Well said. I remember Melissa Lauren stating that one of the most challenging aspects of her porn career was having to deal with talents/directors who agree on a set of rules before the scene starts, then keep trying to push the girl over that limit once the camera starts rolling. And keep in mind, this is Melissa Lauren, one of the most avid practitioners of rough sex on film. What she describes is unethical from a business perspective and downright repugnant from a human one. The guilty parties and their shameless supporters try to spin this into some abstract bullshit about "exploring limits" and other nonsense; but it's crystal clear what they're doing and who they are marketing it to. Meat holes was the most blatant example of this, but far from the only one.
As a one-man tribunal who knows exactly who is guilty and who is shameless, could you please provide concrete examples? You can argue against "abstract bullshit" all you want but please don't contribute to it by not drawing a line. Obviously, you know the truth and I'd like to learn something I don't know.
The people you're talking about who are specifically looking for scenes they know had issues with consent, well, you have a point but I think I was trying to say that some folks are making assumptions about everyone who likes rough sex and hard, edgy S&M themed stuff based upon those few jackasses who go out of their way to be offensive on XPT or wherever it may be. Or maybe you're not doing that? I don't know but that seemed to be the general direction some posters in this thread were going in.
Let me ask you something. What if a person just wants to see it for the same reason you slow down at a bad car crash? Sure, it's sick and tasteless and everybody in the world does it at least a few times and they damn well know they do. How do you know these people who are looking for these scenes are not 18 years old and they just want to see something freaky and shocking? You never did that? How do you know they aren't writers or researchers or investigators? My point is you just don't know. Never just assume anyone is who they say they are online.
Well, I wouldn't say a typical bondage scene is exactly "playacting". For most people who really get into it, the pain and discomfort are real and they're supposed to be. Masochism is about enjoying pain (physical and mental) and sadism is about enjoying inflicting it. It's exceptionally easy for things to get confused (especially if you don't understand it) and that's why it's not really a good idea to do it in porn. The trust, bond and relationship just isn't there in most cases. It takes time to build all this stuff up. If the girl gets pissed off after the fact and says it was all non consensual, who can prove otherwise? Porn is just a whole different ballgame. You're not necessarily dealing with women (or men, for that matter) who enjoy any of it in the first place. It's highly likely at least half of the women don't enjoy a minute of any scene they ever do. And that's even if all the scenes are soft and fluffy.
So let me ask you this. Is it any less sick to enjoy watching serious pain when it is consensual? Because I'm going to tell you there's a fine line. Most of us in the real world will never cross it (for obvious reasons) but it's often really hard to tell when you're watching a movie. A woman can be crying her eyes out and still be getting off on a really weird level. You can't base anything on how things appear. Yes. You can name some scenes that seem to have been totally wrong for anyone to ever have put them out. But you can't judge them all based on a few.
I'm aware of that. I would rather go to ridiculous extremes with innocent until proved guilty than the other way around. Maybe you've seen evidence that convinced you. I really haven't because I haven't been looking for it, honestly. I like to give everyone a chance to explain themselves. I find that you can usually see things from someone else's POV if you just try. Even if you don't understand a weird thing like a fetish or kink, you might understand the person better if you think about your own kinks and try and imagine what you would do if you had no way to explore them in the real world. Perhaps there has been a misunderstanding. This thread started out talking about a supposedly depraved scene between Rocco and Kelly and branched out into some strange directions. I'm not sure I've read the whole thread so I could have missed some stuff but I'm not really sure how we ended up talking about people who want to see real rape as opposed to people who enjoy Rocco's stuff or even some of the stuff on the extreme fringes that you'll find online. I don't think you can really talk about this stuff without discussing real life women who have very extreme desires and very few limits. It would stand to reason that at least a few of them might end up in the sex business (in some capacity). The main problem is that from time to time, a woman who clearly doesn't enjoy this kind of stuff ends up (for whatever reason) doing one of these scenes and everybody jumps on that as an example of how sick and twisted all of us rough sex fans are. I don't watch a whole lot of rough porn anymore but when I do, I couldn't tell you if it's 100% consensual or not. It's supposed to be and that's all I know. I think most viewers are probably in the same boat. How many casual porn viewers do you think really bother to post on porn forums like XPT? I don't even read XPT. I don't like the atmosphere over there. There's probably a lot of shit I just don't know because I don't hang out on boards like XPT. But as I said, a lot of porn fans probably don't and some people are judging people they don't know a thing about based upon ADT and XPT regulars (or irregulars).

Because these guys don't have a reputation for doing this and there was no way she could possibly know, right? I'll confess to something. I don't know how things work in the porn business. But I know how things generally go in life. When you're part of a network of people all doing the same kind of work, word gets around. People talk. People who piss others off don't have to do it very many times before they get a bad reputation. Now. How does this very simple rule that applies everywhere else on planet earth simply not apply in porn? I admit that it probably just happens sometimes that a girl gets in over her head or a directer tricks her or something. Maybe it happens more often than I'd like to think. But realistically, how often do you think something like that is going to happen before people develop mechanisms for preventing it? I don't care how "Wild West" unregulated the porn industry is. If people want to deal with a problem badly enough, they'll get it done.
So again. How do these guys keep working without getting a reputation amongst pretty much all industry insiders? I'm not defending them. I'm asking a question because I have no idea how this could possibly go on and the girls would never get smart to it.
I just think there are at least two different conversations going on in this thread. Hell, for that matter, I don't even know what your fucking point is. What are you trying to accomplish?

I meant it is playacting in that they are not really being tied up and beaten against their will. As you know, this extends to yelling out 'No' or even pretending to be raped. The entire master/slave talk is essentially a form of playacting as well. I don't have a problem with rough sex scenes, if you look over this thread you'll see me praising Rocco, Jake Malone and others. I think there is a difference between when it is well done and when it is not. There are those, and I don't doubt they may just a noisy minority, who crow about how degrading, alienated and painful porn can and according to them, should be (the 'keep it in the gutter' crowd).
OK. Nobody is denying that. But what is the point? I'm pretty sure I know what kind of posts you're referring to. They're one of the main reasons I steer clear of XPT. I think it's important that there's always a place for that kind of porn for people who are willing to participate in it and people who want to see it. I don't think all porn should be that way by definition or necessity. Nobody should feel forced to participate in it. I think we just misunderstood one another.

Sorry to derail the thread into another negative discussion of misogyny and S&M. What I was trying to get at was that it would be better if when BDSM was presented that there was more switching between sub and dom. I know some of those in the S&M community don't like 'switching' but I think it makes better sense in most porn because it makes the ritual aspects clearer to the viewer.
It's discussed in the endless Max Hardcore thread with links to their stories. In a nutshell, they say Max did things to them without their permission, including pissing on them and holding them down when they were in pain.
I have been lucky enough to work for sites such as www.meanbitches.com and can say that I've learned a few things from women like Rita Faltoyano, Vanessa Blue, etc. I would not wish a "Christmas tree" of clothespins on anyone's unit. I was clearly not wearing any clothes yet Rita didn't seem to care. Pity.
I think you're going to have to try and explain that because you just lost me. But I'm not someone who really cares for rituals anyway. Oh, to a certain degree. There are some things that I like to see done certain ways but I don't see how switching helps.

All this S and M shit and sturm and drang seems a little too complicated for me. I like porn and personal sex kept as simple as possible. Women are already fucking impossible to understand for me.
Skoo de be doo bah bop bop......I'm Dizzy Gillespie. Annette is dizzy, too, after that opening jawbone-shifting slap. Jake can't even show you the improptu scat singing. That's for european release only.

Ritual, playacting, fantasy, call it what you will. I think switching the sub/dom positions makes the fact that isn't 'for real' more apparent. BTW isn't anyone else going to put up a list?
Kink was the only one of these I don't own, so of course I had to buy it right away. The DVD was released in 1995 and the most disturbing parts (such as Rocco pissing and shitting in a chick's mouth in a bathroom stall) have been edited out. I must say the bathroom scene with Rocco and Careena Collins has got to be one of the top 10 one-on-one scenes ever. At least in my book. I've never seen a chick eat man ass or suck a dick like that in my life.
One disturbing but also a legendary moment from Crimes of the cunt is the scene with Brandon Iron vs Heather/Paris Gables. He's doing cowgirl with her on a broken chair. And he's doing like yeeeeah yaaaah. Fucking hilarious but also disturbing. My list of most disturbing in my mind now: I like it rough 1 Extreme Teen series Cocktails Fashionistas berlin Meatholes some Animal Trainer flicks
I was equally disturbed. How she couldn't buck me off was shocking. It was like she wasn't even trying! If there is one thing I hate, it's a lazy performer. Shame on Heather.
AHHH!!! I read it again and it says MOCK pisses and shits. The reviewer (Rog) was disturbed, so in my haste I thought it would be something disturbing. What a relief. Anyway, loved the scene but didn't find it any more dark and disturbing than loads of other things. It was so hot! As far as disturbing... Go find anything from Sexbox. Even I won't watch that. (well, except for the trailers online). Edited by - threesomebody on 10/26/2008 9:01:54 AM
Ah, this thread! I remember this thread. I learned soooo much in this thread. But still, so much more to learn... I actually have a question about something that was mentioned a while ago. It's about the common phrase in the BDSM community "Safe, sane and consensual". Now, it goes without saying that the words "safe" and "sane" and "consensual" all must de facto mean something very different in the BDSM community than they do to those not in the community. For example, almost anyone not in the community would not consider it "safe" to be hung by your throat until your toes just barely touch the ground. Almost anyone not in the community would not consider it "sane" to enjoy being beaten. Almost anyone not in the community would not consider it "consensual" when they see one person beating another and the person being beaten screaming "no, stop, you're hurting me!" But all of these things would be considered "safe, sane and consensual" by many, if not most, who are into BDSM. So my question is this: what do each of these three words mean to the BDSM community?
Not necessarily. Especially the hanging thing. Also, people "in the community" generally use a safe word and "stop" or "ow" is usually not it. They generally choose a word that leaves little room for confusion. And believe it or not, "stop" can be confusing.
You'd probably get better (more) answers if you asked these questions somewhere where lots of people who are into BDSM congregate. I know there's at least one newsgroup dedicated to discussion of bondage but I haven't visited it for a long time. Also, I'm sure there are BDSM forums and they'd probably even have an FAQ that would answer your questions probably better than almost anyone here would. But if you were still curious, they are usually friendly people who are eager to inform the public about things that are commonly misunderstood about them and their lifestyle. I've never been into it as a way of life but some people are. They would be the people to ask. They make it their business to learn as much as they can about their chosen path.
Well, the newsgroup is easy enough to find. Just go to Google Groups and search for talk about BDSM. As far as forums? I guess you could just do a Google search? I could do it and link you to a random BDSM forum but it would be entirely unresearched. I'd rather check it out and see what kind of place it was before I recommended it to someone.
^No, that's cool. Thanks. I don't mind searching myself. I just thought that if maybe you already knew of one in particular that you thought was good... anyway I'm off to search for something now.
Heya KB, BDSMers are a lot like other folk; put ten of them together and ask that question, and you'll get several different answers, and often half on one side of the line against the other half. In recent years, the very questions you've asked have led to a slightly different term: Risk Aware Consensual Kink, or RACK. RACK addresses the otherwise obvious contradiction associated with 'safe' sadomasochistic activities. Instead of pretending that what we do is completely safe, we accept that our activities carry an inherent risk, and that we engage in the activity anyway (thus, Risk-Aware, while still being consensual.) It sounds elaborate, but it's just a fancy name for something we do all the time; every time we get behind the wheel of a car, there's a slight chance that we'll be in an accident. If we're behind the wheel in LA traffic at 1am on a Friday, that chance increases exponentially. Yet knowing full well there's risks associated with driving, we do it anyway. We understand there are things we can do to reduce the risk (using our seatbelt, paying attention when we drive, avoid the bar areas, having sound tires, not driving too fast, checking that our lights are working, etc.) The same is true in S&M activities. As for the examples, I've known more than my share of 'vanilla' women who enjoyed being spanked or treated roughly during sex (to the point where it could easily be called 'being beaten') and it's the old joke about when a woman says no, she means yes (and no, I'm not suggesting it's always true; just that there's a fine line between being coy, and revoking/denying consent; I never so much as lay a finger on a woman without consent.) There's no clear black and white line between vanilla and BDSM; it's like most other aspects of sexuality, a broad spectrum that a person usually falls somewhere in the median 70%. Very few people are stark white vanilla, or pure black kinky. Oh, and as I've suggested before, collarechat.com is a great place to ask questions of a more specialized BDSM community. Bondage.com also has quite an active forum. Regards, Stephan
In the vein of supposed "dark and disturbing Porn" I am driven to protest. I enjoy it immensely and I'm sorry if you don't all understand my passion for passion it is. I get an extreme thrill from putting myself (a bisexual male) in the place of these women who getting degraded via Max Hardcore. I want to be one of these women-I'll drink the piss and lick his asshole while he calls me vile names. I love and worship Max. And I am a man at least in part and certainly physically I'm male but. My fantasy is to live as a female slave in his house and I have reached sweet orgasm many, many times with these scenes as a basis. For example I'd love to be handcuffed by Max made to fetch beer for him and his friends. Such a thrill is heaven. This is why I watch Max Hardcore. Get it! It turns me on and if you don't agree then I refer you to the 1st Amendment.

Loved Stephan and RPs answers. Yes, I agree that a safe word helps pretty much completely eliminate the confusion that would be associated with whether something is consensual or not. As far as 'sane', that word means something different to each individual. 'Safe' is a tiny bit more universal. There are things that those in the BDSM community KNOW are too potentially risky to do - like leaving a person with compromised breathing alone. Yet, some people still seem to do it. I can't explain what was going through their head.

Great informative thread. I've learned so much.
This reminds me of the Team America explanation of dicks, pussies, and assholes
I don't understand the whole anal-to-vaginal w/o disinfecting thing either. I read a while back that a pornstar permitted (I find rare) someone to publish a story that she got a severe vaginal staph infection. Although there have been great strides in public sanitation & practices, many in the public ignore good sanitary practices, thinking if they get an infection they'll just take some oral antibiotics. Today, the risk is even greater with increasing and newly emerging drug resistant microbial strains (i.e., MRSA, VRE, GAS, etc. etc.), nevermind the fact that the pharmaceutical industry has almost altogether stopped developing new antibiotics, thus effectively giving the medical community a smaller arsenal for unresponsive patients. I don't care how taboo or erotic it is, it's not worth dying for.

To some people it might be worth dying for. Or rather, worth accepting the possibility of dying from it. And not from other causes. Just like it is with every other life-threatening activity, like motorbiking, freeclimbing, smoking, you name it. This is one of the greatest ADT threads ever, thanks for bumping it!
Agreed. I've enjoyed reading peoples viewpoints from many different angles. Personally what turns me on is a challenge. I tend to enjoy both domination and submission and the real joy of BDSM (for me) is exploring mine and other peoples limits. :)

Good point. Apparently it is for a lot, but I think there's a lot of girls (and especially guys) who are under-appraising the risk portion of it. Then again, maybe it's me
Speaking of Rocco, His Biography on his web-site says:
and occasionally [he] pulls hair to the point of causing tears http://www.roccosiffredi.com/about.php C'mon now, is that being said to make him more notorious than he already is? From all of the movies I've seen from Rocco, I never have seen a scene where he got some hair in hins hands from a girl. Is this a bullshit claim, or do any of you have actually seen movies/scenes like this? If so, which ones?
Yeah ROcco does pretty much the same style of porn as Kahn Tusion and MAx Hardcore, minus the young girl stuff, but Rocco is European, and good looking. Europeans tend to be more sexually adventurous than Americans, The women over in Europe seem to be more willing to put up with anything a man dishes out look at Porn like GGG and ROcco and compare it to most of the American porn, it's quite tame in comparison. The American sexual libido doesn't encompass all of the darkness and roughness that the European libido does, and also Rocco has the looks of a model so he can get away with treating a woman like shit the same way a good looking Manager can get away with making lewd sexual remarks to his female employees, but a Ugly manager can't.
