk in his Porn Pool thread that Adriano has resumed shooting, but it still could be weeks/months before those scenes actually get released on the four sites. By the way, you said you purchased a membership...it wasn't a year-long one, was it? [Link]

I'm certainly keen on hearing any one else's experiences with the sites that they're subbed to, and if they've gotten any sort of information from those sites. Yeah, I pulled the trigger on a year long one to Evil Angel about a month and a half ago, followed up with HUHS (another year) as I wanted the unedited versions of those scenes (EA has'em cut down, the "wet" portions). Kinda second-guessing that decision now, but it is what it is, they're bought and paid for for a year. [Link]

Especially when you truly never know what's going to happen to the site in question during that year. It's a tough time for porn fans who pay for their porn because while I don't mind supporting the industry. It's hard for me to pay for a membership to a site that has few if any new updates since the last time I was a member. It helps the site stay alive but it's not necessarily helping any performer if they aren't shooting porn for those sites. If I knew what my money got me then I might support the performers who have OF account but for now I mostly search Many Vids and C4S to see if there is a video worth the kind of money they ask for. Instead of paying a yearly price for one site I use that money on a different site each month through the various monthly sales where you get most sites for 10 bucks a month. Adriana Chechik did some, now it seems weeks ago for deeper, which will coming out, Nr, 1 is still released. But most of the girls doing their own stuff, made and create by their own, promoting and advertising it on twitter, because of t his huge scope. And then they are selling it on manyvids, modelhub or her own OF site, and some are really successful create much more money, than shooting films the whole time as they did it before, I can say this for the girls I am sub on OF. pat362 Senior Member 10079 Posts 3/10	Posted - Oct 19 2020 : 6:12PM ^The current problem for the industry as a whole isn't that they aren't willing to be opened or even fully opened for business but that the people working in the industry may be too afraid to work in it for fear of catching a disease that can kill you, a family member or a friend and you will never know that it was you who infected them until after it's happened. STI testing protocols have been in effect for decades in the industry and performers still regularly get infected and most those viruses aren't as dangerous as Covid. [Link]

Mindgeek sites (Brazzers et al) were more cautious and had a longer hold on production. We follow Free Speech Coalition guidelines and all performers and on-set staff must come in with negative COVID tests. There have been a few performers who tested positive for COVID, but none because of on-set transmission. One of my shoots was cancelled recently because a performer tested positive. The testing labs supply their data to state health authorities and given how there has been no mention of shutting down film productions of any kind, we can assume the positivity in our industry is low for now. But we are aware that US production is at the mercy of mainstream film production. Should mainstream production be ordered to lock down, so must porn production. [Link]

Whether it will be a short circuit breaker style, or industry-shutting, is anyone's guess, but few of my peers have been taking the opportunity since summer, to shoot and bank content to last them through a potentially extended lockdown. Business-wise, they aren't pressured to. During the spring lockdown, everyone's sales went up even if they didn't update. Some are taking half measures by licensing content. But I think that is unfair to the members who are expecting original content. Giving a shoutout to julesjordan.com - who has been shooting a lot and regularly banks enough content.
