With a well-known director and studio behind them, I figured the chances were good for something steamy... Well, yes and no. There's plenty of fake steam, in fact. In two scenes. Plus a fake alley, a fake locker room, a fake industrial plant... If you never thought bad set design could ruin a film, take a look here. You want to shoot in the studio rather than on location? Fine! But this movie appears to have been filmed onstage at your Aunt Matilda's small-town community theater. And with a similar budget. In fact, colored stage lights were used rather than movie lights--casting inadvertant red and green shadows across all the performer's bodies. There's not an actual skin-tone in sight. Of course, the set and lights get plenty of competition. It's hard to imagine a lamer script. There's supposed to be a story going on here, but I defy anyone to actually follow it. From multiple viewings, I gather it has something to do with friends and boyfriends betraying each other. (Gasp!) The plot is told only thru direct monologs, so each "performer" gets their own special chance to spout meaningless drivel--and sound phony doing so. (If you've watched much network TV lately, you know that direct-camera address can be annoying even when it's done well. Here, as you can imagine, it's not.) Five scenes, in total. 1) Devyn and Cort Stevens, who, thanks to the lighting has never looked more blemished. 2) Marco and a friend, who seems unwilling to ever leave his chair. 3) An average-looking blond jacks off in a minimalist locker room. 4) One guy gives another head, thru a chain-link fence which is perhaps three feet wide. Then they move over to a phony alley, suggested by a trash can and some graffiti. Finally, 5) the romantic-duo finale with Devyn and friend on a couch, apparently somewhere in empty space... Still, I have to say that Marco and Devyn are fuckin' hot. In particular, Devyn still gets my vote for the sexiest tattoos to adorn the human male, with his three strategically placed oriental word/character/thingies. (Anyone know what they actually mean?) The first and final scenes, in spite of all the ineptitude, still floated my boat in a big way... Aaron Spelling once said of Jaclyn Smith that it was impossible to film her poorly. Perhaps the same holds true for Mr. Foster. If you want to see Devyn's tatoos in action, they alone MAY be worth the price of admission.
