I've got about 1/2 a dozen discs that for whatever reason, my Sony DVD player finds objectionable. Strangely enough, they all are Red Light District vids. The problems range from skipping to siezing to not playing at all. This is always accompanied by a gawd awful sandpapery sound. Most of them play without flaw on my PC and on a Toshiba DVD player that my friend owns.

I own approx. 300 movies and have no problem playing titles from other companies which leads me to think there is more to this than just coincidence. Is there some issue that I'm not aware of with RLD discs being compatible with certain players? Anyone else have similar problems?

Thanks.

bono-ONE mentioned having technical issues in numerous RLD titles that he reviewed, so it's possible that there is a problem out there but I cannot personally say that I've encountered it thus far.

I know what you're talking about since I had exactly the same problems with around 10 RLD DVDs so far.

Some of them would freeze only in the bonus contents, some others in the last 15 minutes of the movie. And yes, you describe very well the "gawd awful sandpapery sound"!

With my previous DVD player (Philips) they would play better, but the noise was even louder before accessing the main menu and in the first 10 minutes of the film. All the discs play fine on my pc.

KingClutch, have a look at this thread
I don't think the problem comes from Sony DVD players.
