Interesting, thanks for posting about this nightTemplar. To be honest I would have been a bit more enthusiastic about this news a few years ago (my deflated expectations and all that) But with that being said, I think Riley has plenty to offer to porn fans depending upon what she wants to do, so we'll see what the future brings. Girls like Riley Reid and Annika Albrite are showing that by working for multiple companies and building your fanbase that way, then moving to the other side of the camera is the far more lucrative way to go in the modern industry in the long run.
^^ I'd argue that in the modern industry, contracts aren't as much about paying the best/being more lucrative as they are about managing your time. Getting to the top of the non-contract scene, and then staying there, is a grind that requires a lot of networking, a lot of self-promotion, and a whole lot of shooting on a schedule that you don't necessarily get to set. A contract, on the other hand, is basically a guaranteed X amount of scenes every Y amount of time, without much work required besides showing up on set, making sure you do a good job, and probably some promotion of whomever you signed your contract with. They're best for performers who have obvious interests outside of porn, be it family, another career, or anything else that might take up a decent amount of time that isn't adult industry related.
Hmm it's interesting while the direct link to her ladirect page posted above still works, If you go to the ladirect website, clicking on her profile no longer brings anything up. Also on her twitter page her bio yesterday used to say "booking threw LAdirect"(quoting how she had it)and now it says "current ABP contract star" Unless there is a mistake somewhere it seems likely to me that either she changed her mind very quickly or ABP's legal team got in touch with her. Either way it looks to be fairly anticlimatic in my view..typical.

While she is free to do as she wishes, there's a certain element of trust when you decide to either invest time or money in following a star and I'm tapped out.
