Keep in mind that while most of the movies and performers are judged based on the calendar year 2005, some titles released in late 04 qualify (because they were reviewed in 05). Also "Newbie" goes back into late 04 as well depending on when a girl really hit the radar.

Both of them were very close. If I had gone with 12 instead of 10 like last year, then at least one of these would have made it. Top 15, they both would have made the cut.

I don't get the Ben English nom. He belongs in a whole new category. Something like "Most likely to mortally hurt some poor woman and send the whole crew to jail for criminal neglect". He and Tony T would be in a death match for that honor. How does Slayer not make the cut ahead of him? As far as Aurora, I know you love her (I do too) but she did next to nothing this year. You might as well have added Kaitlyn Ashley to Best Female.

Rough estimates, I know, but some newer titles aren't listed yet.
Myself, I'd like to nominate Nikki Dial and JR Carrington.
What I don't get is the hatred for Ben and the Slayer worship that seems to be going on. Maybe I missed Ben's brutal scene. I've only seem him do really solid work. I could see Mark Wood for Ben, but I have yet to see Slayer do anything that would put him anywhere near this list.
As for Aurora....hell this is my list. She did enough to get noticed and it's quality not quantity.
This is why I will argue against those who say one should review porn "objectively." Porn is always subjective.
So far some people have made some good arguments (for Mark Wood, for Courtney Cummz) and some questionable ones (against Jules Jordan, Brandy Taylore and Jesse Jane).
If we 100 of us made our own lists we would have 100 different lists. That's what makes it fun.
Ain't if fun that 99% of responses to award nominations are not to congratulate those who did make it, but to rip the list?

OMGZ AURORA SNOW IS TEH BESTEST. Aurora Snow, Does she have some kinda of sponsers exception (sorta like in golf)? Every list you make she is on it. Im gonna track down all 10 of her movies she put out this year and see if I agree. *insert rolling eyes smiley here.

Well congrats to all nominees and to the eventual winners as well. I actually saw a few features this year for a change so liked seeing Darkside on that!
I did pick the winners yes. Had to get the names to the trophy people early so I can give them out. (Actually doing it live on the air in Vegas this year.)
I was expecting you to question why Ariana wasn't on the list. I am questioning that myself today. I had originally done a list of Female Performers that left all Newbies off and she was on it.
This was a pretty good year for features I think. Pirate, Camp Cuddly Pines, Darkside, Dawn of the Head....there were others, but it was much easier to pick the first 4 or 5 features than it was to pick the first few all-sex movies.
I'm starting a winners-poll I think. Like those Oscar things I always had to fill out. Whoever gets closest to picking the winners gets a prize.
I wouldn't question why she wasn't on the list this year because I don't think she was in a lot of releases, not as many as say Jasmine or Hillary or Katja. Don't get me wrong Ariana is an awesome performer and I'm rooting like hell for her to win in Vegas but I totally respect your list, some really great women on it!!

Interesting. I don't always agree with your ratings, but your reviews are detailed enough, and I've read enough of them, for me to tell when I'd call it differently.
However, in this case your list, and even your comments, echo my own almost to a T. I'd just swap Austyn and Carmen, as Carmen's G/G scenes rocked my boat (damn near scuttled it). But I was impressed with Austyn too, so it's close.
I honestly didn't care much for Jesse's boob job, but dayum that girl was on fire. She totally surprised me by stealing the show like that. F*cking great fucking performance.
And that's not taking anything away from the rest of the cast's blistering performances.
The only female performer who, through no fault of her own, didn't impress, was Teagan. She looked adorable, but didn't get any chance to strut her stuff. Whoever (Joone) decided to have Teagan looking so damn cute, and then have her participate so little in her scene, needs to seriously consider a lobotomy.

I've never seen him act in any way other than as a mean, arrogant machine. Forgetting just for a moment that he's the poster boy for conflict of interest. English has never, in all the scenes I've seen him in, ever made even the most simple connection with the woman he's working with. And I won't even mention Slayer again, but Ben English can't carry Mark Wood's jock. There are a lot of edgy male performers who can fuck like maniacs, but most of them have some nuance to their game and can adjust to a woman's needs and limitations. To me, that's the mark of a good male performer. All the other guys on your list have those traits.
AC - If you have seen my movies and feel that I am a joke then good for you always healthy to voice an opinion. But if you haven't I will be more then gladly to send you some movies.

Sorry I was pulling an all nighter into today, thus why I didn't reply....
#1. Janine - She was SO clearly the class of the film. Acting and sex.
#2. Austyn Moore - She was smoking hot and her sex scene was really good.
#3. Jenaveve Jolie - I so wish her role would have been bigger than just the girl that turned Carmen's character out.
#4. Carmen Luvana - Her acting wasn't great and being Kris Slater's love interest didn't help, but Carmen was hot as always.
#5. Teagan - Devon ruined her scene, but I was left wanting to see more of Teagan.
#6. Then Jesse Jane - Sex scenes were annoying, the only sex scene worth watching was when Janine dominated her a bit and made her calm down.
#7 Devon - She was clearly struggling with everything.
I've clearly missed some gossip on this one. Whatever he did on set or behind the scenes that has upset the powers that be is outside of my radar. Sorry guys. He didn't get nominated because he was "edgy" but because he carries a lot of the movies I've seen. If we're talking about not making a connection then again how can you nominate Slayer? I have seen very few guys this side of Ed Powers who gets less out of great talent.
Sorry for not keeping up on the latest who did what to who, but I tend to focus on the movies and not the politics. If someone wants to email links to the story I'll read what Ben did to bring down such a personal attack.
And for the record, I often nominate people I don't like. If they are strong, then they get nominated. There are some girls and guys on this list who have been dicks or bitches (sometimes both) to me. That isn't what I'm dealing with.
Hey Van -- Congrats on a great year. You have a great style (pun intended) and know how to get those babes to froth at every orifice like they are rabid dogs and the animal control man is a block away. I loved your shots with Penny Flame and Anna P. especially ... rock on in 06 and lets get fucked up in Vega$ MUTHERfucka~!

Why exactly was I a dickhead? Because I didn't gush over the "greatness" of Van Styles like you do every chance you get? It's a thread about who we think should or shouldn't be nominated. Rog, I'm judging the performances by what I see on camera as well. The inference about English was because he's one of the top agents in porn. As far as our different perceptions I have this to say. I think of you as the top reviewer on the net. When I'm looking at old titles I might be interested in and there's a list of reviewers on IAFD, yours is usually the first, and maybe last, that I click on. Having said that, you express disdain for some women regularly that I think are just fine. Sometimes we're looking for, and at, different things. As for Slayer, I don't think his Black Pipe Layers series is the best indication of what makes him a good performer. His one on ones always seem to get at something real and I get the feeling that if the camera was turned off, they'd still be going at it like rutting animals. If by "getting less out of the talent" you mean no anal, Slayer doesn't seem to be obsessed by the act. Barring that, the girls are much more giving with him than almost anybody in porn. As far as English's performance goes, he's functional and solid and he'll chase a woman across the bed to pound her out even while she's trying to close her legs and keep him from hurting her more. He barks at them and displays no nuance in his roughness. Nothing at all to temper the actions. I know that some people would just call him dominant but I'm seeing a sadist. It's not always possible, but I do try to avoid videos he's in. On a lighter note, you're right, it's your list and I hope Aurora Snow has a great 2006. Merry Xmas

I'm loving this conversation you 2 are having Rog and picman. I have to say I'm split on the people being discussed. picman I'm totally with you about English and Mark Wood, BUT I totally agree with Rog on Slayer.

There are ways to respectfully disagree without belittling someone or making your comments so abrasive. Sadly, you seem to not yet be smart or mature enough to master this subtle yet relatively easy to accomplish art. Regardless of what your opinions may be, and everyone here has disagreed with another from time to time and not everyone here likes the same things, maybe you can follow some advice that someone once gave me but I'll ammend it for your consumption since your mental facilities seem to not be on par with everyone elses:
At least TRY to say something nice or don't say anything at all. If you don't agree with something that is said here and you can't find a palatable way to put it without acting like a 2-year-old with no filter between your brain and your fingers or any common sense at all, just DON'T COMMENT. I like some members here that I've met before like Bono or Skronker but that's solely because I think they're cool. AC, if you're really a fan, I have a funny feeling that when you get to L.A. one of these days, you'll get a very cool reception because nobody cares.
Sometimes it serves to be a little tactful. It's nice to voice an opinion here and there but being tactful as a supposedly humble fan should be your first rule of thumb.
In the grand scheme of things, I can tell the way you write, you seemingly thing you have something alot of people will listen to. You are wrong and the question is, have you ever been right?
