I've been having a problem for the last couple months and it's been acting up again. I've E-Mailed Steph and Drew and they can't seem to find the problem so trying here to see what the problem might be. When I E-Mailed Steph about it today she said I may be able to find help here.
Here's the deal. Whenever I start a topic or respond to a poll I check the box to be notified by E-Mail. Problem is either it works fine, not at all or sporadically. IE, in like the rage or audioslave, sexiest voice, and a few other threads I'm getting all my notifications. BUT, in threads like the two words thread or the nonsense thread I get a notification like once a week and it's skipped like three pages by then. Or, in threads like, scariest scene ever or the dead pool thread I'm getting no notifications at all. I can see if I'm not getting any in any thread but this hit and miss on different threads is really baffling to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Kimi Lixx,Julie Night,Tina Tyler and then everyone else.

I've always thought it had more to do with your email account than your web browser. I did verify that the emails are being sent to you. I'd recommend setting up a Yahoo or Gmail email account and switch your forum email address to that. Then see if you get the notifications. If you do then you need to figure out why your ISP is blocking mail that you want to receive.

Sorry, I misunderstood your use of "IE". IE to me means Internet Explorer. i.e. is something entirely different.

But the email account is still what I place the blame on.

Thanks.

Nothing yet.

But it has only been a few minutes. What's normal delivery time?

Oh... for the helluvit... right after I posted here a while ago, I sent an email to my email box here on ADT. It is on forward. Fwiw, it has not arrived yet either.

Something is odd.

You replied to me in this thread:
https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/forum/topic.dlt/topic_id=93588/forum_id=16/cat_id=3/93588.htm
at 8:04pm.

I got the notification for it a couple minutes ago. It could have been there for a few minutes more.

You made that reply after the reply in this thread.
Still haven't gotten notification for your reply in this thread.

Weird....

And the test email hasn't forwarded through yet either.

All this is just fwiw . Hope it is useful info for you.

Like I said the most confusing thing is why I get all notifications for some threads and no notices on others while even other threads I'll get sporadic notifications.

Drew, can't you just make it where my balls itch instead of sending an email? Oh! Hey! That was quick! Pardon me for a moment.

AHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Man, you're a whiz.

Now, can you make it where it feels like I'm getting a blowjob whenever someone posts in the Nonsense Thread?

I was freaked out at first, too, but then I closed my eyes and relaxed just like TonyC taught me.

Well, I've got pretty much the opposite problem, but I don't think it's necessary to start a new thread for that one:

Can anyone tell me whether there's a possibility to opt out of e-mail notifications for certain threads after already having opted in before? Because unlike the thread starter I really could do without about 10 to 80 e-mail notifications per day that tell me there's something new in the infamous "Type two words" thread. More often than not I get it after the third one.
Now of course it's my fault I opted in in the first place almost two years ago, but I never really thought a Neech thread can become that successful. (Just kidding concerning the Neech part, Neech. )

Panties - maybe not the best thing in the world, but next to it.

When I do get notifications, this is always part of them:

"If you no longer wish to receive notifications of new posts in this message thread you can unsubscribe by accessing a link in your forum profile. Your profile can be accessed by clicking the 'Profile' link near the top of the forum page."

I still have the same issue. Some threads I get notifications on and others I don't . Then sometimes it will stop and then the notifications will come back but the thread has advanced like 2 pages. No rhyme or reason.

I'm not looking into fixing this issue. We will have a private messaging system soon and the old notification system will be completely replaced with all new code.

I will add a thread subscription manager to the profile section within the next few days. It was wrapped up in the private message system that's not quite ready for launch. I'll pull it out of there and handle it separately along with fixing a few other minor bugs in the profiles.

It would be nice if on our account page we could have a space for introducing ourselves, how we came to post on ADT, where our home page is etc. So if you could get on that right away Drew, that much sooner you'll be finished.

Something I've often wished for, that I've seen on some other forums: A 'subscribe to this thread' option. A way to get email notifications of new posts, without having to make a post in said thread.

Just curious - any plans to include this?

The temporary thing I'm going to put in place is just a means to unsubscribe from threads that you have posted in and requested notifications. The new topic subscribing stuff is very intertwined with the new private messaging system. (all notifications will route as PMs and the user's private message settings will determine if they get email notifications.) I don't want to spend a bunch of time writing code that I know will be temporary but I do see a need for a method to unsubscribe from threads.

BTW, the image/file uploading system is first priority after the thread unsubscribe mechanism. After that I'll finish the private messaging system, photo galleries, blogs, etc.

Never mind I forgot about that. I was thinking that i never see anyone's home page so I guess no one has put it up yet.

Here's another example of someone making use of more of the profile features. It's Jamie Tyler's profile.
