I don't watch the Tyra Banks Show, neither do I know anything about Sasha Grey's personal motives for her life choices. However, I clicked on the link and watched all six segments of the show just to see what all the commotion on this thread was about. And now that I've seen it, I still don't know what all the commotion is about.
None of this should have been unexpected. Tyra Banks is a talk-show host whose job it is to acquire ratings and appeal to her audience, which is exactly what she was doing. Sasha Grey is a porn performer who can also always benefit from increased exposure to herself (especially in the mainstream arena), which is what she was doing by going onto the show. Both Tyra and Sasha knew exactly what they were doing, which was getting more popularity for themselves. I cannot believe that anyone in the porn industry really goes on to any of these shows believing that he/she will be welcomed with open arms by the host or adored by the audience. They know exactly what they are walking into before they agree to step foot onto the stage, or at least they should.
Tyra is not the first, neither will she probably be the last, talk show host to do this. Even as a kid, I remember watching Phil Donahue (or was it Geraldo? I can't remember which) having a show where a male porn star was repeatedly told that the movies he makes only turn men into rapists and misogynists. Additionally, Jerry Springer used to love to invite Jasmin St. Claire and John T. Bone onto his show just so they could be insulted and berated by the audience who never allowed either of them to get a word in edgewise. It perplexes me why anyone who watches these shows still gets surprised by this.
I haven't done the research either, but it's widely speculated that the majority of porn people were somehow abused in their lives. True or not, it is a widespread generalization. Sasha even agreed with Tyra when she made the statement. Although Sasha said that she herself was not abused, she did agree that a "large amount" of others in her profession were.Like Tyra or hate her, she is known and well-accepted in the mainstream entertainment industry, while porn presently is not. She currently has two shows on TV. I personally don't think she's all that great of a talk-show host, and even if I were home during the day, I still wouldn't watch her. But even if her shows fail, there will always be open opportunities (and much better money) for her in mainstream entertainment, which is an advantage that is not as readily available to someone working in porn. Porn cannot be compared on the same level to mainstream entertainment as an accepted genre. As popular as porn may be, it still carries a hevay stigma.People deny things all the time. It's just the way the world works. People deny infidelity, or drug use, or theft, or sexual history, etc., usually for the sake of their own reputations and relationships. For example, more than half of the women in Tyra's audience might be some of the most freakiest, kinkiest, sex-loving fiends in their private lives, but they're not going to show it while millions of people are watching. Likewise, a man may have a whole closet of porn hidden away in his house. But no man in his right mind is going to go into a room full of women and openly admit his love of watching a woman get ass-fucked by a dozen guys... unless he just doesn't mind being lonely and dateless for the next few years.
That clip on You Tube looked like it was edited to make Sasha look like a victim of porn, which of course was Tyra's goal. Tyra was trying to make Sasha look like she (Sasha) was robbed of her innocence. No wonder why porn still has a stigma attached to it. This attitude needs to change. I'm tired of people thinking that porn is evil. I hope that Sasha will have a long career in the industry, and if she decides she's had enough of porn that's fine as well. It doesn't matter what decision she makes because it's her life, not ours.
By the way, Sasha should send Tyra a copy of "The Awakening Of Sasha Grey" once it comes out.

So how is this speculation about Tyra's past any different (or fairer) than Tyra's speculation about Sasha's past? I don't think it's all that deep. Tyra is simply one person among millions who is repeating what people in porn already know other people are thinking, which is an attitude that porn is an exploitative and degrading industry. Do you really find this attitude to be uncommon? Is Tyra Banks the first person whom you've ever heard say this? We are talking about the world outside of porn here. The porn industry itself thrives on its own taboo, so Tyra isn't saying anything that is new to them or anyone else. In fact, Tyra is doing the porn industry a favor by giving it more publicity, which I'm sure she's aware of. I doubt if Tyra Banks really gives a crap about stopping girls from doing porn. She probably couldn't care less. She's just a talk-show host working to get ratings by saying what she knows her audience agrees with.
I'm watching the repeat right now on Oxygen and actually, what kind of stands out for me is how frumpy Tyra looks. I don't ever watch the show, so I don't know if that's her normal look these days, but I would assume she's trying to make herself look more mature to draw a contrast between herself and her younger guests. Interesting.

Realtip's responses are by far the most reasoned in this entire overblown thread. It's to be expected the ledger weighs heavily in Sasha's favor on this site. It is, after all, for porn die-hards. It's NOT the Tyra Banks fan club. On the other hand, Realtip is right when he says that all the vitriolic speculation ABOUT Tyra is no better that what most everyone seems to be accusing Tyra of. Grow up, everyone! I want to know about Dr. Drew's reference to porn stars having to wear diapers by the time they're 30 - if they're not careful in terms of what they do. And I want to know if anyone else found unplausible the claim of Sasha's agent that he doesn't get a slice of the money pie in terms of the scenes themselves, and what she is willing to do in them. Well posting a link won't quite work with where i found it.But i will tell you how to find what i found.
Go to RAME.net and put Tiana in the search box.It will bring up a list of proformers and she is #2 in the list of females.
If this is the same girl then she was in porn not to long ago and just got out not long ago at all and says she was in over 120 films.And by some of the titles some pretty hardcore stuff and she has the right to try and judge Sasha.

I just watched the episode-this girl "Tiana" that Tyra bought out is an overweight looking woman, a virtual unknown, and we are already on the 8th page of this thread, filled with xxx fanatics and someone still has not clearly identified this woman. I do agree that Tyra Banks could have presented a more balanced view by having another former pornstar on the show who doesn't regret her porn career to counter the one who does regret it. But that obviously isn't what Tyra was going for, and I think it's far-fetched to think that her audience would have been willing to listen to the other side anyway. And for what it's worth, I don't think there would have been too much of a problem finding a more popular pornstar who regretted her career to come onto the show, but for whatever reason, maybe she was the only one who was either invited or who agreed to come.
As for the former pornstar who did appear on the show, she said herself that she was 40lbs. overweight when she was in the industry. With this in mind, perhaps she appeared mainly in BBW titles rather than mainstream porn titles, which might be one reason no one knows her, especially if you're not a fan of that particular niche (and I am not). It's also possible that she could have used a different name on the show than what she used when she was in the industry. It stands to reason that she would do this, especially if she wants to disassociate herself from her porn past.
Haven't you heard? Porn starlets never start off doing IR. It's one of those things they have to gradually work their way up to.
So since we identified the Tiana that you found on Rame is actually Tianna Lynn, are you saying that a picture of Tianna Lynn was flashing on Tyra show?

Yes! There was a pic flashing a few times on the screen that i think was behind the couch they were sitting on and talking. I could be mistaken but i'm pretty sure to what i saw.But to be 100 percent sure i would have to see the show again or atleast the part when Tiana came out.

I have come to the conclusion that it is not the same person after doing some more research.

I also feel very strongly this was a con job by Tyra to try and ambush Sasha! It was a railroad job from the first minute of the show!!!
I'd like to point out a few things about Sasha's recent appearance on the "Tyra Banks Show." To wit:
1) Almost every word (and faux "emotion") that came out of Tyra's mouth on the show was read directly off of cue cards by Tyra Banks.
2) No one, including a senior writer at the AVN magazine, has any idea who this "Tiana" (the purported "pornstar") is.
3) Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the segment where Sasha was allowed to rebut the assertions put forward by Tyra and "Tiana" was edited out of the show!
