I just wrote a long post here and it got lost. I hate these forums sometimes.. arrgh..

I will rewrite it slightly quicker. And this reply is basically towards all posters on this forum, so, diapason please don't take it personally.

The reason your post was locked was not so much because you were "out of line" but because I want to discourage people from using this forum as a method of "public email", especially when the targetted recipients are not neccesarily going to see them.

By all means post here with your difficulties but when doing so, make sure you email the companies in question "one last time" and give them a few days to reply to your email (bearing in mind weekend, public holidays, etc).

When posting it's also very useful to include as much information on your problem as possible, as in date of order, what and how many items were ordered (not neccecarily titles) and from which country (sender) to which country (destination), because as well all know, some customs are less friendly than others.

When something was sent but not yet recieved, when the order "was sent" and also when it was when you first contacted the company about the order and what if any their reply was (and how long it took).

If you were charged and the order was sent/not sent/not confirmed/never heard from them again at all.

And of course some way for the company to identify you personally should they see the post. (diapason did make it possible for Aline to identify you).

Understand that while this forum is most definately for both complaints and praise about retailers, it's essentially a consumer shopping forum, so it's good to relate as much specific experience to the rest of us as possible. From this perspective posting direct "emails" or questions to companies here is not nearly as useful or likely to be replied to as an email. Or 4 emails.

diapason,

Just to put you at ease, I'm not an employee of anyone here. I'm just some guy in Australia who (foolishly) put his hand up to help moderate this forum when it was created, to help people like myself find out who is good, bad and ugly amongst the retailers, and to help out with what I know when I can.

Please email Aline again, and allow a day or two for her to reply (I think it's still their weekend for another bunch of hours there, plus time for them to sleep sunday night).

After a couple of days, please post here again on this topic with whatever has been your experience, and some more detail of your problems, as I'm sure that everyone who orders or is thinking of ordering from erodvd will be interested in the outcome.

If you have any questions or difficulties with my explaination, please reply to this thread. I'll most likely lock it tomorrow if there are no more "general" questions on this sort of thing to answer.

cheers,

scipio

This problem mainly occurs because the forum identification cookie expires after 20 minutes of inactivity (i.e. when typing out a long post but not doing anything else). It's a good idea to copy long posts to notepad before submitting, just in case your cookie has expired.

Excuse the tangent

Scipio and rieek, something that might help along this line. Someone in another thread (perhaps even Drew) pointed out that if you hit the preview button, that will refresh the identification cookie for another 20 minutes.

However, I type my longer postings on the side and then paste them into the forum.

It was actually my own mess up this time.. I right-clicked on the International Shopping hyperlink above my post, to "Open in new window" because I wanted to check something I was referring to.. and my mouse slipped by a couple of millimeters to "Open".

The back-arrow then presented me with a lovely blank reply screen. Maybe I should have alt-N'ed but what are you going to do? :/

cheers,

scipio

Scipio,

All the ADT members haven't got enough fingers and toes to keep track of the number of times I have 'missed by a millimeter'!

Scipio,

Here's another solution that might help.

Actually Denver, I just had to buy a new monitor about 6 weeks ago. But it wasn't like that, honestly.
